Nina Semone Research Paper
Nina Semone born (Eunice Kathleen Waymon ,February 21,1933 April 21,2003)was an American
singer ,songwriter, pianist, arranger and an activist in the Civil Rights Movement. She was very
versatile when it came to her music as she employed a broad range of musical styles. On her song

In the past regarding how the population was decreasing. With the innovations of the present and
future she mentions that When tomorrow becomes yesterday and tomorrow becomes eternity .In this
song she takes us on a journey of centuries and how the years had been with either comfortable or
unopposable situations that humankind faced and still are facing. This is a deep sense that Nina

Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place
Peter Mehari

A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is
about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a café. He is deaf and there are two waiters who are
watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While the old man is
having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the older waiter with the
younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are known as The Old Man,
The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author conveys the idea of light and
darkness symbolized in the characters and the café.
While in the café when the waiters were speaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The café is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it. It
represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is confusing
and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he says, It was only
that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The author doesn t really
explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life meaning that life and man are
nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as something. If the café is clean and well
lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away. Another point the older waiter makes about the
café why it needs these specific elements is because he needs the café to be clean and pleasant. You do
not want music. Certainly you do not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light
in the café. Light is very important in the café because light removes the darkness. It is like when
people are scared of darkness and all they are looking for is light. When the older waiter has locked up
and was walking off he describes the awful nothingness of life nada y pues nada y nada y pues nada

Mexico Considered As A Liberal Democracy
Mexico Considered As A Liberal Democracy Mexico s government is very corrupted as we know it
from the media. Based on logical facts, Mexico s government doesn t have the right and sufficient
system to protect an individual s right. The economy also plays a huge role into individual s voting
since there is problems financially that the head of state, Enrique Peña has been trying to solve. As
well as the situation with the drug cartels which have impacted Mexico s financial and military power
to slowly decrease these problems have led to question Mexico s democratization. In my opinion, I feel
that Mexico is not a liberal democracy with its corruption and unreformed government leading
Mexicans to lose trust in their own society (government). Is Mexico a liberal democracy throughout

Their explanation was straight and clear on how Mexican voters had little to nothing for a voice to

vote for resources that can better the environment does not show a strong convincement. We know
from the media that the President s wife wasted $100 million dollars for a house through an offshore

Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism
As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the
people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and
Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their
needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore,
the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more
imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this
is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist
groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the
extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just
one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to
achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies
around the world to prevent a military invasion.
Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through
irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three
universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon.
Suicide attacks are organized and

Christians Have Same Beliefs Another point that supports the argument is that Christians all have the
same basic beliefs, that there is one God and they all believe in Jesus and his teachings, and they only

The evangelical concern of modern ecumenism brought about the formation, in 1921, of the

The True Value of Loyalty Essay
Now I was the one under the microscope, the one who had to prove my worthiness (Hosseini 184).
This quote demonstrates the role switch that encourages Amir to change the disloyal person he was
previously into the person he is at the novel s end. Hassan is constantlyys tormented by Amir s
meaningless tests to prove Hassan s loyalty. Now, it is Amir who has to prove to the world, and also to
himself that he is worthy of Hassan s endless sincerity and devotion. Khaled Hosseini does an
excellent job of portraying this transformation in his writing. Hosseini s novel, The Kite Runner,
illustrates the value of loyalty in the relationships between Hassan and Amir, Sanaubar and Sohrab,
and Amir and Baba. First is the relationship between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hassan spends his whole life believing his mother does not care about him or his father. By the time
Sanaubar does take an interest, Hassan already moves on onto the next stage in his life. Sanaubar
finally realizes what she misses by leaving Ali and Hassan. Sohrab is the perfect situation to show her
true loyalty, as shown through this excerpt: I remember Sanaubar came out of the hut, holding her
grandson, had him wrapped in a wool blanket. She stood beaming under a dull grey sky, tears
streaming down her cheeks, the needle cold wind blowing her hair, and clutching that baby in her
arms like she never wanted to let go. Not this time. (211).
The Kite Runner contains excellent examples of symbols, and a possible symbol in the book is
Sohrab. When reading a book, objects or things are distinctly seen as symbols rather than people.
Sohrab stands out as a character that has such an influence on others that he could be considered on of
The Kite Runner s symbols. He is the only thing that Amir can connect to from his former life after
Baba passed and Rahim Khan disappeared. He is the exact person that Sanaubar needed to come into
her life. Sanaubar comes back because something was missing: a son. Sohrab is her second chance to
demonstrate her loyalty, her opportunity for redemption. Trinter 3 Towards the beginning of the novel,
Hosseini makes the reader feel that Baba is purposely trying to be distant

Choice Theory Vs Trait Theory Criminology Essay
Theories are a significant part of developing a body of knowledge within an academic discipline.
Within the domain of criminology, many theories have provided a foundation to stimulate the growth
of this area of study. The beginning of criminology began with individual level theories; they focus on
the perpetrator s individualistic features to answer the question of why crime occurs. Two major
theories that divide the individual level theories are choice theory and trait theory. Both contain
various principles within their unit. Choice theory involves classical criminology while trait theory
relates to biological, psychological, and sociological determinism. These theories use different
approaches to explain why individuals commit crime. Before legal policies and penal codes were
developed, crime and punishment could be described as barbaric. The accused were treated unfairly,
cruel and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of the crimes during this time were gruesomely reprimanded, and many times,
individuals had no knowledge that certain acts were illegal. Judges obtained far more discretion than
should have been allowed. Criminal acts were suggested to be caused by supernatural happenings like
Satan and demonic possessions. The first step away from such harsh system and irrational crime
provoking causes was with the development of classical criminology. In 1764, a man soon to be
named the father of modern criminology, Cesare Beccaria developed a criminal justice system
proposal which focused on aiding the people instead of the crown (Adler et al., 2007). The views of
crime and punishment drastically changed into the idea that crime should be punishable to the extent
of the crime committed. Classical criminology revolves around the idea that individuals

Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay
With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students clinical knowledge and skills relies
on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements
about students individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which
educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings
Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be
evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation
that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can
evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real life situations. Observations of performance
in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed
(Oermann Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can
think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There
are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes
to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is
an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated
to respond to government requests for well educated healthcare professionals.

Schools Should Not Conduct Random Locker Searches In Schools
On a scale basis, most people actually hate locker searches and think that schools need to terminate
them. Joseph, a friend of a student whose locker got searched said. His friend, Ryan had school locker
searches in his school. They were allowed to have their phones out during lunch, but when the security
pulled him away from his friends at lunch to have a locker search, they confiscated Ryan s iPod 4. He
never saw it again. The security said that they kept it, but it somehow got lost. Students should not
conduct random locker searches because they will lose their privacy, have misplaced focus, and the
search could lead to legal issues. I mean, how many times have people found bad in lockers in the past

Chad s Theory Of The Decision Making Process Essay
Introduction
Chad started with Amazon in August 2012 as an IT Engineer I. His technical acuity and leadership
qualities had an immediate impact while he consistently worked above his level. Chad s technical
proficiencies had an immediate effect as he was instrumental in multiple projects. These projects
include establishing a new global standard for cable procurement across FCIT, MyTime Kronos time
clock, and the 1D to 2D barcode project. He was subsequently promoted to an Engineer II in October
2013 and continued his track record of providing high quality engineer services
Chad continued to develop technically as his scope of responsibilities and the scale of his projects
increased. He then focused on engagement, delegation, communication, and facilitated project
completion by becoming an integral part of the decision making process. Chad s success in these
endeavors earned the trust of his leadership as he became a trusted resource while establishing himself
as a leader amongst his peers.
Leadership and Communication
Chad s leadership was on display when he showed composure and high judgment after a water main
broke at BNA3 flooding 1/3 of the East Pickmod. The leak cause significant damage as water poured
into an IDF through low voltage cable conduit. Chad immediately took ownership and worked with
local leadership and facilities to put forth an action plan to restore IT services in the affected area. He

The Elements Of A Mediterranean Diet
Mediterranean Diet
The elements of a Mediterranean diet as I have come to know them through my stay here are bread,
olive oil, wine, prosciutto, and cheese, along with pizza, pasta, and gelato. However, researchers
studying the Mediterranean diet for its health effects would say that it consists of fruits, vegetables,
legumes, cereal, fish, and a moderate intake of red wine with meals (Sofi, Cesari, Abbate, Gensini,
Casini 337). Foods that are defined as being specifically opposed to the structure of the Mediterranean
diet are red, processed meats and dairy products (Sofi, Cesari, Abbate, Gensini, Casini 337). Although,
I would have to argue that cheese is eaten nearly in excess and is certainly a dairy product
The Mediterranean diet receives so much attention because it is valued for its contribution to a healthy
cardiovascular system. Studies have indicated that adherence to such a diet is a significant protective

Can the Jewish, Christian and Islamic Communities Coexist...
I have been advised by the ruling council of Neutralia to conduct research regarding whether the three
communities, each following a different religion, (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) will be able to
coexist together harmoniously and peacefully in our nation. I have looked at all the three holy
scriptures as well as history and present day examples either supporting or opposing the idea of them
being able to live side by side without conflict.
The Bible
Looking at the holy scripture of Christianity, the Bible, I found that christians are supposed to spread
their religion as much as possible as they want to offer salvation for as many as possible, but are not to
act out as the non believers unwillingness will eventually punish them when they go to hell. (King
James Bible Online Revelation 21:8) Further, it talks about the Jews really following Satan and not
God/G d, as he has blinded them from seeing that the Messiah has come as they teach in Christianity,
since they are still waiting. It says that Jews say they are Jews but really aren t, referring to them as the
synagogue of Satan. (King James Bible Online Revelation 2: 9)

Government Intervention And Laissez Faire Of Market...
As evidenced by the plethora of explanations concerning it, the 2007 08 financial crisis that originated
in the United States is highly complex. The literature presents various causes, most of which can be
placed on either side of a debate between government intervention and laissez faire of market
mechanisms. On one side, it is argued that financial actors are responsible for the crisis as a result of
their use and distribution of complex and risky financial products, and their irresponsible lending. On
the other side, the arguments centre on policy failures, or unintended consequences of government
initiatives, as interventions into economic mechanisms. Some explanations see both financial markets
and policy at the origin of the crisis, and some elements are common to all of these interpretations.
Through these varying explanations, we may find certain facts about the time leading up to the crisis,
explaining its nature and steps. The three main ingredients of the crisis were the following: a housing
bubble, the securitization of mortgages or Mortgage Backed Securities (MBSs) and a credit expansion
to leverage financial gains. In its most simple characteristics, the housing bubble was a long term
trend in US housing markets for loans below the quality standard. More precisely, people were buying
houses with loans that they had a low chance of repaying, especially considering the unpredictability
of markets. After the issuing of these loans, the mortgages as financial

Christianity. Christianity can be used in good and bad forms. From a quote from the old testament it
states, For there will never to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, You shall open wide your
hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land. Deuteronomy 15:11, this means that
there are the poor people out in the world and we should help to the needy and the poor. Then from the
quote from the new testament it states, I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye
believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24, this means that you shall die in your
mistakes that you have made such as murder. From both of these quotes from the old and new

From the article, Abortion Doctor Shot to Death in Kansas Church by using the quote I said therefore

a focal point for those around the country who opposed it. In addition to protests outside his clinic, his
house and his church, Dr. Tiller had once seen his clinic bombed; in 1993, an abortion opponent shot
him in both arms. He was also the defendant in a series of legal challenges intended to shut down his
operations, including two grand juries that were convened after citizen led petition drives. And was
later shot and killed, for fighting against abortion under the law. One example from the article of how
evil is used in christianity is, Mr. Obama issued a statement after Dr.Tiller s killing, saying, However
profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved
by heinous acts of violence. This relates to the quote because it shows that even if someone has a

David Slater s Essay-A Monkey And His Pictures
A Monkey and His Pictures
Recently, a man became acquainted with a group of macaque monkeys and set up his camera to take
pictures of them. However, he couldn t do it himself, so he made the monkeys take pictures of
themselves. Wikimedia saw these pictures and immediately uploaded them to their website, starting a
heated debate between the photographer, David
Slater, and Wikimedia. The debate was over whether or not David owned the copyright to those
pictures, and it was voted that he didn t because in the copyright laws, only humans that actually took
the pictures could own the copyright to it. However, some people believe that this is wrong, especially
David Slater. Truth be told, he set up the cameras to where the monkeys would take the ... Show more

To start, David Slater set up his cameras. He put in work, the setup was his doing, and therefore the
rights should be his. An old saying states that one reaps what one sows, however, it appears that one
must also make the plant grow as well, instead of allowing it to do the task itself. David sowed his
seeds in setting up the cameras, and where is his reaping? It is free on the Internet, no strings attached.
While David did make some money off of his pictures, he no longer receives profit from them due to
the piratical acts of a company. It is too bad that David Slater could not have taken the pictures
himself,

Another flaw is found in the copyright law stating that only a human can own a copyright, and since
the monkey took the picture, David could not own the copyright.
David worked to have what was rightfully his. His efforts were put forth to create the picture, like a
director of a movie. They get to own their copyrights, but they are indirectly involved in the
production of the movie. This is unfair seeing as how a man indirectly involved in the creation of
photos cannot own the rights to his own

Paul Laurence Dunbar Sympathy Summary
All beings require a degree of freedom to truly live, as such, caged animals are often subjected to a life
subpar to truly living. Consequently, this rule applies to humans as well, and unfortunately enough,
most humans in our era fail to live. In the poem Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Dunbar seeks to
explore this sullen connection with the speaker and a caged animal feels by utilizing repetition and
metaphor.
The first stanza begins with the primary metaphor of the caged bird. In this line, the speaker states that
he knows what the caged bird feels (line 1). Under the assumption that the speaker, like most people,
cannot speak to animals, his understanding of the bird s feelings must come from inference from
observation. Dunbar goes onto depict a beautiful landscape of the birds natural habitat. However, the
feelings of the depiction are clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bird s mania manifests in vain attempts on breaking the bars of his cage with his body. Beating its
body against the bars until he bleeds red, (line 9) the bird would almost prefer death to this life if it
were not for the vague prospect of release. Towards the end of the stanza, the tale of the caged bird
thickens as his old scars... pulse... with a keener sting (line 12 13). This line shows that the bird is not
simply trying to fly away without understanding the limits of the change, the bird seems to represent
the spirit of a stallion rejecting the enforced domestication of its captors.
The last stanza summarizes the predicament of the cage bird, and the odd act which the caged bird
commits, the caged bird sings (line 15). However, singing often represents joy Dunbar clarifies that
this singing is in prayer. After beating himself against the bars he resigns his broken body to sing and
pray for success, reaching to a higher power for

Development of the Theater High Altitude Area Defense System
The United States Army has been developing and implementing systems in order to protect our nation
s national security. One of the systems the Army has added to its arsenal is the Theater High Altitude
Area Defense system (THAAD). During the Persian Gulf War, the Army identified a need for a system
that would be able to counter a theater ballistic missile attack. THAAD is designed to cover the upper
tier of the Army s two tiered theater ballistic missile defense plan (DOD Inspector General, 1995) and
is a mobile ground based theater missile defense (TMD) system that can protect military forces that
are deployed at home or abroad, population centers, and civilian assets from Theater Ballistic Missile
(TBM) attacks. THAAD engages incoming ballistic missiles and is capable of intercepting them at
high altitudes. The prime contractor selected for the project was Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space.
The project would encompass the design and materials of radars, battle management command,
control, communications, mobile launchers, interceptors and ground support equipment. The
launching system would be on a palletized loading system fitted on existing vehicles the Army has in
their inventory. THAAD s first inception was in 1992 and it would take many years for the project to
be successful. On June 28th, 2010, the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from the U.S. Army and the
Missile Defense Agency was successful in conducting an intercept test (THAAD System Intercept,
2010). THAAD

Many people struggle with writing a paper because they do not know how to make their paper

The Cultural Context Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
In our interactive Oral we discussed about Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis, through point of time and
place matter, the relation to the society, the culture and experience and the technique in the work, I
learned about the society oppressive expectation can lead an individual to loss in identity
I originally pictured the choice that Gregor chose to work is because of the feudalistic ideas of his
family, and the rule of the society makes the difference in individual self awareness. However through
our class discussion surrounding the time and place matters, i realized that the Gregor felt he has to
work because he lives in that area that makes him think it is his responsibilities to labor for his family.
While we researched the background information about Franz Kafka, we come to the result that the
reason why Gregor doesn t like to work, it is because in the period of Kafka exist, and where he wrote
the book, which is limited by the rule of society and the rigorous control from his father. ... Show

now, the social issue is different, it is depending on the background of the year, probably people have
different opinion about the culture and social context a few years ago. While the teenager and elder
people has totally difference perspective, when the teenager read this book, they will put more
expectation and hope on the society. Inversely when elder people read the book, they will consider the
society as a competition, it is normal that there is a situation could happen just like what happens to

Dictatorship In J. B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
The play An Inspector calls was written two years before World War One. Many conflicts surrounded
this time period such as the argument of democracy versus dictatorship. The central powers were
countries with powerful elite who wanted more power, in the play portrayed by people like Mr
Birling. Many regular people wanted a share of the wealth and the right to have and use their voice.
This is emphasized in the play when Eva Smith asks Mr Birling for more money. They were all rather
restless, and suddenly decided to ask for more money ... I refused, of course , Birling explained why
Eva Smith was fired. He believes that the social class of Eva and the workers implies that they have to
accept what they get. Describing the employees as restless and sudden implies that it was out of the

It s rather surprising and ridiculous for the employees of the lower class to simply ask for more,
furthermore the correct is way for a rich capitalist to respond is to of course refuse. The year 1945,
when the play was performed, changed many people s political opinions. Europe has just lived
through two world wars, and people realized that Capitalism wasn t working and began supporting
Socialism. However, Capitalists like Birling, even from the beginning denied the possibility of any
change to the stability of the nation. Birling heavily emphasizes his opinion on the topic in his speech
to Gerald and Eric, [German officers] begin talking nonsense ... some people say war s inevitable. And
to that I say fiddlesticks! The Germans don t want war. Nobody wants war. Birling calls the idea of
war nonsense and just ridiculous, furthermore, he completely disregards the plausibility of a war
occurring. He sounds almost childish when he says fiddlesticks , and someone being compared to a

Language And Bias In Language
Language and Bias In New York City, hundreds of languages have been spoken everyday on the street
as a grand representation that we live in a multilingual society. However, within the multilingual
society minority language is often deemed as not useful due to the cultural, social and economical
advantages that dominant language is able to bring along with it. This explains that why some of
second generation immigrants are unable to speak in their heritage language, because they or their
parents hold this belief. Also, this kind of attitude can be even found in the classroom. According to
Mallinson, Professor of Language, Literacy, and Culture, from University of Maryland and Hudley,
Associate Professor of Education, English, and Linguistics from College of William Mary, study
suggests that teachers might subconsciously or consciously favor students who talk like them and
judge negatively toward students who doesn t. This would discourage that students from different
language background to speak, crate linguistic insecurity and ultimately affect their academic
performance (2017). Additionally, Minority languages could face challenges related to governmental
power. During the Francisco Franco era, the dictator banned the Catalan language from speaking in
public. Because the dictator wanted to create a Spanish centralized nation. Prominent Catalan figures
were prosecuted; Catalan language in the public education system was suppressed. As a result,

Questions On The s Total Rows Of Numbers
Lascap s Fraction

Introduction
In this investigation, I will consider these sets of numbers that are present in a symmetrical pattern. To
commence this task, we will have to consider the five rows of numbers shown below. 1 1
1 3/2 1
1 6/4 6/4 1
1 10/7 10/6 10/7 1
1 15/11 15/9 15/9 15/11 1
Figure 1: The given symmetrical pattern
These numbers are arranged in a Pascal s triangle, which is a triangular array of binomial coefficients
that was named after a French mathematician Blaise Pascal. Lascap s Fraction is spelt backwards for
Pascal s fraction and there should be a way to solve this. There is an interesting pattern in figure one
where in the 1st row, there are two numbers and in the 2nd row, 3 numbers in the 3rd row, and so
forth. So through this, we know that there is a new number introduced in every consecutive row. But
there is an easier way to represent this pattern and to solve for the Pascal s triangle is by using this
formula.
〖(x+y)〗^n=(n¦0) x^n y^0+(n¦1) x^n y^1+(n¦2) x^(n 2) y^2+⋯+(n¦(n 1)) x^1 y^(n 1)+(n¦n) x^0 y^n
If there happens to be a formula for Pascal s fraction, then there should be a formula for tis Lascap s
Fraction. The first thing we will need to investigate is to describe how to find the numerator of the
sixth row. This could be solved by adding the row number with the previous

Essay on Elitism in American Politics
Elitism is the belief or philosophy that a particular group of persons with exceptional abilities,
specialized training or experience, wealth, or other unique characteristics, are the people whose
interpretations on different matters are to be taken most seriously. More simply, some believe these
people are best fit to administer or whose understandings or actions are mostly likely to be beneficial
and profitable. Otherwise, the term elitism could be used to pronounce a condition in which power is
in fact focused in the hands of an elite, whether rightly or wrong.
Pluralism, in a rather general sense, is the acceptance and approval of diversity. The concept is used in

This group of elites can efficiently order the goals for all or nearly all significant government policy
making. They may also lead the actions of educational organizations and mass media in today s
society. Their power can easily be seen by their financial resources and also on their rankings among
the top of the big corporations, and believe it or not, it does not depend on whether or not they can
gain large amounts of support through labors to embody interests and the good of social groups in the
United States. The elitist theorists and a large portion of Americans believe, that this country cannot be
run by powerless masses of average voters to chose a leader well fit to lead our nations in the right
direction.
Many Americans believe that the United States government is untouchable by the everyday citizen,
and in many ways this is very true. Yet a democracy depends for its very livelihood on expressive
contacts between the people and the government. For example, campaigns and elections focus on
citizens and remind them that they have ultimate power, the vote. The campaigns of recent years are
increasingly extravagant and much longer than those of the past. Costing millions upon millions of
dollars, enticing the attention of the public anyway imaginable. With all of the expense and glamour,
the course of electing government officials offers peoples with important information concerning
matters and candidates credentials for office. Interest groups

Individualism And Society In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Society in a Different World
Have you ever thought of living in a place where everyone is the same and no one is different? Boring,
right. In the book Anthem, Ayn Rand fully expresses her thoughts about the role of individualism and
society. Anthem is a dystopian novella, written in 1937 and published in England in 1938. The book is
about a society, in which there is no I and only we is allowed. The dictatorship of Anthem tries to keep
the members of society brainwashed by focusing on the importance of obedience and equality which
justifies restricting people from pursuing individual freedom and limiting their knowledge and
vocabulary. Anthem is a critique of the political movements of Fascism and Communism in Europe
during the 1930 s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You shall do that which the Council of Vocations shall prescribe for you. (Rand 22). In the book, Rand
describes how the Council keeps its subjects manipulated, maintaining obedience through their strict
teaching. The main character Equality 7 2521 demonstrates how people are not allowed to follow their
own path and are victims of a repressive system, which rewards complacency and discourages
freethinking. In this society everyone must be just like everyone else. According to Equality 7 2521,
individuals have no identity of their own. In this society no one is allowed to choose what they do
with their lives, or even to think about what they want to do in the future. The Council of Vocations
punishes Equality 7 2521 for being different, which means being intelligent and loving science.
Instead of being made a scholar, which is what he really wants, Equality 7 2521 is made a street
sweeper. The irony is that Equality 7 2521 would better serve society as a scholar because of his great
intellectual gifts, but that would make individuals capable of distinguishing and separating themselves
from the Council. In another instance, Rand emphasizes the idea of control over knowledge and
vocabulary since We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One,
indivisible and forever (Rand 19). All names are

Sexual Harassment And Gender Harassment
1. Introduction
It is perhaps an exaggeration to recommend that no hypothetical work has been done around the area
of Sexual Harassment, as the primary systematic attempt to outline theoretical space of Sexual
Harassment and build up a complete classification system had started in the year 1980 (Fitzgerald et
al. 2010). Sexual Harassment is defined as the unprompted male conduct that asserts a women s sex
role over her function as employee or intimidation of a sexual nature or the inappropriate promises of
rewards in return for sexual favors (Fitzgerald 1990). In most of the modern cultures, it is very illegal
and illegitimate to intimidate a person because of person s sex. Sexual harassment is an issue which
has been prevailing in the current workplace and is a major attribute that prompts the effectiveness of
an organization as it plays a main role in the happiness of the employees which in turn results in goals
of overall company to be achieved (Reese et al. 2004). Employers should make this a top priority and
see that it is not effecting the performance of employees to achieve the goals of the organization
(Collier 1995). Information had been gathered through a survey which included females from two
diverse cultures who worked in a public sector company. The results showed that inappropriate
behavior and sexual harassment were co related and harassment based on gender was a bridge
amongst the two behaviors. In addition, these practices tend to happen again and

Did Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers Survive To Escape...
I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted escape from
Alcatraz. There are many facts supporting that they died, for example, the man eating sharks that live
in the ocean surrounding the prison. However, it s been proven that there are no man eating sharks in
the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne, swam from
Alcatraz to the mainland. Although there is the possibility of hypothermia and drowning in the
conditions they were in.This proves that the swim wouldn t be too life threatening, especially if you

Pros And Cons Of Zero Tolerance Policing
This study is aimed to investigate zero tolerance policing and the implementation of its policies into
society. By focusing on the pros and cons of this type of policing it will answer the overall question on
whether or not zero tolerance policing is efficient and effective within society. The theories behind
zero tolerance policing can provide specific reasons for why or why not policing needs more or less
discretion when performing certain functions. There are certain legal aspects that back up decisions
made by officers and targeting the statistical data provides the rates of effectiveness with zero
tolerance policing. Zero tolerance policing is data based upon implementation, the needs of the people
backed with the results of implementation decide which statistical method of policing is best for
society. Based on the finding from the data of societal measurement and effectiveness the decision on
whether or not to continue pursuing zero tolerance policing or revert to other methods can be
completely valid to specific fact based results.

  • 3. Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place Peter Mehari October 19, 2014 English A: Lit SL Aaron A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a café. He is deaf and there are two waiters who are watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While the old man is having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the older waiter with the younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are known as The Old Man, The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author conveys the idea of light and darkness symbolized in the characters and the café. While in the café when the waiters were speaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The café is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it. It represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is confusing and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he says, It was only that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The author doesn t really explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life meaning that life and man are nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as something. If the café is clean and well lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away. Another point the older waiter makes about the café why it needs these specific elements is because he needs the café to be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light in the café. Light is very important in the café because light removes the darkness. It is like when people are scared of darkness and all they are looking for is light. When the older waiter has locked up and was walking off he describes the awful nothingness of life nada y pues nada y nada y pues nada ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore, the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies around the world to prevent a military invasion. Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon. Suicide attacks are organized and ... Hassan is constantlyys tormented by Amir s meaningless tests to prove Hassan s loyalty. Now, it is Amir who has to prove to the world, and also to himself that he is worthy of Hassan s endless sincerity and devotion. She stood beaming under a dull grey sky, tears streaming down her cheeks, the needle cold wind blowing her hair, and clutching that baby in her arms like she never wanted to let go. Not this time. (211). The Kite Runner contains excellent examples of symbols, and a possible symbol in the book is Sohrab. When reading a book, objects or things are distinctly seen as symbols rather than people. Sohrab stands out as a character that has such an influence on others that he could be considered on of The Kite Runner s symbols. He is the only thing that Amir can connect to from his former life after Baba passed and Rahim Khan disappeared. He is the exact person that Sanaubar needed to come into her life. • 11. Choice Theory Vs Trait Theory Criminology Essay Theories are a significant part of developing a body of knowledge within an academic discipline. Within the domain of criminology, many theories have provided a foundation to stimulate the growth of this area of study. The beginning of criminology began with individual level theories; they focus on the perpetrator s individualistic features to answer the question of why crime occurs. Two major theories that divide the individual level theories are choice theory and trait theory. Both contain various principles within their unit. Choice theory involves classical criminology while trait theory relates to biological, psychological, and sociological determinism. These theories use different approaches to explain why individuals commit crime. Before legal policies and penal codes were developed, crime and punishment could be described as barbaric. The first step away from such harsh system and irrational crime provoking causes was with the development of classical criminology. In 1764, a man soon to be named the father of modern criminology, Cesare Beccaria developed a criminal justice system proposal which focused on aiding the people instead of the crown (Adler et al., 2007). • 13. Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students clinical knowledge and skills relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements about students individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. The Elements Of A Mediterranean Diet Mediterranean Diet The elements of a Mediterranean diet as I have come to know them through my stay here are bread, olive oil, wine, prosciutto, and cheese, along with pizza, pasta, and gelato. However, researchers studying the Mediterranean diet for its health effects would say that it consists of fruits, vegetables, legumes, cereal, fish, and a moderate intake of red wine with meals (Sofi, Cesari, Abbate, Gensini, Casini 337). Foods that are defined as being specifically opposed to the structure of the Mediterranean diet are red, processed meats and dairy products (Sofi, Cesari, Abbate, Gensini, Casini 337). Although, I would have to argue that cheese is eaten nearly in excess and is certainly a dairy product The Mediterranean diet receives so much attention because it is valued for its contribution to a healthy cardiovascular system. I have been advised by the ruling council of Neutralia to conduct research regarding whether the three communities, each following a different religion, (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) will be able to coexist together harmoniously and peacefully in our nation. • 22. Government Intervention And Laissez Faire Of Market... As evidenced by the plethora of explanations concerning it, the 2007 08 financial crisis that originated in the United States is highly complex. The literature presents various causes, most of which can be placed on either side of a debate between government intervention and laissez faire of market mechanisms. On one side, it is argued that financial actors are responsible for the crisis as a result of their use and distribution of complex and risky financial products, and their irresponsible lending. On the other side, the arguments centre on policy failures, or unintended consequences of government initiatives, as interventions into economic mechanisms. Some explanations see both financial markets and policy at the origin of the crisis, and some elements are common to all of these interpretations. Through these varying explanations, we may find certain facts about the time leading up to the crisis, explaining its nature and steps. The three main ingredients of the crisis were the following: a housing bubble, the securitization of mortgages or Mortgage Backed Securities (MBSs) and a credit expansion to leverage financial gains. In its most simple characteristics, the housing bubble was a long term trend in US housing markets for loans below the quality standard. More precisely, people were buying houses with loans that they had a low chance of repaying, especially considering the unpredictability of markets. Questions On The s Total Rows Of Numbers Lascap s Fraction Arshbir Aulakh Math IA 000277 0 International Baccalaureate Sir Winston Churchill Secondary Introduction In this investigation, I will consider these sets of numbers that are present in a symmetrical pattern. To commence this task, we will have to consider the five rows of numbers shown below. 1 1 1 3/2 1 1 6/4 6/4 1 1 10/7 10/6 10/7 1 1 15/11 15/9 15/9 15/11 1 Figure 1: The given symmetrical pattern These numbers are arranged in a Pascal s triangle, which is a triangular array of binomial coefficients that was named after a French mathematician Blaise Pascal. Lascap s Fraction is spelt backwards for Pascal s fraction and there should be a way to solve this. There is an interesting pattern in figure one where in the 1st row, there are two numbers and in the 2nd row, 3 numbers in the 3rd row, and so forth. So through this, we know that there is a new number introduced in every consecutive row. But there is an easier way to represent this pattern and to solve for the Pascal s triangle is by using this formula. 〖(x+y)〗^n=(n¦0) x^n y^0+(n¦1) x^n y^1+(n¦2) x^(n 2) y^2+⋯+(n¦(n 1)) x^1 y^(n 1)+(n¦n) x^0 y^n If there happens to be a formula for Pascal s fraction, then there should be a formula for tis Lascap s Fraction. Introduction It is perhaps an exaggeration to recommend that no hypothetical work has been done around the area of Sexual Harassment, as the primary systematic attempt to outline theoretical space of Sexual Harassment and build up a complete classification system had started in the year 1980 (Fitzgerald et al. 2010). Sexual Harassment is defined as the unprompted male conduct that asserts a women s sex role over her function as employee or intimidation of a sexual nature or the inappropriate promises of rewards in return for sexual favors (Fitzgerald 1990). In most of the modern cultures, it is very illegal and illegitimate to intimidate a person because of person s sex.
