Army Leadership Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Army Leadership" poses a unique set of challenges,
demanding a comprehensive understanding of military principles, organizational dynamics, and
the intricacies of effective leadership within the armed forces. It requires not only a grasp of
theoretical frameworks but also practical insights into the day-to-day realities faced by military
leaders.
The complexity lies in weaving together theoretical concepts, drawing from historical examples,
and incorporating real-world experiences to create a nuanced narrative. One must delve into the
principles of leadership, exploring how they are adapted and applied in the dynamic and high-
stakes environment of the military. This necessitates extensive research to gather reliable sources,
ranging from military doctrines and historical accounts to contemporary case studies.
Additionally, conveying the essence of effective leadership in the army involves addressing the
multifaceted nature of the role. From strategic decision-making to interpersonal skills, the essay
must explore how leaders navigate challenges, foster teamwork, and inspire confidence in their
subordinates. Moreover, it requires a careful balance between discussing the broader significance
of leadership and delving into specific instances that highlight the intricacies and demands of the
role.
Furthermore, crafting an engaging and insightful essay on army leadership requires a clear and
logical structure. The writer must organize the content in a way that not only conveys
information effectively but also maintains the reader's interest throughout. The use of
appropriate language and terminology adds an additional layer of complexity, demanding
precision and accuracy in conveying military concepts.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Army Leadership" is a challenging endeavor that
requires a deep understanding of military principles, adept research skills, and the ability to
synthesize theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. Success in this task hinges on the
writer's capacity to navigate the complexities of military leadership and present a cohesive and
compelling narrative.

Examples Of Ice In Jane Eyre
Fire and Ice and Everything Nice
Throughout the nineteenth century, women were expected to conform to the ideal
standard of femininity set before them to be accepted within society. However, in
Charlotte Bronte s novel Jane Eyre, Jane paves the path for her own destiny without
sacrificing her passions and desires. Jane encounters both fire and ice characters and
environments throughout the entirety of the novel, which ultimately refine instead of
defining her. Jane s maturation into self independence is observed through fire and
ice characters and environments in Gateshead, Lowood, Thornfield, and Moor House.
Growing up as an orphan, Jane carries a fiery rage against her neglectful aunt and
cousins throughout her childhood. While Mrs. ... Show more content on

John Rivers, who is a firm contrast to the fiery Mr. Rochester. According to one
author, women s salvation typically depended on men s understanding of God s
will, and St. John is no exception (Lamonaca 248). St. John s insistency that Jane
come to India with him is because he believes that God has called her to
missionary work. As Thomas Langford states in his article, Prophetic Imagination
and the Unity of Jane Eyre, the spiritual (if not the physical) death toward which
Jane is tempted by St. John s proposal of a marriage without love and a missionary
service without dedication fascinates Jane, even though she knows that the
occupation would ultimately kill her (232). While Jane is drawn to St. John due
to his icy nature, she recognizes that becoming St. John s missionary partner and
wife would destroy her. St. John and Jane are opposites of each other, both in
personality and religious expression. While Jane has a passionate and intimate
relationship with Christ, St. John practices his faith through diligence in works and
obedience. Franklin observes that St. John s lack of spirit is the reason Jane cannot
abandon half of herself or claims to love her whole self (468). Despite the time gap
from when she has last been with Mr. Rochester, Jane often thinks of him and has
mixed feelings on what she should do regarding St. John s proposal. Langford
observes the notion that Jane would satisfy her love in violation of convention
Essay about The Public-Private Prison Debate
California is suffering from a crisis in the prison system. Its facilities are operating
at double capacity and grossly deficient medical care is the cause of at least one
inmate death per week (Wood, 2008, para. 2). Because of this need for reform, the
federal government is stepping in to direct the state prisons operating procedure.
Although the financial choices of each state should be free from federal control, the
federal governmentis still known to put pressure on states to make decisions,
especially when lawsuits arise. An example of federal legislation commanding state
behavior is busing. The states felt that they should have the autonomy to decide
whether racial integration was right for them. The federal government,... Show more

Because of this fiscal pressure, governments are looking for alternatives to the public
prison system. The predominant idea for reformation is privatization of prisons.
Journals abound with responses to this idea including Ph.D. Gaes s article in the
National Institute of Justice Journal, L. Beaty s article in The Case Journal, and R.
Culp s article in the Criminal Justice Policy Review. In Gaes s article, his problem
with the decision to transfer prisons into private hands is the lack of concrete
evidence whether the concept is actually a means of savings or not. His point is that
the studies that have been done bear completely different results, causing a
discrepancy about actual savings. His example illustrates two different studies, one
conducted by the Abt and another by the BOP. The Abt used actual figures from a
public prison that was much smaller than the private prison in question. In doing so,
the numbers were slanted towards favoring the privatization of prisons, as they were
able to save more money per inmate by doing business on a larger scale. The BOP
study, on the other hand, estimated what expenditures would have existed for
identically sized prisons, making the comparison more realistic (2008, para. 2). His
final conclusion is that further studies are necessary to determine whether the
proponents of privatization are fundamentally correct in their
The Puritan Settlers And How Puritanism Involved
Aspects...
In one of the stories about the American founding, settlers that came to America
inherited a vast, unpopulated land . Due to the abundance of land, settlers did not
have to fight for resources . Therefore, everyone had had an equal opportunity and it
followed that there was no need for a hierarchical feudalistic system in order to
distribute the land . This in turn became the foundation of American liberal thought.
Additionally, the settlers had also adopted some ancient republican ideas and this led
to the creation of a complex American political thought with characteristics of both
liberalismand republicanism. Although both paradigms seem to contradict each other
to a large extent and hence one would expect that both paradigms may be unable to
coexist in the same political environment, in this essay, I argue that in American
politics, liberalism and republicanism coexist, interact and overlap to a large extent.
This is illustrated in the adoption of both paradigms by the settlers of the New World.
For this essay, I will focus specifically on the Puritan settlers and how Puritanism
involved aspects of both republicanism and liberalism. Additionally, I will illustrate
how both paradigms are also present to a large extent in the respective, uniquely
American arguments of both the anti federalists and federalists and in the
Constitution and its 10 amendments.
For the purposes of this essay, I define liberalism as a school of political thought
concerned with liberty,

Compare And Contrast The Battle Of Texington And
Concord
In the two hundred and forty one years that the United States has been a nation, many
important events have occurred. The American Revolution, the Constitution, and the
Civil War being some of the most influential. Within each of these times there were
significant events that helped to make the meaningful occurrences monumental. The
American Revolutionhad many significant battles over the course of the seven years
that it lasted, but one the most important ones was the Battle of Lexington and
Concord because without it the patriots would not have had the push they needed to
fight the British. They also would not have had enough men but when the battle
started militias from other towns joined together to form the continental army. On

When the british arrived the patriots had met them at the north bridge where they had
a stand off and exchanged fire until the british were forced to retreat. This battle is
important for more than just the fact that it was the first battle of the American
Revolution. Without this battle the continental army would not have been formed.
After the battle of Lexington and Concord occurred, the militia that helped to fight
the British was then joined by militias from other surrounding towns in
Massachusetts. Without the battle of Lexington and Concord we would not have a
large enough militia to fight the British and we would not have gotten the push we
needed to fight back. Author and historian specializing in the battle of Lexington and
Concord Allen French discusses this point in the book he wrote The Day of Concord
and Lexington: The Nineteenth of April 1775, For nothing can dim the Significance
of the day. Its story rang through the colonies, and called men to arms. For
The Benefits Of Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
For some patients with COPD medications, pulmonary rehabilitation and other typical
interventions may not be enough. Particularly for patients with later stage COPD,
surgery may be the best option .
Nevertheless surgical treatments for the disease can take one of three forms: lung
volume reduction surgery, bullectomy or lung transplantation.
Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
A large area of damaged lung is removed to allow the remaining lung tissue to
expand where you breathe in. This surgery is done only for people with severe
COPD or with certain type of emphysema.
Air gets trapped in the areas affected by the emphysema, and there s not much lung
tissue there anyway. So they re basically not only useless, but work against the patient

Prayer In Public School Vs. Private Schools And Public...
Prayer in school is a controversial topic of today s time. There are different pros and
cons when it comes to bringing religion into schools. Varying from state to state
the court s perspective has played a major role in the decision of having prayer in
schools, as well as the opinions of society. Understanding that your personal
opinion is not the same as everyone else s is important and others may have
different point of views. The controversial topics that give examples for each
position allows you to realize whether you agree or disagree. You could start out
with a set opinion about it, but after reading the different sides and stories it may
change your mind. There is a difference in public schools and private schools that
practice prayerin school. If you sign your child up for a private schooland the
handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you cannot later go against it.
Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything they say
goes. Private schools are allowed more freedom and less restriction on prayer in
school. The students in a private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private
schools are known as independent schools, which means they are non governmental
and not administered by local, state or national government. Students are allowed
more freedom of religionand allowed to express their religious beliefs more
openly(Prayer in School Pros and Cons List, NYLN).
Public schools are ran and funded by the
The Heart And Vascular Institute
Clinical Specialty Area
The clinical area chosen was the Heart and Vascular Institute through one of the
hospital systems I am employed with. I had been involved with a project that studied
the readmissions experienced within the hospital system and established heart failure
(HF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders (COPD) were our highest
readmission problems. Our organization had found that millions of dollars had been
left on the table since the Centers for Medicare Medicaid (CMS) handed down their
final ruling in 2012 regarding reduced payments for preventable readmissions
(CMS.gov, 2016).
One of the outcomes of the project was the development of the rapid diuresis unit
(RDU) through our Cardiac Decision Units (CDU) at several campuses. I often
wondered how the RDU of the CDU was set up and how they function within the
system. This is my opportunity to see the operation firsthand, the clientele it serves,
the staff, and potential education needs that the department faces.

Improving The Data Warehouse Technology Essay
There is currently a very strong need for a defined and standardized process to
request work related to the data warehouse. Not only does the work requests need
to be standardized the development methodology needs to be defined with an
agile approach fitting best with the direction and culture of the company. By
clearly defining steps to both of these things the efficiency of the team will be
greatly improved. They should be able to complete more projects as well as
improve the quality of the products they are producing. With less mistakes and
errors and more work being completed the return on investment for the data
warehouse technology will be greatly increased. These changes could also drive a
change in the culture of the company to become more data driven. If there was
confidence in the data warehouse and the reporting coming from it as well as trust
between the business departments and the data team this could drive improvement
across the company. Discovering opportunities for improvement using data is the
currently unrealized goal of the data warehouse. All improvements and changes and
improvements outlines in this document have that goal in mind. 2BUSINESS
NEED AND CURRENT SITUATION There is currently a business need for a more
formal software and systems development methodology for the data team. A standard
process needs to be created and adhered to for the full development cycle starting

Thomas Jefferson Centralized Bank
I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than
standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity,
under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale. Thomas
Jefferson, 1816. Since the formation of the United States, the use of a centralized bank
has been a point of debate. Thomas Jefferson was against the formation of a
centralized bank, but Alexander Hamilton contended that it was necessary to create a
centralized bank for carrying out the powers specifically granted to congress
(American History 1994). According to the Constitution the national government was
authorized to levy and collect taxes, pay debts, and borrow money. Hamilton believed
a national bank would help perform these functions efficiently. Jefferson argued the
Constitution does not grant the federal government the ability to set up a bank.
Speaking on behalf of states rights, he argued any powers not specifically designated

These panics contributed to the failure of banks and businesses alike. In 1907
banks extended too much credit to consumers in order to keep up with the increase
in spending activity. The currency available to the public was depleted soon after.
Banks could no longer conduct loans or pay out money from existing accounts.
This led to the loss of their security and their complete collapse. Financial crisis of
this type had happened before but this time it led to the creation of the Federal
Reserve Act. President Woodrow Wilson signed the act in December of 1913, and
established the Federal Reserve board, but their purpose and oversight were not
clearly defined. Originally the Federal Reserve banks role was to control the
discounted rate at which other banks could lend each other money. Over the years
the Federal Reserve s powers have grown (Federal Reserve System
Essay on Klamath Falls Crisis
the paper is about the water crisis that is taking place right now in the Klamath Falls
are of Oregon. It discusses the many problems that the different groups of interest are
dealing with. The main group that I focused on was the view point of the farmers.
The Klamath Lake, along with other various rivers, lakes and canals that surround it,
are the basis for almost 500 species of wildlife in southern Oregon and parts of
northern California. It also serves as the most important factor in a farmer s
livelihood; their irrigation. The basis for the water crisis that is going to today in this
region is that the current water levels and somewhat water quality are diminishing

It seemed that most of the controversy in the water crisis was either about water
rights issues or about the current water levels compared to the fish population, which
in turn had effects on the endangered species of this area. Very rarely did anyone
speak about the Native American s wants or needs concerning the Klamath River
water crisis. The Natives feel that they should have some say about what decisions
are going to be made concerning the area since they have been in the Klamath are
longer than any other group.
As little as the Native Americans were discussed, the needs of the commercial
fisherman were even less than them. I don t think more than one person out of all
the guest lecturers and people we heard from on our class trip had discussed any of
the feelings of the fisherman. I m not quite certain which guest lecturer talked about
their needs, but they did mention that the commercial fisherman felt that they had an
economic right to fish the waters of the Klamath. Much like the Natives, fishing
these waters is a way of life for these fisherman and they felt as if it was being taken
away from them.
One of the groups of interest that we discussed in class one day completely slipped
my mind from ever being involved in the water crisis. The political parties, both
Democrat and Republican, are also somewhat involved in the issues at the Klamath
Basin. The reason I

Myths And Myths Of The Greek World
A myth is a traditional story, concerning the early history of people or explaining a
natural or social phenomenon; they typically involve supernatural being or events
(Dictionary.com, 2016). Myths certainly had a simple aesthetic function of
entertainment; they were presented through the means of visual and theatrical art
(Cartwright. M, 2012). Myths provided advice on how to lead a good life. Some
myths were purposely composed to be outrageous and wrong because it taught the
people what not to do. Myths, however, were also thought to be a reflection of the
Greek s way of thinking; this was depicted through them portraying their deities as
humans, giving them human traits (Vandiver. E, 2000). Myths explained the
environment in which humankind lived in and the natural phenomena they witnessed
(Vandiver. E, 2000). They were also intricately connected to religion in the Greek
world and explained the origin of Gods and where humanity had come from and
where humans would go after death (Mark. J, 2012). Myths provided entertainment
and also shocked people into behaving. Myths were represented in visual art on
sculptures, pottery, and even public buildings and were also prominent in within
theatres in plays written by famous playwrights like Sophocles, Euripides and
Aeschylus (Cartwright. M, 2000). Some myths deliberately contained characters or
Gods with undesirable traits. These myths all contained morals that shocked the
Greeks and taught them how to live a good life and what
Theme Of Loss Of Innocence In To Kill A Mockingbird
A principle of growing up is that at some point, every child goes through a loss of
innocence. Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, it is easy to see the young characters
growing up and beginning to notice things they never noticed before. One character
in particular being Jem. He goes through the maturing stage throughout the book and
it recognizes how he did so. In To Kill a Mockingbirdby Harper Lee, Jem faces a loss
of innocence causing him to see from a more mature point of view.
Scout begins to notice the change in Jem s personality and feels offended because
she doesn t quite understand. On page 153 the text reads, Over night, it seemed,

Advantages Of Smuggling Currency
Land Smuggling currency across land, although lacking in speed and the ability to
reach many international destinations, is still a relatively easy way to transport cash.
US customs presence tends to be less at outbound stations. Inspections tend to be
infrequent as they interfere with the flow of traffic and at times cause massive traffic
congestion. Another advantage of land border crossings is that vehicles in which to
conceal the currency are easy to obtain. Customs officials have found currency in

Krakauer does his best to turn McCandless into a sympathetic, relatable figure, by
appealing to the reader s logic and emotion, but ultimately fails. By exploring
McCandless personality and background, Krakauer makes an appeal to logos.
From the very start, Krakauer states Alaska has long been a magnet for dreamers

A frugal introvert such as McCandless should be perfectly suited to a life in the
wild. The ability to lead a spartan lifestyle is something to be admired, but
McCandless does not come across as admirable. Rather, he is spoiled and
obstinate. The fact he had $24,000 of college money to donate upon graduating,
money which was given to him by a family friend no less, shows that McCandless
could not have lead a truly sparse life. There was no fear of a next meal or a lack
of a roof overhead. Anything he wanted, McCandless had access to. His refusal to
give gifts comes across as selfish and ostentation. McCandless letter encouraging
Franz to find joy in travel rather than personal relationships demonstrates his self
righteousness. By putting his lifestyle of choice on a pedestal, McCandless shows
just how little regard he holds for the beliefs of others. McCandless holds the ideals
of a young man squirming to get away from the wealth of his parents, but rather
than use compassion to atone for his privilege, he becomes jaded and cuts off
positive interaction with those he should be able to rely on. Krakauer does his best
to make McCandless past justify his trek into the wild, but succeeds only in making
McCandless look like a brat. Krakauer appeals to pathos by revealing how those close

The Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis
The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the
word sepsis 2400 years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection
leads to tissue breakdown with rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman
scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus Terentius Varro mentioned that small
creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed through the nose
cause dangerous diseases.
In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest
Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis
were termed in detail. At that time, sepsis was described as a systemic response to a
physiologic insult including infections and other etiologies that lead to the
development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple organ
dysfunction syndromes.
The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether
clinical symptoms are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used
for the isolation of bacteria in blood in combination with clinical symptoms and signs
of infections.
Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical
and laboratory findings that occur in response to invasive infection within the first 30
days (neonatal) of life. Criteria for neonatal sepsis should include documentation of
infection in a newborn infant (0 28days) with a serious systemic illness in which

Pharmacy Career Research
A pharmacist is a healthcare professional who is an expert on pharmaceutical drugs
and how they act to fight disease and improve the health of the patient. Pharmacists
are responsible for the implementation of drug therapy with the intention of
improving the quality of a patient s life. Some examples of such improvements
include curing diseases, reducing or eliminating a patient s symptoms, slowing the
process of a disease, and preventing disease. A pharmacist works with patients and
other healthcare professionals in order to design, implement, and monitor a drug

work in research for drug companies or teach at universities. Pharmacists who own
and run their own pharmacy may also obtain their MBA. Pharmacy colleges require
two years of general pre pharmacy education. These classes include mathematics and
natural sciences such as chemistry, biology, and physics. Another requirement is
courses in humanities and social sciences.
In 2000, the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education named 82 accredited
colleges of pharmacy. Current schools in North Carolina that offer pharmaceutical
degrees are University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Wingate University, and
Campbell University. Some of these colleges require that students take the Pharmacy
College Admissions Test. All of these colleges offer courses in pharmacy practice in
order to teach the dispensing of drugs, communication skills, and dealing with other
health professionals. Such courses strengthen students understanding of professional
ethics and practice managerial responsibilities. All pharmacists must know the drug
laws, assessment skills, problem solving approaches, and have managerial and
communication abilities. Every pharmacist must obtain a license, however in order to
do this they must serve under a licensed pharmacist, graduate from an accredited
college, and pass a state exam. Some states require continued education for license
renewal. For pharmacists there are many areas of graduate study such as
pharmaceutics,

suggested that, A program is a sequence of instructions that specifies how to perform
a computation. Given this information, it was concluded that rules and disciplines
were required in order for the knight to understand and process any instructions given
to it. Having prior knowledge that the knight would foremost, need a full
understanding of movement as a program platform, it was evaluated, that rotational
360o axis was attached as a second layer to the maze, this accommodated to calculate
how many degrees the knight would need to turn as it progressed through the maze;
leaving an understanding of full movement understanding (see Appendix C).
A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft
Excel chart. The chart would record how many movements the knight would have
to take, how many steps were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o
and movements up or down. The decision was also made to declare that each square
the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step and whether the knight turned
or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1 movement (see
Appendix A).
Using this method, I created a cognitive solution or pathway to a complex maze. Its
simplicity produced a visual instruction on which directional momentum or pivot the
knight would need to move in order to reach the Princess in the centre of

Kyoto Protocol Of The Unfccc ( 2005 )
The Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC (2005)
1. Introduction
Founded on the belief that humans are ultimately responsible for global warming,
the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997 and made effective in 2005 with the aim of
reducing national quantitative greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% (compared with
emissions in 1990) in industrialised countries worldwide. This would equate to a
29% cut overall by 2010. The protocol intends to specifically reduce global emissions
of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulphur hexafluoride, HFCs and PFCs
(www.kyotoprotocol.com). The protocol was later revised in its second commitment
period stating that an 18% cut (compared with 1990) in emissions between 2013
2020 would be its next target. The Kyoto Protocol created three market based
mechanisms...known as the carbon market to support its targets (UNFCCC). These
mechanisms covered emissions trading, the clean development mechanism (CDM)
and joint implementation. Combined, the mechanisms are geared towards
encouraging sustainable development using technology and investment, reducing
emissions in an economically viable way and stimulating developing countries to
reduce their emissions too. International cooperation was essential for the Kyoto
Protocol to be enforced and achieve its aims. As the protocol seeks to reduce
greenhouse emissions globally, efforts are needed from all industrialised countries
emitting harmful gases into the Earth s atmosphere. Without adequate participation
How Did Merce Cunningham Develop His Dance
Merce Cunningham followed the unique body movements and the use of contracting
and releasing, as well as the acceptance of gravity, that Martha Graham employs in
her choreography. He also infuses the technical aspects of ballet into his dance,
Cunningham has, however, developed his own, unique way to choreograph; a
technique in which he believes that danceshould be created. Cunningham s technique
is rather unorthodox, as he believes that the music should not dictate the dance, and
throws all notions of story and narrative out the window. Cunningham had a very
unique ideology in terms of how a dance was to be determined or performed, he
rolled dice to decide which way his dancers heads, arms, legs, and feet would
combine in a particular position,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new, post modern style of dance emulates the separation that was created
between the original traditional dance form of Ballet, to Graham, and even farther to
Cunningham, who separates himself from not just the traditional form and technique,
but the narratives and the purpose which was set for dance; Cunningham goes so far
as to separate his dance from music, literally, practicing and creating a dance with a
stop watch, rather than music, only introducing the music in the actual performance.
Cunningham would certainly be considered avant garde in terms of dance, and the
traditions of story telling. His choreography shows an evolution and separation from
the beginning forms of the art, which is even more modern than the modern dance of
Graham. Graham s technique influenced Cunningham s style and technique in dance,
and he took her concept, which was to turn the idea of what dance should be, on its
head, and took it to a completely different realm. Graham asked why gravity and
body shapes and movements shouldn t be explored in dance; Cunningham asked why
Dance had to be so interconnected to music, why it should be tied to
Theme In Maxe Kumin s Woodchucks
Throughout one s life, that individual learns rather valuable lessons that he can
carry with him for future generations. These lessons can be acquired through
personal experience or through pieces of literature that he or she may have
encountered. In these pieces of literature, the lessons obtained are generally
associated with theme. Theme is an issue of literature that tends to come up after a
reader has concluded a form of writing. These forms of writing usually consist of
short stories or poems. Theme is an issue due to the fact there are various ways to
interpret what a short story or poem is attempting to convey as the theme.
Accomplishing what the true theme of a piece of art is is extremely puzzling, and
the people with the responsibility of completing this task are left with ambivalent
minds. This is especially true in Maxine Kumin s poem entitled Woodchucks . In
this poem, the narrator is fed up with woodchucks destroying his or her garden so
the narrator pursues a means of killing them. He or she kills all but one. Day after
day, he or she waits for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If readers pay close attention, the true theme of fighting for survival will float to the
surface. The last surviving woodchuck endured a massive amount. He and his
family survived a homicide attempt referring to the narrator gassing them. Then,
after his family was killed off one by one in a short time span, he was not. He
continued to survive. The last woodchuck has caused the narrator to go mad. He or
she has nothing better to do with her time than to worry about killing the last
woodchuck. This means he has to be on his toes at all times and proceed with caution
in whatever he does. In the end, the father woodchuck survived multiple homicide
attempts and the mass murder of his family. He has survived through thick and thin,
and it is inevitable he will continue to fight for his
Greek Root Astr
Over 60% of the words in the English language contain a Greek or Latin root (

Greek and Latin on the development of the words in the English language. One
commonly used root, astr, has origins in the Greek language ( Alphabetical Index ).
Many words that use the root astr in them relate to stars or space. The root astr,
meaning star, comes from the Greek language, and it !is! used in words such as
astrolabe, astronomy, and astronaut (Harper). The genesis of the root astr occurred
early in the Greek language ( Alphabetical Index ). Greek, an Indo European
language, began in the 14th century BC. The Greek language went through many
changes following its creation and had many important phases. The first phase,
known as the Ancient phase, !was! subdivided into an Archaic period, a Classical
period, and a Hellenistic period. The Roman, Byzantine, and Modern phases followed
the Ancient phase. Greek also had many various dialects which differed in many

Disadvantages Of American Imperialism
European imperialism has evidently modernized many countries across the world,
such as Africa, but not without the cost of many innocent lives in the process. In
1807, the trans Atlantic slave trade had been outlawed by Britain, and by 1833,
slavery itself. With slavery coming to an end, Europe s interests adjusted to
imperialism. Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, and Spain
expanded their territory considerably during this time period, gaining political and
economic power in the process. While the advantages and disadvantages of European
imperialism are apparent, what motivated the Europeans to take this course of action?

The abundance of raw materials found in Africa helped with technological

European nations a gain in power and prestige, as well as a sense of superior
responsibility to civilize colonists. While European imperialism did have its own
benefits, such as modernizing colonies with roads, schools, railroads, and hospitals,
it also had a number of negative effects. While many lives were lost in the process,
they also diminished colonies of their cultural identity, enforcing European values on
natives. In spite of that, European imperialism holds a prominent significance in our

Role of Antigone and Creon The story Antigone is about a tragic hero, written by
Greek writer Sophocles. A protagonist is the central character or leading figure in
poetry, novel, or any other story. A protagonist is sometimes called a hero by the
audience or readers. Antigone is the protagonist character. On the other hand, an
antagonist is a character or a group of characters which stand in opposition to the
protagonist or the main character. The term antagonist comes from Greek word
antagonists that means opponent, competitor, or rival. King Creon is the antagonist
character in the story. The main character Antigone tries to complete her religious
duties showing heroism in the story. In the contrary, King Creon opposes Antigone
showing his antagonistic throne. Antigone is the protagonist because she believes
that she should honor her dead brother. When Creon passes the law to forbid the
burial of her brother, Antigone keeps her determination to complete her religious
duties. For example: she expresses that her death is no importance until and unless
she buried her death brother (Scn 2 Ln 75 80). Furthermore, she believes in
equality because both brothers were killed were killed in their own quarrel, but the
king ordered to bury only Eteocles with honor. For example: she tells Creon that
your order is not the God s proclamation, and final justice. God rules the world below

Critical Study of Animal Attacks and Government Policy
Jungles are calling: Critical Study of animal attacks and government policy
We are fond of progress, mines, speedy trains, luxurious homes, and of smooth
roads and at the same time we want a peace of mind where we can take a rest for
few days in the jungles or in remote area from the chaotic and tensed urban life. That
clearly shows human being has fond of development as well as environment. Over to
the time this fact is accepted that sustainable development and protection of
environment are two side of one coin. Recent incidents shows that supporters of both
the side are conflicting with each other like these are enemies of each other s. Recent
statistics from Maharashtra shows that compensation amount which is given to the
victims of the animal attack is too high and that can be wisely and effectively
invested into the precautionary measures and for the rehabilitation of the animals.
Many animals like elephants, tigers, peacock etc. are getting unnatural death because
of trains in many areas of country. We are using the jungles to build dams, railway
tracks and many things which are for the development of the human fraternity, but at
the same time we are not thoughtful about water places, ways of the animals and
which are resulted into the attack of the animals on people. Even then no one is
serious about preserving jungles. Indian railway has planned to cut down 2800 Km
forest for the widening the railway line in country and the same proposal is pending

Charles Perrault’s Cinderella
In Cinderella by Charles Perrault, the story depicts an imaginative fairytale through
the hardships of a mistreated daughter and the magic of a fairy; in essence, Cinderella
demonstrates that focusing on materialism is more important and more effective
other than working up the path to majesty. Cinderellais a character who is often
mistreated by her stepmother and god sisters. Bearing unsuitable personalities, they
treat her harshly, leaving all of the chores to her. However, she admits that her
tattered clothes are not worthy of a formal event, and continues to be belittled by her
stepsisters. Portrayed with low self esteem and insecurity, she does not respond
harshly to their cruel insults. As a result, the main character relies on... Show more

However, her true beauty lies within her skin, as Perrault s interprets Cinderella as
a hundred times more handsome than her sisters . He aims to focus more on
female recognition and self fulfillment, rather than provide a base for all readers to
understand fully (HuМ€hn). At an elementary level, this may not influence
children to an extent, but other stories that reproduce this same structure of plot
elements could possibly influence children in the future. For instance, she was not
the hero of the story. The Prince isn t the hero until he discovers her lost
possession, a glass slipper, and searched for the person that fits. As told by
Perrault, he had done nothing but look at her all the time, and that most certainly
he was very much in love with the beautiful owner of the glass slipper. This
enforces the fact that her beauty prevails over her actual personality but not
behavior, and the appearance and mannerisms surely impressed the Prince. The
Prince stereotypes the role of women being in need of a destined lover. He is the
one that identifies Cinderella as the one in the dress, though excluding behavior, her
appearance dazzles him for two nights at the ball. Most importantly, he s not the
hero of the fairytale, but readers can interpret the fairy godmother as the savior of
Cinderella s demise. The role of magic comes in part with the acceptance of
achieving the imagery of an elegant woman, impressing the Prince who gains interest
in her. The

The Recession Of The Housing Bubble
The lessons we should have learned should include the fact that we were warned and
paid no attention.
Folks like Professor Schiller began warning us of the housing bubble starting as early
as 2000, he was followed by G Edward Griffin and Jeffery Robert Hunn and they
were followed by many others. The point being that we did know and could have
avoided at least some of the pain; and we also could have heeded the lessons of
history that the great depression showed us!
In early 2006 President Bush said... If houses get too expensive, people will stop
buying them.
What happened in a nut shell was in March of 2007 housing prices fell and home
owner s equity was wiped out, if they had a mortgage it was often more than the

Investors were making a killing on these foreclosed homes no one knew what to do
with!
While all of these homes had been being built there was also a great need by poorer
folks who needed housing, but could not afford to purchase a home. There were
great long lines for apartments and no one was interested in building apartments.
Many of the investors had homes they did not need to live in themselves and so they
are willing and happy to rent them out to those folks who could not afford to
purchase a home and could not find an apartment to rent.
So to recap: The investors are getting rich off the cheap homes they have purchased,
would be apartment renters are now moving to the suburbs and living in family style
homes they are renting from the investors; but what has happened to the home
owners who have been displaced from their homes?
Well the displaced home owners began to get creative. Many went back to the old
tradition of multi generational housing. Adult children found they could once again
live with their parents and their parents had the time committed to having a good
credit rating so home ownership could once again be accomplished in this way.
Some went to house swapping and this also worked well because the millennium
adult children would be looking for a larger home for a growing family and the baby
boomer parents would be looking to downsizing as they would now need less space,
therefore

Case Study Of Ducati
Answer for No. 3:
In my opinion, as the main market of the company, Ducati is in Italy, hence it might
be adventurous if they are focusing its business strategy on electronic commerce. This
is because the rate of internet penetration in Italy is the lowest in Western Europe,
where only 9% of the 57 million population who are using the internet in June 1999.
This might become a risk to the company as if Ducati is fully focusing on electronic
commerce, there is a high probability that their target customer might fall into the
range of 91% of 57 million population who are not using the internet, hence the sales
of the company might drop as the existing or potential customer is less likely to use

The Struggle Between Pedro And Pedro
A social event, according to dictionary.reference.com, is an event characteristic of
persons forming groups. Social groups are definitely formed and reaffirmed in the
passage. In this particular battle, many involved would argue that there is no social
aspect, but racial and familial tensions prove the opposite. These social aspects are
made more interesting as we look deeper into the individual characters and
components of the fight. How does Pedro s repetition and description affect our
perception of him? What is different about Peter that makes him separate from the
other men? How does mob mentality affect the situation? Does Peter truly believe
that he can prevent the fight? How does Peter s point of view change the reader s

Why is this? Because Peter is the narrator and is also on Pedro s side, he naturally
makes Pedro appear more innocent than he actually is. Besides this, there is also
contrast between Pedro and the rest of the men that make him seem more lifelike
and therefore easier to sympathize with. Pedro is immediately described as the
grandfather everyone adores, and the neatness of his outfit makes him come
across as innocent. Through an initial reading, we perceive him as a man who can
do no wrong even though this is not necessarily true. Also, the fact that he invites
his new enemies into his house makes us feel that he has nothing to hide and is
superior to those who wish to murder him. However, his only other option is a
battle, which, as we know, will definitely cause him defeat. If we look at his offer
this way, we learn that he is not being friendly, he is just hoping to avoid the death
of all of his family, for which we cannot blame him. Another message that is easily
looked over is the scaffold metaphor. It is referring to a person climbing up to be
hanged. This metaphor, created by Peter, highlights just how nervous Pedro is and
that his doing so is the first step to his death. With this deeper meaning in mind, we
can fully understand just how much sympathy Peter has for Pedro. Although Peter
may view Pedro as already dead, we must also assess how the metaphor affects us.
Peter s narration causes us to believe that Pedro is innocent as we have seen no
evidence to the contrary. It is known that in American culture that we tend to root for
the underdogs. Therefore, despite all of Peter s descriptions, which pull at our
emotions, we will naturally cheer for Pedro anyway. Although they may not change,
we need to reevaluate our feelings towards Pedro because of all these facts that Peter
uses that causes us to subconsciously feel for

me, but I m going to keep trying. As hard as it may seem, I know that I can reach the
surface for a breath, but I am unaware of how long it will take me before I
Equal Pay Act And Title Ix
It is the year 2016, the United States has had its first African American president, gay
marriage is legalized, and women and men are supposedly seen as equals in the
workplace and educational institutions. It is important to note that while steps to
equality have been made through the Equal Pay Act and Title IX, gender
discrimination is still prevalent in society. The NCAA reported since 1988, in the
2007 2008 academic year, institutions yielded a net gain of 2, 342 women s teams
added to varsity rosters (Pickett, Dawkins, Braddock, 2012). There are now more than
174,000 female collegiate athletes thanks to Title IX (Koller, 2010). Though there has
been a substantial increase in female athletic participation, this number is still
nowhere near the participation of male athletes. Many women still do not participate
in sports due to discrimination and the concept of equality in Title IX could
potentially affect women s interest in athletic participation.
Sports teach important life lessons such as teamwork, discipline, leadership and time
management that benefit males and females alike. Women who participate in sports
are more likely to have a higher self esteem, positive body image, better physical and
mental health and greater educational success. Youth who participate in athletics
learn positive social behaviors, have better academic performance and have lower
participation rates in destructive decisions such as drugs, alcohol and pregnancy. The
number of positive
My Life I Have Been Exposed With Little Diversity Essay
Throughout my life I have been exposed to little diversity. I grew up in what is
considered to be the whitest city in America , in schools that were even less
diverse. In fact, I went to the third richest public high school per capita in the
country with a student body that was 98% white. It may seem like I am flaunting
myself, however, it is the opposite. Growing up in a city neighborhood where I was
rarely exposed to outside affliction, I never truly grasped the true meaning of
freedom . Of course, like in most schools, my professors would discuss it in class,
but it is impossible to comprehend a concept without experiencing, witnessing or
reading about it in depth. Throughout high school, freedom to me was refusing a
curfew and staying up late with friends, aware, but rarely caring about went on
outside my bubble. Despite not accepting it at the time, I was what most upper
middle class white kids are. Ignorant.
Fortunately, I decided to branch out and travel more than 3,000 miles to come to a
small liberal arts college (little did I know that one class would change my
perspective on freedom entirely). Throughout the term nearly all the books had a
theme of freedom, however, five stood out in particular Democracy and Its Global
Roots by Amartya Sen, On Liberty by John Stuart Mill and The Republic by Plato,
The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels and Omelas by Ursula
le Guin. Throughout the semester Human Experience gave me the opportunity to
branch out

  • 2. Examples Of Ice In Jane Eyre Fire and Ice and Everything Nice Throughout the nineteenth century, women were expected to conform to the ideal standard of femininity set before them to be accepted within society. However, in Charlotte Bronte s novel Jane Eyre, Jane paves the path for her own destiny without sacrificing her passions and desires. Jane encounters both fire and ice characters and environments throughout the entirety of the novel, which ultimately refine instead of defining her. According to one author, women s salvation typically depended on men s understanding of God s will, and St. John is no exception (Lamonaca 248). St. John s insistency that Jane come to India with him is because he believes that God has called her to missionary work. As Thomas Langford states in his article, Prophetic Imagination and the Unity of Jane Eyre, the spiritual (if not the physical) death toward which Jane is tempted by St. John s proposal of a marriage without love and a missionary service without dedication fascinates Jane, even though she knows that the occupation would ultimately kill her (232). While Jane is drawn to St. John due to his icy nature, she recognizes that becoming St. John s missionary partner and wife would destroy her. St. John and Jane are opposites of each other, both in personality and religious expression. While Jane has a passionate and intimate relationship with Christ, St. John practices his faith through diligence in works and obedience. Franklin observes that St. John s lack of spirit is the reason Jane cannot abandon half of herself or claims to love her whole self (468). Despite the time gap from when she has last been with Mr. Rochester, Jane often thinks of him and has mixed feelings on what she should do regarding St. John s proposal. Langford observes the notion that Jane would satisfy her love in violation of convention
  • 3. Essay about The Public-Private Prison Debate California is suffering from a crisis in the prison system. Its facilities are operating at double capacity and grossly deficient medical care is the cause of at least one inmate death per week (Wood, 2008, para. 2). Because of this need for reform, the federal government is stepping in to direct the state prisons operating procedure. Although the financial choices of each state should be free from federal control, the federal governmentis still known to put pressure on states to make decisions, especially when lawsuits arise. An example of federal legislation commanding state behavior is busing. The states felt that they should have the autonomy to decide whether racial integration was right for them. The federal government,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this fiscal pressure, governments are looking for alternatives to the public prison system. The predominant idea for reformation is privatization of prisons. Journals abound with responses to this idea including Ph.D. Gaes s article in the National Institute of Justice Journal, L. Beaty s article in The Case Journal, and R. Culp s article in the Criminal Justice Policy Review. In Gaes s article, his problem with the decision to transfer prisons into private hands is the lack of concrete evidence whether the concept is actually a means of savings or not. His point is that the studies that have been done bear completely different results, causing a discrepancy about actual savings. His example illustrates two different studies, one conducted by the Abt and another by the BOP. The Abt used actual figures from a public prison that was much smaller than the private prison in question. In doing so, the numbers were slanted towards favoring the privatization of prisons, as they were able to save more money per inmate by doing business on a larger scale. The BOP study, on the other hand, estimated what expenditures would have existed for identically sized prisons, making the comparison more realistic (2008, para. 2). His final conclusion is that further studies are necessary to determine whether the proponents of privatization are fundamentally correct in their
  • 4. The Puritan Settlers And How Puritanism Involved Aspects... In one of the stories about the American founding, settlers that came to America inherited a vast, unpopulated land . Due to the abundance of land, settlers did not have to fight for resources . Therefore, everyone had had an equal opportunity and it followed that there was no need for a hierarchical feudalistic system in order to distribute the land . This in turn became the foundation of American liberal thought. Additionally, the settlers had also adopted some ancient republican ideas and this led to the creation of a complex American political thought with characteristics of both liberalismand republicanism. Although both paradigms seem to contradict each other to a large extent and hence one would expect that both paradigms may be unable to coexist in the same political environment, in this essay, I argue that in American politics, liberalism and republicanism coexist, interact and overlap to a large extent. This is illustrated in the adoption of both paradigms by the settlers of the New World. For this essay, I will focus specifically on the Puritan settlers and how Puritanism involved aspects of both republicanism and liberalism. Additionally, I will illustrate how both paradigms are also present to a large extent in the respective, uniquely American arguments of both the anti federalists and federalists and in the Constitution and its 10 amendments. For the purposes of this essay, I define liberalism as a school of political thought concerned with liberty,

Thomas Jefferson was against the formation of a centralized bank, but Alexander Hamilton contended that it was necessary to create a centralized bank for carrying out the powers specifically granted to congress (American History 1994). According to the Constitution the national government was authorized to levy and collect taxes, pay debts, and borrow money. Myths certainly had a simple aesthetic function of entertainment; they were presented through the means of visual and theatrical art (Cartwright. M, 2012). Myths provided advice on how to lead a good life. Some myths were purposely composed to be outrageous and wrong because it taught the people what not to do. Myths, however, were also thought to be a reflection of the Greek s way of thinking; this was depicted through them portraying their deities as humans, giving them human traits (Vandiver. E, 2000). Myths explained the environment in which humankind lived in and the natural phenomena they witnessed (Vandiver. E, 2000). They were also intricately connected to religion in the Greek world and explained the origin of Gods and where humanity had come from and where humans would go after death (Mark. J, 2012). • 19. The Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis 2400 years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown with rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed through the nose cause dangerous diseases. In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time, sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple organ dysfunction syndromes. The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical symptoms are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of bacteria in blood in combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections. A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft Excel chart. The chart would record how many movements the knight would have to take, how many steps were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o and movements up or down. The decision was also made to declare that each square the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step and whether the knight turned or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1 movement (see Appendix A). The protocol was later revised in its second commitment period stating that an 18% cut (compared with 1990) in emissions between 2013 2020 would be its next target. The Kyoto Protocol created three market based mechanisms...known as the carbon market to support its targets (UNFCCC). These mechanisms covered emissions trading, the clean development mechanism (CDM) and joint implementation. Combined, the mechanisms are geared towards encouraging sustainable development using technology and investment, reducing emissions in an economically viable way and stimulating developing countries to reduce their emissions too. International cooperation was essential for the Kyoto Protocol to be enforced and achieve its aims. As the protocol seeks to reduce greenhouse emissions globally, efforts are needed from all industrialised countries emitting harmful gases into the Earth s atmosphere. Without adequate participation

How Did Merce Cunningham Develop His Dance Merce Cunningham followed the unique body movements and the use of contracting and releasing, as well as the acceptance of gravity, that Martha Graham employs in her choreography. He also infuses the technical aspects of ballet into his dance, Cunningham has, however, developed his own, unique way to choreograph; a technique in which he believes that danceshould be created. Cunningham s technique is rather unorthodox, as he believes that the music should not dictate the dance, and throws all notions of story and narrative out the window. Cunningham had a very unique ideology in terms of how a dance was to be determined or performed, he rolled dice to decide which way his dancers heads, arms, legs, and feet would combine in a particular position,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new, post modern style of dance emulates the separation that was created between the original traditional dance form of Ballet, to Graham, and even farther to Cunningham, who separates himself from not just the traditional form and technique, but the narratives and the purpose which was set for dance; Cunningham goes so far as to separate his dance from music, literally, practicing and creating a dance with a stop watch, rather than music, only introducing the music in the actual performance. Cunningham would certainly be considered avant garde in terms of dance, and the traditions of story telling. His choreography shows an evolution and separation from the beginning forms of the art, which is even more modern than the modern dance of Graham. Graham s technique influenced Cunningham s style and technique in dance, and he took her concept, which was to turn the idea of what dance should be, on its head, and took it to a completely different realm. Graham asked why gravity and body shapes and movements shouldn t be explored in dance; Cunningham asked why Dance had to be so interconnected to music, why it should be tied to

However, her true beauty lies within her skin, as Perrault s interprets Cinderella as a hundred times more handsome than her sisters . He aims to focus more on female recognition and self fulfillment, rather than provide a base for all readers to understand fully (HuМ€hn). At an elementary level, this may not influence children to an extent, but other stories that reproduce this same structure of plot elements could possibly influence children in the future. For instance, she was not the hero of the story. The Prince isn t the hero until he discovers her lost possession, a glass slipper, and searched for the person that fits. As told by Perrault, he had done nothing but look at her all the time, and that most certainly he was very much in love with the beautiful owner of the glass slipper. This enforces the fact that her beauty prevails over her actual personality but not behavior, and the appearance and mannerisms surely impressed the Prince. The Prince stereotypes the role of women being in need of a destined lover. He is the one that identifies Cinderella as the one in the dress, though excluding behavior, her appearance dazzles him for two nights at the ball. Most importantly, he s not the hero of the fairytale, but readers can interpret the fairy godmother as the savior of Cinderella s demise. The role of magic comes in part with the acceptance of achieving the imagery of an elegant woman, impressing the Prince who gains interest in her. The

The point being that we did know and could have avoided at least some of the pain; and we also could have heeded the lessons of history that the great depression showed us! In early 2006 President Bush said... If houses get too expensive, people will stop buying them. While all of these homes had been being built there was also a great need by poorer folks who needed housing, but could not afford to purchase a home. Many of the investors had homes they did not need to live in themselves and so they are willing and happy to rent them out to those folks who could not afford to purchase a home and could not find an apartment to rent. So to recap: The investors are getting rich off the cheap homes they have purchased, would be apartment renters are now moving to the suburbs and living in family style homes they are renting from the investors; but what has happened to the home owners who have been displaced from their homes? Well the displaced home owners began to get creative. Many went back to the old tradition of multi generational housing. Adult children found they could once again live with their parents and their parents had the time committed to having a good credit rating so home ownership could once again be accomplished in this way. Some went to house swapping and this also worked well because the millennium adult children would be looking for a larger home for a growing family and the baby boomer parents would be looking to downsizing as they would now need less space, therefore

How does Peter s point of view change the reader s point of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is this? Because Peter is the narrator and is also on Pedro s side, he naturally makes Pedro appear more innocent than he actually is. Besides this, there is also contrast between Pedro and the rest of the men that make him seem more lifelike and therefore easier to sympathize with. Pedro is immediately described as the grandfather everyone adores, and the neatness of his outfit makes him come across as innocent. Through an initial reading, we perceive him as a man who can do no wrong even though this is not necessarily true. Also, the fact that he invites his new enemies into his house makes us feel that he has nothing to hide and is superior to those who wish to murder him. However, his only other option is a battle, which, as we know, will definitely cause him defeat. If we look at his offer this way, we learn that he is not being friendly, he is just hoping to avoid the death of all of his family, for which we cannot blame him. Another message that is easily looked over is the scaffold metaphor. It is referring to a person climbing up to be hanged. This metaphor, created by Peter, highlights just how nervous Pedro is and that his doing so is the first step to his death. With this deeper meaning in mind, we can fully understand just how much sympathy Peter has for Pedro. Although Peter may view Pedro as already dead, we must also assess how the metaphor affects us. Peter s narration causes us to believe that Pedro is innocent as we have seen no evidence to the contrary. It is known that in American culture that we tend to root for the underdogs. Therefore, despite all of Peter s descriptions, which pull at our emotions, we will naturally cheer for Pedro anyway. Although they may not change, we need to reevaluate our feelings towards Pedro because of all these facts that Peter uses that causes us to subconsciously feel for

Equal Pay Act And Title Ix It is the year 2016, the United States has had its first African American president, gay marriage is legalized, and women and men are supposedly seen as equals in the workplace and educational institutions. It is important to note that while steps to equality have been made through the Equal Pay Act and Title IX, gender discrimination is still prevalent in society. The NCAA reported since 1988, in the 2007 2008 academic year, institutions yielded a net gain of 2, 342 women s teams added to varsity rosters (Pickett, Dawkins, Braddock, 2012). There are now more than 174,000 female collegiate athletes thanks to Title IX (Koller, 2010). Though there has been a substantial increase in female athletic participation, this number is still nowhere near the participation of male athletes. Many women still do not participate in sports due to discrimination and the concept of equality in Title IX could potentially affect women s interest in athletic participation. Growing up in a city neighborhood where I was rarely exposed to outside affliction, I never truly grasped the true meaning of freedom .
