Sample Essay On Career Goals
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Career Goals" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one
hand, it demands a deep introspection into one's aspirations, ambitions, and the path they
envision for their professional journey. On the other hand, it necessitates a meticulous
exploration of the chosen career, including the skills, qualifications, and experiences required to
achieve those goals.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between personal reflection and a
comprehensive understanding of the chosen field. One must articulate their aspirations with
clarity and conviction while demonstrating a practical understanding of the steps required to
attain those objectives. Identifying short-term and long-term goals adds another layer of
complexity, requiring foresight and strategic planning.
Moreover, the essay should showcase not only the individual's aspirations but also highlight their
unique qualities, experiences, and skills that make them well-suited for their chosen career path.
This involves weaving a narrative that seamlessly integrates personal and professional aspects,
making a compelling case for the feasibility and desirability of the outlined career goals.
The process involves considerable research, self-analysis, and the ability to communicate
effectively. Writers must carefully structure their essays to engage the reader from the
introduction to the conclusion, ensuring that each paragraph contributes meaningfully to the
overall narrative. Clarity, coherence, and conciseness become paramount to convey a compelling
and persuasive message.
In conclusion, composing an essay on career goals requires not only a clear vision of one's
professional aspirations but also the ability to articulate them eloquently. It is a task that demands
introspection, research, and effective communication skills. The process may be challenging, but
the reward lies in presenting a comprehensive and convincing account of one's career ambitions.

The Effects Of Gambling On The Brain
Gambling and the Effects on the Brain
Gambling is the act of risking an object of personal value, usually money, for the
chance of winning a greater reward. A gambling disorder, previously known as
pathological gambling, is when gambling begins to take over all aspects of life
affecting relationships, and work. The category that a gambling disorder should be
classified under in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,
Fifth edition (DSM 5) has been debated. Gambling disorder previously was
classified as an Impulse Control Disorder, but in the new edition, DSM 5, it is
classified as a Substance Related and Addictive Disorder (Clark, 2014). The reason
for debate on the topic was because of the characteristics of the disorder, ... Show

Of the people that use dopamine agonist medication for Parkinson s disease, 4.4%
reported that gambling became a problem for them after using the medication
(Grosset et al., 2006). Some of the respondents initially did not admit to having a
gambling problem, but later did admit to the problem, which indicates the results
possibly are underestimated at 4.4% (Grosset et al., 2006). At 4.4%, the statistic is
relatively high and should be explained to patients using a dopamine agonist as
their medication to try to decrease the chances of developing a gambling disorder.
The study noted patients who had a gambling disorder normally were on a higher
dosage of the dopamine agonist, but patients on lower doses also reported
developing gambling problems (Grosset et al., 2006).
Another disorder in which patients may use dopamine agonist medication is for
restless legs syndrome (RLS). RLS patients are also at a higher risk for developing a
gambling disorder (Stone, 2007). Three patients at the Mayo Clinic Sleep Disorders
Centers reported having a gambling disorder after approximately nine months of
using the medication. With increased amounts of medication, the gambling problem
got worse (Stone,
Atropa Belladonna or the Deadly Nightshade
Atropa Belladonna, or more commonly known as Deadly Nightshade , is a
medicinal plant that can be used both for the good and the bad of the people. Many
people think of this herbaceous plant to be very deadly, and people have a good
reason for it. The Atropa Belladonna holds the most incidents than any other plant per
year. This paper will give a background on this plant and much more information on
this specific medicinal herb. The history of Atropa Belladonnawas around before
humans first appeared on Earth. It is indigenous to most of Europe, Western Asia,
and North Africa. Though it is widely known and popular in Europe, it is not
common in countries such as England and Scotland. The plant is also becoming
rarer over the past few years. Deadly Nightshade is found in the shade of trees, in
wooded grasslands, and on top of limestone rock. These round, bushy plants grow to
be several feet in the air.
Deadly Nightshade received its official name from the late 16th century in Europe.
Other traces of how the name was created were from Greek Myths. The term
Atropa comes from the Greek figure Atropos, who is one of the three Fates who
handled the thread of life. At anytime Atropos could cut the thread and end one s
life. The term Belladonna comes from the Greek Goddess Bellona, who is the
Goddess of War.
The Atropa Belladonna plant is cultivated in England, France, and North America.
The cultivation process can very long and strenuous. This herb is a perennial plant,

EA Framework Research Paper
Introduction
An Enterprise Architecture Framework (EAF) provides principles and practices for
creating and using the architecture description of a system. Frameworks are used to
help organizations answer specific question. Enterprise Architecture framework
importance is de emphasized deliberately sometimes. Without a framework though, it
is impossible to have foreseeable and repeatable outcomes. There are many EA
frameworks out there. However, the four leading ones are The Zachman Framework

6. Why(Motivation) describes the end goals, constraints, rules and regulations.
Example of Zachman Framework:
Pros of Zachman Framework
The Zachman framework is the most popular framework in the area of EA. It is a
basis for some other frameworks such as, FEAF(Federal Enterprise Architecture
Framework). You can hardly find written material on any EA framework without a
reference to the Zachman framework. The framework is generic in that it can be
used to classify the descriptive representations of any physical object as well as
conceptual objects such as enterprises. It is also recursive in that it can be used to
analyze the architectural composition of itself. Although the framework will carry the
relation from one column to the other, it is still a fundamentally structural
representation of the enterprise and not a flow representation. Another of the
strengths of the Zachman Framework is that it explicitly shows a comprehensive set
of views that can be addressed by enterprise architecture.
Cons of Zachman Framework
Zachman Framework can lead to a documentation heavy approach. .Each of the 36
cells in the Framework handles a different question that has to be documented. It can
also lead to a process heavy approach to development . The Zachman Framework isn
t well accepted within the development community and few developers even seem to

The Current Time Period Of The World
In the current time period of the world we inhabit we are in a social media age.
Social media is websites that enable us to communicate with one another over the
internet. Some of these sites are twitter and Facebook. This like anything else
comes with pros and cons. An example of a pro would be it is easier for us to find
information with websites like google. A major con and what we will be
discussing today is a lack of personal communication with each other. It s quite the
contradiction that nowadays with social media it is easier to talk with people but
it s harder to have a real bond with them. We can meet people on sites like twitter
and Facebook or message boards but it isn t as intimate as having a face to face
conversation with another human being. This is making us a more lonely society.
In a survey people in 1985 had a mean size of 2.94 personal confidants in 2004 the
number was 2.08 (Marche 603). Also in 1985 10 percent of the American people
had no with whom to talk about important matters with and 15 percent said they
only had one good friend. By 2004 these numbers were up to 25 percent for nobody
to talk to and 20 percent for only one good friend (Marche 603). What these
numbers indicate is that the rise in technology has made us have less close
personal relationships. In 2004 social media wasn t as big as it is now so the
numbers for this might be even larger in 2015. These problems seem to be caused by
an overreliance on these websites and
Literary Devices In The Most Dangerous Game By
Richard...
In The Most Dangerous Game , author Richard Connell uses a variety of literary
device to depict the theme. He uses the main character, Rainsford, to be the
character which unfolds the theme as he goes through the experience of being
treated like a wild animal and becoming the prey of another human for sport.
Connell uses three literary devices frequently including foreshadowing, irony and
symbolism in order to support the main theme, put yourself in the shoes of the
animals you hunt. Foreshadowing was a commonly used literary device the the
author used in order to illustrate the point of view of Rainford, a character
oblivious of what was to come in his future and what he was going to experience
pertaining to emotional problems associated with hunting. Before Rainsford
aborted his ship and swam to the mysterious island, he wasn t sure of what laid
ahead besides remarks his shipmates made before portraying the nature of an island
close the area they were sailing in. (Connell pg 1) The place has a reputation, a bad
one. This shows that Rainsford is in dangerous waters, but he doesn t quite
understand why. He also questions the words of his shipmates with a cleverly placed
word. (Connell pg 1) Cannibals? A cannibal is when a member of a specific species
eats its own flesh. This is hinting toward the idea of murder in the form of hunting for
sport, one human harming another, without considering their victims emotions.
Another somewhat iry form of foreshadowing which the
Argumentative Essay On Peer Pressure
Come on, you know you want to do it! You are such a loser, just do it already! Are
you chicken? Many of us will agree that these are familiar statements that we have
either said or heard. Peer pressure is everywhere. Schools, jobs, sports, home, and life
in general. Most of the peer pressurewe face occurs in school when we are
surrounded by our friends or people we are trying to fit in with. These encounters
help shape us and can cause us to make difficult choices. It s through these choices
that we can either take a path of trouble and destruction or rise up and stand our
ground. Everyone has to deal with it at some point and it s how you deal with it
that turns peer pressure into either a negative or a positive. Even though there are
times when peer pressure is positive, the majority of the peer pressure facing kids
today is negative and can lead them to extremes such as gang behavior or even sex.
First is the type of negative peer pressure that leads to gang behavior. Gang
behavior can include anything from stealing and carjacking, to selling drugs.
Many times, kids that succumb to this type of peer pressure live in poverty or
come from single parent homes. In the article Peer Pressure Influences Gang
Behavior , the author Dale Greer explores the life of a young boy and the choices
he made that eventually landed him in jail. Greer discovers that through negative
peer pressure a thirteen year old boy goes from being a good student, to dropping
out of school and living a life of crime, until eventually being accused of murder
and sent to jail (1 3). These destructive events stemmed from other thirteen year
olds making fun of this young boy because of the clothes he wore and the
environment he was raised in. The choices he made from stealing, to taking drugs,
and eventually murder were all the boy s choices; however, the kids he was trying
to fit in with pressured him into making many of his decisions. Eventually the
young boy, after being sentenced to jail, makes the statement, Had I known what I
know now, I wouldn t have never joined The Posse. After all I ve done to prove my
loyalty to them, not one of the members who remain at large came to my aid (Greer

Target Corporation s Dealing with a Data Security Breach
In 2013, Target Corp., the company that prides itself on offering quality, upscale,
and trendy merchandise at lower costs, had anticipated a historic year. However,
after purchasing Canadian retailer Zellers 273 locations and finally executing plans
to expand outside the United States, both company and stockholder optimism
vanished. In late 2013, news of a massive data breach affecting nearly 110 million
consumers turned out devastatingly bad numbers in the fourth quarter some
experts even calling it the second largest retail cyber attack in history. As the
holiday season approached, analysts had expected Target s earnings to be flat
compared to the previous year, 2012, when the Minneapolis based retailer posted
fourth quarter earnings at $921 million. However, after news of the breach and its
ongoing investigation became public, many consumers, uncertain about the extent
of the breach, chose to shop with Target s competitors during the holidays. Target s
best public relations efforts could not completely ease consumer concerns. Sales in
the last week of the holiday season fell by nearly 4 percent, compared to other
retailers, which devastated the traditionally strong retailer as holiday sales account
for 20 to 40 percent of annual sales. Target ended the quarter with $520 million in
earnings, down almost 45 percent from 2012. Breaking News Popular tech security

achieve this strategy? * A competitive advantage is one that distinguishes a firm or a
business from the competitors in the minds of the customers. It also refers to the
state or condition that make a business more successful than the businesses it is
competing with, or a particular thing that makes it more successful such as having a

also have cross trained employees to conduct the operations within the entity, to

way to decrease the cost. Through the methods that they use to follow they are able
to achieve their low cost strategy that serves as their strength among their
competitors. 2. Does ALDI S low cost strategy imply that the company offers low
quality? Why is quality important, regardless of competitive strategy? * No. ALDI
S low cost strategy does not imply that the company offers low quality of product
but rather a high quality despite the use of low cost in producing the said product for

Food and Drug Administration, 2013, p.1). This media onslaught has yielded some
extraordinary results (Aitken amp; Holt, 2000, p. 83).
With all the positive and negative arguments regarding DTC, it could be argued that
it has had a primarily positive effect on society at large. First, many people who
would not have access to needed drugs now have the opportunity to obtain them.
Second, many people have been educated through the DTC pharmaceutical campaign.
Many physicians thought that DTC ads made their patients more involved in their
health care (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2013, p.1). There are many people
who would not know that there is medication out there to help them with their
ailment Drug makers are likely to find the consumer increasingly at the center of
their strategic thinking as they search harder and harder for blockbuster drugs
(Aitken amp; Holt, 2000, p. 83). DTC ads help patients have better discussions with
their physicians and provide greater awareness of treatments (U.S. Food and Drug
Administration, 2013, p.1). However, there are valid arguments against DTC in
regards to the pharmacy industry. It is this writer s opinion that DTC outweighs the
inherent risk and danger of DTC.
In general, compounding is a practice in which a licensed pharmacist, a licensed

A Successful Reintegration Of A Rehabilitated Offender
This essay will explore the factors that take a key play in a successful Reintegration
of a rehabilitated offender. To have a successful reentry the offender is offered thru
their Correctional Facility the following: Employment, Family Support, Financial
Stability, Involvement in substance abuse programs, and Stabilization of any mental
illness. Through discussion I will explain the pros and cons those rehabilitated face
when re entering society.
Reintegration is offered to those individuals who are offered Parole. As we all know
Parole is the conditional release of a person prior to the end of the maximum
sentence impose ( Parole | Define Parole at Dictionary.com, n.d.). The parole
system is used to reward well behaved inmates who shows signs of rehabilitation,
and for those who show signs that they can practice good behavior when socializing
and interacting out in society. To achieve parole status you can involve yourself in
programs offered by institution where you are serving out your time. Such programs
include obtaining a GED, being of trustee status which means you are an inmate that
shows capability of cleaning up after others; your peers. In order for Parolees to have
a successful integration On April 9, 2008, the Second Chance Act was signed into
law. The purpose of this act was to improve outcomes for people returning to
communities from prisons, jails, and juvenile s detention facilities. This federal

Criticism Of Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism is the theory where there is no objective truth in morality, and
moral truths are determined by different cultures. The primary argument used to
justify cultural relativism is the cultural differences argument, which claims different
cultures have different moral practices and beliefs, therefore, there is no objective
truth in morality(Newton). After reading James Rachels The Challenge of Cultural
Relativism, I find his criticisms to be persuasive because the argument made for
Cultural Relativism is not sound from a logical point of view. You cannot draw a
conclusion about what is factual based on what people believe is factual. Rachels
also points out that even though cultures do in fact disagree about moral values,...

In our country, someone who likes to be helpful is considered a model citizen,
whereas in his own country he would be considered abnormal (Benedict p.2).
Benedict used this example.to argue that like behavior, morality is culturally
determined and that what can be morally right for one society can be considered
morally wrong for another (Newton, Evaluating Cultural Relativism).
Where Ruth Benedict believed morality is relative, James Rachels disagrees. This is
where I would have to agree with James Rachels criticisms regarding the Cultural
Difference Argument. The premise argues that different cultures have different moral
codes. The conclusion argues that there is no objective truth in morality and right and
wrong are only matters of opinion, and opinions vary from culture to culture. Cultural
relativists argue from facts about different cultural outlooks to the conclusion about
the status of morality. Rachels uses the shape of the earth as an example. In some
societies, people believe the Earth is flat. In others, people believe it is spherical. If
using the Cultural Difference Argument, our premise would be that societies disagree
about the shape of the earth. We would then conclude there is no fact of the matter
about the shape of the earth (Rachels p.20 21).
This is not a logical argument because belief does not instantly imply truth. The
premise of an argument is
The Read-Aloud Textbook
Anderson, what s the DOW stock valued at today? inquires a wealthy businessman,
with a hint of concern. In the world of wealth management, this is not an uncommon
question, considering that stock holders obsess about their return on investment.
Similarly, in the world of academia and educational research, authorities obsess
about effective instruction and frequently ask, what is the current value of literacy?
Educator Jim Trelease uses his book to answer this (The Read Aloud Handbook,

Whether the task is understanding mathematical word problems, analyzing research
articles in science, or summarizing instructions from a shop class manual, it is self
evident that learning cannot occur independently of reading. Furthermore, Trelease
cites the 1983 Department of Education report, which reads, The single most
important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in
reading is reading aloud to children, (Trelease, The Read Aloud Handbook, 2013, p.
1). From an evidentiary standpoint, this report draws credibility from a compilation
of twenty five years worth of research projects and is given its authority because of
its connection to the Board of Education. On the same token, Trelease introduces
findings from another report, this time from doctors Hart and Risely at the
University of Kansas. In short, their findings strongly correlated the volume of words
heard at home to student success at school (Trelease, The Read Aloud Handbook,
2013, p. 2). When the students heard fewer words at home, students were less
successful; inversely, when students heard more words at home, students were more
successful. In conclusion, Trelease s ultimate supposition rests on these conclusions:
literacy is extremely valuable in general education, while reading aloud is crucial to

Watership Down Quotes
In the downs of a small farm, two rabbits are preparing to flee their warren in order
to escape men come to kill them. Richard Adam s Watership Down follows these
two rabbits Hazel and Fiver as they gather a following and make their way across
the farmland to safety. The band of misfits looks to Hazel for guidance, and he
leads them to their haven: a warren atop the hills where the rabbits are safe and
sound. However, the need to keep the warren going pushes the rabbits to continue
exploring and find does in other warrens. While looking, they meet the Efrafa
warren. This warren is lead by General Woundwort, and immediately the two
parties are at odds with one another. The most noticeable difference is between the
leaders of the two warrens: Hazel and General Woundwort. Both Hazel and
General Woundwort are cunning; however, the leaders use their wits in different
ways. Hazel uses his wit for the betterment of his people, while General Woundwort
uses his to control and oppress his people. Some leaders are born into their
position, others rise to the occasion, and a small few seize the position themselves
the latter of the three describe both Hazel and General Woundwort. Their
motivation is what separates them. Hazel takes charge of his warren to protect
them, while General Woundwort climbs up the ladder of power using any means
available. In the beginning, Hazel s warren did not have a leader. It was merely a
band of misfit rabbits trying to leave their warren. Hazel proves himself a leader
when the Owsla, or rabbitpolice, come to arrest the rabbits that try to leave. After a
fight breaks out, Hazel steps forward to protect his brothers, Go, said Hazel, firmly
and quietly, Or we ll kill you (21). Hazel believes that if there is no way to get his
people out safely, then they will have to go out fighting. The instinct to protect and
fight for his people is how Hazel becomes the leader of his warren. His brave actions
make him becomes the Chief Rabbit of his warren. Hazel did not seek leadership, he
simply led. In contrast to this natural leadership, General Woundwort is more power
hungry and ruthless. He is the tyrant of his warren Efrafa. The narrator tells the story
of General Woundwort and how his
Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

Researchers have found numerous ways to curb the symptoms of this disorder
without the harsh medications. The alternative ways are changing the child s diet,
you can give your child supplements like fish oil, increased physical activity, brain
training therapies, and better parenting skills. Most family doctors will not suggest
these things to parents because most parents are looking for a quick fix and doctors
do not make any money from not prescribing medication. A child with ADHD
requires more attention and most parents are too busy to give it to them, so they look
for the quick fix, but doctors are not going over the alternative treatments or the
dangerous side effects from the medication, they just listen to the parent for 5 10
minutes, ask the child a few questions, do a quick physical, and give medicine. The
doctor usually never goes over the length side effects, the harm the medication does
to the child over a long period of time, or the alternative treatments that can help. I m

it is the doctor s responsibility to give them the information before prescribing it to

Social Class In The Great Gatsby
In this movie it is very revealing that the characters feel as if they are totally limited
by the amount of money that they are worth, so their perspective on being successful

story that this movie carries along with it portrays what can happen when social class
and money come into act. The movies setting takes place approximately around the
early 1900 s. During this time frame, people were focusing on trying to live the

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays the global market is quite attractive for high competition environment. In
order to be visible in global market, brands can be used to play an important role.
From marketing point of view, brands are the means that consumers use to distinguish
products and services based on essential and non essential attributes and they are a
source of business s differential advantage.
When the company exports a product label, it has the choice between using: specific
brands in each market (local brands), or a single brand for all its foreign markets

They also provide opportunities for economies of scale in advertising, distribution,
and product design. Geoffrey Randall argues that what the marketing people must do
is ensure that cost savings (in whatever area), do not damage the brand.
This reduction of costs is conversely related to the fact that the firm will no longer
have to spend much of their time in launching their products or services. The reason
behind this is the fact that the global name of the company had already established its
name in the market.
For example, the agency of communication, Mc Erickson has saved $ 90 million in
production costs to Coca Cola in the past 20 years thanks to the realization of world
movie.
* It gives a global image of products and this image appears as a coherent image.
The brand is the main vector of the company, its products and its services markets. In
short, it acts as a summary of information, quality
The Gulag
One day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich by Alex Solzhenitsyn, published in 1962
describes the Gulag as a prison used by the Soviet government under Stalin to
dehumanize it s prisoners. Despite being in the Gulag, Alexander Solzhenitsyn
manages to survive these experiences and describes them through the use of Ivan
and his fellow protagonists. Solzhenitsyn explores this topic by employing vivid
imagery while appealing to the Russian people with his symbolism and allegories.
The combination of themes and motifs communicate to the Russian people how a
few prisoners managed to survive in such a prisonthat was meant to take away their
humanity and transform them into mindless slaves.
The author used the theme of the struggle for human dignity, as the Gulag was
designed to attack not only the character s physical and spiritual dignity. Officials
called prisoners by numbers, for example, guards called ... Show more content on

Solzhenitsyn uses this text for it to serve as an allegory, as a waking call to the
Russian people, he uses it as a way to get through what happens in the Gulag
through the use of third person, a combination of visual imagery, motifs,
symbolism, metaphors to develop the themes of faith, struggle for human dignity,
and the techniques used by the Gulag to dehumanize its prisoners. He also uses
them to develop the characters, as each character is a symbol of people he met in
real life while he was in the Gulag, thus this shows us that Solzhenitsyn uses the

Case Study Of Zara s Differentiation Strategy
Differentiation strategy In differentiation strategies, the emphasis is on creating value
through sustainable uniqueness. This can be achieved through product innovations,
superior quality, or superior service, which is then sustained and leveraged through
creative advertising; brand building and strong supply chain relationships. Another
requirement for a successful differentiation strategy is that customers must be
willing to pay more for the uniqueness of a product or service than the firm paid to
create it. A differentiation strategy will lead to higher firm performance only if
buyers value the attributes that make a product or service unique enough to pay a
higher price for it or if they choose to buy from that firm preferentially. If... Show

(Plantes, Finfrock, 2009) Zara s product differentiation strategy is based on high
quality and low prices. The company wants to be fashionable and desire for
everyone. This is the reason of their strategy (low price and high quality). In
society is such opinion about prices, if the product price is low, it means that the
quality is low. People think that everything with high prices has high quality, but it
is not true. In this case Zara did not want to be seen as a low quality brand. Hence
they create products of high quality. They wanted to be first between fashion
brands and add new designs to their collections twice a week. For customers is not
good to look the same designs two week, the company knows about customers needs
and they remove the products that do not sell well and changes the stores
organization twice a week. Products can be different by their functional aspects, by
the price and the quality. Zara differentiates by these elements. The main point of the
differentiation strategy for Zara is combination of the low price and high quality and
if other companies want to be desirable, they must do the same. Zara tries to decrease
the product in the inventory and increase the number of variable
Saddle A Horse Saddle Analysis
Saddling a horse is not as easy as beginners think. The rider needs to have a saddle,
blanket, girth, and a pair of long or short rains to guide the horse. Knowing how to
saddle a horse
correctly is extremely important because if the horse is not saddled correctly the
rider can get
seriously hurt. The items listed above are the main five tack you need.
The three main things the rider has to have to saddle the horse is the blanket, a saddle,
and the girth. The rider should groom the horse well before saddling. Setting out the
tack will
make saddling the horse a lot easier and faster. To be able to steer your horse you will
need a
bridle and a set of rains that attach to the bridle.

The Neurological and Behavioral Changes Associated with Learning Music as a Child
Some would argue that humans are intrinsically wired to produce music. As an
infant, the sounds children make while learning language mimic the tonal shape of
language. Parents also tend to use exaggerated highs and lows in their voices much
like a simple melody to prepare and help develop the infant s capacity to learn
language. It has also been found that the neural networks used in language acquisition
are very similar to those used in music acquisition (Mithen 2006). Language
acquisition and development is imperative for an individual to survive, and if training
the brain with music can strengthen those networks, this is a subject of great
importance. Since the 1940s doctors have recognized the impacts of music on the
behavior of patients with mental disabilities, and from this discovery, the effects of
music on a regular developing brain became a subject of great interest. Researchers
recognized that there was potentially an opportunity to increase brain development in
children resulting in discernable enhancements of skills into adulthood (Reschke
Hernandez, 2011). It is now known that childhood music education improves skills
required for playing music, namely motor functioning, auditory discrimination, and
long and short term recall. These skills, learned through music instruction, transfer to
non musical skills such as verbal
Family Dynamics And Social Values
Family Dynamics and Social Values in Race Religion as Factors of Domestic
Violence Much of the ethnic and religious ideologies existent in numerous
communities today are the result of history s shaping the societies into what they are
today, particularly during the earlier stages of the development of a religion or the
peak of an era. The principles and ideals formed then have gone through alterations
with time, as cultures have merged since their foundations. While some views and
philosophies have been virtually discarded, common beliefs pertaining to order,
power, and manner within a family have been preserved and passed down through
generations upon generations. Such morals often span to the extent of violence,
especially where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These viewpoints reinforce the attitude that violence is a husband s right and that the
woman is to blame. The findings of this study are related to studies in other Asian
countries that share similar traditional attitude towards women (Weingourt et al. 107).
The concept that women are merely a portion of a man s assets and should be
treated as though they are material goods provides the notion that a man has every
right to do with the women he owns as he wishes whether he treats them as queens,
as commoners, or as slaves is his and only his decision to make. In this context,
where women are treated like children does not radiate a positive opinion on
children, as they do not have proper power or control over their own lives. In other
words, women and children were both scene as dependent, and, while a son could
grow up to establish himself and become independent, a daughter would have to
remain depended throughout her entire life. Thus, we can presume that, if women
and children were considered the lower orders of the structure of a Japanese family,
then adult men were considered the head honchos. A study on family violence
towards married Cambodian women opens by introducing major determinants of
domestic violence against women (Yount and Carrera 355 360). The contributing
factors include the following: A Woman s Social and Economic
Is Abortion Relevant Today
People have different opinions in order to be different, but when do their opinions
start to affect their morals? Everyone has a different stance on abortion. Some
people are for it, and others are against it. In this research essay, I will be discussing
the topic of abortion. I strongly believe that abortionshould be illegal, because it goes
against the U.S. Constitution, it s considered a sin, and its murder. The reason
abortion is so relevant is because every day women decide to have an abortion, thus
killing an infant. People could look at abortion through various perspectives. The
one being discussed in this paragraph will be the legal way of saying why abortion
should be illegal. In simple words, abortion denies the infant a right... Show more

Analysis Of The Movie The Vietnam War By Kristen Ann...
When discussing the topic of America s involvement in the Vietnam War and the
toll it had on America as a whole, it can be rather controversial. Many people
wonder what the war was even about and some even bring up that the Vietnam War
could be considered another Civil War for America. An example of this is how
Marilyn Young argues in her article, The Vietnam
War in American Memory, how
many Americans treat Vietnam as something that happened amongst themselves. I
believe what Young meant by this was how throughout the many years Americans
fought in the Vietnam War, the America lost sight of who they were as well as
their purpose for being in the war in first place, which is supported by examples in
the film, PlatoonВё as well as in Kristen Ann Hass s Making A Memory of War. In
the film, Platoon, there were several examples which support Marilyn Young s
statement about American s treating Vietnam as something that happened amongst
themselves. The film is set during the 1960s and tells the story of a young college
student who goes by the name Chris Taylor. He drops out of college to enlist in the
Military to fight in the Vietnam War. In beginning, Taylor is very excited and
enthusiastic about his choice to fight in the war. Eventually, the enthusiasm changes
when he begins getting to know the squad he is assigned to as well as how they
him because he is new. One major event in the film which really changed how
Taylor felt about being a part of this war is when they raided
The Prentice Hall Self Assessment Library
The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss the results of my assessments
from the Prentice Hall Self Assessment Library. Three sections of this personality test
were completed: personality insights, working with others, and life in organizations.
The five factor model was used to help me understand my behavior. After completing
the personality assessments, it has been determined that I require improvement in
areas such that include interpersonal communication, and leadership skills. I have
determined how what I have learned from the personality tests about organizational
behavior can be applied in the workplace to make me a better employee, co worker,
or future manager. The significant part that the Holy Spirit plays in my life that will
help me develop the tools that I need to succeed was discussed. A biblical perspective
from the Old Testament on how God helped Moses can also be applied in developing
these skills. Introduction The Prentice Hall Self Assessment Library contains several
assessment tests that an individual may complete to determine his or her personality
type and provides insight regarding skills and abilities. The assessment tests were
extremely detailed. I completed three of the four sections which included personality
insights, working with others, and life in organizations. After completing the
assessments, I learned additional information about my personality type, strengths
and weaknesses, and areas that require improvement. I feel

Endo s Deep River opens up an unsettling encounter with the spiritual vision of India
described through the experience of five Japanese travelers from vastly different
backgrounds each of whom faces a troubling personal crisis. By exploring the depth
of the human need to understand ourselves and our purpose in life, Endo illuminates
his appreciation of the workings of grace from a God present in the sufferings of
humanity. Endo delves deep into the human condition through his characters that
reflect the complex individuals and personalities we are. Endo examines the moral
dilemmas facing each character and portrays a clear picture of the river and its deep

Endo s story creates a spiritual journey that moves us toward religious allegory but
achieves its strength through the turbulent waters of the Ganges. Even with the
droppings of animals, a odor of burning flesh, its color of milky tea, (Endo 107) and
the dust of surrounding villages, the river becomes a fruitful image to the reader.
Endo s descriptions of Indian customs from the Japanese viewpoint are evident,
through the Japanese travelers and also through the way he uses imagery to suggest
a merging of the ancient Japanese beliefs (Koshinto) with the Indian beliefs about
the Ganges and his own Christian beliefs. Koshinto lies at the core of Japanese
sensibility and forms Japanese traditional lifestyle (Mase Hasegawa 28). Each
traveler or character is searching for a greater understanding, not merely of the
motivating force behind their behavior, but of a deeper nature. In doing so, they all
find themselves in direct confrontation with their own personal desires for spiritual
rejuvenation. They embark upon journeys toward greater self understanding where
each is caught up in his own process of individuation. The river is a recurrent site
motif with ritual significance, providing an idyllic destination.
Endo gives the River Ganges different metaphorical significances which we
understand through the cases of the five tourists; it is a balm for haunting memories,
a remedy for loneliness, and a cure for feelings of emptiness and worthlessness.
What Is Solipsistic Little Godism In The Crimes Of
Gabriel...
In The Crime of Gabriel Gale by G. K. Chesterton, Chesterton demonstrates
solipsistic little godism through the young character Herbert Saunders, a seminary
student and new found solipsistic little godist. Solipsism is defined as the belief in
only two things: one s own existence and what they are presently imagining. A
solipsist does not believe that the outside world is actually there, he just believes
that he imagined it. Extreme solipsists may be referred to solipsistic little godists,
as they wholeheartedly believe that they created their own interpretation of the
world and are therefore in control of everything that happens. One may be a
solipsist without being a little godist, but being a solipsist is prerequisite for one to
be a little godist, as little godism is an extreme form of solipsism.... Show more

To interpret the premise that no one enjoys suffering, one must objectively define
suffering. Gale chose to pitchfork Saunders to the tree because he felt that it was a
situation Saunders would never place himself in by choice, as it was uncomfortable
and potentially life threatening, had a tornado ensued or if lightning struck the tree.
However, Gale could not possibly know with absolute certainty that Saunders would
never choose this for himself. Gale and Saunders were not close friends prior to this
event, and Gale could never possibly guess Saunders future desires or preferences. If
Saunders secretly enjoyed thunderstorms, or pitchforks, or being suspended from a
tree, this method of proving that Saunders is not a Little God would not work; rather,
it would only reinforce Saunders beliefs. Therefore, this treatment is contingent on
the belief that Saunders does not enjoy the situation Gale placed him in, which Gale
could not possibly know at the time. Ultimately, this treatment worked mostly due to
a lucky guess on Gale s part, not an objectively, absolutely true idea of
Franco-Prussian War Research Paper
Prussia s Instigation of the Franco Prussian War The Franco Prussian War was fought
between France and Prussia from 1870 into 1871. The circumstances leading into the
war were contentious with Prince Leopold receiving candidacy for the Spanish

between the two nations were minimal until July of 1870 when a series of events
prompted the war to commence on the 19th when France declared war on Prussia.
What or who provided this catalytic evolution of tensions between France and

Natives and Self-government Essay
Natives and Self government
From the moment of organized European appearances in North America, negotiation
has been a central characteristic of relationships between aboriginal residents and
newcomers. It is a characteristic that has been evident in treaty making throughout
Canada for more than three hundred years and it continues to be the order of the day
in modern treaties, claims and agreements being negotiated with First Nations, Inuit,
and MГ©tis across in Canada. 1
One of the central issues in the negotiations over the past three decades has been the
question of aboriginal self government, which has taken second place only to

Among academics, political leaders, and government representatives differences of
opinion and concern abound: differences about the most beneficial structure of self
government, about who controls what, about when self government should be
implemented, about whether or not a true form self government can ever be achieved.
Those who are critical of current forms of aboriginal self government view them as
little more than convenient arrangements that allow aboriginal people administrative
responsibility for services which are ultimately controlled by the federal or provincial
government.3 They argue that self government is essentially glorified municipal
government; arrangements which are far from the ideal of a third level of
government equal in legislative and financial authority to the federal and provincial
governments.4
Self government proposals also have their critics among the very people for whom it
is intended. For example, Inuit women have objected to many parts of the Nunavut
agreement mainly because of concerns about an emphasis on conventional southern
Canadian notions of resource management. They also had concerns and about an
emphasis on the economic, social and political roles and issues for men at the
expense of those of women in Nunavut (Inuit Women‰s Association, 1993). In
The Importance Of Government
Government is something that every country needs. Without government there would
complete anarchy. Anarchy doesn t work because citizens can t be completely free to
do whatever they want. One of the main reasons that government is a necessity is
because the government needs to set in stone, laws that the citizens must abide to.
We need rules and laws in a country, because without them people would be free to
use and take advantage of each other. We also need the government, because we need
to be able to communicate and organize sessions with other countries in order to
resolve conflicts, or talk economics/trading. We the people have always had some
form of government leading us in the United States, and without one we wouldn t
know how to handle situations. It s important for a country to have decently strict
immigration laws. Accepting a bunch of foreigners into the country can actually be
risky due to not knowing their previous way of life or beliefs. The Government must
provide several required services to the people. The Government must provide a well
trained police force system to protect everyday citizens from crime. Related to that
subject the government must provide a good court, and jail system to handle possible
convicts. Every country also should have a good education system. The future of
each and every country depends on the younger generation. Another service that the
government must provide is a fire department. Without fire departments many people
could lose

Summary Of Bring Back Flogging By Jeff Jacoby
In Bring Back Flogging , the author, Jeff Jacoby suggests that people should adopt
some of the Puritans tactics to punish criminals instead of putting them in prison. In
order to present his claim, Jacoby is based in the use of irony, logos, and ethos.
According to Jeff Jacoby a moment of humiliation is better than a couple of years
behind the bars. I do not agree with Jeff Jacoby s argument because the examples he
gives and the way he refers to the topic incite to violence, also during the development
of the subject he is too contradictory with his own opinions, and his arguments are
unclear. To begin with, at the start of his article, Jeff Jacoby mentions old
punishments, horrible punishments, pursued by Puritans, but at the same time... Show

However, Jeff Jacoby says something true, the criminal justice system has a problem,
but violence is not the solution. As a result, Jacoby made a great use of logos on
paragraph 6 where he points out the consequences of incarceration, ...the price of
keeping criminals in cages is appalling a common estimate is $30,000 per inmate per
year, also, he supports that statement on paragraph 12, The Globe reported in 1994
that more than two hundred thousand prison inmates are raped each year... he says,
on that same fact, Jacoby is using ethos suggesting that the information reported by
The Globe, the newspaper for which he works, is truthful. With these two
statements he almost got the reader, but again he contradicts himself saying that is
not the inmates fault, ...usually to the indifference of the guards, he adds. So, why
should prisoners be punished if it is not their fault? Furthermore, the use of irony
may confuse the reader making unclear Jacoby s position about the topic. For
example, on paragraph 3 he states, now we practice a more enlightened, more
humane way of disciplining wrongdoers: We lock them up in cages, personally, I
believe is better go to prison than be whipping on public. There are true stories of
people that went to school in prison and learn more than in the streets, in contrast, to
be punish teach us to punish the others. Also, on paragraph 4, Jeff Jacoby
Irrigation In Napa Valley
Napa Valley is a part of the hilly, steep mountains in the California Coast Range.
The soils in Napa Valley are generally very deep and are used for vineyards. Soils of
volcanic, and alluvial origin exist, each created by geological events that have
occurred over sixty million years. The valley was formed by tectonic plate movement
and volcanic activity. Due to volcanic activity, more than 100 soil types were created.
Grape farmers have an issue of choosing the type of irrigation which will decrease
the salinity of the soils but also provide enough water for their crops to thrive. How
much irrigation water required to grow quality wine grapes depends upon the site, the
stage of vine growth, row spacing, size of the vine s canopy, and amount of rainfall
occurring during the growing season. The structure and composition of the soil
greatly affect the character of the grapes and help guide the Napa Valley grape
growers as to which rootstocks and grape varieties to plant. ... Show more content on

One type of irrigation, drip irrigation, is a method which plants reach water supply.
Drip irrigation is the most widely used method of irrigation in Napa Valley. By
directly applying water to either the root zone or to the surrounding soil, this method
significantly reduces the amount of water used. In addition, growers are able to
control the exact amount of water applied to each vine, reduce evaporation, and
minimize surface runoff. Although the water goes around root system, it does not go
far and as a result, there is an accumulation of salts. Furthermore, most of the water in
California comes from mountains which has salt in them and once that area is
flushed, the farmer can also flush the soil. If flushing does not occur, then saline and

Essay On Breaking A Folkway
Folkways are customs or conventions of everyday life. There are no right or wrong
associated with folkways, it s just the way people do things. In this assignment, I had
to break a folkway and support a folkway. The goals of this essay is to describe when
I broke a folkway by going barefoot in public and when I supported a folkway by
giving people a proper handshakein public. I will be reflecting on my experience. In
this essay, it was hard trying to find an interesting folkway to break. I contemplated
on maybe taking my siblings to the grocery store while screaming. But, that quickly
went away when I started searching for examples of breaking a folkway online.
During my search, I came across a list of folkways to break. There was one... Show

the better. His name is Neville Brody, he is experiencing tremendous difficulty
developing new ideas but is acutely aware that he has the skills and creativity that
can make a difference.
Pounding, deafening and never ending. Three words that accurately describe the
frustration that Neville had been forced to endure for the past two and a half hours.
He has been waiting at the airport for his flight to California which has been delayed
twice. As the founder and designer of his own design firm, he feels that it is extremely
important to get there quickly in order to attend an important conference involving
his shareholders. Finally after another thirty minutes of waiting, passengers get the all

The bawling ricocheted off the plane s curved bulkheads, underscored by a

Lego Of The Lego Group
Background
The Lego group was established in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund,
Denmark. Lego today is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. However,
that does not mean that they haven t had to make some changes along the way to
reach and stay at that position. Lego needed to change because of increased
expansion of their product line which lead Lego to the brink of going bankrupt. In the
year 2000, the Lego group had a huge sales growth. By 2004, they were projected to
lose somewhere around two billion dollars. This lead to talks about bankruptcy,
breakup of the company, or even the sale of the company. Regardless of the talks, it
was quite obviously that something had to be done before any of that talk became a
reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kids were starting to lose interest in toys earlier than normal and became more
interested in electronic multimedia. The second change was that retailers who sold
Lego products were changing to become super stores like most are today. This lead
to manufacturers needing to now also compete for shelf space as well as
customers. The third change in the toy industry was that manufacturing was being
outsourced to Asia. The cheaper labor costs in Asia lead to companies pricing their
products lower. This and the US dollars worth going down hurt the Lego group
because there were more cheaply available products in the market. The last change
in toy industry was basically an exact copy of the Lego bricks that were being sold
cheaper than Lego s. These new competitors were able to produce a cheaper product
and bring new products to the market faster that Lego could. This became more
trouble when the court failed to give them trademark protection on the bricks.
Overall, these were the major occurring to the toy industry that lead to a needed
change by the Lego group.
Change Initiatives
As discussed in the background, the Lego company needed to make some changes to
avoid bankruptcy and the breakup of the company. To make these changes the Lego
group hired Jorgen Vig Knudstorp as their new CEO in 2004. These changes were
broken down into three phases that would eventually bring the company out of
potential bankruptcy. The three
Female Stereotypes In The Media Essay
Female Stereotypes In The Media
In the media the most common female stereotypes, are the housewife and the blonde
bimbo.
The Housewife. Chained to the kitchen sink, always cleaning and cooking. An old
stereotype.
In the advertisement for Shake `n Vac a woman is doing the vacuuming and dancing
around shaking Shake `n Vac on the floor. This is a stereotypefor the reason that a

it s always a man.
At first, when I saw the advertisement for Mc Cain s chips, I thought the woman in it
wasn t stereotypical, as she was not cooking the meal, the man was. But after a while
I saw that this was just for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, I saw an advertisement in which a woman was showing some people
round her house. She shows them the rooms and then she says, ГґAnd here s my
garage,Г¶ and you see this room with white ceilings, white wallpaper, cupboards and
lights and a car. This was meant to be humorous showing that this woman went to the
extreme of even tiding up her garage.
The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able
to use machines, dependant on her man, not able to do anything, can t control her
emotions over men.
When I watched the TV to find some examples of stereotypes, the first thing I saw
was a trailer for a documentary about David Bailey. Included were lots of female
models. They were all skinny, they had really thick make up on and lots of them
were blonde. The dialogue included ôThe photographer slept with 300 womenö
and one of his models saying, ГґYeah I ll get my tits out for him.Г¶ The trailer was
representing all of the models as sluts.
Changing the channel to Challenge TV some more stereotypes of women
appeared. The females on the show were the presenter of the game show, Donna
Air, who had long curly blonde hair, and a shirt with half the buttons not done up
showing off her bra, and a contestant who also had blonde hair, had big boobs, and
was wearing a low cut top and was referred to by the other host as ГґSexy ZoГ™!Г¶

Andrew Carnegie Essay
The richest man in the world, in his time, was Andrew Carnegie. His story of
success was truly one of rags to riches. After coming to the U.S. from Scotland as
part of a working class family, he moved from job to job, eventually becoming
more influential and gaining a large sum of money. Soon he was using his wealth
to contribute to many public services, such as libraries and schools. Andrew
Carnegie s life and actions have left a long standing legacy and have contributed
greatly to the American way of life, particularly toward education. Andrew Carnegie
was born on November 25th, 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland. His father was a hand
loom weaver and Chartist. Carnegie believed in the importance of birthplace. I was
supremely so in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not long before Andrew had built his own blast furnace, inspired by
Bessemer and his ideas. This was in 1870, and in Braddock in 1874, he had open
his steel furnace. Henry Frick was one of his many partners, although he always
wanted to stay in control of his ventures. Carnegie was also interested in political
and social issues, writing a few books including Round the World in 1881, An
American Four in Hand in Britain in 1883, and Triumphant Democracy in 1886.
He was also a big fan of the educational system in the United States. In June of 1889,
an article was published in the North American Review by Andrew about what he
referred to as the Gospel of Wealth . In it, he stated that rich people have a duty to
use their wealth towards benefiting the community. In his words, A man who dies
rich dies disgraced.2 In the same year, he made Henry Frick chairman of the
Carnegie Company and then moved to New York to do some research. He also
spent six months with his family in Scotland. In 1892, Frick realized there was no
centralized management for the company and decided to combine everything to
form the Carnegie Steel Company. It was worth $25 million and was the largest
steel company in the world. Frick became greedy and wanted to increase profits, so
he lowered employee wages. Workers began to strike, so Frick hired 300
strikebreakers to resolve the situation. There was a battle that lasted a day and 60
men were wounded.
Glass Ceiling
Gender and Bias in the Workplace
1 Is there still a glass ceiling for women in the workplace? Is there one for men?
What progress has or can be made to break through it for all employees? What
about glass walls? The glass cliff? Are these real roadblocks for men and women in
certain careers or is there more to them than gender? A glass ceilingis defined as a
barrier that prevents a particular gender from rising reaching a particular
hierarchical level in a workplace. Today the glass ceiling is still very intact
especially in the case of women. Despite the fact that women and the feminist have
been fighting for their rights in the society for so long which they have been
gaining in the recent few years, it can be true to say that the glass ceiling for the
women still exists for particular reasons (Cocco, 2008). The reasons include the fact
that men still hold the top workplace positions and inequalities in the paternity as
well as the maternity leaves. Furthermore, the stereotype against women is not 100%
gone. For the men, the glass ceiling does not exist. These can be brought down by
the adoption of the zero tolerance policies for activities such as discrimination. Glass
walls are blocks that prevent individuals from interrelating downwards in a
workplace. This mainly exists in activities such as coaching (Shields, 2016). This ...

People mainly seem to underestimate the impact that sexual harassment has on men.
The difference between sexual harassment in men and women is in the level or the
stage at which it causes distress. For women, it becomes a distress when it causes
fright and not bother but for men, it becomes distressing when it causes fright and
bother. To prevent this kind of harassment, management of an organization needs to
have good monitor resources in the workplace and ensure that complaints are taken

  • 1. Sample Essay On Career Goals Crafting an essay on the topic of "Career Goals" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, it demands a deep introspection into one's aspirations, ambitions, and the path they envision for their professional journey. On the other hand, it necessitates a meticulous exploration of the chosen career, including the skills, qualifications, and experiences required to achieve those goals. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between personal reflection and a comprehensive understanding of the chosen field. One must articulate their aspirations with clarity and conviction while demonstrating a practical understanding of the steps required to attain those objectives. Identifying short-term and long-term goals adds another layer of complexity, requiring foresight and strategic planning. Moreover, the essay should showcase not only the individual's aspirations but also highlight their unique qualities, experiences, and skills that make them well-suited for their chosen career path. This involves weaving a narrative that seamlessly integrates personal and professional aspects, making a compelling case for the feasibility and desirability of the outlined career goals. The process involves considerable research, self-analysis, and the ability to communicate effectively. Writers must carefully structure their essays to engage the reader from the introduction to the conclusion, ensuring that each paragraph contributes meaningfully to the overall narrative. Clarity, coherence, and conciseness become paramount to convey a compelling and persuasive message. In conclusion, composing an essay on career goals requires not only a clear vision of one's professional aspirations but also the ability to articulate them eloquently. The Effects Of Gambling On The Brain Gambling and the Effects on the Brain Gambling is the act of risking an object of personal value, usually money, for the chance of winning a greater reward. A gambling disorder, previously known as pathological gambling, is when gambling begins to take over all aspects of life affecting relationships, and work. The category that a gambling disorder should be classified under in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth edition (DSM 5) has been debated. Gambling disorder previously was classified as an Impulse Control Disorder, but in the new edition, DSM 5, it is classified as a Substance Related and Addictive Disorder (Clark, 2014). Of the people that use dopamine agonist medication for Parkinson s disease, 4.4% reported that gambling became a problem for them after using the medication (Grosset et al., 2006). Some of the respondents initially did not admit to having a gambling problem, but later did admit to the problem, which indicates the results possibly are underestimated at 4.4% (Grosset et al., 2006). At 4.4%, the statistic is relatively high and should be explained to patients using a dopamine agonist as their medication to try to decrease the chances of developing a gambling disorder. The study noted patients who had a gambling disorder normally were on a higher dosage of the dopamine agonist, but patients on lower doses also reported developing gambling problems (Grosset et al., 2006). Another disorder in which patients may use dopamine agonist medication is for restless legs syndrome (RLS). RLS patients are also at a higher risk for developing a gambling disorder (Stone, 2007). Three patients at the Mayo Clinic Sleep Disorders Centers reported having a gambling disorder after approximately nine months of using the medication. With increased amounts of medication, the gambling problem got worse (Stone,

It is a basis for some other frameworks such as, FEAF(Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework). You can hardly find written material on any EA framework without a reference to the Zachman framework. The framework is generic in that it can be used to classify the descriptive representations of any physical object as well as conceptual objects such as enterprises. It is also recursive in that it can be used to analyze the architectural composition of itself. Although the framework will carry the relation from one column to the other, it is still a fundamentally structural representation of the enterprise and not a flow representation. Another of the strengths of the Zachman Framework is that it explicitly shows a comprehensive set of views that can be addressed by enterprise architecture. Cons of Zachman Framework Zachman Framework can lead to a documentation heavy approach. .Each of the 36 cells in the Framework handles a different question that has to be documented. It can also lead to a process heavy approach to development . The Zachman Framework isn t well accepted within the development community and few developers even seem to have

Social media is websites that enable us to communicate with one another over the internet. Some of these sites are twitter and Facebook. This like anything else comes with pros and cons. An example of a pro would be it is easier for us to find information with websites like google. A major con and what we will be discussing today is a lack of personal communication with each other. It s quite the contradiction that nowadays with social media it is easier to talk with people but it s harder to have a real bond with them. We can meet people on sites like twitter and Facebook or message boards but it isn t as intimate as having a face to face conversation with another human being. This is making us a more lonely society. In a survey people in 1985 had a mean size of 2.94 personal confidants in 2004 the number was 2.08 (Marche 603). Also in 1985 10 percent of the American people had no with whom to talk about important matters with and 15 percent said they only had one good friend. By 2004 these numbers were up to 25 percent for nobody to talk to and 20 percent for only one good friend (Marche 603). What these numbers indicate is that the rise in technology has made us have less close personal relationships. In 2004 social media wasn t as big as it is now so the numbers for this might be even larger in 2015. These problems seem to be caused by an overreliance on these websites and

He uses the main character, Rainsford, to be the character which unfolds the theme as he goes through the experience of being treated like a wild animal and becoming the prey of another human for sport. Connell uses three literary devices frequently including foreshadowing, irony and symbolism in order to support the main theme, put yourself in the shoes of the animals you hunt. Foreshadowing was a commonly used literary device the the author used in order to illustrate the point of view of Rainford, a character oblivious of what was to come in his future and what he was going to experience pertaining to emotional problems associated with hunting. Before Rainsford aborted his ship and swam to the mysterious island, he wasn t sure of what laid ahead besides remarks his shipmates made before portraying the nature of an island close the area they were sailing in. • 8. Argumentative Essay On Peer Pressure Come on, you know you want to do it! You are such a loser, just do it already! Are you chicken? Many of us will agree that these are familiar statements that we have either said or heard. Peer pressure is everywhere. Schools, jobs, sports, home, and life in general. Most of the peer pressurewe face occurs in school when we are surrounded by our friends or people we are trying to fit in with. These encounters help shape us and can cause us to make difficult choices. It s through these choices that we can either take a path of trouble and destruction or rise up and stand our ground. Everyone has to deal with it at some point and it s how you deal with it that turns peer pressure into either a negative or a positive. Even though there are times when peer pressure is positive, the majority of the peer pressure facing kids today is negative and can lead them to extremes such as gang behavior or even sex. First is the type of negative peer pressure that leads to gang behavior. Gang behavior can include anything from stealing and carjacking, to selling drugs. Many times, kids that succumb to this type of peer pressure live in poverty or come from single parent homes. In the article Peer Pressure Influences Gang Behavior , the author Dale Greer explores the life of a young boy and the choices he made that eventually landed him in jail. Greer discovers that through negative peer pressure a thirteen year old boy goes from being a good student, to dropping out of school and living a life of crime, until eventually being accused of murder and sent to jail (1 3). These destructive events stemmed from other thirteen year olds making fun of this young boy because of the clothes he wore and the environment he was raised in. The choices he made from stealing, to taking drugs, and eventually murder were all the boy s choices; however, the kids he was trying to fit in with pressured him into making many of his decisions. Eventually the young boy, after being sentenced to jail, makes the statement, Had I known what I know now, I wouldn t have never joined The Posse. After all I ve done to prove my loyalty to them, not one of the members who remain at large came to my aid (Greer 3). This realization unfortunately

In late 2013, news of a massive data breach affecting nearly 110 million consumers turned out devastatingly bad numbers in the fourth quarter some experts even calling it the second largest retail cyber attack in history. As the holiday season approached, analysts had expected Target s earnings to be flat compared to the previous year, 2012, when the Minneapolis based retailer posted fourth quarter earnings at $921 million. However, after news of the breach and its ongoing investigation became public, many consumers, uncertain about the extent of the breach, chose to shop with Target s competitors during the holidays. Target s best public relations efforts could not completely ease consumer concerns. Sales in the last week of the holiday season fell by nearly 4 percent, compared to other retailers, which devastated the traditionally strong retailer as holiday sales account for 20 to 40 percent of annual sales. Target ended the quarter with $520 million in earnings, down almost 45 percent from 2012. With all the positive and negative arguments regarding DTC, it could be argued that it has had a primarily positive effect on society at large. First, many people who would not have access to needed drugs now have the opportunity to obtain them. Second, many people have been educated through the DTC pharmaceutical campaign. Many physicians thought that DTC ads made their patients more involved in their health care (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2013, p.1). • 13. Criticism Of Cultural Relativism Cultural relativism is the theory where there is no objective truth in morality, and moral truths are determined by different cultures. The primary argument used to justify cultural relativism is the cultural differences argument, which claims different cultures have different moral practices and beliefs, therefore, there is no objective truth in morality(Newton). After reading James Rachels The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, I find his criticisms to be persuasive because the argument made for Cultural Relativism is not sound from a logical point of view. You cannot draw a conclusion about what is factual based on what people believe is factual. Rachels also points out that even though cultures do in fact disagree about moral values,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our country, someone who likes to be helpful is considered a model citizen, whereas in his own country he would be considered abnormal (Benedict p.2). Benedict used this example.to argue that like behavior, morality is culturally determined and that what can be morally right for one society can be considered morally wrong for another (Newton, Evaluating Cultural Relativism). Where Ruth Benedict believed morality is relative, James Rachels disagrees. This is where I would have to agree with James Rachels criticisms regarding the Cultural Difference Argument. The premise argues that different cultures have different moral codes. The conclusion argues that there is no objective truth in morality and right and wrong are only matters of opinion, and opinions vary from culture to culture. Cultural relativists argue from facts about different cultural outlooks to the conclusion about the status of morality. Rachels uses the shape of the earth as an example. In some societies, people believe the Earth is flat. In others, people believe it is spherical. If using the Cultural Difference Argument, our premise would be that societies disagree about the shape of the earth. We would then conclude there is no fact of the matter about the shape of the earth (Rachels p.20 21). This is not a logical argument because belief does not instantly imply truth. The premise of an argument is

In the world of wealth management, this is not an uncommon question, considering that stock holders obsess about their return on investment. Similarly, in the world of academia and educational research, authorities obsess about effective instruction and frequently ask, what is the current value of literacy? Educator Jim Trelease uses his book to answer this (The Read Aloud Handbook, 2013). From an evidentiary standpoint, this report draws credibility from a compilation of twenty five years worth of research projects and is given its authority because of its connection to the Board of Education. On the same token, Trelease introduces findings from another report, this time from doctors Hart and Risely at the University of Kansas. In short, their findings strongly correlated the volume of words heard at home to student success at school (Trelease, The Read Aloud Handbook, 2013, p. 2). When the students heard fewer words at home, students were less successful; inversely, when students heard more words at home, students were more successful. In conclusion, Trelease s ultimate supposition rests on these conclusions: literacy is extremely valuable in general education, while reading aloud is crucial to developing

It can pass the costs of R amp; D and production costs over a larger volume of production and thereby reduce the unit cost total. The global scale permits huge economies as the benefits of scale taken from the experience in one market are developed in others. Geoffrey Randall argues that what the marketing people must do is ensure that cost savings (in whatever area), do not damage the brand. This reduction of costs is conversely related to the fact that the firm will no longer have to spend much of their time in launching their products or services. The reason behind this is the fact that the global name of the company had already established its name in the market. The Gulag One day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich by Alex Solzhenitsyn, published in 1962 describes the Gulag as a prison used by the Soviet government under Stalin to dehumanize it s prisoners. Despite being in the Gulag, Alexander Solzhenitsyn manages to survive these experiences and describes them through the use of Ivan and his fellow protagonists. Solzhenitsyn explores this topic by employing vivid imagery while appealing to the Russian people with his symbolism and allegories. The combination of themes and motifs communicate to the Russian people how a few prisoners managed to survive in such a prisonthat was meant to take away their humanity and transform them into mindless slaves. The author used the theme of the struggle for human dignity, as the Gulag was designed to attack not only the character s physical and spiritual dignity. This can be achieved through product innovations, superior quality, or superior service, which is then sustained and leveraged through creative advertising; brand building and strong supply chain relationships. Another requirement for a successful differentiation strategy is that customers must be willing to pay more for the uniqueness of a product or service than the firm paid to create it. A differentiation strategy will lead to higher firm performance only if buyers value the attributes that make a product or service unique enough to pay a higher price for it or if they choose to buy from that firm preferentially. The company wants to be fashionable and desire for everyone. This is the reason of their strategy (low price and high quality). In society is such opinion about prices, if the product price is low, it means that the quality is low. People think that everything with high prices has high quality, but it is not true. In this case Zara did not want to be seen as a low quality brand. Hence they create products of high quality. They wanted to be first between fashion brands and add new designs to their collections twice a week. For customers is not good to look the same designs two week, the company knows about customers needs and they remove the products that do not sell well and changes the stores organization twice a week. Products can be different by their functional aspects, by the price and the quality. Zara differentiates by these elements. • 23. The Neurological And Behavioral Changes Associated With... Sarah Walker Gordon Deecker INSC 3909 December 14, 2015 The Neurological and Behavioral Changes Associated with Learning Music as a Child Some would argue that humans are intrinsically wired to produce music. As an infant, the sounds children make while learning language mimic the tonal shape of language. Parents also tend to use exaggerated highs and lows in their voices much like a simple melody to prepare and help develop the infant s capacity to learn language. It has also been found that the neural networks used in language acquisition are very similar to those used in music acquisition (Mithen 2006). Language acquisition and development is imperative for an individual to survive, and if training the brain with music can strengthen those networks, this is a subject of great importance. Since the 1940s doctors have recognized the impacts of music on the behavior of patients with mental disabilities, and from this discovery, the effects of music on a regular developing brain became a subject of great interest. Researchers recognized that there was potentially an opportunity to increase brain development in children resulting in discernable enhancements of skills into adulthood (Reschke Hernandez, 2011). It is now known that childhood music education improves skills required for playing music, namely motor functioning, auditory discrimination, and long and short term recall. These skills, learned through music instruction, transfer to non musical skills such as verbal

Family Dynamics And Social Values Family Dynamics and Social Values in Race Religion as Factors of Domestic Violence Much of the ethnic and religious ideologies existent in numerous communities today are the result of history s shaping the societies into what they are today, particularly during the earlier stages of the development of a religion or the peak of an era. The principles and ideals formed then have gone through alterations with time, as cultures have merged since their foundations. These viewpoints reinforce the attitude that violence is a husband s right and that the woman is to blame. The findings of this study are related to studies in other Asian countries that share similar traditional attitude towards women (Weingourt et al. 107). The concept that women are merely a portion of a man s assets and should be treated as though they are material goods provides the notion that a man has every right to do with the women he owns as he wishes whether he treats them as queens, as commoners, or as slaves is his and only his decision to make. In this context, where women are treated like children does not radiate a positive opinion on children, as they do not have proper power or control over their own lives. In other words, women and children were both scene as dependent, and, while a son could grow up to establish himself and become independent, a daughter would have to remain depended throughout her entire life. Thus, we can presume that, if women and children were considered the lower orders of the structure of a Japanese family, then adult men were considered the head honchos. A study on family violence towards married Cambodian women opens by introducing major determinants of domestic violence against women (Yount and Carrera 355 360). When discussing the topic of America s involvement in the Vietnam War and the toll it had on America as a whole, it can be rather controversial. Many people wonder what the war was even about and some even bring up that the Vietnam War could be considered another Civil War for America. An example of this is how Marilyn Young argues in her article, The Vietnam War in American Memory, how many Americans treat Vietnam as something that happened amongst themselves. I believe what Young meant by this was how throughout the many years Americans fought in the Vietnam War, the America lost sight of who they were as well as their purpose for being in the war in first place, which is supported by examples in the film, PlatoonВё as well as in Kristen Ann Hass s Making A Memory of War. In the film, Platoon, there were several examples which support Marilyn Young s statement about American s treating Vietnam as something that happened amongst themselves. The film is set during the 1960s and tells the story of a young college student who goes by the name Chris Taylor. He drops out of college to enlist in the Military to fight in the Vietnam War. In beginning, Taylor is very excited and enthusiastic about his choice to fight in the war. Eventually, the enthusiasm changes when he begins getting to know the squad he is assigned to as well as how they him because he is new. Even with the droppings of animals, a odor of burning flesh, its color of milky tea, (Endo 107) and the dust of surrounding villages, the river becomes a fruitful image to the reader. Endo s descriptions of Indian customs from the Japanese viewpoint are evident, through the Japanese travelers and also through the way he uses imagery to suggest a merging of the ancient Japanese beliefs (Koshinto) with the Indian beliefs about the Ganges and his own Christian beliefs. Koshinto lies at the core of Japanese sensibility and forms Japanese traditional lifestyle (Mase Hasegawa 28). Each traveler or character is searching for a greater understanding, not merely of the motivating force behind their behavior, but of a deeper nature. In doing so, they all find themselves in direct confrontation with their own personal desires for spiritual rejuvenation. They embark upon journeys toward greater self understanding where each is caught up in his own process of individuation. The river is a recurrent site motif with ritual significance, providing an idyllic destination. Endo gives the River Ganges different metaphorical significances which we understand through the cases of the five tourists; it is a balm for haunting memories, a remedy for loneliness, and a cure for feelings of emptiness and worthlessness.

Chesterton, Chesterton demonstrates solipsistic little godism through the young character Herbert Saunders, a seminary student and new found solipsistic little godist. Solipsism is defined as the belief in only two things: one s own existence and what they are presently imagining. A solipsist does not believe that the outside world is actually there, he just believes that he imagined it. Extreme solipsists may be referred to solipsistic little godists, as they wholeheartedly believe that they created their own interpretation of the world and are therefore in control of everything that happens. One may be a solipsist without being a little godist, but being a solipsist is prerequisite for one to be a little godist, as little godism is an extreme form of solipsism.... However, Gale could not possibly know with absolute certainty that Saunders would never choose this for himself. Gale and Saunders were not close friends prior to this event, and Gale could never possibly guess Saunders future desires or preferences. If Saunders secretly enjoyed thunderstorms, or pitchforks, or being suspended from a tree, this method of proving that Saunders is not a Little God would not work; rather, it would only reinforce Saunders beliefs. Anarchy doesn t work because citizens can t be completely free to do whatever they want. One of the main reasons that government is a necessity is because the government needs to set in stone, laws that the citizens must abide to. We need rules and laws in a country, because without them people would be free to use and take advantage of each other. We also need the government, because we need to be able to communicate and organize sessions with other countries in order to resolve conflicts, or talk economics/trading. We the people have always had some form of government leading us in the United States, and without one we wouldn t know how to handle situations. It s important for a country to have decently strict immigration laws. Accepting a bunch of foreigners into the country can actually be risky due to not knowing their previous way of life or beliefs. The Government must provide several required services to the people. The Government must provide a well trained police force system to protect everyday citizens from crime. Related to that subject the government must provide a good court, and jail system to handle possible convicts. Every country also should have a good education system. The future of each and every country depends on the younger generation. Another service that the government must provide is a fire department. Without fire departments many people could lose

In order to present his claim, Jacoby is based in the use of irony, logos, and ethos. According to Jeff Jacoby a moment of humiliation is better than a couple of years behind the bars. I do not agree with Jeff Jacoby s argument because the examples he gives and the way he refers to the topic incite to violence, also during the development of the subject he is too contradictory with his own opinions, and his arguments are unclear. With these two statements he almost got the reader, but again he contradicts himself saying that is not the inmates fault, ...usually to the indifference of the guards, he adds. So, why should prisoners be punished if it is not their fault? Furthermore, the use of irony may confuse the reader making unclear Jacoby s position about the topic. This was in 1870, and in Braddock in 1874, he had open his steel furnace. Henry Frick was one of his many partners, although he always wanted to stay in control of his ventures. Carnegie was also interested in political and social issues, writing a few books including Round the World in 1881, An American Four in Hand in Britain in 1883, and Triumphant Democracy in 1886. He was also a big fan of the educational system in the United States. In it, he stated that rich people have a duty to use their wealth towards benefiting the community. In his words, A man who dies rich dies disgraced.2 In the same year, he made Henry Frick chairman of the Carnegie Company and then moved to New York to do some research. He also spent six months with his family in Scotland. In 1892, Frick realized there was no centralized management for the company and decided to combine everything to form the Carnegie Steel Company. It was worth $25 million and was the largest steel company in the world. Frick became greedy and wanted to increase profits, so he lowered employee wages. Workers began to strike, so Frick hired 300 strikebreakers to resolve the situation. There was a battle that lasted a day and 60 men were wounded.

Are these real roadblocks for men and women in certain careers or is there more to them than gender? A glass ceilingis defined as a barrier that prevents a particular gender from rising reaching a particular hierarchical level in a workplace. Today the glass ceiling is still very intact especially in the case of women. Despite the fact that women and the feminist have been fighting for their rights in the society for so long which they have been gaining in the recent few years, it can be true to say that the glass ceiling for the women still exists for particular reasons (Cocco, 2008). The reasons include the fact that men still hold the top workplace positions and inequalities in the paternity as well as the maternity leaves. Furthermore, the stereotype against women is not 100% gone. For the men, the glass ceiling does not exist. These can be brought down by the adoption of the zero tolerance policies for activities such as discrimination. For women, it becomes a distress when it causes fright and not bother but for men, it becomes distressing when it causes fright and bother. To prevent this kind of harassment, management of an organization needs to have good monitor resources in the workplace and ensure that complaints are taken

Typically, aerospace engineers work 40 hours a week, but sometimes they work extra hours to meet deadlines. Knowing that many others rely on technologies they create for survival, makes their job a little more stressful. Aerospace engineers spend a lot of time testing the durability and safety of the machines they have built, but most of the tests are done using computer simulations. Occasionally fieldwork is necessary in order to test prototypes or
