The tittle of the study is “Sleep, Memory, and Aging: The Link between Slow-Wave Sleep and Episodic Memory Changes from Younger to Older Adults” written by Michael K. Scullin. It aims to uncover the relationship between slow wave sleep and the ability of humans to retain memory. Slow wave sleep is the deep sleep that occurs during non-rapid eye movement. It is called slow wave sleep because at this stage of slumber, the brain electrical activity is synchronized with slow waves of low frequency. Previous research has proven that slow wave sleep is crucial to the retaining of memory but until now, the dynamics of this relationship was not clear(Scullin, 2013).
In conducting the research, the researcher is trying to determine the correlation between slow wave sleep, memory retention, and aging. The author of the research aims to link together these three seemingly distinct variables and create a conceptual theory that explains how aging memory and deep sleep are related. The researcher asks a series of questions that help to guide the research process. These questions are, is there a correlation between short weave sleep in humans and memory consolidation? If so how significant is this relationship, is short wave sleep crucial to the memory consolidation process? The researchers then measure the amount of short wave sleep that young and old adults get. They compare this information with the increasing reduction in the ability to retain memory, as adults grow older and attempt to make a connection to the lesser amounts of short wave sleep that older adults get(Scullin, 2013).
Qualitative research is exploratory research conducted to gain an understanding of the underlying reasons of a problem. Qualitative research aims to provide a detailed description of the research process. Qualitative research is usually conducted a precursor to quantitative research.
Quantitative data aims to quantify the problem by generating numerical data. This data is then converted to useful statistics. Quantitative research is used to quantify behaviors, opinions, attitudes among numerous other variables. The mandate of quantitative research is to provide a clearer picture using statistical methods. A quantitative researcher uses tool such as surveys, questionnaires, and measurements.
The research conducted by Michael K. Scullin is quantitative in nature. In his research, he aims to uncover the relationship between slow wave sleep and memory by measuring sleep patterns and memory retention abilities of adults. Among the measurement taken are, time spent sleeping, age and ability to recall memory. Throughout the ages, research has been crucial to the scientific and technological advancement of humanity. Research enables us to open new frontiers and to devise new applications. The general motives of research are to solve existing or new problems, reaffirm the results of previous work, confirm facts, develop theories, and support theorems among other reasons. There are many different methods of conducting research. This differentiation is necessitated by the need to have distinct ways of collecting and analyzing information. Generally, research methods fall into two categories, qualitative research, and quantitative research.
Qualitative research is primarily an exploratory form of research. Researchers use qualitative research in order to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts, opinions, reasons, and motivations surrounding the issue under research. Qualitative research helps to provide insight about the problem and enables one to develop relevant hypotheses. Qualitative research is usually conducted as a precursor to quantitative research. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the topic at hand, qualitative research uses structured and semi structured data collection methods.

A disorder known to impact cognition is psychosis. Thus, it is essential to examine psychosis and how these psychotic experiences effect cognitive functioning over time.

How does psychosis effect cognitive functioning over time in patients who have experienced first-episode psychosis?

Psychosis is a mental state in which individuals experience a loss of touch with reality(Boychuk, Lysaght, & Stuart, 2018). Psychosis may lead to additional occurrences or may indicate signs of a mental health disorder. It is important to examine the cognitive impairment that is caused as a result of psychotic episodes. In addition, this would unfold information that may lead to the importance of treating psychosis when the first signs are noticed in hopes of decreasing the chances of psychosis leading to a mental disorder.

Zaytseva, Korsokava, Agius, & Gurovich (2013) and Bora & Murray (2014) discovered altered cognitive functioning exists prior to onset or before the prodrome stage. In addition, Bohus & Miclutia (2014) indicate that cognitive functioning at first-episode psychosis was not as strong. Thus, it can be concluded that cognitive functioning impairment occurs prior to first-episode onset however, there is varying research that indicates the impact on cognitive functioning as time goes on. Popolo, Vinci, & Balbi (2010) conducted a year-long study on neurocognitive functioning amongst children and adolescent patients with first-episode psychosis. Cognitive impairment is indicated in early psychosis onset thus the study focused on examining cognitive impairments. Several cognitive assessments were given to patients and the results were evaluated. The results of the cognitive assessments indicated that adolescents with first-episode psychosis (FEP) have neurocognitive impairments. In addition, psychotic patient’s cognitive deficiencies do not decline over the course of the psychotic disorder. However, according to the article

There are many different types of research studies, and the type of study that is done depends very much on the research question. Some studies demand strictly numerical data, such as a comparison of GPA among different college majors or weight loss among different types of eating programs. Others require more in-depth data, like interview responses. For my final project I am choosing the environmental influences on personality particularly about childhood experiences and their effect on an individual’s personalities. I am contrasting childhood experiences that are caused by their environment to the effect on their personality, I will use the correlation research method. A questionnaire will be used in order to obtain the information I would need. This method would admit me to have a larger sample base, have a better image of the relationship, and numerous variables providing for better research circumstances down the road. The disadvantage to this technique would be, I would not have a personal relationship from those apart of the study and this could cause a lack of dishonesty. Second, establishing a questionnaire that was both dependable and accurate could be an issue. Lastly, I would only get a view at what those in the group went through.
Ethically, I would run into a problem of confidentiality and making sure all of the questionnaires were kept secret and those taking them were offered secrecy. Anyone who take part in the activity would be able to eliminate themselves from the research if they wanted to and if they left the documents it would be destroyed. I would maintain their best interest and would be real and honest with them regarding what the study is being used for and why it was being done. Still, because there isn’t a personal relationship but just general on this could be difficult to prove and cause doubt and that could be an ethical crisis.

Abstract
Is it possible to prevent suicidal influences by taking preemptive measures? According to last week’s research learning team A was able to identify mental illness, socioeconomic pressures, marital status, family history of suicide, and media influences as major contributions to our nation’s suicide rates. If preemptive measures are taken to minimize or address these influences then national suicide rates will decrease. Our groups hypotheses is as follows: If preemptive measures are implemented to minimize or address the following suicidal influences; mental illness, socioeconomic pressures, discontentment with marital status and family history of suicide then the national suicide rate will decrease. This paper will explain in detail the method by which we plan to conduct a study to prove our hypothesis.
Sampling Method
In psychology, the purpose for sampling is to collect data from a target population. A target population is a portion of the total population that is in possession of something of interest. For the research project of this group, the target population consists of individuals of all age’s races and classes who are associated with suicide: those who are undergoing the mentality of suicide, those who have a history of exhibiting suicidal behaviors and those who have attempted suicide. With this research’s sampling method, it is important to stray away from sampling bias. The sampling method that would be ideal versus convenient would be the following: volunteer sampling versus opportunity sampling. Sampling bias happens when the data does not reflect the target population (McLeod, 2014). An example of this would be of psychology studies where universities used an opportunity sampling method that only comprises of their students. diner, but for Emily Raine, who had done all of these things, the only place she ever felt “whipped” was
working as a barista at one of largest specialty coffee chains in the world (358). Raine is bothered by
how the café industry has set up the impersonal server/customer relationship and feels the best way to
solve the issue is be to “be rude” (365). In 2005, Raine expanded in an essay that appeared in the
online journal, Bad Subjects, on her frustration within the service industry and what good service really
means.
Good service in the coffee industry does not require much skill these days. Most people are
usually talking on their cell phone while ordering their daily coffee and pastry while also paying and then
out as fast as they walked into the café probably not even noticing or acknowledging any interaction
with the people serving. The coffee sector has recognized this and has set up the counters as linear
coffee bars that act the same as an assembly line. The workers are trained and assigned specific jobs in
the coffee preparing process, such as taking the order, handling the money, making the drink, to

This method would admit me to have a larger sample base, have a better image of the relationship, and numerous variables providing for better research circumstances down the road. The disadvantage to this technique would be, I would not have a personal relationship from those apart of the study and this could cause a lack of dishonesty. Second, establishing a questionnaire that was both dependable and accurate could be an issue. Lastly, I would only get a view at what those in the group went through.
Ethically, I would run into a problem of confidentiality and making sure all of the questionnaires were kept secret and those taking them were offered secrecy. Anyone who take part in the activity would be able to eliminate themselves from the research if they wanted to and if they left the documents it would be destroyed. I would maintain their best interest and would be real and honest with them regarding what the study is being used for and why it was being done. Still, because there isn’t a personal relationship but just general on this could be difficult to prove and cause doubt and that could be an ethical crisis.

Is it possible to prevent suicidal influences by taking preemptive measures? According to last week’s research learning team A was able to identify mental illness, socioeconomic pressures, marital status, family history of suicide, and media influences as major contributions to our nation’s suicide rates. If preemptive measures are taken to minimize or address these influences then national suicide rates will decrease. Our groups hypotheses is as follows: If preemptive measures are implemented to minimize or address the following suicidal influences; mental illness, socioeconomic pressures, discontentment with marital status and family history of suicide then the national suicide rate will decrease. This paper will explain in detail the method by which we plan to conduct a study to prove our hypothesis.

1.1 Introduction
1. Rectifiers are electrical devices that convert an AC supply into a DC output through a process known as rectification. The theory of rectification has been around for over one hundred years, when early discoveries uncovered the unidirectional current flow (polarity dependent) in vacuum valves and crystal (solid state) devices. These devices were known as rectifiers; however the naming convention was changed in 1919 to diode. The name diode was derived from the Greek words ‘dia’ (through) and ‘ode’ (path). Comment by adtaylor: I don’t really think this sort of thing is necessary: the project report is supposed to be on investigating these devices or technology, not its 100 year old history.

The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon an ethical issue that arose in my law firm. The paper discusses what happened, what the ethical issues were, how I felt at the time, how I went about dealing with these ethical issues including what ethical approach I subconsciously took, what caused me to take that approach and what ethical approach I would take if I was in the position again. I conclude with what I learnt from the reflective process.
In 2009 a lady, Fiona, and her grandfather, Paul, attended my law firm. Fiona said Paul and her grandmother, Mary, owned a house. They were worried that Fiona’s mother, Christine, (an apparent drug user) was going to try and force the grandparents into signing the house over to her and then evict the grandparents out of the house.
Fiona indicated they had mutually agreed that to protect the grandparents from the anticipated actions of Christine, the grandparents would gift the house to Fiona. Fiona, as owner of the house and presumably someone, whom Christine couldn’t stand over, would then let them stay in the house until they died.
Fiona told me that Mary was in hospital, very ill and slowly losing her mental capacity. They wanted the transfer of house to take place urgently. Based on what Fiona and Paul said, I drafted the necessary documents and the house was transferred into Fiona’s name.
There were three ethical issues. Firstly, should I accept the word of Fiona that Christine would try to force the grandparents out of the house; after all it could be Fiona herself who was out to deceive her grandparents.
Secondly, should I make enquiries about Mary’s mental capacity, perhaps even attend the hospital? However, as I was told this was an urgent matter, I prepared the documents immediately to be taken to Mary for signing.
Finally, should I have persuaded Fiona to get her own lawyer to avoid any conflict, after all I was there to look after the interests of the grandparents? Technology Based Education: How can theories of learning and/or development be used to guide the use of technology in schools?
Introduction
Twenty first century learning environment is no longer a goal, but an educational reality. We are deep into the midst of a paradigm shift that spans across our entire globe. The technology we live with as a society has exponentially grown at an increasingly rapid rate. This is illustrated from the integration of computers in every facet of our lives. This includes televisions, phones, cars, and even coffee makers which all contain a microprocessor, they all think. Even more startling is how connected we all are. Access to information is available at a finger’s touch. We can connect to people, we can shop, and ask for directions from anywhere at any time. We are tethered to the world by social media such as Facebook. Google has mapped out the entire earth. We can send a text message from the middle of Antarctica. Even more startling is how corporations and the government collects data as they track our ever movement as we go online. All this is reflected upon education, which mirrors this new 21st century society. No longer is the classroom isolated from the world, but it too is connected. Learning technology is critical more than ever because it impacts skills and productivity (Hall, 2011) for both the student and the teacher.
Background
Incorporating technology into the classroom has been around since computers were invented, but it has been only recently been the norm in the last few years. This revolution no more pointedly reflected in our education system, than it is today. Johri (2011) states that although digital information technologies in education has become commonplace, there are few guiding frameworks or theories that explains the relationship between technology and learning practices. Bennett and Oliver (2011) share that view. Research has focused on practical implementation versus the theory and application of the technology. They explained once theories are developed, a better understanding of effective technology based pedagogy would occur.
Technology in Education
I believe however, all the theorists play well with technology. Technology is merely a tool. Its strength is the ability to facilitate. John Dewey is a prime example. He believed in “learning by doing”. With an iPad there is an App where by students are able to see the stars and the constellation. With the use of satellites and GPS held within the piece of technology, students are able to view exact locations of stars. Where the iPad is directed in the sky, the stars would be in that location on the handheld screen, no telescope necessary. The students interact with the material to gain knowledge.
This is further illustrated by this second example. The best way to learn about Mayan pyramids is to actually visit one in Central America. With the use of laptops, students can connect to the Discove.

Effect of Technology on Enthusiasm for Learning Science

ABSTRACT
The effect of technology on students’ enthusiasm for learning science (both at school and
away from school) was investigated. Pre- and post-student and parent surveys, student and
parent written comments, and teacher observations were used to record changes in enthusi-
asm for learning science during a six-week study period.
In this study, I investigated how the integration of technology into my middle school
science curriculum would impact my students’ enthusiasm for learning science. Enthusiasm
for learning science can be defined as the students’ eagerness to participate in science activi-
ties in the classroom, as well as away from school. My motivation for focusing on technol-
ogy was twofold. First, I have had an interest in integrating technology into my students’
studies of science for some time. Secondly, the funding for technological equipment and
software recently became available. During the 1993–1994 school year, my school was
awarded a $115,000 incentive grant to purchase equipment and software and to train
teachers in the use of this software and technological equipment. One of the stipulations of
the grant was that the equipment and software must be for student use.
According to Calvert (1994), American education is a system searching for solutions.
Our children drop out, fail to sustain interest in learning, and perform below capacity. Some
have argued that television is the culprit. Others have argued that computers may be the
answer.
Today’s middle school students have grown up in a technological world with television,
electronic toys, video games, VCRs, cellular phones, and more. They are accustomed to
receiving and processing information through multi-sensory sources.
I wanted to bring technology into my classroom and incorporate it into my science
curriculum using multimedia computer presentations. Barbara ten Brink (1993) noted, “. . .
students look to us [teachers] to prepare them for an increasingly technological world.
Fortunately, with videodiscs, we are meeting the challenge by delivering curriculums in
ways that engage, motivate, and thrill our students.” In this study my students had an
opportunity to use assorted multimedia technology as they explored a segment of a middle
school science curriculum.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORKS
Learning is an extremely complex human process. During my twenty-four years of teaching
I have used many strategies to enhance student learning and to teach new concepts. I am still
not convinced that I thoroughly understand how children learn. Yet, at this point, I do
believe children learn through experiences. They build on past experiences and previous
knowledge to process new concepts. As children redefine old understandings of concepts

Case Study: Ft. Myers Home Sales
Due to a crisis in subprime lending, obtaining a mortgage has become difficult even for
people with solid credit. In a report by the Associated Press (August 25, 2007), sales of
existing homes fell for a 5th consecutive month, while home prices dropped for a record
12th month in July 2007. Mayan Horowitz, a research analyst for QuantExperts, wishes to
study how the mortgage crunch has impacted the once booming market of Florida. He
collects data on the sale price (in $1, 000s) of 25 single-family homes in Fort Myers,
Florida, in January 2007 and collects another sample in July 2007. For a valid
comparison, he samples only three bedroom homes, each with 1,500 square feet or less of
space on a lot size of 10, 000 square feet or less.

The steady stream of dismal housing market statistics lately is a clear indication that the national
real estate market is in a serious crisis. The uncertainty is also forcing lenders to slow down on
their lending, and as a result obtaining a mortgage is becoming increasingly difficult even for
people with solid credit. In light of this situation, Mayan Horowitz conducts a small study to
learn if the national trend also affects the once booming market of Florida by focusing on Fort
Myers, Florida. To see the trend of the housing market over a 6-month period, he obtains price of
25 single family homes in January 2007 and another comparable 25 single family homes in July
2007. Table 1 below shows the most relevant descriptive analysis.
The average home price in January of 2007 was $231, 080 versus $182, 720 in July of the same
year. That is about a 21% drop in the average home price. Also in January, half of the homes
sold for more than $205,000, versus only $180,000 in July (see the median). Since the mean is
more effected by outliers (in this case, a few relatively high prices), the median is an appropriate
measure of central location.
While measures of central location typically represent where the data clusters, these measures do
not relay information about the variability in the data. Both the standard deviation and the
coefficient of variation are higher in January indicating that home prices were more dispersed in
January. Further, while 25% of the houses were sold at the price of $158, 000 or less in Janua.

The tittle of the study is “Sleep, Memory, and Aging: The
Link between Slow-Wave Sleep and Episodic Memory Changes
from Younger to Older Adults” written by Michael K. Scullin. It
aims to uncover the relationship between slow wave sleep and
the ability of humans to retain memory. Slow wave sleep is the
deep sleep that occurs during non-rapid eye movement. It is
called slow wave sleep because at this stage of slumber, the
brain electrical activity is synchronized with slow waves of low
frequency. Previous research has proven that slow wave sleep is
crucial to the retaining of memory but until now, the dynamics
of this relationship was not clear(Scullin, 2013).
In conducting the research, the researcher is trying to
determine the correlation between slow wave sleep, memory
2. retention, and aging. The author of the research aims to link
together these three seemingly distinct variables and create a
conceptual theory that explains how aging memory and deep
sleep are related. The researcher asks a series of questions that
help to guide the research process. These questions are, is there
a correlation between short weave sleep in humans and memory
consolidation? If so how significant is this relationship, is short
wave sleep crucial to the memory consolidation process? The
researchers then measure the amount of short wave sleep that
young and old adults get. They compare this information with
the increasing reduction in the ability to retain memory, as
adults grow older and attempt to make a connection to the lesser
amounts of short wave sleep that older adults get(Scullin,
2013).
Qualitative research is exploratory research conducted to
gain an understanding of the underlying reasons of a problem.
Qualitative research aims to provide a detailed description of
the research process. Qualitative research is usually conducted a
precursor to quantitative research.
Quantitative data aims to quantify the problem by
generating numerical data. This data is then converted to useful
statistics. Quantitative research is used to quantify behaviors,
opinions, attitudes among numerous other variables. The
mandate of quantitative research is to provide a clearer picture
using statistical methods. A quantitative researcher uses tool
such as surveys, questionnaires, and measurements.
The research conducted by Michael K. Scullin is
quantitative in nature. In his research, he aims to uncover the
relationship between slow wave sleep and memory by measuring
sleep patterns and memory retention abilities of adults. Among
the measurement taken are, time spent sleeping, age and ability
to recall memory. In order to test the ability to recall memory
the participants were given word pair combination to memorize
before sleep. They were quizzed on these word pair
combinations after waking from slow wave sleep(Scullin, 2013).
The research conducted by Michael K. Scullin relates to the
3. field of sleep phycology. Sleep Psychology aims to understand
how sleep affects psychological patterns. This is in order to be
able to treat and diagnose sleep disorders. Sleep psychology
addresses psychological, physiological, and behavioral factors
that underpin disordered and normal sleep patterns across the
lifespan of a human. The field of Sleep Psychology is
committed to providing evidence‐based psychological
approaches to the treatment and cure of sleep disorders.
Overall, the research paper does not consider ethics. The
whole sum of the text does not contain the word ethics.
Regardless ethics is crucial to any research attempts. The
researcher should have considered the ethical treatment of the
research subject and not used them as disposable guinea pigs.
Careful consideration should be given to the human rights of the
research subjects.

Research is work undertaken in a systematic basis in
order to gain deeper understanding about a subject. The scope
of subjects that can be researched is only limited by the Human
imagination. Throughout the ages, research has been crucial to
the scientific and technological advancement of humanity.
Research enables us to open new frontiers and to devise new
applications. The general motives of research are to solve
existing or new problems, reaffirm the results of previous work,
confirm facts, develop theories, and support theorems among
other reasons. There are many different methods of conducting
research. This differentiation is necessitated by the need to have
5. distinct ways of collecting and analyzing information.
Generally, research methods fall into two categories, qualitative
research, and quantitative research.
Qualitative research is primarily an exploratory form of
research. Researchers use qualitative research in order to gain a
deeper understanding of the underlying concepts, opinions,
reasons, and motivations surrounding the issue under research.
Qualitative research helps to provide insight about the problem
and enables one to develop relevant hypotheses. Qualitative
research is usually conducted as a precursor to quantitative
research. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the topic at
hand, qualitative research uses structured and semi structured
data collection methods.
Quantitative research is another method of conducting
research. This research method is concerned with generating
numerical data, which is then used to create statistical
information from which inference is gained. Quantitative
research quantifies the opinions, behaviors, attitudes, and other
defined variables. The main objective of quantitative research is
the quantification of data.
Within qualitative and qualitative research, there are
certain crucial concepts that apply to both methods of research.
The predictor variable is the variable that is manipulated by
researchers in order to observe its effects on the dependent
variable. The predictor variable is important in an experimental
research, the researcher gains inference on the nature of the
research problem by directly changing the predictor variable.
Thus, the results of this type of research are the changes
observed in the dependent variable. In a non-experimental
research, the researcher does not attempt to control the
predictor variable. Instead, the nature of the relationship
between the predictor and the dependent variable is obtained
from observation and interpretation.
The first peer-reviewed journal on research methods
pertains quantitative research it was published in the modern
6. language journal in 2014. The journal article aims to build on a
growing line of inquiry into quantitative methodologies in
conducting research about second language. The article analyzes
two previous research papers conducted and shows how to apply
quantitative methods to the data collected in the previous
researches. The article further posits that quantitative research
helps researcher to derive further inference on the data they
collect. The research design used in the article is quantitative. It
quantifies data from the previous research conducted. As the
journal article only analyses the data from previous work done,
the authors do not manipulate any variables and thus the
research design is non-experimental. The aim of the article is to
provide clarity on the nature of quantitative research (Gass &
Plonsky, 2011).
The second peer-reviewed source is also concerned with
quantitative research. It is an empirical assessment of the
methodological quality in the acquisition of second languages.
The article posits that there is a strong correlation between the
quality of a research and the results. A research conducted in
the proper manner will yield proper results and vice versa. The
journal article was written after an extensive analysis of 7951
research subjects. The researchers took a quantitative approach
to tackling the research topic. The researchers simply tabulated
the results into statistically significant information (Plonsky,
2014). The research design was non-experimental, as the
researchers did not manipulate the predictor variable. The
motive of this particular research was to provide direction to
future research practices.
The third peer-reviewed source is titled, Definitions and
Predictors of Successful Aging: A Comprehensive Review of
Larger Quantitative Studies. The article is a review of previous
Quantitative researchers conducted on the nature of aging in the
American population. The researcher analyzed peer-reviewed
reports of data studies about adults over age 60. The researchers
then categorized the independent variables in the previous
reports. The researchers found that the mean proportion of
7. adults who are aging successfully is 35.8% (Depp & Jeste,
2006). The researchers actively collected information from the
previous reports, which they organized into meaningful
statistical information. The nature of their operation suggests
that it was a quantitative research. As the researchers were
obtaining their information from a secondary source of
information, their chosen research design is non-experimental.
The aim of the journal article is to analyze quantitatively,
information about aging adults in order to determine how habits
such as smoking affect successful aging.
The second batch of peer-reviewed articles are concerned
with qualitative research methods, the first source is a treatise
on the nature of qualitative research. It states that qualitative
research should be divided into three stages. The first stage is
the design cycle, in this stage research question are formulated,
literature is reviewed, theories are incorporated and a
conceptual framework for conducting the research is created.
The second stage is the ethnographic cycle; this stage describes
the core tasks of the qualitative research. The final stage of all
qualitative research exercises is the analytic exercise cycle, in
this stage the researchers analyze the data that they have
collected in previous stages. The approach that the authors have
taken in tackling the subject matter is qualitative. The authors,
through their work, aim to impart the proper qualitative
research methodologies. This will help future researchers who
wish to gain a deeper understanding of qualitative research
(Hennink, Hutter, & Bailey, 2011).
The second article concerned with qualitative research is
titled, the foundation of qualitative research practice. In it, the
authors outline the philosophical underpinnings of qualitative
research. The authors of the book claim that there is no singular
way of conducting qualitative research and as such, they only
provide general guidance. The authors further state qualitative
research is especially suited to social science researchers (Jane
Ritchie, Nicholls, & Ormston, 2014). In elaborating research
methodologies, the authors follow a qualitative approach. There
8. are numerous different research examples given by the authors.
They use a combination of experimental and non-experimental
research designs in order to highlight the versatility of
qualitative research. Like the first source on qualitative
methodology, this source also provides guidance on qualitative
research.
The third peer-reviewed source on qualitative research is
titled the elephant in the living room, extending the
conversation about the politics of evidence. It is an attempt by
the authors to establish the importance of qualitative
methodology in the evidence based research movement. It states
that standards for the evaluation of quality are interpretive
practices that should follow the rules of qualitative research
(Denzin, 2009). The author has taken a non-experimental
approach. The aim of the author is to provide ethical and moral
criteria for judging qualitative research.
