The retail sales industry has undergone some noticeable transition in the array of payment methods over the years.
It is imperative that an innovative payment solution is introduced to replace an cashier checkout system especially when there is growing demand for it.
Assuredly, the addition of a mobile self-checkout application in industry will be more prominent in the next few years.
The aim is to develop a mobile self-checkout application for a retail store of a client.
Objective -
Develop a Mobile application having a barcode scanner facility, it will be used to scan the barcode given in product and add it to the cart.
Make the payment with multiple payments methods easily with app itself.
Once payment is done it give alert or message to store owner
Apart from this app will access current location of store and give the products details according to that particular store only.
Application Domain -
Through this application we can easy people’s life by not wasting their time to go through the cashier checkout point, and the product review are also there in the application.
There will be a great impact of this application as It helps in a great measure cut off the long line at the cashier checkout points
which can be frustrating at times for both customers and the cashier.

Webinar:How to drive eCommerce growth with post purchase experienceSakshi Singh
The “post-purchase” is an essential, yet often neglected, stage of the eCommerce customer journey. According to Retail Learning, retail brands spend almost 80% of their budget on attracting new visitors to their website and neglect communicating when it comes to continuing the conversation with customers after their purchase. What's interesting, is that focusing on post-purchase customer experience could help increase profits by anything from 25% to 95% for eCommerce business.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Composer - php[world] 2015Joshua Warren
WordPress extensions, Drupal modules, Magento extensions — developers are building amazing features for each platform. But what if, instead of building platform-specific features, we built reusable packages? All of our platforms can be used with Composer — Magento 2 is even fully installable via Composer & developers can pull in specific Magento components to non-Magento projects, as well. However, we still write extensions for our platform & don't write reusable PHP packages. Let's look at how we all benefit by changing this mindset and how to start writing reusable cross-platform packages.
Magento 2 Dependency Injection, Interceptors, and You - php[world] 2015Joshua Warren

‘Work-life balance’ is touted in job postings everywhere - but what does it really mean? If you’re a passionate developer that’s excited about the technology you work with every day, you probably spend a fair bit of time outside of the office doing something that looks a lot like what you do at work. Even if you’re excited about your work, it’s important to find ways to rest, recharge and disconnect periodically. After spending 6 years building a team of passionate developers, I’ve learned that everyone approaches work-life balance differently, with vastly different results.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. The only agency in the southwest to complete an Order Management
implementation, as well as a number of other distinctions
4. Why We’re Here Today
Customers don’t shop like they did 10 years ago
Most stores still provide the same basic experience as 10 years ago
Your customers will leave and drive you out of business
5. Avoiding Commerce Extinction
October 2017, I gave a presentation titled ‘Avoiding Commerce Extinction:
Lessons from Retail Dinosaurs’
Focused on 7 very large, established retailers - like Toys R Us
Since October, five of the seven are out of business
The remaining 2 closed a combined total of over 1,00 stores to survive
6. Key Takeaways from the Retail Dinosaurs
Have the technology to move fast
Fully commit to the changes you make
Meet consumers on their terms
7. Let’s Look at a Retailer That Gets It
Rural King
110 stores and growing at a rate of 20 new stores per year
Amazing, sustainable growth across all key metrics both online & in-store
Buying up failed big box store buildings and succeeding in them
9. It’s All About the Customer
Provide the right product the right way at the right time
Drive cost-savings in both operational efficiencies and in shipping costs
Make it easier for customers to find what they want and buy it quickly
10. The Existing Challenges
Inventory data is stored in 3 different systems, one of which is a decades-old
version of Epicor Eagle.
Multiple different shipping systems & fulfillment processes
Too many vendors and systems, most of which didn’t communicate
11. The Customer Experience, Pre-Launch
Tens of thousands of products weren’t selling due to poor manufacturer-provided
product data that was never improved
Two separate websites selling different aspects of the product catalog
No simple way to shop from a mobile device - not even responsive
12. Customer Experience Possibilities
Rural King has a network of hundreds of suppliers
Their own fleet of trucks providing daily fulfillment runs to every store
Stores positioned strategically through the Midwest and Florida
13. Fly the coop!
‘Extreme Chicken Barn’
599 pounds
9’ x 12’
Previously required freight shipping
Now available to pick up free at any
Rural King store through a fully
automated process
15. This Isn’t a One Person Project
Such a large transformation required a complete overhaul and replacement of
numerous systems
Creatuity recommended best in class solutions for each need identified by
Rural King
We relied heavily on these partners to successfully transform Rural King’s
business
16. Some of the Partners We Involved
Magento Commerce Cloud, Magento Order Manager
Akeneo Product Information Manager
ShipStation for Shipping Automation
PayPal for their PayPal Express Checkout flow
17. Technology Selection Criteria
Technologies with a strong foundation that still allowed room for customization
High ROI through improved efficiencies as well as reasonable platform pricing
Proven in other projects
18. What This Group Accomplished
For less than the cost to implement just the ecommerce functionality of competing
enterprise commerce platforms, we completed and deployed:
Modern ecommerce experience
Product information manager
Highly automated omnichannel fulfillment
In nine months
20. Simplified, Automated Product Creation
New products available from each supplier are added to the system
automatically via LogicBroker
Those products are added to Akeneo automatically, where a merchandiser
reviews and approves them
Approved products then flow automatically to the website, complete with
inventory information
21. Improved Product Assortment
By automating product creation and managing inventory and order routing,
Rural King is able to reach their goal of expanding their product assortment
10X
Magento Business Intelligence integration helps with fast reporting to
determine which areas of the product assortment should be expanded next
22. Improved Time to Market
Once a product is added to Akeneo, it can appear on the website in as little as
15 minutes
Inventory values on the website are refreshed continuously
When a store receives a shipment of a product, that inventory is available for
purchase online within 15 minutes
23. Improved Delivery Options
Customers can have their orders shipped to them, or pick them up locally
Customers see exactly how many of each product are available based on their
delivery option, which can account for supplier, store and warehouse
inventories
Magento Order Manager obtains products from suppliers via dropshipping or
scheduled fulfillment runs, completely automatically
24. Improved Shipping Processes
Instead of fulfilling from one or two centralized warehouses, orders route to the
store nearest the customer
This allows low-cost shipping methods to be used while still providing next-day
delivery that customers expect
When a customer has an urgent need for an item, they can pick it up same day
from their local store
25. Improved Store Associate Experience
Store associates can look up a customer’s order, no matter the type, and
provide the latest status
Tablet-friendly interfaces for all ship-from-store, store pickup and order status
functions make it easy for store associates to learn the system
Thanks to ShipStation being integrated directly into Order Manager, shipping
labels are produced with a single click - no carrier software needed
26. Improved Warehouse Experience
Eliminated all remaining paper processes
Warehouse can click one button to indicate an inventory error and reroute the
order to another warehouse or store automatically, replacing a call to a
manager and customer service
27. Improved Customer Experience
No need to call the store to check inventory levels
Order tracking information updates instantaneously, no matter if the order is
shipped by a warehouse, a store or a supplier
Customers can place a single order for delivery via multiple methods and track
it all via one combined order number
28. Agile Foundation for Improvements
All of the previous items were completed in the initial nine month
implementation
We’re already on to the next round of features
Further blending and blurring the online and in-store experience through things
like buy-online, pay-in-store
29. What It’s All About
Have the technology to move fast
Fully commit to the changes you make
Meet consumers on their terms
31. Gather a Team
Gather a team internally across all departments - store operations, fulfillment,
merchandising, web/IT
Engage a company experienced with the platforms you select
Plan to spend a week together mapping out systems, processes and workflows
32. Expect the Unexpected
Inventory challenges, inaccurate product data, slow legacy systems - this
project will expose them all
View this as an opportunity to identify further improvements
33. Build Internal Excitement & Training
Several months before the completion of the project, showcase the new site
internally
Allow everyone, especially store associates, time to become familiar with the
new systems
34. Learn from Our Experience
Don’t hesitate to ask questions, today or in the future, of me or anyone on the
Creatuity team about our experience with these omnichannel transformations
We routinely do things that no one has ever done before, and love to share our
experience and knowledge from these projects
If you’re local, come to one of our Dallas Ecommerce meetups to learn more as
