Political Humor
At a Communist Party Congress it is announced that Communism has triumphed all over the
world. Even the United States has elected a Communist as President. The delegates dance in the
aisles, cheering like mad, except for an old man, who sits in the corner with a glum expression on
his face. Comrade, asks a delegate. Why are you not happy?
Because, says the old man, I wonder where we are going to buy our wheat next year.
This joke deals with the reality behind the five year plans and glorious statistics always announced
by the East European governments. Without America, and other Capitalist nations, the joke tells us,
Eastern European Communists countries would starve.

He was just joking and probably never thought his words would be recorded, but discovered that
the rest of the world didn t consider this joke humorous at all. The Polish News Agency PAP
commented that Reagan had called the Polish leadership a bunch of no good lousy bums a
couple of years earlier, while testing his microphone. The agency said that while Reagan didn t
say these words formally, he knew they would be spread by news agencies. The Standard, a
London paper called the joke a serious embarrassment and Le Monde suggested psychologists
would have to decide whether the statement was an expression of a repressed desire or the
exorcism of a dreaded phantom. Members of the British Labor Party described Reagan s remarks
as sick humor. The point, then, is that it is dangerous for politicians to joke around and very
dangerous when that politician is president of the United States.
George Bush Makes a Joke that Causes Trouble Politicians face danger when they try to be funny.
Consider a problem that George Bush had when he was campaigning for the 1988 Presidential
nomination. After a meeting with NATO diplomats, Bush learned that a recent Soviet military
exercise had been carried out without any mechanical breakdowns. He then said, thinking he was
being amusing: Hey, when those mechanics who keep those tanks running run out of work in the
Soviet Union, send them to Detroit, because we

Identification Of Civilian Population By The Hampshire...
The document is an from an archive taken from the Hampshire Record Office which includes a
government poster published in Britain during the time when WW2 had just began and evacuation
process had started to take place. Whilst carrying out research it is important to be able to
understand more about the context of this time. To some extent this poster is able to help us with
our understandingsurrounding some of the details about the evacuation process as well as being
able to analyse some of the information that the government provided the citizens with during this
time. Whilst trying to understand and develop my research on evacuees and how records were
kept and handled, this document specifically is able to provide some insight into the different
areas across Great Britain and possibly develop upon this in order to compare and contrast research
that is compiled over a period of time.
The title of this document is Important announcement Dispersal of civilian population , this clearly
shows us that the purpose of the document was to inform civilians and to provide them with
important information that was necessary for the majority of the public to read and understand
attentively. The first section of the poster is titled, Children under 15 . In this section of the poster,
it addresses the issue of children under 15 travelling and how they must be accompanied by their
mothers or another responsible adult at all times. This suggests that the

We Land On The Moon Research Paper
We Landed on the Moon ... Allegedly
On July 20, 1969 American astronauts, Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon at 20:18 UTC, allegedly. Conspiracists have a
theory that the moon landing was fake, and that it was really filmed in a studio. People think that
America wanted to be superior to Russia, so they faked it to show that they are more advanced in
technology associated with space travel. There is a great deal of evidence from the moon landing
that proves it is fake. During the moon landing astronaut Buzz Aldrin put down the American Flag
to show America was the first country to land on the moon. When he put the flag down the flag
waved. Except in space there is very little gravity, therefore if it was on the moon the flag wouldn t
of waved. Another piece of evidence that America/NASAfaked the moon landing was that in the ...

NASA said that the flag waved because Aldrin twisted the flag to get moon soil, which caused it
to wave. They responded to the theory about the weird shadow by saying, the moon s surface
reflects the sun and with the glare the stars would be hard to see. An astronomer named Phil Plait
said They were taking pictures at 1/150th or 1/250th of a second. In that amount of time, stars just
don t show up. NASA thinks that it s absurd that people think that the moon landing is fake and
people are just want to be against them.
When the moon landing happened it was during the Cold War. The Cold War was between the
world s two superpowers, The United States and Russia. They were competing over technology
advancement and who could do more. Conspiracists think that the United States didn t have the
technology to make it safely on the moon, so they faked it to beat Russia. Russia and the United
States always were finding ways to beat each other, so the United States wanted to show the world
that they were better and had new

Analysis Of The Book Of Cannibals
History: Whose Story Is It?
Interactions between people are often evaluated in terms of lands gained, lives lost, and valor
earned, but there is an arguably more powerful spoil of war that is rarely discussed: the right to
write the story. The victorious party gets to tell the tale, and indubitably the defeated are portrayed
extremely negatively if at all. Consider the many extant ancient Spanish texts compared to the lack
of decipherable Mayan texts: as part of their victory over the Mayans, the Spanish burned the
Yucatan almanacs. Cultural genocide of this sort is not rare by any means; imperialism leaves a
trail of extinct and dying cultures in its wake. The cannibalistic metaphor in Montaigne s Of
Cannibals as well as the essay itself illustrate how history is shaped by dominant narratives, made
even more evident in King s discussion of attitudes towards Native Americans in The Inconvenient
Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America.
Montaigne s description of natives consuming the defeated is analogous to European culture
displacing native culture. Just as the prisoner of war sang that part of him is his captor s own
fathers and grandfathers that he has previously consumed, the European domination of native
culture became another chapter in European history. The flesh the prisoner consumed, however, did
not retain its original shape. Instead, it was broken down and absorbed into his being. Similarly, the
European subsummation of Native American

An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve
Introduction
Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into
the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net.
This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to
position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts
are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the
body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice
serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of
the types of the serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With
this, it will look at the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the
muscles that are in use at the joints.
The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the
body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm
together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the
metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities
are used in different ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the
muscles in them are also required participating in the

Cell Phone While Driving
Cell phone usage while driving is a major source of distraction that could potentially lead to
accidents and consequently cause injury or loss of life. Technology has had a way of dealing
with distractions by coming up with hands free cell phones mounted on the dashboards of most
vehicles. But, even so, cell phones are still a source of distraction when driving regardless of the
fact that they are hand held or not. Therefore, even the choice for authorities to come up with
handheld bans still that does not achieve safety because the brain, the central organ is still
distracted. The thesis statement of this persuasive essay is that cell phone usage while driving has

Saving lives is the number one motive of avoiding using mobile phones while driving. Research
indicates that people are more likely to get involved in an accident, which could potentially lead
to death if the act of multitasking, in this case driving and texting is in progress. For instance, in
a study that was carried out in a higher institution of learning in a time frame of about 18
months, university students that were making use of a complex driving simulator came up with
the conclusion that people who use mobile phones when driving are eight times more likely to
encounter a car crash than those who do not (Park, 2017). Other research studies show that about
36 percent of young people have been involved in an almost crash scenario because they or
someone close to them was using a cell phone while driving. Mobile phone usage while driving
should not be allowed under any circumstances. Despite the fact that there are many reasons why
people should not use their mobile phones when driving, it is normally very hard to do so.
Additionally, there is a misunderstanding amongst the authorities and in this case the law makers on
the definition of distractions caused by mobile phones. That is why one group thinks that mobile
phone users should be banned completely regardless of the fact that the users are using hand held
or hands free phones. Another group thinks that cell phones are not a distraction and hence the ban
should be specific, i.e. so long as

The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie
The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie
The differences and the similarities between the novel The Pelican Brief by John Grisham and
the movie The Pelican Brief by Alan J. Pakula film. There were maybe similarities between the
novel and the movie. The story line and plot were basically the same in both the novel and the
movie. Then there were also many differences when the novel was made in to a movie. As in most
cases when a novel is made in to a movie there are certain things that are left out in the movie
version.
The novel and the movie were both very suspenseful. The main characters are both the same in the
book and in the movie but are a little bit different then their counter partners in the novel/movie. In

The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the ground was
somewhat important in the fact that it showed to state of anarchy our country is in, in this novel.
The movie neglected to use that scene in to the movie version of The Pelican Brief. The burning
down of the porno cinemas gave an example and showed how the Underground Military worked.
This in a sense excluded them from the list of suspects do to there expert use of explosives. If
they had indeed were the killers of the two Chief Justices they most likely would of stuck to
there area of expertise, explosives. The main difference between the novel and the movie is that
in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there involvement in the story is
explained. The movie doesn t really introduce u as well as the novel does and this makes it harder
to follow what is going on in the movie version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but
it seemed that it was poorly don in The Pelican Brief movie version. I can understand why its
easer for a novel to describe how and what they what you to know about a particular character.
Now in a movie it s your own perception that you make of a character.
The perception that the novel is usually better than the movie version in this case is true; I

Analysis Of MSNBC And Fox News
The last and final difficult conversation was a constructive and mind opening experience on the
premise of watching and receiving news. During this conversation, my group watched 20 minutes
of both MSNBC and Fox News and from there we collectively discussed it. Our first showing
was watching Fox News and for me personally it felt like I was watching the tabloids or some
might say a reality show. The reasoning behind my viewpoint of it was of them, the newscaster,
talking for a like a good 10 minutes about donuts and their relationship between the struggle of the
acting directors of Mike Mulvaney and Leandra English of the Consumer Financial Protection
Bureau. In addition, the newscasters are still reporting about President Trump s comment... Show

The only solution that I could think of voiding these differences is either through the elimination
and recreation of new news channel or the moderation of current news channels. Yet, this will
probably not happen because no news channel or person would be the one that blinks first;
everyone, no matter their demographics or background always wants to be right in some way.
The reflection period out of this conversation was for me shocking. As an engaged political
person, I at least try to be engaged with the news. I find that CBS and New York Times are the
most reliable news corporation out there with little to no bias at all, all facts. However, my
colleagues find that the current mainstream news media are becoming either gossip, tabloid, or
fake news channels. Respectively, I take offense to their beliefs on the basis that the news today is
fake. Throughout history, it has been the news and investigative journalism that led to the many
stories that transformed this nation into many shapes and forms. Without the news, a society will
be at worst an anarchist society where nobody trusts each other or a tyrannical society where the
populace will fall for anything that the state displays. It has been an American right of having
open news sources, do Americans want to disregard this right in favor of being handed a silver
platter of information from bias sources? Anyways, going back to

Essay about The Massacre in El Mozote as Told by Mark Danner
The Massacre at El Mozote as told by Mark Danner takes place El Salvador. El Salvador is the
smallest country in Central America. It shares borders with Guatemala and Honduras. El
Salvador is divided into 14 departments and El Mozote is a village in one of the Departments called
Morazan. According to the author, the Salvadoran Civil War 1979 1992 was a conflict waged by
the Military led Government of El Salvadorand coalition of left leaning militias or guerillas called

Also, the growing presence of the Soviets and Cuba in Nicaragua escalated the cold war and in
order to draw the line the Reagan administration doubled economic aid for El Salvador to a
hundred and forty four million dollars (pg 40). According to Danner, the priorities of American
Policy in El Salvador had become unmistakable (pg 41).Second, The American government was
opposed to dispatching American combat forces to Central America (pg 22) and in order to
prevent another Nicaragua, Congress agreed to reform the Salvadoran Army by financing,
training and arming its troops to fight the FMLN. As Danner notes, the Americans had stepped
forward to fund the war, but were unwilling to fight it . Third, the Monterrosa led Atlacatl led
batallion through American funding descended in El Mozote with the latest M 16 s, M 60
machines guns, 90 millimeter recoilless rifles, and 60 and 81 millimeter mortars (pg 39) and with
a list of names massacred an entire village because communism was cancer (pg 49). The U.S.
government was clearly responsible for the Massacre at El Mozote because without the funding,
supporting, and training of El Salvador troops the war would have been tilted in the guerillas favor
as they had managed to hold the disorganized army in certain areas. In contrast to neighboring
departments El Mozote and its inhabitants of born again Christians did not fit in as guerilla
sympathizers. In fact, the training at American hands

He was able to make valid arguments however, if his arguments were all true, then it would
suggest that everyone s taste in music is formulaic. There are some aspects in society that have a
structured format, like the education system, the world of sports, and more. Producing and
creating a song also has a structure. Adorno would say that popular music and its plugging are
focused on habituation (Adorno, On Popular ...32). In other words, the listener basically has to
listen to the song multiple times and be able to recognize the song in order to like it. If a listener
like a certain artist or type of music, repetition does not need to take place. Taylor Swift shows a
sense of passion when presenting her lyrics in a song, she creates emotion and engages with
society through her lyrics. People like Taylor Swift because, the lyrics of her songs are a big
reason for her popularity... and is known for writing lyrics that resonate with people (Quora 2015).
In addition to the standardized structure Adorno argues, while many of the music has the same
formula to one another and pseudo individualism plays a key part in believing about originality of
a song, Taylor Swift is infinitely known for writing her own lyrics compared to the many other
artist who have their songs written for them. This shows how while Swift follows the general verse,

Adversity In The Glass Castle
In the past 100 years, America has gone through two world wars, a great depression, and a
fluctuating economy all of which have made us stronger as a nation. Though adversity is a hard
thing to over come, it helps our society grow. Would America be the same if we had never gone
through the Great Depression? Of course not. There are however, other bouts of adversity that
even children can relate to. One may have abusive or alcoholic parents, or even experience death at
a young age. I can strongly agree with Horace in that adversity elicits talents, which would have lain
dormant in prosperous circumstances. Adversity, summed up, is the long term hardships and
misfortune that guide us into growing as people and as a country. If everyone was... Show more

However, if you don t know sadness, then how will you ever know true happiness? The answer
is simple; you never will. A little less than 80 years ago, World War II began and eventually the
whole world was at war. Americans experienced many hardships, such as having their loved ones
at war, financial troubles, and taking care of their families by themselves. Surprisingly, good
outcomes could possibly develop as a result of over 60 million people dead. For one, the creation
of the United Nations occurred right after the war. This is critically important to the world today
because now everyone is at peace. Another result of the war was women now started entering the
work force, and many gender roles disappeared because women were forced to do men s work
while their spouses were at war. This is extremely beneficial to American women today, mainly
because women would be treated differently. Although World War II was a very adverse time for
everyone, it made America stronger in the

Christ in Catholicism and Other Religions
The modern society is a highly pluralistic society. Rapid transmission of information in the
modern era and the ability of people to travel around the world on a larger scale has created
awareness that the world and the modern society has a multitude of diverse and contrasting
viewpoints on a variety of issues. This pluralism is evident in the realm of religionthan in any other
realm. Human awareness of the existence of the many religions in the world, today, is
unprecedented. Christians are aware of the existence of many other smaller religions apart from the

First, the truth found in all non Christian religions is attributable to God because he is the source of
every truth. The truth we know about God was universally known from the beginning.
There is a high possibility that the remnants of this revelation of the truth about God have survived
in the memory of different people around the world (Kalmin 133). It is also likely that some
elements of the truth about God were inculcated into some cultures through their ancient contact
with the chosen people of God, Israel, or with ancient Christians. For example, Prophet Mohammed
of the Islam religion had early contact with representatives of Christianity and Judaism (Smith
Christopher 34). Secondly it is important to recognize that where a twisted or false view on the
truth occurs, it is a result of the sinful nature of man repressing the truth he knows about God.
According to Romans 1:21, it is natural for human beings to repress the truth they know about, even
if it is quite evident to them. They substitute this truth with explanations that are futile. Finally,
Satan and his demon s role in influencing fake religious experiences and expressions cannot be
underestimated. Psalms 106:36 37 states that people who worship idols sacrifice to the demons. In
1 Timothy 4:1 Apostle Paul argued that Satan has an uncanny ability to appear disguised as an
angel of the light. In 2 Corinthians 11:15, Apostle

The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid
The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is
evident when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994. The system of
apartheid spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the
creation of a white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black
states, which required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international
condemnation did not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of
popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance.
Detentions were set without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional
organizations such as The African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian
Peoples Organisation, The Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a
result of the apartheid government due to political resistance.
In 1960 South Africa s policies were subject to international scrutiny and the Sharpeville massacre
resulted in international condemnation. The United Nations conservative stance on the apartheid
changed. The Sharpeville massacre had shaken the global community, with the apartheid regime
threatening that it would possess violent behavior and lead into state terror to repress opposition to
racial inequity. Apartheid was seen as a danger to the global community in

Gross Domestic Product
I.Introduction
1.Introduction and objectives
The wealth and success of a country is something that theoretically is very hard to measure and
quantify. However, tools called Indexes can be used to report on the past, present or future state
of country. The usage for these Indexes is quite obvious: they can be used to benchmark the
situation of a country compared to its peers, create historical trends in order to estimate if any
improvements have been made throughout the years in multiple fields. Of course, they can also
be used as political tools for the world leaders for internal purposes (linked to government
policies) but also external policies as it can be a mean to determine the power that a country can
have on the international level. The main Index that has been used for the past 80 years and is still
used nowadays to measure the economic wealth is the Gross Domestic Product (or GDP). It is
important to remember that the initial goal of these indexes (and particularly the GDP) is to
measure and give a detailed report of the addition, subtraction and multiplication of certain numbers
that compose a country s economy. Therefore, a measurement tool is not an end goal in itself.
Nevertheless, this index became the reason for an international competition between countries to
decide which one is the most able to bring this number to the maximum. This might not be an issue
if the GDP was not mainly a measurement of the economic wealth of a country. During the years,

Vietnam War Influence
Initially, the war in Vietnam was in many ways, trivial involving only limited action by a world
superpower on distant battlefields of the Third World. However, US commitment in Southeast Asia
persisted across fifteen years, marking it as the longest war in American History. The conflict took
place during and thus became intertwined with the turbulent cultural and social uprisings of the
1960s, ultimately shifting the country s course over the latter half of the 20th century. A flashpoint
in the Cold War, the Vietnam War was essentially a contest of diplomatic and ideological hostility
and an extension of the US s policy of containment, which later exposed a myriad of other

Alexander II And Alexander The Great
A tactician is defined as someone who is good at planning tactics; Philip II and Alexander the
Great would not fall under this name because they were not good at planning tactics, they were
disputed to be the best at planning them. Alexander III the Great was born in 356 BC in the capital
of Macedonia; Pella. Growing up Alexander watched his father turn Macedoniainto a great military
power . Philip II was the first to create an unstoppable Macedonian army and his son Alexander
would further expand the efficiency and power of such army. In the spring of 336 BC a
Macedonian noble named Pausanias assassinated Philip II . With Philip s death came many new
changes to the empires known at that time. Alexander III as Philip s only successor became king
at the age of twenty and Philip s dream of conquering the Persian Empire was now on the
shoulders of Alexander . This would be the driving force for the fall of the Persian Empire and
the huge expansion of the Macedonian Empire. Within 13 years Alexander created the largest
empire of his time; this was done by, being a military genius that used lateral thinking to defeat
often larger and superior forces, a disciplined army created by his father Philip II and the spread of
increased trade routes along with the acceptance of Greek civilization and ideas.
Philip II ascended the throne in what was one of the most difficult times of Macedonia. As King,

The Matthew Effect Rhetorical Analysis

Gretzky shoots, he scores! This is a common occurrence for Wayne Gretzky, a former NHL
player who holds the record for most career regular season goals (894), assists (1,963), points
(2,857), and hat tricks (50). Most people would say Gretzky s success all stems from his innate
talent, but in The Matthew Effect, Gladwell argues that innate talent is not the only reason for
success. He reveals there s a much more surprising reason. In Gladwell s chapter, The Matthew
Effect, the controversial writer expertly asks rhetorical questions and uses charts and statistics to

academic success. The rhetorical question is a simple yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without these two strategies, Gladwell would have failed to draw attention and transition from
section to section, or build up to and eventually defend his claim with any undeniable facts.
Statistics and rhetorical questions do not only apply to arguments about success, but they are
also rhetorical mediums that can be and are used in a variety of ways. Rhetorical questions can
be seen on posters, in ads, and in any strong paper. How s that for applicability? Statistics are
most commonly found in visual advertisements and websites. They use evidence that cannot be

The Accomplishments Of Sam Houston
Contrary to the typical stereotypes of Texans, Sam Houston was much more than a drunkard and
an excellent gunslinger. Although, he possessed these traits as well, Houston displayed a certain
level of maturity, honor, and critical thinking that most men, or even women, at the time did not
own. To assume Sam Houston was a one trick pony, or only skilled in one aspect merely because
of his heritage and place of birth would be an understatement, as his father was a major . The tall,
handsome troublemaker did not fit in with the standard expected of boys or men during his time,

After a few years of going to church with his family fervently on Sundays, fourteen year old Sam
lost his father, which later on would describe as Only one for passion, a military life .
In his early life, and for the rest of it, Sam Houston s reputation was that of a rebel and a
troublemaker due to the problems he would get himself into. Subsequently, he did not work as
hard or as fervently as his siblings during his childhood, whether it be on the family farm or the
general store they owned in Maryland, and that particularly undesirable trait would follow him into
his death. Sam ran away multiple times a child and young adult, finding himself among a new

closer to this adopted family than his own, becoming an honorary member of this group; Houston

The Entertainment and Media Culture
There are many different forms of entertainment media that has made an impact on the American
culture. However, the one I feel that has made the biggest impact on American culture is the music
industry.
I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music was smooth, it
spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in a calm manner, they danced
in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music took on a distinctive style, therefore, the
dances and the clothing took on a different style. The clothing began to show body parts, the
stomach was the main part that showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept
your body covered. When the music changed, the kids changed.
In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as well as, the
disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. Their clothing, haircuts, and
even their language changed. It got to be such a drastic change where men were wearing makeup
and as much jewelry as the women were. Then came the Gangsta Rap, which brought about the
gang scene. Everybody was wearing their clothes extra big and baggy. The wearing of a certain
color meant you represented a certain gang and the wearing of your cap meant something else,
however, it all represented gang signs.

Reflection Of Consumer Chemistry
INTRODUCTION: Nowadays, people here in this world are using science in their everyday lives.
When you fry a fish, there s a science. When you wash your clothes, there s a science behind it.
Everything is science. There are different branches of science. Including Biology, Botany, Zoology,
and many more. But one of the most used in everyday life in the branches of science is the
CHEMISTRY. It is a branch of physical science that deals with composition, structure, properties
and changes of matter. Chemistry is the one who is responsible for photosynthesis (plants making

Evaluation Of Dekalb, Illinois Development Plan

process to come up with problems, goals, fixes and implementation strategies. This paper will be a
summary and evaluation of DeKalb, Illinois development plan. It was adopted in March of 2005.
There were both strong aspects to the plan, as well as areas that need much work to it. DeKalb s
plan considers multiple aspects for the developmentof many aspects of the community. The plan
starts with the Desired Development direction. This was the beginning of their update to list off
five broad elements for the future of the city including sustainability, continuous improvement,
character, connectivity and cohesion. To follow these five elements, many meetings were held,
a few large and many small, to get a view from a wide range of people on what problems the city
was facing. Multiple organizations were in these meetings such as the DeKalb Chamber of
Commerce and the DeKalb Sanitary District Board. There were similar ideas thrown out by all
groups that related to the character issues which include identifying DeKalb as a university town
and the safety of the city. Influences outside of DeKalb include the Rochelle rail port and the
Elburn Metra Train to help people travel into and out of the city. The population growth is one
issue that the plan has to focus on. Much of the population growth in the ten years before this plan
was due to an increase in diverse culture. Land uses from high

Mary Seacole Essay
How far do the sources suggest that Mary Seacole was a great help to the men in the Crimea ?
Mary Seacole is praised in both sources 1 and 2, but in source 3 it seems that Nightingale
disagrees in terms of her method of helping the men, although she did some good. Source 1 and
2 both agree that she was a great help but for different reasons. Source 1 is agreeing to this
mainly because of the fact that it is written by Sir John Hall who I Head of the Army Medical
Services and we know that Seacole was rejected by all hospitals, and he would not want to write
about declining one of the most loved and charitable woman in Britain at the time, especially
throughout the army, the assistance she gave them, made her beloved by the rank... Show more

Similarly source 3 also mentions no doubt she did some good but in this case it is begrudging
praise from Nightingale, and we know she s being honest because it is a letter that she
instructed her brother in law to burn after being read, so we get an accurate view of Nightingale
s opinion. This source is linked to the other 2 sources because it is at the time which Seacole was
getting a rapturous reception and in the other sources Seacole is getting praise but also all three
sources state somewhere in their content that she did help the men in the Crimea. Source 3 has
both fragments of agreement and disagreement and it differs from the other sources because it
doesn t completely agree with the other 2 sources and it can be seen as an emotionally charged
letter, as Seacole is getting so much praise in England, so it could suggest she s jealous of the
reception she s receiving back in England. As well as this it seems that she is the odd one out,
because everyone else has a huge love for Seacole apart from her. Nightingale also adds criticisms
to her methods of helping the men as she calls Seacole s hotel a bad house and she says that she
introduced much drunkenness and improper conduct which could be showing her jealousy as she
dismisses the fact that she helps the men, but she is ery picky on her methods. In source 3,

Charles Bukowski s Poem, A Genius, And Power Of The Human...
But there is genius in their hatred, there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you (Lines 23 24).
In Charles Bukowski s poem, A Genius in the Crowd, he speaks pessimistically about the human
brain and disrespects the good that comes from it, yet does not hold back on describing its power.
He uses dark, extreme examples to describe hidden truths in today s society. In Emily Dickinson s
poem, [The Brainis wider than the Sky ], she talks about the power of the human brain,
complimenting and respecting it to things thought to be incomparable. Both Dickinson s and
Bukowski s poems show the strength and power of the human mind, but their views on what the
brain accomplishes are far from similar.

As stated in the literary criticism, The Brain Is Wider Than the Sky, The brain is compared with
God, and weighing is the metaphor, not containing. The brain is only or exactly ( just ) the
weight of God. Dickinson was raised in a Calvinist household and knew the Bible well, so she
probably would have known that one of the Old Testament Hebrew words translated as glory
also means weight, . (Thompson, Evan) The word weight or glory is meant to stand for great
beauty. This means that the brain was even above god and that there was even deeper meaning
to what Dickinson was saying about the brain. This supports my claim stating that the brain wasn
t comparable to that of god s, rather that it was above and beyond. Emily Dickinson is comparing
the brain to the great beauty of god. With the word weight, actually meaning glory, we can imply
that she is complimenting the brain. Dickinson speaks of the respect that the brain deserves and
compliments the usefulness of its abilities, where Bukowski s is proclaiming the power of its
nature of destruction. In Bukowski poem he exclaims his hatred through acts, stating, But there is
genius in their hatred / there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you. (Lines 23 24) Bukowski
is claiming that the genius is the human brain is derived from hatred and the roots of evil. He
elaborates in the next line and claims that the power of their genius is only in their hatred for you

Comparing The Wanderer And The Seafarer
One of the most tragic fates that an Anglo Saxon man or woman could ever have to face is exile.
In the Anglo Saxon poems such as the The Wanderer and the The Seafarer , the authors experience
times of exile while sailing the oceans. They tell tales of men set out at sea, describing their life
lives filled with loneliness and complete desolation. In both poems, the setting of the rough, open
seas highlights the theme of exile and plays an integral role in representing the distance and
conflicts between the main characters and society. As they follow paths of suffering and affliction,
the ruthless seas further torment their lives, only adding to their feelings of loneliness and exile.

Thus said the wanderer mindful of misery
Grievous disasters, and death of kin(3 7)
While he is at sea, the wanderer is met with harsh conditions such as the wintry seas and the icy
wave . Also, the tragic loss of the man s king and comrades has left him homeless and helpless ,
further adding to the conflicts that he must bear. The cruel waters show no mercy and show up
wherever the man may go:
Then again surges his sorrow upon him;
And grimly he spurs his weary soul
Once more to the toil of the tossing sea. (49 51)
The seas are relentless and as they play a major role in the wanderer s journey, they exist as a
representation of his inner feelings of loneliness and exile. The setting not only acts as a
representation, but also as an instigator as it constantly causes the wanderer anguish surges
sorrow upon him and spurs his weary soul . Similarly, The Seafarer shows the ocean to be a
force that further emphasizes and worsens a man s feelings of desolation and exile. In The
Seafarer , a man recalls his travels aboard a ship travelling the winter seas and about all the
hardships and suffering he was forced to endure. The first lines of the poem describe how deeply
the setting affects the main

Family Dynamics In The United States
There are many different family dynamics in today s society. But what really makes a family?
Every definition found has defined family, in simple terms, as A father and a mother raising their

Different aspects come into play in families such as divorce, death, and abandonment that can
redefine the familystructure, either for the better or for the worse. A family does not have to

With a favorable economy more children are being born hence family life revolves around
having more children and having more fun. Consider the post World War II baby boom as an

will result in healthier children than in a poor economy because of a lack of health care, clean
water, food. Also, healthy people tend to make more money than sick people. But what about the
economy of single mothers? Most western countries find that single mothers are more likely to be
poorer than a two parent household, especially if there are already two to three children. This
correlates back to the health of the children. A study was done examining eight different countries

Organisms in our society are always interacting with one another on a daily basis. These
interactions impact the fate of the organisms lives, and that of the rest of the ecosystem. These
interactions can either be direct and indirect. A direct organism affects an organism without outside

father. Along with Carlos, 21 innocent people were killed at the McDonald s located in San
Ysidro, California. Carlos is the youngest victim to gun violence till this date. His death is the
result of the killer having easy access to a semiautomatic pistol and a shotgun (Berkowitz et al,

recently brokered a partnership with VIKA, Ltd., a Ukrainian quarrying company, to broaden
their product offering and remain competitive with overseas competition. Reduce overhead and
streamline operations Having recently sold the Retail division, ROA seeks to decrease
redundant job functions and administrative office space costs. ROA focuses on product
differentiation through quality. The only company who offers a perpetual warranty (guaranteed
forever), ROA products set the standard for granite memorials. Situation Analysis ROA s
situation is defined largely by recent financials. They have demonstrated year over year decline
in revenue, profit, and net income since 2003 as demonstrated in Figure 1 (below). (MSN
Money, 2008) Figure 1 ROA s 2006 and 2007 financials have been resubmitted to accommodate
for the discontinuation of the Retail organization, providing skewed trend lines. However, one
will still note continued decline of net income between 2006 and 2007 in spite of a slight increase
in both revenue and gross profit. This additional loss has been attributed to the costs of
discontinued operations (Retail), and constitutes a $5.2 million cost in 2007. The resubmission of
2006 financials have repositioned 2006 as a bounce back year for

NYPD Red Book Report
NYPD RED Book Review
NYPD Red was written by authors James Patterson and Marshall Karp, who both award winning
authors, and is well known for many their great books. Patterson is the main author and he has
sold many books, which he has won many awards for. Patterson hooked me into this book after a
few chapters, I just want to read, read, read.....
NYPD is a fictional book, packed with action and drama, it is about protecting the rich, the
famous and the Hollywood movie stars, at the present day New York City, which has a big event
going on, where every single Hollywood star come to act, known as Hollywood on the Hudson.
Detective Zach Jordan is a part of the NY s elite force known as NYPD Red, but things get
awkward when his ex Kylie MacDonald, come to help solve a crime case, due to the fact that his
partner broke his ankle at a softball game. NYPD Red protect and serve high profile individuals
and moguls.

I learnt that Jordan and MacDonald, had dated each other, yet they still have a bit of chemistry,
although she is married to a wealthy television producer. This was my first time reading a crime
novel before, I have read many action novels, but not about crime. I gave this book a try, for a
few reasons. One of them is like the title of the book, NYPD Red , because, from the title, I know
that it is based in New York, one of my favourite cities in the world, and I knew it would be
something about crime. Another reason is due to the fact that, I like crime shows, e.g, Hawaii
Five O, Quantico, and Shades of Blue. So why don t I read a book about crime, it would help me
in English. The detectives always kept me on my toes and making me flip that page after

Folk Hero Funny Guy
Folk Hero Funny Guy won t go down in anyone s book as a great film. On the other hand, you
would be hard pressed to find someone to hate it. It is simply fine. One of those movies where
using the phrase a pretty good flick to describe it would be accurate. Folk Hero Funny Guy is a
light, amusing bromance road trip movie. The filmwas started on Kickstarter, and is the directorial
debut of actor Jeff Grace. It follows Paul (Alex Karpovsky), a failing stand up comedian in the
midst of a for lack of a better term quarter life crisis. Paul s friend Jason (Wyatt Russell), on the
other hand, is a successful folk rock musician who is looking for a change of pace by going on a
solo, acoustic tour to smaller, more intimate crowds. After a night of drinking and catching up,
Jason invites Paul to be the opening act on his new tour in order to get Paul out of the house and
out of his rut. After much convincing, Paul eventually accepts. Think sort of like if Father John
Misty went on tour, and his opening act was your sort of funny friend. What follows is your pretty
typical road trip movie, complete with hijinx, misadventures, and montages.... Show more content

The concept itself is an interesting one, the ending is deserved (if wildly predictable), and in
between there is enough chemistry, good folk music, and comedy to keep you engaged. While
Karpovsky and Russell do a fine job, the real show stealer is Meredith Hagner, playing Bryn, a
small town folk singer who the duo meet on the first night of the tour, and whom Jason drunkenly
invites to join them on the rest of the tour. Hagner brings her A game here, adding heart and
realism to a part which is essentially a plot device for Paul and Jason to have a falling out over.
The soundtrack is another strong point, featuring songs written by folk singer Adam Ezra, as well
as some of the cast

Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero Essay
Muhammad Ali Is NOT a Hero
To be a hero, someone could save others, respect their country, and care. The firefighters from the
Fire Department of New York have all of these characteristics, even thought they aren t perfect.
Everyday, they risk their lives to save others. They show their patriotism even on the trucks they
drive through the cities. Most of all they don t just do it because it s their job; they do it because
they care. Unlike the people at FDNY, Muhammad Ali is violent, separatist, and rude.
The first reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is violent. For almost all of his life he
fought in boxing matches that all started when he was a boy because he wanted to beat up the kid
who stole his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is he was a separatist who did not respect his
country. He became part of the Nation of Islam. They believed Blacks should break off from other
Americans. Also, in April 1967, Ali refused induction into the U.S. Army, claiming exempt status
as a Muslim minister (Abeles). When asked why he dodged the draft, Ali replied, I ain t got no
quarrel with them Viet Cong, no Viet Cong ever called me n (Biography.com). Because his
separatist beliefs and actions, Muhammad Ali did not show respect for his country.
The third reason Muhammad Ali isn t a hero is because he is rude. He would always taunt his
opponents. Before one of his matches, he taunted Liston calling him the bear and verbally defused
the famous stare as being just plain ugly (Myers 46). When Ali fought George Foreman in Zaire, he
had the Africans chant Ali bumbaye which means Ali kill him (When). Some sportswriters were
against Ali for this reason. Only a rude man like Muhammad Ali would do and say these things.
Because of his violence, rudeness, and separatist beliefs, Muhammad Ali in no way compares to
the men at the Fire Department of New York. While they have saved lives, Muhammad Ali has
just beaten people up. Spiderman is another example of a hero; he saved lives, respected his
country, and cared for the people he was saving. FDNY is just as good as Spiderman,

Anger In Speak
Laurie Halse Anderosn has written a book which is considered as a trauma novel speak .
Usually anger is a phase that begins with madness and ends with regret, but in this book anger
will be tackled in different way, Melinda s anger starts with silence and ends with speaking. In
other words it s starts with fear and ends with triumph over self. Over the course of the novel
silence struggling with anger is leading to speak. Anderson incorporated all themes in anger
direction with different techniques such as flashback, allusion, symbolism, and fragmentation.
The story started in an ambiguous atmosphere ,as readers don t know what happened to Melinda
she refused to speak she only wants to live in her isolation. some people in their depression tries
to speak, and others chooses to keep themselves silent and get stressed when they are given a
heavy workload, like why me ? ,as they are too weak or shame to face the world around them
,and this exactly what happened to Melinda in this novel .People experiencing passive anger
may not even realize they are angry, because passive angry maybe repressed, it can be hard to
recognize. In this long term, these suppressed angry feelings can easily be a main reasson for
psychological suffering. As readers can only notice that she carried a folded story that will be
displayed through flashback ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the novel clarify Melinda s inability to speak after the rape. Throughout the chapters of the story

as a sign of beauty. The ugliness of her mouth represents the ugliness and shame she feels inside
her mind as well as her inability to take care of herself. Later, as Melinda begins to heal and learns

Electoral College Advantages
The Electoral College, used to elect presidential candidates in the United States, has degenerated
into an ineffective and inefficient system. Although the Electoral College had never been
implemented before, the Founding Fathers nevertheless built America with this election structure,
to not only experiment with this new technique but to hopefully find a solution to an electionprocess
that they expected would shortly involve millions of citizens. The Electoral Collegedoes include
several beneficial advantages to the American election process, but for the most part, the
Electoral College is a dysfunctional election method. The disproportionate distribution of
electoral votes throughout the country demonstrates the Electoral College s ineffectiveness.
Voters in smaller states have far more electors per capita than do voters in big states. For
example, we look at states such as Wyoming. This state has a population of 584 thousand. It is
the least populated state in America. Only 284 thousand of these citizens are registered to vote.
Wyoming is allocated three electors for the Electoral College, for its two senators and one lonely
house representative. This gives the state of Wyoming one elector for every 95 thousand voters: a
miniscule amount compared to other states. Then we examine a state like Florida, one of the
largest populated states. Florida has 19.9 million citizens, and is allocated 29 electoral votes. The
number of registered voters in Florida totals

Prison Overcrowding And The United States
Nelson Mandela once said, It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its
jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones. The
prisons in the United States have been overcrowded for many years and require a change in order
to fix this. Some of the main causes for prisonovercrowding that will be covered in this paper are
mass incarceration, long sentencing, recidivism, and prisoners of drug crimes. Overcrowding of
prisons in the United States is a major issue that affects not only the prisoners themselves, but
taxpayers and politicians. Although there are many different solutions to prison overcrowding
such as building more prisons, alternative and shorter sentences, etc., the issue is still prevalent.
Some feel the best way to deal with overcrowding is to build more prisons to accommodate the
large influx of prisoners. Others feel the best mode of action to solve this problem is through
shorter, and alternative sentencing, which frees up space for serious offenders of the law. This
paper argues that shorter, and alternative prison sentences are the most effective way to reduce the
prison population in the United States. Prisons and their overcrowding is a controversial topic not
to be taken lightly. There are an incredible number of people in American prisons today. For
example, according to Peter Katel, there are more people in prison right now in the United States
than any other country. The

Students may point out that this type of economy required slave labor and that the development

DBQ 2: The Reasons for Declaring Independence in 1776 From previous instruction in American
history at earlier grade levels, students often have in mind the idea that unfair taxation and trade
restrictions caused English colonists to declare their independence. This DBQ asks them to
consider such economic factors and weigh them against an array of other possibilities, some of
which are suggested in the question. Students must consider factors and provide a rationale for
which of these sets of ideas is of greater importance. Once again, the results of students analyses

Different Times, Different Ideals
Different Times, Different Ideals The world is a very different place than it was 1,000 years ago.
There was a time in our history that women were not valued for anything other than their sexual
function, and they were expected to quietly tumble into the social image men created for them.
Racism also was commonplace and widely accepted, and violence was a casual occurrence of life
then. This time period is known as the Victorian Era. A very widely known children s book today
was actually written during this time period by J.M. Barrie Peter Pan. This novel created for
children contains the Victorian Era s socially accepted ideals relating to sexism, racism, and
violence and the physical acts resulting from the prevalence of these ideas at that time, which are
most certainly outdated and considered inappropriate for children in today s society despite the
obviously uninformed popularity that remains with this tale.
This book displays its sexism quite openly. There is an ongoing battle of two exceedingly different
sides of womanhood throughout the story. It encourages the engagement between a mother like
figure and a harlot. Throughout the novel, all the female characters must either be parental or crave
the companionship of a male character, which often results in jealousy. Wendy and Tinker, being
the two main female characters of the story, represent these two different types of women
acceptable in the Victorian Era.
Wendy, who is a mother like figure to the Lost Boys

Scientific Thinking, Economic Reasoning and Their...
The Caribbean has had celebrated economists who, in their works, always sought to define the
Caribbean experience and produce solutions to the region s problems. Their achievements arose
out of a need for a Third World economic story that was separate from that developed in more
advanced nations. Economics, however, has been regarded as a dismal science (Carlyle 1849) and
some have questioned if it is a science at all. For this essay, we assume that economics is a science
and ask Is and was scientific reasoninga part of economic reasoning in the Caribbean? The analysis
for this paper therefore considers both the publications based on the Caribbean from the 1960s and
1970s and the recent analytical trend in the Caribbean.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dunbar in another article (undated) included expertise as part of the scientific thinking. Ayalon and
Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though,
indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may
be a part of another process. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be
discussed but with considerations of other authors.
Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing.
In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a
combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for
their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred
to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and
abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under
other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an
individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning
process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).

Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans
From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them
in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration.
Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and
established the MassachusettsBay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did
Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its
formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of
which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by
Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture
that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the
notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were
often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the
Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of
Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of
predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to
heaven and those who were going to hell. While many Puritans considered predestination to mean
that they had to live a pious life in the event that

Aaron Copland was born November 14th 1900 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the youngest of
five children to Sarah Mittenthal, his mother and Harris Copland, his father. He had two
brothers, Ralph and Leon and two sisters Laurine and Josephine. As early as the age of nine, he
began making up songs on the piano and two years later, his older sister Laurine began giving
him piano lessons. In 1914, Copland began studying with his first professional piano teacher,
Ludwig Wolfsohn in Brooklyn, New York. His first public performance as a pianist was in 1917,

Aaron Copland died on December 2nd 1990 in North Tarrytown, New York at the age of ninety.
Without question his most famous work is his Pulitzer Prize winning Appalachian Spring with
which he received the prestigious award in 1945. Commissioned by American dancer and
choreographer Martha Graham in 1943, Copland finished the work a year later while teaching at
Harvard. The song had a traditional American sound much like his previous works, Quiet City
and Billy the Kid and won immediate success with audiences when it debuted in Washington,
D.C. on October 30, 1944. The material of the piece is largely folk and even incorporates an old
shaker song called Simple Gifts by Elder Joseph Brackett written in 1848. One song, a patriotic
piece called A Lincoln Portrait was written at the beginning of World War II after Copland was
commissioned to write a musical portrait of an eminent American political figure. He quoted
original folk songs of the time such as the well known Camptown Races and also included material
from letters and speeches Lincoln had given.
When looking at the characteristics of his work, Copland could most likely be described as an
experimentalist. He often enjoyed mixing various stylistic ideas of Jazz and Mexican dance
rhythms into his music and did not shy away from including these styles into his film scores and

  • 2. Political Humor At a Communist Party Congress it is announced that Communism has triumphed all over the world. Even the United States has elected a Communist as President. The delegates dance in the aisles, cheering like mad, except for an old man, who sits in the corner with a glum expression on his face. Comrade, asks a delegate. Why are you not happy? Because, says the old man, I wonder where we are going to buy our wheat next year. This joke deals with the reality behind the five year plans and glorious statistics always announced by the East European governments. Without America, and other Capitalist nations, the joke tells us, Eastern European Communists countries would starve. Earl Butz s Ethnic Joke In 1974, Earl Butz, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We begin bombing in five minutes. He was just joking and probably never thought his words would be recorded, but discovered that the rest of the world didn t consider this joke humorous at all. The Polish News Agency PAP commented that Reagan had called the Polish leadership a bunch of no good lousy bums a couple of years earlier, while testing his microphone. The agency said that while Reagan didn t say these words formally, he knew they would be spread by news agencies. The Standard, a London paper called the joke a serious embarrassment and Le Monde suggested psychologists would have to decide whether the statement was an expression of a repressed desire or the exorcism of a dreaded phantom. Members of the British Labor Party described Reagan s remarks as sick humor. The point, then, is that it is dangerous for politicians to joke around and very dangerous when that politician is president of the United States. George Bush Makes a Joke that Causes Trouble Politicians face danger when they try to be funny. Consider a problem that George Bush had when he was campaigning for the 1988 Presidential nomination. After a meeting with NATO diplomats, Bush learned that a recent Soviet military exercise had been carried out without any mechanical breakdowns. He then said, thinking he was being amusing: Hey, when those mechanics who keep those tanks running run out of work in the Soviet Union, send them to Detroit, because we ... • 3. Identification Of Civilian Population By The Hampshire... The document is an from an archive taken from the Hampshire Record Office which includes a government poster published in Britain during the time when WW2 had just began and evacuation process had started to take place. Whilst carrying out research it is important to be able to understand more about the context of this time. To some extent this poster is able to help us with our understandingsurrounding some of the details about the evacuation process as well as being able to analyse some of the information that the government provided the citizens with during this time. Whilst trying to understand and develop my research on evacuees and how records were kept and handled, this document specifically is able to provide some insight into the different areas across Great Britain and possibly develop upon this in order to compare and contrast research that is compiled over a period of time. The title of this document is Important announcement Dispersal of civilian population , this clearly shows us that the purpose of the document was to inform civilians and to provide them with important information that was necessary for the majority of the public to read and understand attentively. The first section of the poster is titled, Children under 15 . In this section of the poster, it addresses the issue of children under 15 travelling and how they must be accompanied by their mothers or another responsible adult at all times. This suggests that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. We Land On The Moon Research Paper We Landed on the Moon ... Allegedly On July 20, 1969 American astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon at 20:18 UTC, allegedly. Conspiracists have a theory that the moon landing was fake, and that it was really filmed in a studio. People think that America wanted to be superior to Russia, so they faked it to show that they are more advanced in technology associated with space travel. There is a great deal of evidence from the moon landing that proves it is fake. During the moon landing astronaut Buzz Aldrin put down the American Flag to show America was the first country to land on the moon. When he put the flag down the flag waved. Except in space there is very little gravity, therefore if it was on the moon the flag wouldn t of waved. Another piece of evidence that America/NASAfaked the moon landing was that in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NASA said that the flag waved because Aldrin twisted the flag to get moon soil, which caused it to wave. They responded to the theory about the weird shadow by saying, the moon s surface reflects the sun and with the glare the stars would be hard to see. An astronomer named Phil Plait said They were taking pictures at 1/150th or 1/250th of a second. In that amount of time, stars just don t show up. NASA thinks that it s absurd that people think that the moon landing is fake and people are just want to be against them. When the moon landing happened it was during the Cold War. The Cold War was between the world s two superpowers, The United States and Russia. They were competing over technology advancement and who could do more. Conspiracists think that the United States didn t have the technology to make it safely on the moon, so they faked it to beat Russia. Russia and the United States always were finding ways to beat each other, so the United States wanted to show the world that they were better and had new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Book Of Cannibals History: Whose Story Is It? Interactions between people are often evaluated in terms of lands gained, lives lost, and valor earned, but there is an arguably more powerful spoil of war that is rarely discussed: the right to write the story. The victorious party gets to tell the tale, and indubitably the defeated are portrayed extremely negatively if at all. Consider the many extant ancient Spanish texts compared to the lack of decipherable Mayan texts: as part of their victory over the Mayans, the Spanish burned the Yucatan almanacs. Cultural genocide of this sort is not rare by any means; imperialism leaves a trail of extinct and dying cultures in its wake. The cannibalistic metaphor in Montaigne s Of Cannibals as well as the essay itself illustrate how history is shaped by dominant narratives, made even more evident in King s discussion of attitudes towards Native Americans in The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America. Montaigne s description of natives consuming the defeated is analogous to European culture displacing native culture. Just as the prisoner of war sang that part of him is his captor s own fathers and grandfathers that he has previously consumed, the European domination of native culture became another chapter in European history. The flesh the prisoner consumed, however, did not retain its original shape. Instead, it was broken down and absorbed into his being. Similarly, the European subsummation of Native American ... • 6. An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve Introduction Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net. This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of the types of the serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With this, it will look at the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the muscles that are in use at the joints. The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities are used in different ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the muscles in them are also required participating in the ... • 7. Cell Phone While Driving Cell phone usage while driving is a major source of distraction that could potentially lead to accidents and consequently cause injury or loss of life. Technology has had a way of dealing with distractions by coming up with hands free cell phones mounted on the dashboards of most vehicles. But, even so, cell phones are still a source of distraction when driving regardless of the fact that they are hand held or not. Therefore, even the choice for authorities to come up with handheld bans still that does not achieve safety because the brain, the central organ is still distracted. The thesis statement of this persuasive essay is that cell phone usage while driving has a negative impact on the overall road users as they compromise safety.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saving lives is the number one motive of avoiding using mobile phones while driving. Research indicates that people are more likely to get involved in an accident, which could potentially lead to death if the act of multitasking, in this case driving and texting is in progress. For instance, in a study that was carried out in a higher institution of learning in a time frame of about 18 months, university students that were making use of a complex driving simulator came up with the conclusion that people who use mobile phones when driving are eight times more likely to encounter a car crash than those who do not (Park, 2017). Other research studies show that about 36 percent of young people have been involved in an almost crash scenario because they or someone close to them was using a cell phone while driving. Mobile phone usage while driving should not be allowed under any circumstances. Despite the fact that there are many reasons why people should not use their mobile phones when driving, it is normally very hard to do so. Additionally, there is a misunderstanding amongst the authorities and in this case the law makers on the definition of distractions caused by mobile phones. That is why one group thinks that mobile phone users should be banned completely regardless of the fact that the users are using hand held or hands free phones. Another group thinks that cell phones are not a distraction and hence the ban should be specific, i.e. so long as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie The differences and the similarities between the novel The Pelican Brief by John Grisham and the movie The Pelican Brief by Alan J. Pakula film. There were maybe similarities between the novel and the movie. The story line and plot were basically the same in both the novel and the movie. Then there were also many differences when the novel was made in to a movie. As in most cases when a novel is made in to a movie there are certain things that are left out in the movie version. The novel and the movie were both very suspenseful. The main characters are both the same in the book and in the movie but are a little bit different then their counter partners in the novel/movie. In both the movie and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the ground was somewhat important in the fact that it showed to state of anarchy our country is in, in this novel. The movie neglected to use that scene in to the movie version of The Pelican Brief. The burning down of the porno cinemas gave an example and showed how the Underground Military worked. This in a sense excluded them from the list of suspects do to there expert use of explosives. If they had indeed were the killers of the two Chief Justices they most likely would of stuck to there area of expertise, explosives. The main difference between the novel and the movie is that in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there involvement in the story is explained. The movie doesn t really introduce u as well as the novel does and this makes it harder to follow what is going on in the movie version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but it seemed that it was poorly don in The Pelican Brief movie version. I can understand why its easer for a novel to describe how and what they what you to know about a particular character. Now in a movie it s your own perception that you make of a character. The perception that the novel is usually better than the movie version in this case is true; I preferred reading the novel over watching the movie. The novel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of MSNBC And Fox News The last and final difficult conversation was a constructive and mind opening experience on the premise of watching and receiving news. During this conversation, my group watched 20 minutes of both MSNBC and Fox News and from there we collectively discussed it. Our first showing was watching Fox News and for me personally it felt like I was watching the tabloids or some might say a reality show. The reasoning behind my viewpoint of it was of them, the newscaster, talking for a like a good 10 minutes about donuts and their relationship between the struggle of the acting directors of Mike Mulvaney and Leandra English of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In addition, the newscasters are still reporting about President Trump s comment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only solution that I could think of voiding these differences is either through the elimination and recreation of new news channel or the moderation of current news channels. Yet, this will probably not happen because no news channel or person would be the one that blinks first; everyone, no matter their demographics or background always wants to be right in some way. The reflection period out of this conversation was for me shocking. As an engaged political person, I at least try to be engaged with the news. I find that CBS and New York Times are the most reliable news corporation out there with little to no bias at all, all facts. However, my colleagues find that the current mainstream news media are becoming either gossip, tabloid, or fake news channels. Respectively, I take offense to their beliefs on the basis that the news today is fake. Throughout history, it has been the news and investigative journalism that led to the many stories that transformed this nation into many shapes and forms. Without the news, a society will be at worst an anarchist society where nobody trusts each other or a tyrannical society where the populace will fall for anything that the state displays. It has been an American right of having open news sources, do Americans want to disregard this right in favor of being handed a silver platter of information from bias sources? Anyways, going back to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It shares borders with Guatemala and Honduras. El Salvador is divided into 14 departments and El Mozote is a village in one of the Departments called Morazan. According to the author, the Salvadoran Civil War 1979 1992 was a conflict waged by the Military led Government of El Salvadorand coalition of left leaning militias or guerillas called the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN).The FMLN was supported by peasants and indigenous Indian people. Also, the growing presence of the Soviets and Cuba in Nicaragua escalated the cold war and in order to draw the line the Reagan administration doubled economic aid for El Salvador to a hundred and forty four million dollars (pg 40). According to Danner, the priorities of American Policy in El Salvador had become unmistakable (pg 41).Second, The American government was opposed to dispatching American combat forces to Central America (pg 22) and in order to prevent another Nicaragua, Congress agreed to reform the Salvadoran Army by financing, training and arming its troops to fight the FMLN. As Danner notes, the Americans had stepped forward to fund the war, but were unwilling to fight it . Third, the Monterrosa led Atlacatl led batallion through American funding descended in El Mozote with the latest M 16 s, M 60 machines guns, 90 millimeter recoilless rifles, and 60 and 81 millimeter mortars (pg 39) and with a list of names massacred an entire village because communism was cancer (pg 49). The U.S. government was clearly responsible for the Massacre at El Mozote because without the funding, supporting, and training of El Salvador troops the war would have been tilted in the guerillas favor as they had managed to hold the disorganized army in certain areas. In contrast to neighboring departments El Mozote and its inhabitants of born again Christians did not fit in as guerilla sympathizers. In fact, the training at American hands ... There are however, other bouts of adversity that even children can relate to. One may have abusive or alcoholic parents, or even experience death at a young age. Surprisingly, good outcomes could possibly develop as a result of over 60 million people dead. For one, the creation of the United Nations occurred right after the war. This is critically important to the world today because now everyone is at peace. Another result of the war was women now started entering the work force, and many gender roles disappeared because women were forced to do men s work while their spouses were at war. Rapid transmission of information in the modern era and the ability of people to travel around the world on a larger scale has created awareness that the world and the modern society has a multitude of diverse and contrasting viewpoints on a variety of issues. This pluralism is evident in the realm of religionthan in any other realm. Human awareness of the existence of the many religions in the world, today, is unprecedented. First, the truth found in all non Christian religions is attributable to God because he is the source of every truth. The truth we know about God was universally known from the beginning. There is a high possibility that the remnants of this revelation of the truth about God have survived in the memory of different people around the world (Kalmin 133). It is also likely that some elements of the truth about God were inculcated into some cultures through their ancient contact with the chosen people of God, Israel, or with ancient Christians. For example, Prophet Mohammed of the Islam religion had early contact with representatives of Christianity and Judaism (Smith Christopher 34). Secondly it is important to recognize that where a twisted or false view on the truth occurs, it is a result of the sinful nature of man repressing the truth he knows about God. According to Romans 1:21, it is natural for human beings to repress the truth they know about, even if it is quite evident to them. They substitute this truth with explanations that are futile. Finally, Satan and his demon s role in influencing fake religious experiences and expressions cannot be underestimated. Psalms 106:36 37 states that people who worship idols sacrifice to the demons. The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is evident when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994. The system of apartheid spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the creation of a white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black states, which required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international condemnation did not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance. Detentions were set without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional organizations such as The African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian Peoples Organisation, The Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a result of the apartheid government due to political resistance. In 1960 South Africa s policies were subject to international scrutiny and the Sharpeville massacre resulted in international condemnation. However, tools called Indexes can be used to report on the past, present or future state of country. The usage for these Indexes is quite obvious: they can be used to benchmark the situation of a country compared to its peers, create historical trends in order to estimate if any improvements have been made throughout the years in multiple fields. Of course, they can also be used as political tools for the world leaders for internal purposes (linked to government policies) but also external policies as it can be a mean to determine the power that a country can have on the international level. The main Index that has been used for the past 80 years and is still used nowadays to measure the economic wealth is the Gross Domestic Product (or GDP). It is important to remember that the initial goal of these indexes (and particularly the GDP) is to measure and give a detailed report of the addition, subtraction and multiplication of certain numbers that compose a country s economy. Therefore, a measurement tool is not an end goal in itself. Nevertheless, this index became the reason for an international competition between countries to decide which one is the most able to bring this number to the maximum. This might not be an issue if the GDP was not mainly a measurement of the economic wealth of a country. During the years, new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music was smooth, it spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in a calm manner, they danced in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music took on a distinctive style, therefore, the dances and the clothing took on a different style. The clothing began to show body parts, the stomach was the main part that showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept your body covered. When the music changed, the kids changed. In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as well as, the disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. The setting not only acts as a representation, but also as an instigator as it constantly causes the wanderer anguish surges sorrow upon him and spurs his weary soul . Similarly, The Seafarer shows the ocean to be a force that further emphasizes and worsens a man s feelings of desolation and exile. Every definition found has defined family, in simple terms, as A father and a mother raising their children together. However, not every family is like that. Most families are not like that at all. Different aspects come into play in families such as divorce, death, and abandonment that can redefine the familystructure, either for the better or for the worse. A family does not have to consist of the traditional sense of the nuclear family, but rather a family can consist of friends, step siblings, step parents, half siblings, or family members outside the immediate circle of parents and brothers and sisters. With a favorable economy more children are being born hence family life revolves around having more children and having more fun. Consider the post World War II baby boom as an example of this. Also, healthy people tend to make more money than sick people. But what about the economy of single mothers? Most western countries find that single mothers are more likely to be poorer than a two parent household, especially if there are already two to three children. This correlates back to the health of the children. A study was done examining eight different countries and their social economic status and single mother homes, They find that although the relative economic status of single mother families in the United States is significantly below that in the European countries, it is not significantly lower than that in either Canada or Australia (Wong, Garfinkel, McLanahan). Although the Electoral College had never been implemented before, the Founding Fathers nevertheless built America with this election structure, to not only experiment with this new technique but to hopefully find a solution to an electionprocess that they expected would shortly involve millions of citizens. The Electoral Collegedoes include several beneficial advantages to the American election process, but for the most part, the Electoral College is a dysfunctional election method. The disproportionate distribution of electoral votes throughout the country demonstrates the Electoral College s ineffectiveness. Voters in smaller states have far more electors per capita than do voters in big states. For example, we look at states such as Wyoming. This state has a population of 584 thousand. It is the least populated state in America. Only 284 thousand of these citizens are registered to vote. Wyoming is allocated three electors for the Electoral College, for its two senators and one lonely house representative. This gives the state of Wyoming one elector for every 95 thousand voters: a miniscule amount compared to other states. Then we examine a state like Florida, one of the largest populated states. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones. The prisons in the United States have been overcrowded for many years and require a change in order to fix this. Some of the main causes for prisonovercrowding that will be covered in this paper are mass incarceration, long sentencing, recidivism, and prisoners of drug crimes. Overcrowding of prisons in the United States is a major issue that affects not only the prisoners themselves, but taxpayers and politicians. Although there are many different solutions to prison overcrowding such as building more prisons, alternative and shorter sentences, etc., the issue is still prevalent. Some feel the best way to deal with overcrowding is to build more prisons to accommodate the large influx of prisoners. Others feel the best mode of action to solve this problem is through shorter, and alternative sentencing, which frees up space for serious offenders of the law. This paper argues that shorter, and alternative prison sentences are the most effective way to reduce the prison population in the United States. Prisons and their overcrowding is a controversial topic not to be taken lightly. There are an incredible number of people in American prisons today. There was a time in our history that women were not valued for anything other than their sexual function, and they were expected to quietly tumble into the social image men created for them. Racism also was commonplace and widely accepted, and violence was a casual occurrence of life then. This time period is known as the Victorian Era. A very widely known children s book today was actually written during this time period by J.M. Barrie Peter Pan. This novel created for children contains the Victorian Era s socially accepted ideals relating to sexism, racism, and violence and the physical acts resulting from the prevalence of these ideas at that time, which are most certainly outdated and considered inappropriate for children in today s society despite the obviously uninformed popularity that remains with this tale. This book displays its sexism quite openly. There is an ongoing battle of two exceedingly different sides of womanhood throughout the story. It encourages the engagement between a mother like figure and a harlot. Throughout the novel, all the female characters must either be parental or crave the companionship of a male character, which often results in jealousy. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be discussed but with considerations of other authors. Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing. In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)). • 53. Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration. Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and established the MassachusettsBay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. While many Puritans considered predestination to mean that they had to live a pious life in the event that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aaron Copland died on December 2nd 1990 in North Tarrytown, New York at the age of ninety. Without question his most famous work is his Pulitzer Prize winning Appalachian Spring with which he received the prestigious award in 1945. Commissioned by American dancer and choreographer Martha Graham in 1943, Copland finished the work a year later while teaching at Harvard. The song had a traditional American sound much like his previous works, Quiet City and Billy the Kid and won immediate success with audiences when it debuted in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1944. The material of the piece is largely folk and even incorporates an old shaker song called Simple Gifts by Elder Joseph Brackett written in 1848. One song, a patriotic piece called A Lincoln Portrait was written at the beginning of World War II after Copland was commissioned to write a musical portrait of an eminent American political figure. He quoted original folk songs of the time such as the well known Camptown Races and also included material from letters and speeches Lincoln had given. When looking at the characteristics of his work, Copland could most likely be described as an experimentalist. He often enjoyed mixing various stylistic ideas of Jazz and Mexican dance rhythms into his music and did not shy away from including these styles into his film scores and ...
