DISCUSSION:
Qualitative analysis is used to determine the presence of cations or anions present within a sample
and their impurities. Information known, such as chemical and physical properties, about cations
and anions can be used to determine what steps should be used to separate the sample into one,
specific ion. Qualitative analysis involves forming and decomposing complex ions. Qualitative tests
are very sensitive, allowing to detect a very small amount present in sample. Due to sensitivity,

In every step, there was a precipitate and supernatant liquid. This lead to students being able to
determine which exact ion is present in solution.
A solution containing three unknown ions (#3) was then tested. Procedure was carried out
accordingly to lab manual. Determined ions present in solution were Fe3+, Cr3+, and Cu2+. The
confirmatory test for Fe3+ that was used was , K4Fe(CN)6 add to a precipitate containing Fe3+.
A dark blue precipitate formed which is a positive result, Fe3+ is present in this solution.
Continuing procedure, Cr3+ presence was confirmed in step 9 by dissolving the precipitate with
HNO3 then adding 5 drops of diphenycarbazide (dcp) solution. The supernatant was yellow then a
sudden change to pretty, dark pink/purple after the first drop confirmed chromium presence. The
reason for the color change is because chromium is reduced and dcp is oxidized. Further, along in
the procedure, another positive test revealed the last ion present, Cu2+. The confirmatory test of
copper revealed a positive result. This test was actually performed a couple of times to get a
positive test due to skipping of a solution. Copper was confirmed by adding K4Fe(CN)6 to
supernatant. A maroon precipitate formed, Cu2Fe(CN)6.
Lastly, a solution containing four unknown ions (#6) was to be determined. The determined ions for
solution #6 was iron (Fe3+), chromium (Cr3+), bismuth (Bi2+), and aluminum (Al3+).

Personal Reflection
"Group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning that
enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually".
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not
always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made
sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and
happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas
from one another and making it into one. My feelings about the group process was a little mix at
first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were
all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas
started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other
group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don't overthink everything. The things
I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on
a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a

1.a) The class is in a productive zone when every individual is contributing to the discussion.
Prevalent silence is a sign that we aren't being productive, but the discussion must also be
meaningful rather than just filling the silence. For me personally, I need to make sure to pick the
times when my input is most insightful to speak up, as well as trying to reach out to the people
who are quiet. My level of heat started out too high and went down to a manageable amount where
I don't feel nearly as afraid to contribute. The class as a whole tends a little on the cold side, and

On this nurse's unit, the use of cell phones is highly discouraged and even punishable. While this
limits the nurses ability to access EBP information or use mobile apps, it is a reasonable policy
given the ability of most phones to take pictures and the close proximity of the neonates could make
parents uncomfortable. There are nursing journals and reference books available for resources, as
well as the neonatologist's journals. At least half of them are older than five years. The nurses do
have access using the hospital's intranet to resources. This is available at any time during the work
day using the staff computers. This does include an e–library resource for evidence searches. This
nurse does not often use these resources as this time due to time limitations.
Recommendations
The unit this nurse works in does promote evidence–based practice on a daily basis. However,
individual nurses are not encouraged as widely to research on their own. It would be helpful if they
were given extra time and encouragement to work on evidence–based projects. The simple truth is
when it comes down to care of one's patient, or searching for evidence, the nurse is going to choose
her patient every time. The nurse should not have to make this choice.
Conclusion

"not politicians but policy advisers within government". What emerged from our group was a
significant and diverse dialog involving the definition of the 'grand ideologies' – being capitalism and
socialism– mentioned in the article and a reflective debate concerning the function of political power
and influence in the creation of policy.
Contributions from group members helped to define the processes of capitalism and socialism and
led to a discussion on their applications in modern day Australia. While there was an acceptance of
Gallop's perspective that these two systems of thought are "active and relevant", the definition of
these ideologies being "moral and intellectual irritants...decreasingly used as benchmarks in political
judgement" was not supported. A majority of the discussion advocated the current government
pursuing fiscal gains over the development of fair policy, indicating a belief in Commonwealth being
highly influenced by a capitalist agenda....show more content...
Iterated through inputs from discussion participants, direct comparisons of Gallop's ideal policy
making process to today's governance formed a shared conviction over the high amount of power
that political influence exhibits over policy making. This led to an agreement that this political
approach is significant in reducing policy creativity and directly influenced by the ideals of the
overarching authority. In light of this perspective, it was also interpreted that the bureaucracy
created from this power struggle has led to an imbalance between political objectivity and
dependence on circumstantial agendas that ultimately mocks a fair policy

Trayvon Martin's Limitations
Limitation has either held people back or opened their eyes for centuries. The Black Lives Matter
movement could not have started if Black Americans anger torwards police had not boiled over
from the shooting of Trayvon Martin. John Milton, when writing his poem "When I Consider How
My Light Is Spent", showed the hardships, but also the opportunity of his new limitation. Plato said,
"Society originates . . . because the individual is not self sufficient" (Plato 55). Many people believe
that growing up requires accepting limitations, but these acts of humanity tell a different story.
Growing up does not require accepting limitations, but it does require accepting the need for others
to believe what the catalyst believes in order to create impactful change in a society. Attempting to
create change without a strong catalyst can not alter an old–established institution of the society.
When Milton was writing "When I Consider How My Light Is Spent", he wrote from a pace of
desperation where he believed his blindness would prevent him from using his gift of writing.
Similarly, Trayvon Martin's death sparked large outrage, but it was not strong enough to cause any

Milton proved that even with a limitation like blindness, his talent was not "lodged with [him]
useless", but could still be used to reach and inspire others. The six year old boy holding a sign that
said "Don't Shoot", reminded people on the left and the right, that Black People are still people, and
do not deserve to be harmed by the ones who should be protecting them. Plato's own mentor,
Socrates, was killed for even practising philosophy, but Plato went on to write a book to show why
philosophers should be the ones deciding punishment, and should not be killed

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and
involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they
go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead
something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better
equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the
most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for
the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is
not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge
not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an
energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like
an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or
her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only
to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a
particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more
