White Beauty Perceptions In The Bluest Eye By Toni Morrison
The Bluest Eye is a story written by Toni Morrison in 1970. The Bluest Eye gives readers a deep
descriptions of the ways white beauty standards deformed the lives of blacks girls and
women.provides an extended depiction of the ways in which internalized white beauty
standards deform the lives of black girls and women. Pecola let white beauty standards deform
her life. People believe that having the bluest eyes would change the way people viewed her and
her view of others. Whiteness being superior is shown throughout the entire text through
implicit messages. The title of the story explains the book basically. Pecola had a strong
aspiration for blue eyes. She had a certain insight on having blue eyes that wasn t necessarily
correct. Pecola didn t believe she was up to the beauty standards of the society. She honestly
believed that the cruel things she is put through on the daily is the effect of how she is seen by
others. She has a honest feeling that if she obtains blue eyes people will look at her and treat her
differently because she feels like she ll be closer to the beauty standards and being accepted.
The thought process of Pecola was that if she had those pretty blue eyes people would not want
to do negative things to or in front of her. The accuracy of this insight is confirmed by many of
her daily experiences. There was a few times Pecola along with her family were being mistreated
because of the color of their skin, which is showing how whites were superior

Coastal Storms Affecting Connecticut s Coastal Populations
Sea level rise caused by global warming poses clear threats to coastal populations in Connecticut.
In fact, models have depicted that the rate of global sea level rise could elevate by two to five
times by the end of this century, and this will affect the health of residents and the state s economy
due to increase the impacts of coastal storms in urban areas (Gornitz et al., 2004). Reports have
shown that Connecticut s coastline has historically been at risk due to coastal storms (Frumhoff et
al., 2007). For instance, a 2007 synthesis report of Northeast ClimateImpacts Assessment (NECIA)
suggested that there might be an increase in the number of winter storms received in coastal
Connecticut (particularly late in the winter). Also, in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reports revealed that by 2080s, the projected flood heights for locations in Connecticut (e.g.,
Norwalk, Westport, Bridgeport, Greenwich Cove, Shippan Point, Stamford, and Stratford)
could range from 11.5 to 13 feet for a Category 1 hurricane, and 14.5 to 15.7 feet for a Category 3
storm (Gornitz et al., 2004). Therefore, rising sea level could account for 18 22% of the
increase in flood height (in the high sea level rise scenario) or 6 8% in the lower case (Gornitz et
al., 2004). With the rising sea level, floods generated by storms of this magnitude could approach
18 feet by the 2080s (Gornitz et al., 2004). The increase in the projected flood level cities in
Connecticut will be greatly affected such as Bridgeport and New Haven. As an illustration, a
significant portion of both Bridgeport and New Haven lies within the high risk flood zone, and
during severe storms this place a large population, private property, and infrastructure at high risk.
In New Haven, some infrastructures that are at risk include the New Haven railroad station and

Food And Beverage Manager Oversees
A food and beverage manager oversees all operations related to food and beverage in an institution.
This may include budgeting, handling profit and loss, planning a menu, advertising the
establishment etc. Their job involves constantly coming up with innovative ideas to ensure the
restaurant can face competition and keep up with the ever changing foodindustry. They also
establish proper communication between the front and back of house staff to ensure smooth
functioning in the restaurant. While deciding and implementing any changes in a menu or menu
style, a lot of factors need to be considered like the effect on labour cost, food cost, level of skill
required to make the items on the menu, budget etc.
In the case discussed, the manager decides to introduce an all you can eat buffet concept during
the week as the restaurant is unoccupied. She feels it is a good way to draw in more customers
and increase the clientele base for the weekends. The report states that the average food spend is
$37.10 and the average beverage spend is $19.80. For the all you can eat buffet, the prices have
been reduced to $28.90 per person, with the children s buffet priced at $13.50 each. This will
reduce the average food spend by $8.2 per person, thus leading to a reduction in the total revenue.
This concept is referred to as value pricing which is the practice of reducing prices on selected
menu items in the belief that, total guest counts will increase to the point that total sales

The republicans un doubly dominated the political system in the 1920 s. The republicans had 3
presidents elected in the 1920 s. These three presidents were Warren G. Harding, Calvin

appeal to the people using these, they also made use of advertising to its fullest extent. While the
Democrats ran an ineffective campaign, the republicans made excellent use of advertising. Of the

Pros And Cons Of Microfossil
There s a new digital map limning the composition of the seafloor, and it s shown evidence of
microfossil graveyards off the coast of Australia, in addition to other complex deep ocean
geology. The interactive map is actually available via the online journal Geology, published
August 9th. This marks a first at creating an extensive, comprehensive map in the past 40 years.
There hasn t been a single attempt at such a map since the 1970s, which the University of Sydney
has announced was drawn by hand. The old map suggests much of the Southern Ocean around
Australia is mainly covered by clay blown off the continent, whereas our map shows this area is
actually a complex patchwork of microfossil remains, said study author Adriana Dutkiewicz, a
sedimentologist at the University of Sydney in a statement. Life in the Southern Ocean is much
richer than previously thought. The microfossils discovered are actually from a type of
phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these
phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in the air, air we need to breathe. When
they die, diatoms sink down to the dark musty abyssal of the oceans, dragging all the their carbon
with them. This process is referred to as carbon sink, and it helps prevent the... Show more content

Continuing our studies of these underwater distributions of dead diatoms will help us come to
understand how oceans reacted to eras of greater climate change in the past, said Dutkiewicz.

light green is diatom ooze, which is a mix of mud and diatom bits; blue is calcareous ooze, which

Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Essay
An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction
Introduction
The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of concentration of a
stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by measuring the amount of a reactant
used up per unit of time or the amount of a product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be
made to go faster or slower by changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur
certain things are necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have
enough energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and new
bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be successful in
breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are moving more slowly.
Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of thumb when the temperature increases
by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly doubles.
The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles of reactant are
present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision occurring. In dilute acids, with
fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is reduced.
Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also applies in
reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same effect as increasing the
concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction
without itself being used up. Catalysts are usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst,
less energy is needed by a collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more
successful collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a change
in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate (marble chips) and
hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is:
Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium
Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride
CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +

Trickery or Treat in Richard the Third Essays
Trickery or Treat in Richard the Third
In the play Richard III , Richard s trickery and manipulation ultimately leads to his downfall. His
goals are based on what he can get from others and how they can help him, not on helping
himself. This paper shows how Richard uses his skills of trickery and manipulation to not only
move up on the hierarchy, but to actually get elected king. He uses his trickery to get Anne his
wife to help move up his position on the hierarchy; he uses his trickery to get elected and to get his
men to fight for him and not for the better of the country.
Throughout the play Richard uses his trickery to persuade people to see things his way. In his
conversation with Anne, he makes her believe that her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making Anne believe him was easy due to his skills to trick and manipulate others into thinking
his way. During the whole play Richard s evil ways are easy to see for the reader, but for other
characters in the play it was not so easy. He tricked and persuaded them to elect him king without
even mentioning it. When there was no one else before him on the hierarchy he had them believe
he was a holy man that was not suitable for the throne. This was all a disguise for them to just
hand over the throne and practically beg him to be king. This is best shown in the conversation
between Richard, Buckingham, Catesby, Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and citizens when Richard
tells them Alas, why would you heap this care on me? / I am unfit for state and majesty. / I do
beseech you take it not amiss, / I cannot nor I will not yield to you. (Act III, Scene vii p.145)
Here Richard is using reverse psychology to make them think he was such a humble man. When
actually he is a power hungry and very conceited man; he only does things when the outcome
benefits him. He doesn t care about others, he represents everything a king should go against:
greed, manipulation, and gaining power. In Richard s last battle he makes his men believe
Richmond and Richmond s men are bad by tricking them. His men do not follow him because they
trust him, but rather, they follow him because they are manipulated

Why Some Birds Would Survive And Reproduce More On Certain...
1.Explain why some bird types would survive and reproduce more on certain islands.
Some bird types would survive and reproduce more on certain islands because it depends on the
climate and the environment. Also, it depends on the types of beaks that birds have and the food
that is available in that Island. In other words, birds can only survive and reproduce more if they
are adapted to that environment like the climate in that island and their specific type of food/habitat
they need to survive.
2. How would this affect the appearance of future generations of birds on these islands?

Creation from the Rig Veda on page 15 in Fiero s The Humanistic Tradition, Book 1, with The
Babylonian Creation myth on page 19 to 20 in Fiero s The Humanistic Tradition, Book 1. The
Song of Creation from the Rig Veda on page 15 originates from India. Meanwhile The Babylonian
Creation myth on page 19 to 20 originated from Babylon. The main differences between these two
creation myths is that the first creation mythis based on the importance of water as the necessary

The primary source narrates about how back then before the universe was created, there was no
existence, no death or immortality (Fiero 15). It also raises questions about the creation of the
universe such as What covered it? Where was it? In whose keeping? (Fiero 15). These shows the
uncertainty of how the universe came to be. Meanwhile in The Babylonian Creation myth, it
narrates or tells the story about not only how the universe was created, but also how the gods
entered the world, how the earth came to be, as well as the creation of Babylon and humans (Fiero
19). In the first myth, the universe was created when That One which came to be enclosed in
nothing, arose at last, born of the power of heat (Fiero 15). In my opinion, one canthink that
back in the time, the people who created this myth believed in a geocentric view of the universe
where Earth was in the center. And that that One came to be the sun which gave light to the
world and allowed the prospering of plants and life. Some imagery found in this primary source
were darkness wrapped in darkness , only illumined water cosmic waters, in depths unfathomed,
(Fiero 15). These forms of imagery depicts or describes what the universe was like before the
that One arose. The order of creation in this myth seems to be that of the One being in the empty
universe before anything else and then when that One arose, he or she brought heat as well as
light in the world which most likely led to the beginning of light in the world leading to life. In
this creation myth, one can feel like the One is the universe or the creation because according to
lines 23, it states The gods themselves are later than creation (Fiero 15). So one can feel like the
universe created the gods not the other way around. In the text, life began with the arrival

centuries, poetry is an outlet for writers to communicate their innermost emotions and convictions.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of a poem is its ability to draw in the reader and hold that
attention so that the reader cannot do anything else. Written in free verse, the poem Beware: Do
Not Read This Poem by Ishmael Reed compares the habits of an eccentric woman to the
hypnotizing powers of a poem. Various uses of structure, tone, and poetic devices help establish the

The poem s nontraditional structure contributes to the theme of isolation. Throughout the
entirety of the poem, there is an obvious lack of punctuation and proper spelling. This style can
best be shown in the first stanza: tonite, thriller was / abt an ol woman, so vain she / surrounded
her self w/ / many mirrors (1 4). The evident misspelling of the words tonight and about along
with the abbreviations of old and with support the poem s bizarre set up. Within the poem Reed
constructs a whole new style of writing, differentiating itself from the common structural
expectations. A further example of structural uncommonness leading to theme is the various
spaces inserted throughout the poem. In the last few lines the speaker informs its audience
about the statistic of missing persons in the U.S. [Thousands upon thousands leave no clues]

Features Selection Algorithm For Selecting Relevant Features
Abstract Process of selecting relevant features from available dataset is known as features selection.
Feature selection is use to remove or reduce redundant and irrelevant features. Various feature
selection algorithms such as CFS (correlation feature selection), FCBF (Fast Correlation Based
Filter) and CMIM (Conditional Mutual Information Maximization) are used to remove redundant
and irrelevant features. To determine efficiency and effectiveness is the aim of feature selection
algorithm. Time factor is denoted by efficiency and quality factor is denoted by effectiveness of
subset of features. Problem of feature selection algorithm is accuracy is not guaranteed,
computational complexity is large, ineffective at removing redundant features. To overcome these
problems Fast Clustering based feature selection algorithm (FAST) is used. Removal of irrelevant
features, construction of MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) from relative one and partition of MST
and selecting representative features using kruskal s method are the three steps used by FAST
algorithm.
Index Terms Feature subset selection, graph theoretic clustering, FAST
I.INTRODUCTION
Feature subset selection can be viewed as the method of identifying and removing a lot of
unrelated and unnecessary features as probable because (i) unrelated features do not give the
predictive correctness (ii) unnecessary features do not redound to receiving a superior predictor for
that they give main data which is previously

Why I Don t Have A Home
In life, our goal is to find a place we belong. Some people find their belongingness in their craft.
Some find it in success. One may find it at their home. But for me? I don t have a home. The
year is 750 AD and I live in the capital of The Tang Dynasty(618 907), Chang an; the cultural
center where you can thrive as a person; making me part of Ancient China s Golden Age( Ancient
China For Kids 6). However, I don t feel my sense of belonging here. I m in a place I didn t ask to
be in: being a young orphan girl, trying to make a living on my own. I have no relation with the
top class imperial family, nor am I involved with any sort of aristocracy. Although, maybe if I were
a man, I would be able to study and work my way up to bureaucracy at least. However, that is not
the case; I am not a eunuch nor can I be a religious official! Therefore, I am a very low class; a
peasant orphan( Tang DynastySocial Structure 3). I wonder who could throw me out of this
helpless position. Shall I sell myself to slavery and be the lowest of the low? But then I
remember it is illegal to sell a free person into slavery( History of Slavery in China 3). What
could this mean for me then? If I am forced to be free, what good could it be? One may have
heard that women are more free in the Tang Dynasty just because we have a woman in power,
Empress Wu! Although this may be true, only women in relations with high class or aristocracy
are far more able to move up and get involved in

Difference Between Mac And Pc
Difference between Mac and Pc
The world we live in today is getting very radical changes since the invention of computer. And
from time to time lots of changes have come in this field. Mac and Pc is the most popular
computer. They both have some different feature from each other in contrast software and
hardware. Let s start with knowing what exactly these two computers are.
Mac
Macintosh or mostly known as Mac was invented by Apple Company in January 24, 1984. Steve
jobs invented Mac, and since that the development towards its new versions continued and it has
achieved an unique basement in the modern technology of computers.
PC
PC, or personal computer s invention was started before macintosh or mac which was 1977.

While they both have the same internal parts such as the Ram, Processor, Hard Drive etc. the
speed and capacity of these components vary. Macs will generally outperform low end PCs,
because the Apple product lines typically boast more expensive and better quality parts.
Comparing Macs with higher end PCs is a little more difficult. Generally, though, Macs have faster
processors than their Windows counterparts but tend to skimp slightly when it comes to RAM, hard
disk space and USB ports.
The kinds of connections and optical drives found on Macs and PCs also differ in certain ways.
Macs offer a pretty standard selection of such features, including a SuperDrive (reads and writes
CDs and DVDs), audio in and audio out, USB, FireWire (data transfer), Thunderbolt (video
output), Ethernet, and a magnetized power port. PCs offer comparable features, plus a few more,
like Blu ray players, TV tuners, touch screens and HDMI ports.
Graphics: One of the most Attracted feature in any computer is the Graphics Hardwares and both
Mac and PC has filled up their customers desires. The Mac uses Intel Irish graphic. It gives high
quality multimedia experience. Some of pc company also introducing Irish graphics in their
hardware. This newest discovery of Irish Intel graphic is most powerful product of Intel, built right
into the processor.

An Analysis Of Maggie Johnson s The Great Gatsby
Maggie Johnson first came into my attention when she was found lying in the filth of a darken
ally way in Bowery. She was taken into a local hospital where she was treated for dehydration for
minor cuts. The medical staff contacted me to see if we could set up an appointment to meet
with one another. Maggie is a twenty one year old, Caucasian female. During my first meeting
with her, I noted that Maggie was a very beautiful young lady although she looked very tired,
there were dark circles under her eyes, and her hair was greasy as if she had not bathed in days,
she was thin, and there were bruises covering her body. Maggie s was currently working as a
prostitution. Maggie comes from a very strained family life, living in poverty. She lives in a
horrific tenement in the Bowery neighborhood of New York s Lower East Side, with her two
younger brothers, Jimmie and Tommie. Jimmie is hardened against any sympathy due to the
years he spent on the streets fighting with gangs and is currently working as a truck driver.
Tommie was the infant of the family who passed away at a young age. The tenement is filled
with argumentative feelings amongst her parents. Mary Johnson, Maggie s mother, is an
alcoholic and very aggressive. She has been noted for torturing Maggie with hateful words over
actions that she has done. Mr. Johnson, the father, was also very aggressive with his children and
an alcoholic like his wife, he too passed away. Maggie had a relationship with a friend of

Native Title Analysis
between persons of different colour, race, national or ethnic origin so that one group enjoys a right
to a lesser extent than a person from another then, by force of the commonwealth law they shall
enjoy the right to same extent. The operation of the provision of the Act was summarised in
passage from the joint judgement in Mabo (No1).
The decision saw an exponential increase in cultural and economic resurgence fundamentally oiled
by the judgement. This case also established two basic principles for determining the existence of
common law native title. Thus the recognition of aboriginal people s law and customs in relation to
the determination , and its twin concept of extinguishment of common law native title. In response

The Native Title Act 1993 was legislated following the decision in Mabo (No2). The Act itself
extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nulliusand instead established native title rights. Terra
Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means Land belonging to no
one . Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native
title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised
legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the
indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land.
There were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and
indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that
their traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land
titles of the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo
(No2) depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that
with the acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown s
automatically. So this practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre existing
aboriginal law in the form of native title. The Mabo case undoubtedly changed this notion by
identifying that radical title, rather than absolute beneficial ownership was a concomitant of

The Benefits Of Water Fluoridation
Water fluoridation was first implemented in the USA in 1945 and since then there are around 25
countries in the world that receive fluoridated water and around 10% of the UK population.
Fluoridation schemes started when a significant association of fluoride and lower incidence of tooth
decays was noticed, in naturally occurring fluoridated areas with 1mg/L of fluoride. Therefore,
fluoride has been added where needed, in order to obtain the optimal concentration of around 1mg
/L. This concentration is determined the optimal, as it is where the public gets the maximum
prevention of dental caries with the minimum adverse effects. In the UK, Birmingham was the first
city that introduced fluoridation and it was estimated that between 1970 and 1980,... Show more

About 50% of ingested fluoride is excreted through urine within 24 hours (Peter Gluckman;
David Skegg, 2014). Various factors may affect its bioavailability, for instance when it is
ingested with food it delays its absorption. The solubility and the complex formulation may also
reduce the extent of absorption. Unbounded free ions of fluoride are distributed via the
circulation throughout the intracellular and extracellular body fluids with volume of distribution
of 0.5 0.7 L/kg (WHO 2000). Plasma concentration is affected by the renal status and urinary pH,
for example people with low glomerular filtration rate have increased plasma fluoride
concentration, thus increased levels of fluoride in tissues and consequently are more susceptible
to fluorosis (Peter Gluckman; David Skegg, 2014). Excretion may also occur through faeces and
sweat. The remaining amount deposits and retains in bones and teeth, where it incorporates into
the crystal network. Bone retention reflects long term exposure to fluoride and is affected by the
factors such as age, sex and type of bone. Young children with growing bones have much higher
retention of fluoride compared to adults. Fluoride may also be released back to the circulation
when bones are remodeled, therefore plasma levels switch according to this exchange between
bones and circulation. It is also released

The Nature Of Good And Evil In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula expressed the nature of good and evil. An English realtor, Jonathan
Harker, journeyed to Transylvania in order to complete a sale for a residence in London to a
Transylvanian vampire, Count Dracula. What Harker did not know was that Dracula wanted to
move to England so he can expand his power, creating a new monarchy of vampires.
The Christian religion depicted many instances throughout Dracula. Early in the novel, Harker was
preparing his journey to Dracula s castle until an innkeeper s wife put a crucifix around his neck
saying it was the eve of St. George s Day, when all the evil things in the world will have full sway.
Crucifixes were a way to show that Christian objects promised protection from evil. The

physical appearance; he had long, sharp fangs, fiery red eyes, and pointed ears. Dracula also had
many abilities that are typically awarded strictly to God; he can control animals, the weather, and
shapeshift. Christians believed that the consumption of God s body and blood through communion
will give them everlasting life with God in heaven. Dracula consumed human blood in order to
remain undead and to have strength. His horrific actions embodied the complete opposite of the
God. Not only did these actions illustrated the opposition of the two figures but, it also showed
how Dracula bypassed God and went to humans for his restoration in life after death. Therefore, he
shunned God as the supplier of life.
Dracula was as evil as a creature could become and was atrocious in the eyes of the Christian
religion. He was a symbol of the Anti Christ and Satan and the fact that holy items harmed Dracula
meant he was pure evil. In the end, Harker, Van Helsing, Mina, and the love interests of Mina s
friend, Lucy Westenra (Quincey Morris, Jack Seward, and Arthur Holmwood) fought against
Dracula to prevent his evil. The main weapons used against Dracula were sacred utensils. Their
struggle was the battle between the holy and the

Personification In Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, narrates the frustrations of the common people toward
Foulon, a French magistrate. The people rejoice when Foulon is imprisoned since he treated them
awfully. The nature of the French Revolution is the common people s elation at the downfall of the
aristocracy. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship
between the common people and Foulon.
The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal
feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is
portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a
man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and
mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens
illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every
commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is
portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of
their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the
single entity of Saint Antoine.
Grass serves as a powerful motif that reflects the vengeance of the peasants. The French aristocrat
Foulon told the starving people they might eat grass. He has no regard for the

Strength Of Women In The Bean Trees
The strength of the female population is constantly increasing. Women are gaining the courage to
be stronger and more independent. Women are proving that they are just as strong as men, they are

characters going through difficult events, but making it through them with the strength they have

doesn t do much but just being there is enough support for Esperanza. Taylor just has to be there

speaking to them, but also being there to help in a time of need. Taylor takes Esperanza and

atmosphere resembled Manila. The smell of beef marinating in sauce, the warm compact

Even as a stranger in a restaurant, I was made to feel like a part of the community. I walked into

Compare Modern Education In China With The Educational...
1.Compare modern education in China with the educational system prior to 1911. What are the key
similarities and differences between the two?
There have been a lot of educational reforms over the years in which it can be traced as far back
as far as the Shang Dynasty. Education is necessary as it lead to wealth and success, so it was and
still is important to the Chinese people, in the past and now. Which is a similarity, educationhas
always been valued by the people. There was a plan to reform to increase public education and
rebuild the society. In 1911, the difference was that the government was completely forsaken
towards the traditional way of education. Historically, there was a pattern to divide china and the
educational system between private and official, in which there was a purpose to train students to
be better.
2.Using Zhang Yimou s film Not One Less, identify challenges that a migrant from the country to
the city might encounter.
One challenge would be that since it is such a long journey and there isn t a lot of money for
transportation, it typically takes around a month for a migrant to go to the city. They need to
find someone to take care of their jobs or other needs that need to be taken care of while they are
gone. In the case of the video, the teacher had to find a young girl to teach the class while he was
gone. She was inexperienced and didn t have very many talents of her own.
Another challenge that they would have is that they would be very unfamiliar with the city
lifestyle. When the young girl reaches the city she looks to be intrigued with how much is going
on compared to what she had in her village. Also, everything in the city is more expensive for them
coming from poverty.
3.Identify three challenges faced by rural schools in China. Discuss three realistic ways that these
problems might be overcome.
There are a lot of challenges that students and teachers have to face in rural schools in China.
Teachers are very hard to find because a lot of them are not educated. Overtime this can be solved

All of them are distant from the origin or 5 units (kilometers) and that is where the Euclidian and
taxi distance match each other. To find other points, we should move among x axis and then up
and down as far as possible. We have enough fuel for five kilometers in one way, which means that:
|x|+|y|=5
When solving the equation we get: y=5 x for x,y 0 y=x 5 for x 0; y≤0 y= x 5 for x,y≤0
y=x+5 for x≤0;y 0
So when all the functions are drawn we get the final picture of taxi circle.

Evolution Of Human Culture Developed Based On Our Environment
The earth is an ever evolving planet in the universe that has changed dramatically since the
beginning of time. Physically people have seen, measured, and recorded changes in land mass and
population growth in different parts of the world due to supply and demand of resources. Theories
such as the Pangea Theory or the Bering Strait theory have given insight into how humanculture
developed based on our environment. Through the study of history, people can see the course of the
human lineage as well. Human evolutionstarted with the phylogeny Hominoidea, a superfamily
that includes humans and all living apes. Out of Hominoidea, the earliest genus that exists today
is the genus Homo which is comprised of Homo sapiens that includes modern humans, as well as
several extinct species classified as ancestral to or closely related to modern humans. One the
earliest known hominids, a species that comes from the genus homo, is Homo habilis. What makes
Homo habilis special is that it was the first of the human species to have a notable increase in brain

similarities between humans within this common ancestors characteristics.

Major Depressive Disorder Analysis
Many people throughout their lives go through periods of sadness due to various different things
such as grief at the loss of a loved one or a stressful event occurring, and this process is natural,
even a part of human nature, in order to experience all aspects of life and get support from those
around us (Horwitz Wakefield, 2007). However, this organic sadness, as it were, is quite different
from what we call depression as a mental illness; as to say that one has a mood disorder, a number
of symptoms must occur at once and impair functioning of the individual (Ingrim, n.d). To put into
perspective the prevalence of this disorder, over 98 million people are affected globally, with
middle and low income countries more highly afflicted,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the DSM 5, the main feature of mood disorders is a disturbance of mood. One of the
most highly prevalent mood disorders is Major Depressive Disorder, an often chronic and severe
disorder. It is considered a recurrent disorder when not chronic, where clients remit from
depressive episodes and symptoms go away for a period of time but may return at a later time as
part of the same depressive episode, or otherwise recovering from a treated episode but a new
episode recurs later in the future (Hollon, Stewart Strunk, 2006). The current criteria used to
diagnose Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) are as follows; five or more of these symptoms must
be present over a consecutive 2 week period, characterised as a major depressive episode (MDE)
and must be a change from previous functioning, including insomnia or hypersomnia, fatigue,
feelings of worthlessness or guilt, recurrent thoughts of death and/or suicide, significant unusual
weight or appetite loss, reduced ability to think and concentrate. Furthermore, either one of these
following two or both symptoms are a must; depressed mood or diminished interest or pleasure in
all or almost all activities. Children may have irritable moods rather than depressed. Furthermore,
depressed people report less enjoyment in social interactions and lesser social contact than non
depressed people, supported by research showing that depressed people have social cognition
deficits whereby they have difficulty navigating their social environment and impaired interpersonal
functioning (Bora Berk,

Honduras Vs America Research Paper
Did you know that not all teenagers in the world get the opportunity to go to school? In the United
States, teenagers and even adults are so accustomed to school being required. They are unaware
that it is not like that in all parts of the world. In third world countries, like Honduras, teenagers do
not get to go to school unless they are sponsored, because they cannot afford books, school
supplies, school clothes, or shoes. It is not that these teenagers in Honduras choose not to go to
school, but more of the fact that they do not have the money to attend school. Although there is a
definite difference between high schoolstudents in the U.S. and in Honduras when it comes to
school availability, students in the U.S. and students in Honduras... Show more content on

In Honduras, however, the students choose to go to school. Honduran students not only desire to go
to school, but then the student must find a sponsor who will pay for their schooling; this is an
immense contrast to high school students in the United States. Students in the U.S. either go to a
government owned school for free or their families pay for them to go to a private school. To
make this point a little more clear, Good Samaritan Baptist Mission says, School means buying
books, a school uniform, shoes, and sometimes bus fare. They knew without an education, these
children would grow up like their parents, illiterate and poor. Someday, if sickness did not cause
their death, they would have only a hut to live in. Communist would make a bid for them
because the communist use poverty to convert people to communism, promising them an easier
life ( History of the Opportunity of a Lifetime Program ). By the quote above alone, it is clear
that without a sponsor students in Honduras will most likely spend the rest of their lives poor and
working for communists in order to survive. If a high school student in America drops out at the
age of 16, then he or she will either live off the government, find a lower paying job, or live off of
his or her parents. Overall, high school students in the U.S. do not have the same desire Honduran
students have when it comes to school. Honduran students do not complain about school daily like
American students. The Honduran students are just happy that they even get to go to

The second reason for supporting truckload delivery is the value density. It can be calculated as
follows
Value density (woofers) = $740/48bs = $15.42 Airfreight (T2)
Airfreight can also be recommended but the total cost per month will be higher than that of the
truckload. Whereas the deliveries are more frequent as well as the shorter transit time will make it a
better option.
Value density of the Airfreight can be calculated as follows
Value density (Tweeter) = $1190/6 lbs = $198.33
4)What responsibilities will SSE have under your recommendations in question 3?
SSE should always keep in mind the terms and conditions when sourcing their supplies for woofers

obligations end. In the event that the terms originate from FOB, title (possession) to the products
changes hands at the starting point and not at the transportation point or dealer s distribution center

is the obligation of the purchaser. In the event that the terms are FOB destination, the title

The Pattern of Residential Lot Size Zoning in Guangzhou,...
Introduction
Residential areas refer to spaces of land generally considered for housing activities, rather than for
commercial and industrial purposes. On the other hand, zoning is the process by which the local
government determines the uses of land for different purposes by designating each activity to a
given piece of land using a map of zones, which include residential, industrial, commercial and
forest activities among others. Residential zoning, therefore, is the process by which the
government control or oversee the constructions that are strictly for residential purposes, governed
by laws and mostly in use in developed cities. This essay is an in depth analysis of residential
zoning practises, with a focus on the case of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

per capita income of $17,558, with an annual economic growth rate of 12.5 percent, making it a
beta city in the global ranking (O Connor 34). According to the 2010 census results, the 10 districts
in the region had Biyun District registering the highest number of people, whereas Conghua district

Lot size Zoning in Major Cities
Most cities in the world today carry out zoning activities to achieve different objective, the most
common of which is lot coverage, regulation of building heights, or functional zoning (which
refers to regulating the type of activities that are being carried out on a piece of land). In any given
political economy, lot size zoning is also referred to as

Fredrick Douglass Essay
The purpose behind Fredrick Douglass s Narrative was to appeal to the other abolitionists who he
wanted to convince that slave owners were wrong for their treatment of other human beings. His
goal was to appeal to the middle class people of that time and persuade them to get on board with
the abolitionist movement. Douglass had a great writing style that was descriptive as well as
convincing. He stayed away from the horrific details of the time, which helped him grasp the
attention of the women who in turn would convince their husbands to help by donating money and
eventually ending slavery. He used his words effectively in convincing the readers that the slave
owners were inhuman and showed how they had no feelings for other human... Show more content

This meant that these bastard children were slaves despite their paternal heritage because their
mother was a slave. The effect of this revelation was to shock and offend the morals of the
conservative Northern whites. Northern society scorned people in adulterous and interracial
relationships. By portraying these Southerners as immoral and adulterous, Douglass wanted to
cultivate in his audience a damaging opinion of southern slaveholders (Quarles ix).
Continuing with the theme of family values, Douglass shifts to the basic family unit. Their master
separated Douglass and his mother when he was an infant, for what reason he does not know
(Douglass 2). No one gave Douglass an explanation because this situation was customary on
plantations. Douglass wanted to horrify his Northern white readers by informing them that
slaveholders regularly split slave families for no apparent reason. This obviously would upset
Northerners because the family unit was the foundation for their close knit communities. Multiple
generations and extended families lived together or near each other. It was unimaginable to the
readers that a society existed that took children away from their mothers without reason.
Northerners would think of anyone who was part of such a society as a heartless monster (Quarles
ix).
Another example of how Douglass used family values against southern slaveholders was in the
treatment of his grandmother. When Douglass s master decided

Rumination, Hope and Depression
Depression is one of the most common mental health problems encountered by adult men and
women (Kessler, Chiu, Demler, Walters, 2005; World Health Organisation [WHO], 2009).
Affecting approximately 121 million individuals worldwide, depression is within the top five
leading causes of disease and disability (WHO, 2009). Andrade et al. (2003) indicated that the
prevalence of depression among adults worldwide ranged between 1.2% and 10% among 10
different countries, with seven of the ten countries clustered between the ranges of 3.5% to 5.9%.
Within Australia, 12 month prevalence rates for adults (16 85 years) for a depressive episode was

Those that do not meet diagnostic criteria for depressive disorders but have subthreshold
depression can still experience considerable psychological suffering (Cuijpers, de Graaf, van
Dorsselaer, 2004; Rapaport et al., 2002), and harmful implications for quality of life (Goldney,
Fisher, Grande, Taylor 2004; Gotlib, Lewinsohn, Seeley, 1995).
Subthreshold depression has been characterised as the presence of depressive symptoms occurring
in individuals who do not meet diagnostic criteria for Major Depressive Disorder or Dysthymic
Disorder (APA, 2000; Cuijpers Smit, 2004; Kessler, Zhao, Blazer, Swartz, 1997; Judd, Rapaport,
Paulus, Brown, 1994). Subthreshold depression can be defined as scoring above cut off scores on
self rating depression scales or meeting DSM IV TR criteria for Minor Depression (Cuijpers Smit,
2004). Symptoms of subthreshold depression can impact on an individual s emotions (dysphoria
and guilt), cognitions (worry, self criticism, self blame), behaviours (withdrawal from social
functioning, anhedonia) and physical wellbeing (lethargy, changes in weight) (APA, 2000).

Anti Depressants Research Paper
Depression is the leading cause of emotional and physical problems. So what do people do to treat
this disorder? Anti depressants are most commonly used amongst patients suffering from
depression. Second only to antibiotics, anti depressants are the most commonly prescribed class of
medication. This is concerning because patients become dependent on these medications. In many
cases, SSRIs can have an opposite effect on patients, resulting in thoughts of suicide and other
physical symptoms. Safer alternative treatments include treating depression through therapy
without use of medication. Depression is much more than just sadness. Some patients describe

The Nemours Foundation believes, Therapy is an important part of treating teen depression. There
are three types of therapy commonly used to treat depression: cognitive behavioral therapy,
interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Therapy can also help you work through the
root of your depression, helping you understand why you feel a certain way, what your triggers
are for depression, and what you can do to stay healthy. Clay Cockrell, a New York psychologist
treats his clients by going through a process known as the walk talk. Instead of having indoor
sessions, Cockrell and his clients have their counseling sessions outdoor, around the Manhattan
area. My therapy sessions are conducted outdoors while walking, and somehow the simple act of
walking while talking out life s issues creates an environment of possibility and change. Another
alternative to help improve functionality and build resilience is to get involved socially and
physically. Challenging yourself with a positive mind and being proactive can help overcome
suicidal thoughts. Overcome the temptation. There are many supportive hotlines out there to help
depression sufferers; however, it is vitally important that the individual finds a

The Collapse Of Rome In The Third Century
New problems arose after Marcus Aurelius died in a.d.180. Rome Empire came near collapse in
the third century. Following a series of civil wars, the military government under the Severan
rulers restored order. After the Severan rulers restored order there was more disorder from 235
to 284 almost 50 years. Rome was occupied by whoever had the military strength to invade
Rome. The Rome Empire was attack by series of invasions. In the east, the Sassanid Persians
made inroads into Rome territory. Germanic tribes poured into Spain, Balkans, and Gaul. In the
third century all the invasions, civil wars, and plague almost caused an economic collapse. Both
military and the economy affected by an epidemic disease because of this they was a decline in
trade and small industry. The farm production declined as crops were ravaged by invaders or the
defending Roman army. The armies were needed so they pay more soldiers. The state had to hire
Germans to fight but they did not understand the Rome traditions and had no loyalty to the empire.

Human Activity And The Environment
The Earth is dominated by human activity and the impact so far has been overwhelming. As a
species we have changed the environment more than any other species. What drives us to do this
can be blamed for success to survive and adapt in most environments. Humanity learns to take
control and use the environment to benefit from the resources there. The demand for what we want
and what we need to survive is bought by currency and controlled by society and politics. Science
wants to create easier ways to change the environment. While religion and culture try to enhance
beliefs and values among the worlds people. The Earths resource base is what makes life possible
upon it. Humans are a part of the ecosystem and need to use the same resources as everything
else. The problem is that we take a majority and pollute a fair amount in the process of taking
them. The health of the environment can be overlooked when profit is an option. Companies or
even individuals can take short cuts in doing a job and pollute the land or water. Economies are
important in our lives and it is a main driver in environment change. If it comes to money, the
question is any being made and how much does it cost to do whatever? Sometimes a regulation can
cost a company more money and will try to change the law to benefit themselves. They greatly
influence all the groups that create change and can be positive or negative. Politicians can put into
law regulations that help preserve the environment, for

Steven Wallace
Steven Wallace is one of the most respected poets in America. Through his progression, he had full
determination to become successful writer. He was a philosopher of aesthetics, vigorously
exploring the notion of poetry. From his extreme technical and thematic complexity of his work,
employing extraordinary vocabulary, and rigorous precision of crafting poems, Stevens was
considered a willfully difficult poet. He was acknowledged as eminent abstractionist and a
provocative think. His reputation lives on since his death.
Wallace Stevens was born in Reading Pennsylvania on the 2nd of October in 1879. His family
belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church and when Stevens became eligible, he enrolled in
parochial schools at the age of twelve; there, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two years later, his father passed away and his mother passed away in 1912. During this period,
Stevens discontinued his passion to write poems, yet he was involved in New York City s
artistic community. He had many several friends among New York writers and painters in
Greenwich Village including poets such as William Carlos Williams, E.E Cummings, Marianne
Moore. During this time, he had a fondness for modern painting, eventually becoming a collector
of Asian art, including pottery, and jewelery. He admired Asian works for their vivid colors and
their clarity, qualities that he later imparted to his own works. Through many periods of job
changes, he was one of the most impressive literacy achievements. In the year 1915, he produced
his first significant poems, Peter Quince at the Clavier and Sunday Morning, and in 1916, he
published his prize winning play, Three Travelers Watch a Sunrise. He detached himself from all
world affairs and politics; though he cheered on for Italians fascist leader, Benito Mussolini Wallace
contended that his art constituted to reality.
After a successful life, Wallace Stevens passed away due to cancer on August, 1955. Years after his
death, Stevens reptation remains inspirational and respected. His abstraction and his diction of his
poetry has proven particularly among many students and academicians. Stevens is an example of a

A Comparison of Religion in Sir Gawain and Green Knight...
Role of Religion in Sir Gawain and Othello
Respect for religion and government is an important part of any country, but what happens to a
country when these values begin to change? England was beginning to go through this change in
1603 when Othello was written by William Shakespeare. Comparing the religious themes and
heroes of Othello to the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight which was written during the
Middle English era, will demonstrate just how far England had come. Both heroes are clearly
religious, but Gawain maintains his faith until the end, while Othello falls into the snare of
temptation. The spiritual hero of Middle English is quite different from the tragic hero of the
Machiavellian era. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Immediately after this, his prayer is answered, and fittingly he offers his thanks / To Jesus and
Saint Julian (773 74). His ride to the Green Knight s castle is called a holy ride, and he gives honor
to not only Christ, but Mary and Saint Julian as well. He almost comes off as self righteous with
his request from Mary for a place to stay so he could hear mass. He doesn t ask for a place to stay
so he does not have to sleep on his horse, he asks for a place to stay so he can hear mass. He is
not saying a prayer for good luck. It says he prays, with all his might. He really believes that his
prayers will make a difference. He is not the only one because immediately his prayer is answered.
This description demonstrates a religious or spiritual hero who depends on his spirituality to get
him through tough times. This is further supported by the narrative because it appears in this story
that Gawain s prayer pays off.
Religion is addressed extensively in the story of Othello as well. Even though Othello comes from
Africa, a pagan land, he demonstrates Christian faith. For example, when Othello finds that
Montano and Cassio have been fighting he says:
Why, how now ho! From whence ariseth this?

Reactance Window Drying
Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating
water at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2]
Infrared Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones.
This allows product to be maintained at a low temperatureto avoid damage while in its liquid state.
DRYING FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is
achieved by give the heatto the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the
product above that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and
vapor, to move to the surface of the product. Evaporationtakes place and water vapor is transferred
to the surrounding air. This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this
moist air is replaced by less saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound
moisture. Free moisture is water that can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its
movement is not dependent on the internal structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation
process is at a maximum when there is sufficient free water in the product to replace that
evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the moisture content of the product falls
and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature of the drying air. This period in
the drying process is usually known as

this attention grabbing book because she wanted to put the thought in our minds to not take the

similarities outnumber the differences. In both the movie and the book Lina is curious about the
mayor s actions and the government s decisions. On Lina s way to give the mayor a message she

Unlike the leaders in the Protestant movement, many stayed with the Catholic Church and tried to

initiated by PopePaul III. The council met in Trento, Italy in December 1545 and they met two
more times in May 1551 and January 1562 and ended in December 1563. This council was created
to identify the abuses within the Church and to clarify Catholic doctrine and reaffirmed the Pope to

all the seven sacraments, they would be denounced and excommunicated.

The Bluest Eye gives readers a deep descriptions of the ways white beauty standards deformed the lives of blacks girls and women.provides an extended depiction of the ways in which internalized white beauty standards deform the lives of black girls and women. Pecola let white beauty standards deform her life. People believe that having the bluest eyes would change the way people viewed her and her view of others. She had a certain insight on having blue eyes that wasn t necessarily correct. Pecola didn t believe she was up to the beauty standards of the society. She honestly believed that the cruel things she is put through on the daily is the effect of how she is seen by others. She has a honest feeling that if she obtains blue eyes people will look at her and treat her differently because she feels like she ll be closer to the beauty standards and being accepted. The thought process of Pecola was that if she had those pretty blue eyes people would not want to do negative things to or in front of her. The increase in the projected flood level cities in Connecticut will be greatly affected such as Bridgeport and New Haven. As an illustration, a significant portion of both Bridgeport and New Haven lies within the high risk flood zone, and during severe storms this place a large population, private property, and infrastructure at high risk. • 9. Pros And Cons Of Microfossil There s a new digital map limning the composition of the seafloor, and it s shown evidence of microfossil graveyards off the coast of Australia, in addition to other complex deep ocean geology. The interactive map is actually available via the online journal Geology, published August 9th. This marks a first at creating an extensive, comprehensive map in the past 40 years. There hasn t been a single attempt at such a map since the 1970s, which the University of Sydney has announced was drawn by hand. The old map suggests much of the Southern Ocean around Australia is mainly covered by clay blown off the continent, whereas our map shows this area is actually a complex patchwork of microfossil remains, said study author Adriana Dutkiewicz, a sedimentologist at the University of Sydney in a statement. Life in the Southern Ocean is much richer than previously thought. The microfossils discovered are actually from a type of phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in the air, air we need to breathe. When they die, diatoms sink down to the dark musty abyssal of the oceans, dragging all the their carbon with them. This process is referred to as carbon sink, and it helps prevent the... • 10. Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Essay An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Introduction The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly doubles. The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is reduced. Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate (marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is: Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) + ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His goals are based on what he can get from others and how they can help him, not on helping himself. This paper shows how Richard uses his skills of trickery and manipulation to not only move up on the hierarchy, but to actually get elected king. He uses his trickery to get Anne his wife to help move up his position on the hierarchy; he uses his trickery to get elected and to get his men to fight for him and not for the better of the country. During the whole play Richard s evil ways are easy to see for the reader, but for other characters in the play it was not so easy. When there was no one else before him on the hierarchy he had them believe he was a holy man that was not suitable for the throne. This was all a disguise for them to just hand over the throne and practically beg him to be king. This is best shown in the conversation between Richard, Buckingham, Catesby, Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and citizens when Richard tells them Alas, why would you heap this care on me? / I am unfit for state and majesty. / I do beseech you take it not amiss, / I cannot nor I will not yield to you. He doesn t care about others, he represents everything a king should go against: greed, manipulation, and gaining power. The main differences between these two creation myths is that the first creation mythis based on the importance of water as the necessary requirement for the beginning of life. Meanwhile in The Babylonian Creation myth, it narrates or tells the story about not only how the universe was created, but also how the gods entered the world, how the earth came to be, as well as the creation of Babylon and humans (Fiero 19). In the first myth, the universe was created when That One which came to be enclosed in nothing, arose at last, born of the power of heat (Fiero 15). In my opinion, one canthink that back in the time, the people who created this myth believed in a geocentric view of the universe where Earth was in the center. And that that One came to be the sun which gave light to the world and allowed the prospering of plants and life. Some imagery found in this primary source were darkness wrapped in darkness , only illumined water cosmic waters, in depths unfathomed, (Fiero 15). These forms of imagery depicts or describes what the universe was like before the that One arose. The order of creation in this myth seems to be that of the One being in the empty universe before anything else and then when that One arose, he or she brought heat as well as light in the world which most likely led to the beginning of light in the world leading to life. In this creation myth, one can feel like the One is the universe or the creation because according to lines 23, it states The gods themselves are later than creation (Fiero 15). Throughout the entirety of the poem, there is an obvious lack of punctuation and proper spelling. This style can best be shown in the first stanza: tonite, thriller was / abt an ol woman, so vain she / surrounded her self w/ / many mirrors (1 4). The evident misspelling of the words tonight and about along with the abbreviations of old and with support the poem s bizarre set up. Within the poem Reed constructs a whole new style of writing, differentiating itself from the common structural expectations. A further example of structural uncommonness leading to theme is the various spaces inserted throughout the poem. In the last few lines the speaker informs its audience about the statistic of missing persons in the U.S. [Thousands upon thousands leave no clues] / nor trace only / a space in the lives of their friends (45 49). Though not an obvious detail, upon closer inspection the reader can see the purposely placed spaces isolating the words only a space . The intentional structure is an implied comparison to the void left in the lives of loved ones. Furthermore, by comparing a reader s unwearying attention to a missing person highlights the seclusion caused by the poem s power to captivate its reader. It is saying that the reader is so immersed within the poem that they are gone, isolated, from the real world. The tonal aspects of the poem also lead up to the theme of ... Feature selection is use to remove or reduce redundant and irrelevant features. Various feature selection algorithms such as CFS (correlation feature selection), FCBF (Fast Correlation Based Filter) and CMIM (Conditional Mutual Information Maximization) are used to remove redundant and irrelevant features. To determine efficiency and effectiveness is the aim of feature selection algorithm. Time factor is denoted by efficiency and quality factor is denoted by effectiveness of subset of features. Problem of feature selection algorithm is accuracy is not guaranteed, computational complexity is large, ineffective at removing redundant features. To overcome these problems Fast Clustering based feature selection algorithm (FAST) is used. Removal of irrelevant features, construction of MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) from relative one and partition of MST and selecting representative features using kruskal s method are the three steps used by FAST algorithm. The Act itself extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nulliusand instead established native title rights. Terra Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means Land belonging to no one . Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land. There were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that their traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land titles of the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo (No2) depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that with the acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown s automatically. So this practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre existing aboriginal law in the form of native title. About 50% of ingested fluoride is excreted through urine within 24 hours (Peter Gluckman; David Skegg, 2014). Various factors may affect its bioavailability, for instance when it is ingested with food it delays its absorption. The solubility and the complex formulation may also reduce the extent of absorption. Unbounded free ions of fluoride are distributed via the circulation throughout the intracellular and extracellular body fluids with volume of distribution of 0.5 0.7 L/kg (WHO 2000). Plasma concentration is affected by the renal status and urinary pH, for example people with low glomerular filtration rate have increased plasma fluoride concentration, thus increased levels of fluoride in tissues and consequently are more susceptible to fluorosis (Peter Gluckman; David Skegg, 2014). Excretion may also occur through faeces and sweat. The remaining amount deposits and retains in bones and teeth, where it incorporates into the crystal network. Bone retention reflects long term exposure to fluoride and is affected by the factors such as age, sex and type of bone. Young children with growing bones have much higher retention of fluoride compared to adults. The people rejoice when Foulon is imprisoned since he treated them awfully. The nature of the French Revolution is the common people s elation at the downfall of the aristocracy. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship between the common people and Foulon. The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the single entity of Saint Antoine. Major Depressive Disorder Analysis Many people throughout their lives go through periods of sadness due to various different things such as grief at the loss of a loved one or a stressful event occurring, and this process is natural, even a part of human nature, in order to experience all aspects of life and get support from those around us (Horwitz Wakefield, 2007). However, this organic sadness, as it were, is quite different from what we call depression as a mental illness; as to say that one has a mood disorder, a number of symptoms must occur at once and impair functioning of the individual (Ingrim, n.d). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the DSM 5, the main feature of mood disorders is a disturbance of mood. One of the most highly prevalent mood disorders is Major Depressive Disorder, an often chronic and severe disorder. It is considered a recurrent disorder when not chronic, where clients remit from depressive episodes and symptoms go away for a period of time but may return at a later time as part of the same depressive episode, or otherwise recovering from a treated episode but a new episode recurs later in the future (Hollon, Stewart Strunk, 2006). The current criteria used to diagnose Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) are as follows; five or more of these symptoms must be present over a consecutive 2 week period, characterised as a major depressive episode (MDE) and must be a change from previous functioning, including insomnia or hypersomnia, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, recurrent thoughts of death and/or suicide, significant unusual weight or appetite loss, reduced ability to think and concentrate. Furthermore, either one of these following two or both symptoms are a must; depressed mood or diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities. Children may have irritable moods rather than depressed. The effect of this revelation was to shock and offend the morals of the conservative Northern whites. Northern society scorned people in adulterous and interracial relationships. By portraying these Southerners as immoral and adulterous, Douglass wanted to cultivate in his audience a damaging opinion of southern slaveholders (Quarles ix). Continuing with the theme of family values, Douglass shifts to the basic family unit. Their master separated Douglass and his mother when he was an infant, for what reason he does not know (Douglass 2). No one gave Douglass an explanation because this situation was customary on plantations. Douglass wanted to horrify his Northern white readers by informing them that slaveholders regularly split slave families for no apparent reason. This obviously would upset Northerners because the family unit was the foundation for their close knit communities. Multiple generations and extended families lived together or near each other. It was unimaginable to the readers that a society existed that took children away from their mothers without reason. • 47. Human Activity And The Environment The Earth is dominated by human activity and the impact so far has been overwhelming. As a species we have changed the environment more than any other species. What drives us to do this can be blamed for success to survive and adapt in most environments. Humanity learns to take control and use the environment to benefit from the resources there. The demand for what we want and what we need to survive is bought by currency and controlled by society and politics. Science wants to create easier ways to change the environment. While religion and culture try to enhance beliefs and values among the worlds people. The Earths resource base is what makes life possible upon it. Humans are a part of the ecosystem and need to use the same resources as everything else. The problem is that we take a majority and pollute a fair amount in the process of taking them. The health of the environment can be overlooked when profit is an option. Companies or even individuals can take short cuts in doing a job and pollute the land or water. Economies are important in our lives and it is a main driver in environment change. If it comes to money, the question is any being made and how much does it cost to do whatever? Sometimes a regulation can cost a company more money and will try to change the law to benefit themselves. They greatly influence all the groups that create change and can be positive or negative. Politicians can put into law regulations that help preserve the environment, for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Steven Wallace Steven Wallace is one of the most respected poets in America. Through his progression, he had full determination to become successful writer. He was a philosopher of aesthetics, vigorously exploring the notion of poetry. From his extreme technical and thematic complexity of his work, employing extraordinary vocabulary, and rigorous precision of crafting poems, Stevens was considered a willfully difficult poet. He was acknowledged as eminent abstractionist and a provocative think. His reputation lives on since his death. Wallace Stevens was born in Reading Pennsylvania on the 2nd of October in 1879. During this period, Stevens discontinued his passion to write poems, yet he was involved in New York City s artistic community. He had many several friends among New York writers and painters in Greenwich Village including poets such as William Carlos Williams, E.E Cummings, Marianne Moore. During this time, he had a fondness for modern painting, eventually becoming a collector of Asian art, including pottery, and jewelery. He admired Asian works for their vivid colors and their clarity, qualities that he later imparted to his own works. Through many periods of job changes, he was one of the most impressive literacy achievements. In the year 1915, he produced his first significant poems, Peter Quince at the Clavier and Sunday Morning, and in 1916, he published his prize winning play, Three Travelers Watch a Sunrise. He detached himself from all world affairs and politics; though he cheered on for Italians fascist leader, Benito Mussolini Wallace contended that his art constituted to reality. • 51. A Comparison of Religion in Sir Gawain and Green Knight... Role of Religion in Sir Gawain and Othello Respect for religion and government is an important part of any country, but what happens to a country when these values begin to change? England was beginning to go through this change in 1603 when Othello was written by William Shakespeare. Comparing the religious themes and heroes of Othello to the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight which was written during the Middle English era, will demonstrate just how far England had come. Both heroes are clearly religious, but Gawain maintains his faith until the end, while Othello falls into the snare of temptation. The spiritual hero of Middle English is quite different from the tragic hero of the Machiavellian era. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (753 762) Immediately after this, his prayer is answered, and fittingly he offers his thanks / To Jesus and Saint Julian (773 74). His ride to the Green Knight s castle is called a holy ride, and he gives honor to not only Christ, but Mary and Saint Julian as well. He almost comes off as self righteous with his request from Mary for a place to stay so he could hear mass. He doesn t ask for a place to stay so he does not have to sleep on his horse, he asks for a place to stay so he can hear mass. He is not saying a prayer for good luck. It says he prays, with all his might. He really believes that his prayers will make a difference. He is not the only one because immediately his prayer is answered. This description demonstrates a religious or spiritual hero who depends on his spirituality to get him through tough times. This is further supported by the narrative because it appears in this story that Gawain s prayer pays off. Religion is addressed extensively in the story of Othello as well. Even though Othello comes from Africa, a pagan land, he demonstrates Christian faith. For example, when Othello finds that Montano and Cassio have been fighting he says: Why, how now ho! From whence ariseth this? Are we turned Turks, and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Reactance Window Drying Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating water at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2] Infrared Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones. This allows product to be maintained at a low temperatureto avoid damage while in its liquid state. DRYING FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is achieved by give the heatto the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the product above that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and vapor, to move to the surface of the product. Evaporationtakes place and water vapor is transferred to the surrounding air. This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this moist air is replaced by less saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound moisture. Free moisture is water that can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its movement is not dependent on the internal structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation process is at a maximum when there is sufficient free water in the product to replace that evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the moisture content of the product falls and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature of the drying air. This period in the drying process is usually known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Ember Book Comparison Compare Contrast Essay Could you imagine living in a world underground that has no light and is losing resources very quickly by the day? Well, the City Of Ember by Jeanne Duprau will help you imagine that. The book, City of Ember was published in May 2003. Jeanne Duprau wrote this attention grabbing book because she wanted to put the thought in our minds to not take the simple things like food, water, lights, and a roof over our head for granted. In this book the similarities outnumber the differences. In both the movie and the book Lina is curious about the mayor s actions and the government s decisions. On Lina s way to give the mayor a message she finds herself getting lost in the building and lurking around where she isn t supposed to be and seeing questionable things that her eyes shouldn t be seeing. Equally important to the plot of this book is that in both the book and movie Lina and Doon switch jobs which causes them to find out some big things, but I wouldn t wanna spoil... At the begging of the movie when Lina and Doon are exploring the pipeworks looking for clues and hints for someway to get out of Ember, they run into a huge problem, an oversized mole that tries eating them. Which trusts me that made for a very interesting added scene. The second difference is at the end of the story when Lina and Doon drop a note down to the city from above it ends up going to Doons father instead of going to Mrs.Murdo in the book. They drop the note down so the citizens of ember will find the note and read the directions on how to get off the quickly dying city. Not to mention that in the beginning of the movie Lina doesn t end up going up to the bell tower ( where she isn t supposed to be) which means the leader of the city, Mayor cole doesn t get a bad start with her. Which causes him not to assume she s the one spreading the rumors about him stealing the food and hiding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlike the leaders in the Protestant movement, many stayed with the Catholic Church and tried to reform it within. These reforms challenged every level of the Church. The Council of Trent was initiated by PopePaul III. The council met in Trento, Italy in December 1545 and they met two more times in May 1551 and January 1562 and ended in December 1563. This council was created to identify the abuses within the Church and to clarify Catholic doctrine and reaffirmed the Pope to be the head of the Church (Bruening 161 3). The council declared anyone who did not agree with all the seven sacraments, they would be denounced and excommunicated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
