Salvation By Langston Hughes Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Salvation" by Langston Hughes can be a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty arises from the nuanced themes and emotions embedded in Hughes's
narrative, coupled with the need to convey the author's intentions accurately. Hughes's essay
delves into the internal struggle of a young boy faced with the expectations of his community
and the quest for personal salvation. Navigating through the layers of religious and societal
pressures requires a careful analysis of the text, an understanding of historical and cultural
contexts, and the ability to articulate one's interpretations effectively.
Furthermore, the essay demands a thoughtful exploration of the author's use of language,
symbolism, and imagery. Hughes, known for his poetic prowess, weaves a tapestry of emotions
and experiences that necessitates a keen eye for detail and an appreciation for literary devices.
Unraveling the subtle meanings behind each word and sentence becomes a puzzle, requiring a
deep dive into the intricacies of Hughes's writing style.
Beyond literary analysis, delving into the broader implications of the essay and connecting it to
universal themes adds another layer of complexity. Examining how Hughes's work resonates
with contemporary issues or societal challenges requires a critical and reflective approach.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Salvation" by Langston Hughes is a task that demands
intellectual rigor, a profound understanding of the author's intent, and the ability to convey these
insights coherently. It is not merely a matter of summarizing the narrative but rather an exercise

Media Multitasking Effects
New mediums for social networking and digital communication are continually
being created and integrated into the population. Thus, media multitasking has
become increasingly prevalent in current society. And whilst past research has
examined the effects of various media devices on social and cognitive
development, little is known about the possible effects of media multitasking on
various developmental processes. Up to date research is needed to discover
possible implications of these new devices. The goal of this study was to discover
possible relationships between social and emotional well being and media use as
well as media multitasking in 8 12 year old girls. The authors hypothesized multiple
outcomes for the research. The first prediction
The Rfc 4949 Between Confidentiality And Privacy
Assignment No. 1 1a. Discuss how the RFC 4949 distinguishes between
confidentiality and privacy. In the context of network security, confidentiality is a
technical term. The RFC 4949 defines Confidentiality as the property that
information is not made available or hidden from unauthorized individuals like
hackers, etc., entities, or processes i.e., to any unauthorized system entity e.g.
spoofs, etc. Privacy is the basic reason for security rather than a kind or sub type of
security. For example, a system that stores personal data (like some important bank
account details) needs to protect the data to prevent harm, embarrassment, illegal
access, inconvenience, or unfairness to any person about whom data is maintained,
and to protect the person s privacy. For that reason, the system (here the bank) needs
to provide data confidentiality service. E.g. If a patient has some disease or some
problem which he/she doesn t want to disclose with any other then the term Privacy
come in to picture and the Doctor provides the data confidentiality service by keeping
the disease private. 1.b.Discuss confidentiality services and mechanisms as specified
by Recommendation X.800. The confidentiality services and mechanisms can be
incorporated into the appropriate protocol layer in order to provide some of the OSI
security services. Encipherment The use of mathematical algorithms to transform
data into a form that is not readily intelligible. The transformation and subsequent

Strong Marketing Strategy
To start with, we could say that the brand Red Bull has a strong marketing strategy
for product value to potential customers. The strategy for building the brand has been
created around an easy goal. A consumer is in need of energy, the company wants

Multi-Dimensional Health Assessment
Throughout this semester, I have demonstrated a basic, multi dimensional health
assessment. I completed a multi dimensional health assessment on my resident as
demonstrated in completing part G of the RCP. Throughout this semester, I learned
that as a nurse you will be constantly assessing the patient as soon as you walk into
their room. I have implemented the habit as soon as I walk into my patient s room,
I assess his skin, his status of alertness, asking if he has any pain, as well as listening
to his heart and lungs; then I do the focused assessment that is required for that day.
As demonstrated in my weekly self evaluations, I have improved on my
documentation skills and will continue to improve on this skill throughout my career.

Prohibition in Canada Essay
Prohibition in Canada
Prohibition was a very interesting time in the history of Canada it was a very good
time period for the country and also a bad time for the country. Prohibition all began
to rise around the 1840 s and the 1850 s by temperance groups in Canada, this set the
bases for prohibition because some people were starting to see the affect that alcohol
had on a society. Prohibition actually only lasted for two years ( 1917 to 1920 )
through out the entire country, except Quebec they adopted the law in 1919 but they
could still sell light beer, cider and wine. At this time the laws that were in place
were that alcohol was prohibited in every place in Canada except Quebec. Prohibition
was not all about the use of alcohol it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When caught bootlegging liquor you would be issued a fine, this made things
alright because everyone was happy, the laws were so hard to enforce that the
government was just happy collecting fine money and the bootleggers were happy
cause it was a small price to pay for the amount of money they were making. The
most ironic thing about prohibition is that it is the major bases for what we call
organized crime. When prohibition was first being, talked about in the 1840 s and
the 1850 s this was the beginning of the subject prohibition In 1864 the Dunken
Act was passed and this left the local people to declare if their counties should be
dry. This act fell apart when confederation came about in Canada but, it came back
about 14 years later but it was called The Canadian Temperance Act (The Scott Act)
this act was an act of trying to control liquor. In 1886 Nova Scotia had its own
Temperance Act, they wanted to tighten up liquor regulations. Schools at the time
had mandatory Temperance education that was made to be taught. This was the start
of prohibition in Canada. It took quite a few years to get off the ground and get
peoples attention. Prohibition actually did not get popular until after World War One
because the focus of the people of Canada was the issue of warfare. Some of the
arguments by prohibitionists were that

1897. Afterwards, Eric attended to Chichester Technical and Art School. Three years
later, he moved to London as a trainee to become an architect with the practice and
help of specialist in ecclesiastical architecture, W.D. Caroe. Soon after, he became
unsatisfied in his architectural training, deciding to study at Westminster Technical

decided to practice calligraphy at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. It was there
that he met one of his major influences, Edward Johnson, the creator of the London

Challenges Faced By Clients And Clients
Discuss (don t list) some challenges and strengths you might encounter in working
with clients living in rural areas. How might you help rural clients overcome some of
these challenges they face?
Challenges:
Living an in a rural area one will experience a lot of challenges working with
clients. One of the many challenges is you will know everyone who you have
worked with meaning the clients and social workers have a dual relationship. I live
/work in rural area and I see my old clients at my local Walmart since their town
does not have a Walmart. It is always important to allow the individual to speak to
you first. Another challenge a social worker will experience is the transportation. The
client may or may not have transportation not to mention the client may not have the
current funds to travel to seek services. I know in Australia a lot of the remote
locations in the Northern Territory and Western Australian territory will have a
designated building where doctors, dentists, and various other practices will visit on
certain days. As mentioned in the class lecture, the client may or may not have the
proper education about mental health. Living in a small town, many individuals in
my town do not understand mental illness and the impact on the individual. It is the
obligation of a social worker to educate the client about mental health. For example,
many individuals in my area do not know the symptoms or behaviors of wanting to
commit suicide. A few years ago, many

Thesis/Central Idea: The three specific things about Zora Neale Hurston that makes
her influential/admirable include being a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance, an
anthropologist, and an American writer regarding folklore.
Introduction
I. (Attention Getter) Quote by Zora Neale Hurston about Harlem Renaissance It
would be against all nature for all the Negroes to be either at the bottom, top, or in
between. We will go where the internal drive carries us like everybody else. It is up

II. (Relevancy Statement) One of the reasons Zora Neale Hurston is an influential
person was because of her works at the time of the Harlem Renaissance. This quote
combines both the reawakening of creativity and the ambitious push for others to put
forth their own creative works.
III. (Credibility Statement) In 1926, Zora and a collection of other young writers
including Langston Hughes and Wallace Thurman produced a literary magazine
called Fire!! This showcased the art of the Harlem Renaissance. Their Eyes Were
Watching God was written by Zora during her field trip to Haiti and is now regarded
as a classic African American feminist text. Their Eyes Were Watching God rejects
assimilating White America s cultural standards, but instead celebrated African
American communities.

Advertising techniques like pay per click advertising ensure that the advertiser only
pays for the advertisements that are actually viewed. As it is fruit store only dry
fruits and fruit products need to ship to far distances. Most of the shipment would be
around the local area thus it is cost effective(the local shipment would be similar to
that of pap johns). Customers would prefer to have such an online store. The fruits
could be bought in bulk or in small quantity. All these could be lacking for the
emango.com thus causing loss. The emango.com would not be able to reach its
customers and market in an easier way than the Internet.
3. Customer Service
Customer service is the most important factor in every business. With an online
service the supplier could provide an improved customer service. As the customer
enters the website they could be greeted by a pop up chat window. Many websites
now provide an online chat, where the customers could chat with a customer care
executive and clarify all the doubts about the products or any other details. Even the
customer could contact the customer service executive through phone which is a
24x7 service. Making customers happy is the important factor for improving the
business and to gain benefits. All these customer services could not be provided if the
Internet is not being utilized.

The Virginity Trade
Matthew Watson s 2009 film, Cambodia: The Virginity Trade, is a gut wrenching
documentary exposing the atrocities of child sex trafficking and child prostitution.
At the heart of the film are the young child victims of the trade, it specifically
focuses on the horrific context of virginity as a commodity and gives the viewer a
glimpse of the stark realities of thousands of children living in impoverished
Cambodia. In Cambodia s society, high value is placed on the virginity and sexual
innocence of young women and girls. The loss of a girl s virginity before marriageis
viewed as bringing shame to her familys honor and status (1:38). Through a series of
compelling interviews, Watson reveals the driving forces behind the demands for

The enormously high poverty rate, coupled with the crackdown on pedophilia in
the western world makes Cambodia particularly vulnerable and child sex
trafficking has become a lucrative way to exploit the country s natural resources.
One of the young girls featured in the film, Da Lin, tells her story I sold my
virginity to an old man for $500, I did it to help my family, my parents were sick
and my brothers and sisters are young and had to go to school, my virginity was
the only thing of value we had (2:15). Another young girl explains how she suffered
a stroke due to the abuse she endured. The stories go on and on, young children sold
as child sex workers by their husbands, boyfriends, friends and family members. They
cannot seek help from the authorities for fear of imprisonment, and they face exile
from their villages due to shame.
Perhaps the most disturbing, yet intriguing parts of the film were the interviews with
the Cambodian male clients who justify their desire for sex with young virgin girls
because of their cultural beliefs about maintaining their youthful appearance and
health. Participating in sexual activities with virgins is also believed to be a way of
avoiding the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. The film delicately explains the cycle of
young girls who are destined to remain in prostitution because there are no other
options for them to earn money once they are forced into the

aware of one surgeon is able to operate on people with many different issues. I have
heard the story of Gynecologist surgeon who also operates on children with other

surgeons who practice very specific part of the body. This way, it is safer, and
without much doubt one knows that he/she is dealing with someone who is
trained, educated, and experienced in one particular field. In some particular cases,
hospitals have granted privileges to physicians/surgeons to carry out certain
procedures, but cannot depend on theoretical knowledge. Medicine is one the fields
where theoretical knowledge only will not be considered as proof of experience.
Also, no one can claim to be experienced through training and practice without the
required years of theoretical knowledge. Both are required here, theory and practice.
However, specific practice is required. For the surgeon needs to specialize in a
particular area.
Not all surgical procedures are the same, each procedure necessitates very specific

The Inconvenience Of Reading In Charles Foster Kane s...
The Inconvenience of Reading
Young children are egocentric, unable to understand the world around them from a
perspective other than their own. Yet due to neural plasticity, they rapidly develop
agglutinative schemas, categories of knowledge that shape how they understand and
respond to the world. As time passes, their horizons expand and solidify. Now adults,
they read the world as we all do: through contextual mediums and filters. While the
relationship between the reader and the world is multiplex, reading is an essential
means by which one constructs and derives meaning.
Since we read the world through mediums, mass media is one of the most potent
institutions. It cultivates societal and cultural norms, serving as an educator and
entertainer. The media builds narratives, framing real life events to fulfill their
agendas. In Citizen Kane, publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane capitalizes on the
power of modern mass media. He uses the New York Inquirer to lead his yellow
journalism crusade. The sensationalist narratives he directs lead the newspaper s
readers to view Cuban independence via a war with Spain as a necessity.
Kane is not alone. A number of governments frame the news to control how their
citizens read the world. Propaganda films and firewalls alike allow the state to
manufacture its own narrative in the context of global affairs. In democratic nations
alike, yellow journalism tactics have mutated to adapt to today s media channels,
social media and traditional

Oscar Wilde Poetry Analysis
Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde
Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet
themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born
on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and
William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and
German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but
out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde
because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it
was written I really loved.
At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would
make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He
was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German
like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is
inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat
was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from
1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek
literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen.
Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem
Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is
very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and
painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as
snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is
stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow
means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her
breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave
and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even
mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza
five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here,
Heap earth upon it.
Methods Of Recruitment Of Comfort Women
Methods of Recruitment There were various ways in which the Japanese Military
recruited woman for comfort stations. It is important to first understand that in no
document of the very few found on the recruitment of women to comfort stations was
there any mention of women consenting to either recruitment or what they were
required to do once in the stations. This is important when reflecting on the social
situations in which victims encountered post war. The recruitment of comfort women
is used by many anti apologists , people who think Japanese responsibility for comfort
stations should be extinguished, believe that accepting the offer by recruiters to leave
the village constitutes consent. One of the ways that women were recruited... Show

During the Second World War there were atrocities so profound, that current
vocabulary was not adequate to described them. With this the world was introduced to
the terms genocide and holocaust , but what language should be used when
referencing the women affected by comfort station? It is not like wartime brothels
were an anomaly of this war, so does the label prostitute suffice? Though a small
amount of women in comfort stations were professional prostitutes, the majority of
women who were recruited into these comfort stations did not have knowledge of
what waited for them. Even in recent years, neo nationalist attempt to claim that
comfort women were simply prostitutes following Japan s Military. Sarah Soh argues
that the masculinist representation of the women involved in these sex crimes as
prostitutes merely attempts to preclude humanitarian recognition of the violence
committed. Prostitution generally involves three elements: (1) some degree of sexual
activity or conduct, (2) compensation, and (3) intent to commit prostitution. These

photography in order to understand just how much influence pictures can have over
society s beliefs, emotions, and understandings . I have have chosen two highly
influential photographers, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, who I have found to
both resonate with me and perfectly capture human emotions in way that moves
others. Diane Arbus was a photographer in the 1950 s and 60 s. Starting out as a
fashion photographer, Arbus quickly moved on to photographing more impactful
pictures, usually of societal outsiders ( The Cost of Diane, 2016). With striking
images of freaks, as she once named her subject, Arbus perfectly depicted feelings of
loneliness and struggles with identity. I believe Arbus resonates with me so much
because of her uncanny ability to showcase such complex and intense human
emotions through photography repeatedly. Each picture tells a different story with
different struggles, yet each share emotions so commonly felt. These unalike, yet
similar photographs each hold a piece of personal and... Show more content on

The Seasons and What They Mean in Japanese Culture
In Noh there are many things that are significant, and that have deeper meanings. For
instance the simple way that they walk, sing, and move all mean something more.
While doing the presentations on a Noh play I noticed something beautiful about the
play that I had chosen. Spring was mentioned a lot, it had many cameos in the play.
In Yuya the entire back story of the play is the discussions of going to see the cherry
blossoms. Spring in Japan means a whole lot more than just another season. It
means new life, and new beginnings, a way for family to come together and start
anew. So while taking this course I really picked up on the seasonal aspect of Noh
whether it be spring, autumn, summer, or winter. Each setting gave a new feeling
of how people reacted, and it s true in real life also. So in this essay I will be
discussing all of the seasons and what they mean in Japanese culture, with some
symbolic things and Noh examples also. Spring also known as haru is the first of
four seasons in Japan, from March to May. The significance of the cherry blossom
tree in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. In their country, the cherry
blossom represents the simplicity and the beauty of life. It just shows that even
though life is sometimes wonderful and beautiful, it can also be very short and to
always remember that we only have so long. When the cherry blossom trees bloom
for a short time each year, they show that very well since they are so beautiful but

Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
The goal of countless societies throughout human history has been to establish both
complete freedom and absolute equality. However, this goal is, by its very nature,
unachievable. These two ideal states cannot coexist in their most perfect forms. Also,
the perfect forms of either freedom or equality represent total chaos or total
oppression, respectively. In Kurt Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron, we see the
consequences of sacrificing freedom for perfect equality. Vonnegut uses the story of
this utopia gone wrong to demonstrate that a society in which total equality exists is
not only oppressive, but also static and inefficient. He makes this point using his

In the case of Harrison Bergeron, this is represented by Diana Moon Glampers.
She is never portrayed as having any handicaps and must be assumed to have a
level of intelligence above that of Hazel, who represents what this society calls
normal, to carry out her job. Societal changes do not happen over night. If people s
freedom were taken away in one fell swoop they would fight it. Instead, oppression
is a series of small losses of freedom. It s like the old analogy of a frog and boiling
water. If you drop a frog in boiling water, he jumps out, on the contrary, if you put a
frog in cool water and slowly raise it to boiling, he boils to death. This process is
shown in the story by the fact that All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and
213th Amendments to the Constitution (243). Given that this story was written in
1961, is set in 2081, and is the author s prediction for the future of his society, we
can assume that this process of making everyone equal through oppression took
place over a 120 year period. Some would argue that, although we re not to this
level of oppression yet, we re well on our way with institutions such as affirmative
action. Whereas equality is sometimes the will of the governed people, this is often
not the case. People like to be rewarded for doing things that are above and beyond
average. If they can do a better job and make more money than next person, they
believe they should be allowed to. Even the below average of
Montage Of A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Many of the poems within Montage of a Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes
contain great meaning as well as emotion embedded within them. Whether they are
3 lines or 20 lines long, vivid images and explanations follow. The main focus of the
series of poems are centralized on African Americans living in Harlem in the 20 s and
on and their opposition from the rest. The motif in nearly all poems express
discrimination, daily activities, and African Americans struggle for equality. Out of
all poems, certain ones such as Theme for English B , Ballad of the Landlord , and
Harlem #2 stood out. These short poems have a similar correlation carrying the same
meaning and or idea.

student realizes that not only does the teacher have the ability to teach, but even the
students can teach the teacher something they never knew regardless if he/she is
older, white, and more free than he is. Langston Hughes states that all Americans are
shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American.
Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth
conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black
tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken
steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his
landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a
further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets
arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a
theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored
and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment
explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken.
Lastly, in the poem Harlem #2 , the speaker right off the bat tosses many rhetorical
questions that the reader can ponder on. What happens to a dream deferred? Does it

Cato The Elder
Cato the Elder lived from 234 BC to 149 BC and was born with the name Marcus
Porcius Cato. Cato grew up on his father s farm after he passed when he was a
child. He joined the military service at the age of 17 years old. He fought under
Fabius Maximus to recapture Tarentum during the Second Punic War. Cato also
fought in the battle of Metaurus and Umbria. In 191 BC he sent to Greece during
the invasion of Antiochus III the Great. He later became a Roman senator. Using
military force, Cato put an end to a rebellion in Spain in 195/194 BC. He combated
Greek influences to preserve older Roman standards of morality. He had a large
influence of the growth of Latin literature. Cato wrote the Orignies which told the

Facial Expressions
A History on Universal Facial Expressions: The Works of Lamarck, Izard and
Russell Kathleen Coyne Boyles From the time of the ancient Greeks through to the
modern age, understanding and interpreting man s emotions and body language have
been a source of both fasicnation and a point of intellectual debate. The ancient
philosophers, such as Aristotle, proposed the idea that the face takes on varying
appearances which are characteristic of each of the passions (or emotions) of
humankind. The famous Greek masks of the theatre embody exaggerated facial
expressions in order to dramatize the great joys and tragedies of human existence.
Artists throughout history have worked to capture facial expression while

In this way, the son inherits this soft characteristic and the facial expression
becomes a feature of soft inheritance. In Use and Disuse Theory, adaptation in a
species occurs because complex force drives organisms further up a ladder of
increasing complexity. Then, environmental force adapts organisms to their local
environment. Adaptation evolves by using some characteristics more than others
based upon differing environments. Those characteristics not used or needed as
much drop off and those needed to suit a particular environment are passed on. In
some ways, the so called Ghost of Lamarck left its impressions upon Darwin and
sparked a debate among evolutionary theorists as to whether characteristics like
facial expressions are socially learned skills which can be inherited by the next
generation or if they are universal and slowly evolving, purely biologically
programmed responses to basic human survival. Universality of Facial Expressions
Darwinian thought holds that facial expressions are universal in nature and
evolved in man alongside his basic struggle for survival. These facial expressions
developed in order to protect and keep the species alive. One example would be
that a tribe watches a woman take a bite out of a poisonous plant and observes her
face as she shows disgust or pain. Watching this response, the tribe knows not to taste
this plant because this facial expression has long been biologically ingrained

Toussaint L Ouverture essay
This eloquent by Wendell Phillips speech takes a journey back to Toussaint L
Ouverture s time as being the most powerful Haitian leader. The timing of this
speech is impeccable because it is prior to the Civil War, during which there was
simmering debate over African Americanmilitary service. The speech is primarily
aimed at northerners but it can also be interpreted as a stern message or rebuke to
southerners. The key goal of the speech is to persuade northerners that African
Americans would make a valuable addition to the Union army. Phillips is a white
abolitionist himself, which establishes a sense of ethos. Throughout the speech
Phillips asserts that despite history being against Toussaint L Ouverture, he is a man
of honor and is above all the rest. This is achieved by outlining his little known
accomplishments and humble beginnings.
Phillips argues that despite many odds, he routs the British, the French, and the
Spaniards: from the reluctant testimony of Britons, Frenchmen, Spaniards As a result
of these numerous European defeats, history is reluctantly written to acknowledge
the losses suffered by Europe and the triumph of the Haitians. This helps the
audience understand that L Ouverture is not be underestimated, which then enables a
sense of reverence for L Ouverture. Phillips goes on to argue that L Ouverture is self
made and was victorious by virtue of his own skills: [Toussaint] forged a thunderbolt

Homelessness In Untouchables By Jonathan Kozol
When you see the homeless what do you think about? Do you see them and feel
disgust or are you someone who wonders how and why they are where they are, or
maybe, you are one of the few who want to help and who are able to. In the U.S.,
more than 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year and that number is
growing. They are families with little children, people who are trying to escape
domestic violence, people with mental illness, veterans who have served our country,
and many more. From what I read in Jonathan Kozol s Untouchables city officials in
various places are only coming up with short termsolutions, that aren t helping the
homeless. City officials are just trying to get rid of the homeless from their cities
or area. I think it s time that more individuals and groups, really gets involved and
figure out a way to help those who are already homeless, and stop future people
from becoming homeless. We have to come up with ways to help the homeless
readjust and get back into the world. The first thing we as people need to do, is
really educate other younger and older people on the homeless. People don t have a
clear insight into who homeless people are. For example, I went and asked several
young kids in my neighborhood who they think the homeless are and for the most
part they said they are drug addicts and people who just don t want to live within
society. People have so many misconceptions about homeless people they judge them
so harshly. Yeah,
Undervalued Stocks
Are you sure you know what undervalued stocks really are and how these work?
These stocks are the ones that are selling lower than what their intrinsic financial
value should be. It is actually a company s strategic way to attract potential investors,
because these undervalued stocks have, in fact, a higher cash flow potential than the
true value of the stocks.
Did you know that companies that offer these have many assets?
These companies usually do not deal with high technology, which can become
outdated overnight.
These companies did not suffer losses due to recessions.
They are not involved in financial scandals.
They have a stable earnings past.
An excellent stock at a good price will more likely be undervalued when compared
with a poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So how can we find these stocks?
Although purchasing undervalued stocks is a great strategy for reaping good profits
from the market, the stocks are actually difficult to find. You really need a good
strategy and some tangible inside information.
To find these, you should start by analyzing metrics, such as price to book values.
This analysis will help you get a clearer picture of which stocks or fields will most
likely offer a better performance in the long run, although they are now considered
undervalued.
This price to book ratio (P/B) will tell you how much the investors are prepared to
pay for individual company stocks. You will be looking at the ratio values; thus, a
stock with a high ratio will be the more expensive one.
Before you invest in such stocks, you need to conduct some serious technical analysis.
When you have an idea about an undervalued stock that you intend to buy, examine
the company s balance sheet closely. If the company has management problems,
avoid investing in them!
Check the company s profit to earnings (P/E) ratio, which is very important and will
give you the true value of the undervalued stock you are interested in. When the P/E
of desired stocks is lower than those of other companies in the same field, then you
probably have winning deals at hand.

Foucault s essay tended to dismiss the author from his position with respect to analyse
the texts while Barthes granted all the interpretative responsibly to the reader. Both
theorists apprehended the notion of author has no authority in directing the
interpretation of their writings. Foucault, in his essay What Is an Author? argues that
the critics should not evaluate the text in relation with its author, instead, they should
analyse the text itself in the light of the its structure, basic form and its design
architecture. His brief description of author is just a discursive person. Foucault
commented on himself in his essay for being focused on a specific subject, he
justifies that it is not because they were interesting to him but because the subject
may have something to do his personal life. He affirms that his experience with the
things that surround him would help him better recognize or understand them when
he does any theoretical work (Mills, 11). Foucault interlinks author and work , in way
that author s text is counted as his work thus he argues that if author is

INTRODUCTION
Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) refers to a complex series of rare but well
studied enzymatic errors of metabolism with deficient levels of different enzymes
involved in the synthesis of cortisol (hydrocortisone).
CAH comprises a group of disorders resulting from defective synthesis of adrenal
corticosteroids. Lack of glucocorticoids, especially cortisol, causes various kinds of
metabolic problems. The response to low levels of cortisol is increased production
of corticotropin (ACTH). Lack of mineralocorticoids, primarily aldosterone (steroid
hormone), causes sodium and water imbalance which, in some cases, can be fatal.
The various forms of CAH represent defects in the different stages of corticosteroid

Using Rigid Panels Like Plywood
Concrete has no opinion about its shape; a gloppy material, it will take any shape
give it, as long as it s given time to cure. Traditionally, concrete is cast using rigid
panels like plywood. Although reinforce concrete become the standard in the last
decades, few of its potentialities have been fully exploited. Apart from the
unconquerable inertia of our minds, which do not seem to be able to adopt freely
new ideas, the main cause of this delay is a trivial technicality: the need to prepare
wooden forms (Nervi, 1956, p. 95). Most industrial material are produced through
single axis mills. This produced uniform surface. The obvious exceptions are cast
materials such as concrete. But if concrete is cast into molds made of rigid, flat
material produced by milling, the result will likely be flat and straight forms.
Fabric formwork is a building technique that uses structural membranes as the main
material for concrete molds. Unlike traditional formwork, fabric formwork is
highly flexible and can deflect under the pressure of concrete. The results are
variety of shapes that are not normally associated with concrete. As buildings
become more complex, there is an increasing demand for molding creative and
organic forms. Concrete, theoretically, is the perfect material to make a variety of
shape. Fresh concrete can be shaped in different types of formwork. The visual
appearance and effect of fabric formed concrete is strikingly different from that of
conventional concrete

movies than ever before, with an average budget of $140 million per movie.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ; the most expensive movie ever made;

however, even after adjusting for inflation, their impact on the industry isn t as

The Great Depression and World War II. Money was tight everywhere and
Hollywood could not continue making extravagant movies therefore they turned to

industry. These low risk movies provided directors, writers and producers with a
wide scope for experimentation and led to the creation of many genres and sub

Acid Rain Is Polluted Rain
Acid Rain
Acid rain is polluted rain. The pollutants go up to the atmosphere and when it rains it
brings the pollution down with it. Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide are the gases
that form the acid rain. When these gases mix with moisture it can make rain, snow,
hail, or even fog. The scientific term for acid rain is acid deposition which means
when the acid is taken from the air and is deposited on the earth. Major industries,
coal burning factories, power plants and automoble engines are the main sources of
sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which caues acid rain. Volcaneoes and forest fires

If the soil does not have enough acid in it, it may be made more acidic by the
application of alum, sulfur, or by adding gypsum to the soil. To add more acid to
the soil you can also lift the plants and replacing the whole bed to a depth of nine
inches with acid soil.
It is not easy to make neutral soils acid. Sulfur is the most commonly used to
increase the soils acidity, but it acts very slowly. So acid rain is good for some
plants in some places with alkaline soil because some of the plants want acid.
Some acid requiring plants are several popular shurbs, including azalea, camelia,
gardenias, blueberries, and rhododendron. Soils can be acid, alkaline, or neutral.
The amounts of alkaline and acid in the soil influence the biological and chemical
processes that take place in the soil. Highly alkaline or acid soils can harm many
plants. Neutral soils can support most of the processes. Florida s sandy soils are
naturally acidic, but the soil is easily changed from acid to neutral or even a base (
base is alkaline soil ) by the small amounts of lime and calcium that come from tiny
shells often found in the
Florida s sandy beaches. When acid rain falls from the sky it gets into the soil. The
plants only have time to absorb and store the water when the soil is wet. Then the
leftover water in the soil evaporates back into the sky where it becomes water vapor,
forms into clouds, and gets ready to rain again. It is the same thing with acid
Coloring Of Coloring Books For Children
Through the activity of coloring books, children can enjoy themselves and have fun.
But another wonderful benefit of coloring for children, is the opportunity to improve
focus and coordination. Improving the ability to sit and focus can carry over into
many other areas of a child s life. One task that can help improvefocus for a child is
coloring in an activity book. Another area that coloring can improve upon is hand
to eye coordination. Coloring can be a simple activity or more complex activity
depending on the images chosen to color. This can greatly assist in improving focus
and hand to eye coordination for a child. Improving these areas of development for a
child through coloring can greatly benefit other areas in a child s life.
Improving Focus through Coloring
Many people struggle everyday with keeping focused on chosen tasks, adults and
children alike. But a relaxing and easy task that can help improve focus for children
is coloring. Coloring also gives children the opportunity to focus on an activity that
requires planning and strategy. It can be a task that can be fun and extremely
rewarding at the same time. Coloring requires the mind to work on one thing at a
time, requiring the brain to focus. This attention to focusing on a given task can be
such an underlying reward for a child.
Coloring creates an Activity that is a Reward for Focusing on a Task
Through focusing on a task and completing that given task, children can feel a sense

Why use lukewarm (or room temperature) instead of cold or hot water to make this

Macbeth, by William Shakespeare explores the theme of power, sleep and guilt. For
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to be able to be on the throne and fulfill the prophecy,
they need to murder Kind Duncan. Unfortunately, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth didn t
think of the unanticipated consequences of committing the murder. The
consequences that they are faced with include guiltiness, lack of sleep and broken
relationships.
The murder of King Duncan comes after Macbeth has heard the prophecies made by
the witches. He was told that he will not only be Thane of Cawdor, but King of
Scotland. Macbeth and Banquo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lady Macbeth is always questioning Macbeth s manhood, ...to be more than what
you were, you would/ be so much more the man (Act 1, scene 7, lines 55, 56 Pg
29), and forcing him to make decisions he doesn t want to make. Therefore, Macbeth
doesn t consult his wife before killing Banquo and Fleance.
Lady Macbeth starts to sleep walk and talk in her sleep for several nights. During
her sleepwalking, she reveals the details of the murders for which she and
Macbeth have been responsible for. I tell you again, Banquo s buried. He cannot
come out on his grave. (Act 5, Scene 1, pg 94 lines 44 46). Lady Macbeth wants to
undo the death of Duncan; change the past but she knows that she can t. What s
done cannot be undone (Act 5, scene 1, pg 92, lines 56 60). She sees blood on her
hands, but she cannot remove the imaginary ere blood, out damned spot! Out I

the smell of the blood still./ All perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand
(Act 5, scene 1, pg 92, lines 43, 44) Lady Macbeth s sleepwalking shows that she
can t escape her guilty conscience even when she is sleeping. The significance of
Lady Macbeth s hand washing is that she can t remove the guilty thought of the
murder of Duncan. Lady Macbeth eventually ends her own life, which is an

Schindler s List Book Vs Movie
Schindler s List was a movie based on the novel Schindler s Ark . This movie showed
a heroic man who saved over 1000 jews. His name was Oskar Schindler. At first, he
was wasn t affected that much by the Holocaust, but over time he grew sympathy
and felt bad for Jews. He began to bring in Jews into his factory even if they weren t
up to work. He tried getting everyone that was available to work in his factory. He
knew how to get his way, so he wanted a new factory built and he got it. He has a list
typed out listing each Jew we wanted to work for him. This is exactly where the
movie title came from if you couldn t tell. Though he did save over 1000 Jews, he lost
everything at the end. But it all seemed worth it to him. All he wanted to do is save
everyone from this terrible war. My opinion on this movie is that it seemed to
demonstrate things way better than a documentary would. It showed at least one
good man that felt bad and it showed his side of the story. How hard he tried to save
everyone with trying to be very secretive about it.I honestly do not think this is the
best question to ask, but this movie obviously reminded me of WW2. This movie
demonstrated details and events from the holocaust. Not... Show more content on

It is the Darfur genocide. Arab militias called Janjaweed go through Western Sudan.
They burn villages, intentionally killing Darfurians, looting economic resources,
raping, murdering, and torturing them. Over 400,000 Darfurians have been been
killed and over 2,500,000 have been displaced due to such events ongoing. Another
genocide that was not too long ago was the Bosnia genocide that lasted about 4
years, 1991 1995. The reasons why this happened was because Bosnia and
Herzegovina wanted independence. That wasn t given, so the Serbs started targeting
Bosniak and Croatian in the areas where the cleaning was taking place. This
genocide claimed the lives of 100,000

Unicon Concrete Products (H.K.) Ltd Case Report
April 1, 2010
Executive Summary
Unicon is a major player in the flourishing Hong Kong market for pre cast concrete
products and Mr. Li, the deputy managing director is pursuing the idea of blanket
approval for Unicon s custom design concrete products with one of it s largest
customers, the Hong Kong Housing Authority. This proposition could offer savings
to both Unicon and the customer but this could adversely affect the relations with
other customers and the manufacturing operations. If Unicon is to stay competitive in
the ever expanding market, management must have a plan to ... Show more content on

There are 14 stat. holidays per year.

Facade Production;
1120 / block / 25 per day = 44.8 days/block for façade capacity =324/44.8 = 7.2

In the Hong Kong market facades and slabs are in the early stages of their product
life cycle, partitioning walls and stairs are more advanced stages. Partitioning
walls were first produced in 1972 and unlike facades and slabs are produced in
standard sizes using a module design. The old method of pour in place walls and
floors are mature according to this case. Demand for precast is rapidly growing
because of the Hong Kong construction market. As the markets grow we are
expecting to see more modular designs and standard dimensions emerge. Unicon has
to be careful since competitors from mainland China are expected to enter the market
next year when barriers fall.
There are advantages and disadvantages of the blanket approval approach. Who will
actually benefit from the cost reductions? It may not be Unicon since competitive
pressures may force the pre cast construction companies to pass on some of their
savings. The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) might look for some sort of
rebate from the general contractors, this will insure that the cost saving measure is
includes in all projects. Unicon has to
Safe Place Risk Analysis
I chose Fargo, North Dakota for my safest place and my date chose Phoenix,
Arizona for her safest place. I chose Fargo, North Dakota because its far away from
the coast, thus earthquake, volcanic, and hurricane risk should be minimal. Fargo
has an elevation of 899 feet thus mass wasting should not be a huge problem. The
main risks should be weather related (such as blizzards), flooding, and possibly
subsidence because of the oil boom. I can handle these risks, which appear to be
fairly low. My date chose Phoenix, Arizona because it is hot and dry thus the risk of
floods should be minimal. Phoenix is also far enough away from the coast thus
earthquake, volcanic, and hurricane risk should be low. The only risk, according to
her would be the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also learned about the risks that I would be able to live with and the ones that I
would not be able to tolerate. The value of what I learned is that I can use these
natural disaster risk maps to choose a safe place to live (or at least to choose a
place with hazards that I can tolerate). Ignorance is dangerous when it comes to
purchasing a home. If the location that I purchase has certain risks associated with
it, then I would want to know about them so that I could prepare. My date
responded positively to our discussion. She saw the practicality in identifying the
risk involved with places she wanted to live. Needless to say, she crossed off some
of here dream living locations because of the high risks associated with them (such
as Key West, Florida). We had no arguments during our discussion. My date stated
that her family lives in Los Angeles and that the risks associated with them living
there are extremely high. However, she said that her family would never move
because they love where they live. I find it interesting that people will knowingly
live in risky areas because of the love and connection they have with the land. My
date found the notion of acceptable risk interesting. When she looked at the natural
disaster risk maps she quickly discovered that possibly every location in the United
States has some sort of risk. It is our job to learn about the different risks
First Solar, Inc.
First Solar, Inc. located in Huntington Beach is a design and manufacturing
company found in 1999 who produce photovoltaic modules, or solar panels,
through the use of thin film semiconductors (Reuters, para 2). The company
however, has a much earlier history than scribed. In 1984, inventor and owner of
Solar Cells, Inc Harold McMaster manufactured solar cells from silicon
(energyandcapital, para 2). However, as silicon became more expensive,
McMaster decided to switch to cadmium telluride. This material was far more
inexpensive than silicon which would eventually lead the company to thrive. So it
thrived, as in 1999 the company was purchased by True North Partners, LLC and
was named First Solar, Inc (energyandcapital, para 10). First Solar is the first solar
company to flourish and create new solar innovations. Such as, producing 1 GW of
solar electricity in a single year, breaking the one dollar per watt manufacturing
overhead cost, and creating a photovoltaic modulerecycling program (FirstSolar,
para 2). To put that into perspective clean technica explains that, 1GW of solar
power can power up to 750,000 homes and about 2 coal fired power plants (Shahan,
para 2). To evaluate whether First Solar is a smart investment decision, we will first
take a look at growth profitability of the company along with the corporate
responsibility the company holds. We will also take into consideration energy
efficiency as well as their support services. Based upon these factors a
Crude Oil Resources In Alberta
Alberta s Crude Oil Resources What is crude oil? Crude oil is found trapped in the
underground rock; it is a natural occurring mixture of hydrocarbon compounds,
cause from dead marine life and vegetation from millions of years ago. These
materials had died and settled on the bottoms of streams, lakes, and oceans; where
sediment had then covered this thick layer of organic materials, which applied heat
and cooked this layer of materials to form what we now extract from the ground as
petroleum. The critical part of Alberta s past, present, and future depend on the
drilling rigs on the prairies. Since 1914, when Alberta s first major oil field was
discovered at Turner Valley, oil resources have been a very important facet of the
provinces ways of life. Alberta s oil industry is an important part of the provinces
economy. It has provided thousands of jobs in production, transportation, refining,
distribution, and marketing. Crude oil production has been the third largest source of

Alberta Federal government within the Aboriginals reserves and by the Hudson s
Bay Company, by the railway companies and by the descendants of original
homesteaders through rights granted by the Federal Government before 1887.
New projects that begin every year are believed to increase to 3 billion barrels per
day by 2018, which means Lots of great things for the economy and the job force.
The availability of crude oil is high.

  • 3. The Rfc 4949 Between Confidentiality And Privacy Assignment No. 1 1a. Discuss how the RFC 4949 distinguishes between confidentiality and privacy. In the context of network security, confidentiality is a technical term. The RFC 4949 defines Confidentiality as the property that information is not made available or hidden from unauthorized individuals like hackers, etc., entities, or processes i.e., to any unauthorized system entity e.g. spoofs, etc. Privacy is the basic reason for security rather than a kind or sub type of security. For example, a system that stores personal data (like some important bank account details) needs to protect the data to prevent harm, embarrassment, illegal access, inconvenience, or unfairness to any person about whom data is maintained, and to protect the person s privacy. For that reason, the system (here the bank) needs to provide data confidentiality service. E.g. If a patient has some disease or some problem which he/she doesn t want to disclose with any other then the term Privacy come in to picture and the Doctor provides the data confidentiality service by keeping the disease private. 1.b.Discuss confidentiality services and mechanisms as specified by Recommendation X.800. The confidentiality services and mechanisms can be incorporated into the appropriate protocol layer in order to provide some of the OSI security services. Prohibition in Canada Essay Prohibition in Canada Prohibition was a very interesting time in the history of Canada it was a very good time period for the country and also a bad time for the country. Prohibition all began to rise around the 1840 s and the 1850 s by temperance groups in Canada, this set the bases for prohibition because some people were starting to see the affect that alcohol had on a society. Prohibition actually only lasted for two years ( 1917 to 1920 ) through out the entire country, except Quebec they adopted the law in 1919 but they could still sell light beer, cider and wine. The most ironic thing about prohibition is that it is the major bases for what we call organized crime. When prohibition was first being, talked about in the 1840 s and the 1850 s this was the beginning of the subject prohibition In 1864 the Dunken Act was passed and this left the local people to declare if their counties should be dry. In 1886 Nova Scotia had its own Temperance Act, they wanted to tighten up liquor regulations. Schools at the time had mandatory Temperance education that was made to be taught. This was the start of prohibition in Canada. It took quite a few years to get off the ground and get peoples attention. Prohibition actually did not get popular until after World War One because the focus of the people of Canada was the issue of warfare. Some of the arguments by prohibitionists were that

How might you help rural clients overcome some of these challenges they face? Challenges: Living an in a rural area one will experience a lot of challenges working with clients. One of the many challenges is you will know everyone who you have worked with meaning the clients and social workers have a dual relationship. I live /work in rural area and I see my old clients at my local Walmart since their town does not have a Walmart. It is always important to allow the individual to speak to you first. Another challenge a social worker will experience is the transportation. The client may or may not have transportation not to mention the client may not have the current funds to travel to seek services. I know in Australia a lot of the remote locations in the Northern Territory and Western Australian territory will have a designated building where doctors, dentists, and various other practices will visit on certain days. As mentioned in the class lecture, the client may or may not have the proper education about mental health. Living in a small town, many individuals in my town do not understand mental illness and the impact on the individual. It is the obligation of a social worker to educate the client about mental health. For example, many individuals in my area do not know the symptoms or behaviors of wanting to commit suicide. The stories go on and on, young children sold as child sex workers by their husbands, boyfriends, friends and family members. Perhaps the most disturbing, yet intriguing parts of the film were the interviews with the Cambodian male clients who justify their desire for sex with young virgin girls because of their cultural beliefs about maintaining their youthful appearance and health. Participating in sexual activities with virgins is also believed to be a way of avoiding the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. The film delicately explains the cycle of young girls who are destined to remain in prostitution because there are no other options for them to earn money once they are forced into the

The Inconvenience of Reading Young children are egocentric, unable to understand the world around them from a perspective other than their own. Yet due to neural plasticity, they rapidly develop agglutinative schemas, categories of knowledge that shape how they understand and respond to the world. As time passes, their horizons expand and solidify. Now adults, they read the world as we all do: through contextual mediums and filters. While the relationship between the reader and the world is multiplex, reading is an essential means by which one constructs and derives meaning. Since we read the world through mediums, mass media is one of the most potent institutions. It cultivates societal and cultural norms, serving as an educator and entertainer. The media builds narratives, framing real life events to fulfill their agendas. In Citizen Kane, publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane capitalizes on the power of modern mass media. He uses the New York Inquirer to lead his yellow journalism crusade. The sensationalist narratives he directs lead the newspaper s readers to view Cuban independence via a war with Spain as a necessity. Kane is not alone. A number of governments frame the news to control how their citizens read the world. Propaganda films and firewalls alike allow the state to manufacture its own narrative in the context of global affairs. • 20. Oscar Wilde Poetry Analysis Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it was written I really loved. At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from 1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen. Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here, Heap earth upon it.

  • 22. Diane Arbus And Dorothea Lange Before starting this project, I knew very little about photography, photographers, or exactly how much impact photographical images have had on our society. I have never taken a photography class, or researched too in depth about specific pictures or photographers. This project has allowed me to delve deeper into the world of photography in order to understand just how much influence pictures can have over society s beliefs, emotions, and understandings . I have have chosen two highly influential photographers, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, who I have found to both resonate with me and perfectly capture human emotions in way that moves others. Diane Arbus was a photographer in the 1950 s and 60 s. Starting out as a fashion photographer, Arbus quickly moved on to photographing more impactful pictures, usually of societal outsiders ( The Cost of Diane, 2016). With striking images of freaks, as she once named her subject, Arbus perfectly depicted feelings of loneliness and struggles with identity. I believe Arbus resonates with me so much because of her uncanny ability to showcase such complex and intense human emotions through photography repeatedly. For instance the simple way that they walk, sing, and move all mean something more. While doing the presentations on a Noh play I noticed something beautiful about the play that I had chosen. Spring was mentioned a lot, it had many cameos in the play. In Yuya the entire back story of the play is the discussions of going to see the cherry blossoms. Spring in Japan means a whole lot more than just another season. It means new life, and new beginnings, a way for family to come together and start anew. So while taking this course I really picked up on the seasonal aspect of Noh whether it be spring, autumn, summer, or winter. Each setting gave a new feeling of how people reacted, and it s true in real life also. So in this essay I will be discussing all of the seasons and what they mean in Japanese culture, with some symbolic things and Noh examples also. Spring also known as haru is the first of four seasons in Japan, from March to May. The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. In their country, the cherry blossom represents the simplicity and the beauty of life. It just shows that even though life is sometimes wonderful and beautiful, it can also be very short and to always remember that we only have so long. When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year, they show that very well since they are so beautiful but

Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron The goal of countless societies throughout human history has been to establish both complete freedom and absolute equality. However, this goal is, by its very nature, unachievable. These two ideal states cannot coexist in their most perfect forms. Also, the perfect forms of either freedom or equality represent total chaos or total oppression, respectively. In Kurt Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron, we see the consequences of sacrificing freedom for perfect equality. Vonnegut uses the story of this utopia gone wrong to demonstrate that a society in which total equality exists is not only oppressive, but also static and inefficient. He makes this point using his futuristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Harrison Bergeron, this is represented by Diana Moon Glampers. She is never portrayed as having any handicaps and must be assumed to have a level of intelligence above that of Hazel, who represents what this society calls normal, to carry out her job. Societal changes do not happen over night. If people s freedom were taken away in one fell swoop they would fight it. Instead, oppression is a series of small losses of freedom. It s like the old analogy of a frog and boiling water. If you drop a frog in boiling water, he jumps out, on the contrary, if you put a frog in cool water and slowly raise it to boiling, he boils to death. This process is shown in the story by the fact that All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution (243). Given that this story was written in 1961, is set in 2081, and is the author s prediction for the future of his society, we can assume that this process of making everyone equal through oppression took place over a 120 year period. Some would argue that, although we re not to this level of oppression yet, we re well on our way with institutions such as affirmative action. Whereas equality is sometimes the will of the governed people, this is often not the case. People like to be rewarded for doing things that are above and beyond average. If they can do a better job and make more money than next person, they believe they should be allowed to. Even the below average of

Langston Hughes states that all Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American. Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken. The ancient philosophers, such as Aristotle, proposed the idea that the face takes on varying appearances which are characteristic of each of the passions (or emotions) of humankind. In Use and Disuse Theory, adaptation in a species occurs because complex force drives organisms further up a ladder of increasing complexity. Then, environmental force adapts organisms to their local environment. Adaptation evolves by using some characteristics more than others based upon differing environments. Those characteristics not used or needed as much drop off and those needed to suit a particular environment are passed on. In some ways, the so called Ghost of Lamarck left its impressions upon Darwin and sparked a debate among evolutionary theorists as to whether characteristics like facial expressions are socially learned skills which can be inherited by the next generation or if they are universal and slowly evolving, purely biologically programmed responses to basic human survival. Universality of Facial Expressions Darwinian thought holds that facial expressions are universal in nature and evolved in man alongside his basic struggle for survival. Toussaint LOuverture Analysis Toussaint L Ouverture essay This eloquent by Wendell Phillips speech takes a journey back to Toussaint L Ouverture s time as being the most powerful Haitian leader. The timing of this speech is impeccable because it is prior to the Civil War, during which there was simmering debate over African Americanmilitary service. The speech is primarily aimed at northerners but it can also be interpreted as a stern message or rebuke to southerners. The key goal of the speech is to persuade northerners that African Americans would make a valuable addition to the Union army. Phillips is a white abolitionist himself, which establishes a sense of ethos. Throughout the speech Phillips asserts that despite history being against Toussaint L Ouverture, he is a man of honor and is above all the rest. This is achieved by outlining his little known accomplishments and humble beginnings. Phillips argues that despite many odds, he routs the British, the French, and the Spaniards: from the reluctant testimony of Britons, Frenchmen, Spaniards As a result of these numerous European defeats, history is reluctantly written to acknowledge the losses suffered by Europe and the triumph of the Haitians. This helps the audience understand that L Ouverture is not be underestimated, which then enables a sense of reverence for L Ouverture. Do you see them and feel disgust or are you someone who wonders how and why they are where they are, or maybe, you are one of the few who want to help and who are able to. In the U.S., more than 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year and that number is growing. They are families with little children, people who are trying to escape domestic violence, people with mental illness, veterans who have served our country, and many more. From what I read in Jonathan Kozol s Untouchables city officials in various places are only coming up with short termsolutions, that aren t helping the homeless. City officials are just trying to get rid of the homeless from their cities or area. I think it s time that more individuals and groups, really gets involved and figure out a way to help those who are already homeless, and stop future people from becoming homeless. We have to come up with ways to help the homeless readjust and get back into the world. The first thing we as people need to do, is really educate other younger and older people on the homeless. People don t have a clear insight into who homeless people are. For example, I went and asked several young kids in my neighborhood who they think the homeless are and for the most part they said they are drug addicts and people who just don t want to live within society. People have so many misconceptions about homeless people they judge them so harshly. Yeah,

This analysis will help you get a clearer picture of which stocks or fields will most likely offer a better performance in the long run, although they are now considered undervalued. This price to book ratio (P/B) will tell you how much the investors are prepared to pay for individual company stocks. You will be looking at the ratio values; thus, a stock with a high ratio will be the more expensive one. Before you invest in such stocks, you need to conduct some serious technical analysis. When you have an idea about an undervalued stock that you intend to buy, examine the company s balance sheet closely. If the company has management problems, avoid investing in them! Check the company s profit to earnings (P/E) ratio, which is very important and will give you the true value of the undervalued stock you are interested in. When the P/E of desired stocks is lower than those of other companies in the same field, then you probably have winning deals at hand. Article Source:

Traditionally, concrete is cast using rigid panels like plywood. Although reinforce concrete become the standard in the last decades, few of its potentialities have been fully exploited. Apart from the unconquerable inertia of our minds, which do not seem to be able to adopt freely new ideas, the main cause of this delay is a trivial technicality: the need to prepare wooden forms (Nervi, 1956, p. 95). The amounts of alkaline and acid in the soil influence the biological and chemical processes that take place in the soil. Highly alkaline or acid soils can harm many plants. Neutral soils can support most of the processes. Florida s sandy soils are naturally acidic, but the soil is easily changed from acid to neutral or even a base ( base is alkaline soil ) by the small amounts of lime and calcium that come from tiny shells often found in the Florida s sandy beaches. The consequences that they are faced with include guiltiness, lack of sleep and broken relationships. The murder of King Duncan comes after Macbeth has heard the prophecies made by the witches. • 43. Schindler s List Book Vs Movie Schindler s List was a movie based on the novel Schindler s Ark . This movie showed a heroic man who saved over 1000 jews. His name was Oskar Schindler. At first, he was wasn t affected that much by the Holocaust, but over time he grew sympathy and felt bad for Jews. He began to bring in Jews into his factory even if they weren t up to work. He tried getting everyone that was available to work in his factory. He knew how to get his way, so he wanted a new factory built and he got it. He has a list typed out listing each Jew we wanted to work for him. This is exactly where the movie title came from if you couldn t tell. Though he did save over 1000 Jews, he lost everything at the end. But it all seemed worth it to him. All he wanted to do is save everyone from this terrible war. My opinion on this movie is that it seemed to demonstrate things way better than a documentary would. It showed at least one good man that felt bad and it showed his side of the story. How hard he tried to save everyone with trying to be very secretive about it.I honestly do not think this is the best question to ask, but this movie obviously reminded me of WW2. This movie demonstrated details and events from the holocaust. Not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the Darfur genocide. Arab militias called Janjaweed go through Western Sudan. They burn villages, intentionally killing Darfurians, looting economic resources, raping, murdering, and torturing them. Another genocide that was not too long ago was the Bosnia genocide that lasted about 4 years, 1991 1995. The reasons why this happened was because Bosnia and Herzegovina wanted independence. That wasn t given, so the Serbs started targeting Bosniak and Croatian in the areas where the cleaning was taking place. This genocide claimed the lives of 100,000

Ltd Case Report April 1, 2010 Executive Summary Unicon is a major player in the flourishing Hong Kong market for pre cast concrete products and Mr. Li, the deputy managing director is pursuing the idea of blanket approval for Unicon s custom design concrete products with one of it s largest customers, the Hong Kong Housing Authority. This proposition could offer savings to both Unicon and the customer but this could adversely affect the relations with other customers and the manufacturing operations. Partitioning walls were first produced in 1972 and unlike facades and slabs are produced in standard sizes using a module design. The old method of pour in place walls and floors are mature according to this case. Demand for precast is rapidly growing because of the Hong Kong construction market. As the markets grow we are expecting to see more modular designs and standard dimensions emerge. Unicon has to be careful since competitors from mainland China are expected to enter the market next year when barriers fall. There are advantages and disadvantages of the blanket approval approach. Who will actually benefit from the cost reductions? It may not be Unicon since competitive pressures may force the pre cast construction companies to pass on some of their savings. The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) might look for some sort of rebate from the general contractors, this will insure that the cost saving measure is includes in all projects. Unicon has to

I chose Fargo, North Dakota because its far away from the coast, thus earthquake, volcanic, and hurricane risk should be minimal. Fargo has an elevation of 899 feet thus mass wasting should not be a huge problem. The main risks should be weather related (such as blizzards), flooding, and possibly subsidence because of the oil boom. I can handle these risks, which appear to be fairly low. I also learned about the risks that I would be able to live with and the ones that I would not be able to tolerate. The value of what I learned is that I can use these natural disaster risk maps to choose a safe place to live (or at least to choose a place with hazards that I can tolerate). Ignorance is dangerous when it comes to purchasing a home. If the location that I purchase has certain risks associated with it, then I would want to know about them so that I could prepare. My date responded positively to our discussion. She saw the practicality in identifying the risk involved with places she wanted to live. Needless to say, she crossed off some of here dream living locations because of the high risks associated with them (such as Key West, Florida). We had no arguments during our discussion. My date stated that her family lives in Los Angeles and that the risks associated with them living there are extremely high. However, she said that her family would never move because they love where they live. I find it interesting that people will knowingly live in risky areas because of the love and connection they have with the land. My date found the notion of acceptable risk interesting. When she looked at the natural disaster risk maps she quickly discovered that possibly every location in the United States has some sort of risk. It is our job to learn about the different risks

First Solar, Inc. located in Huntington Beach is a design and manufacturing company found in 1999 who produce photovoltaic modules, or solar panels, through the use of thin film semiconductors (Reuters, para 2). The company however, has a much earlier history than scribed. In 1984, inventor and owner of Solar Cells, Inc Harold McMaster manufactured solar cells from silicon (energyandcapital, para 2). However, as silicon became more expensive, McMaster decided to switch to cadmium telluride. This material was far more inexpensive than silicon which would eventually lead the company to thrive. So it thrived, as in 1999 the company was purchased by True North Partners, LLC and was named First Solar, Inc (energyandcapital, para 10). First Solar is the first solar company to flourish and create new solar innovations. Such as, producing 1 GW of solar electricity in a single year, breaking the one dollar per watt manufacturing overhead cost, and creating a photovoltaic modulerecycling program (FirstSolar, para 2). To put that into perspective clean technica explains that, 1GW of solar power can power up to 750,000 homes and about 2 coal fired power plants (Shahan, para 2). To evaluate whether First Solar is a smart investment decision, we will first take a look at growth profitability of the company along with the corporate responsibility the company holds. We will also take into consideration energy efficiency as well as their support services. Based upon these factors a
