Weaver from Oklahoma State University. According to the authors "the purpose of the present study
was to determine if sleep deprivation and/or poor sleep quality in a sample of non–depressed
university students was associated with lower academic performance" (Gilbert, Cameron. 295).
The study was also made to determine the relationship between sleep deprivation, sleep quality, and
academic performance (Gilbert, Cameron. 298). It was hypothesized that by the end of the study,
participants who had higher levels of sleep deprivation and poorer sleep quality would have lower
academic performance (as indicated by grade point average [GPA] and course incompletions–drops,
withdrawals, and incompletes) than participants with little sleep deprivation and good sleep quality
(Gilbert, Cameron. 298). By the end of the study, the authors discussed the results in the following
narration: To our knowledge, this is the first study to have found a relationship between poor sleep
quality and lower academic performance using a large sample size and, importantly, for
nondepressed students alone (controlling for depression). The significant negative correlation
between GSQ score and GPA supports our initial hypothesis that poor sleep quality is associated with
lower academic performance for nondepressed students. This hypothesis is also supported by the
finding that in our subject population nondepressed students with clinically poor sleep quality had
significantly lower GPAs than

Identify the most appropriate study design for the research proposal you are Planning to develop. A
study design is the procedure that guides a researcher on how to collect, analyze and interpret
observations. It is a logical model that guides the investigator while he navigates through the various
stages of the research. Study types can be classified severally depending on the research strategy
employed. A study type can be non–interventional that is 'observational' where a researcher just
observes and analyses researchable objects or situations without intervening. Non–interventional
study designs can be exploratory, descriptive or comparative. A study can also be...show more

Collection is a vital aspect of any type of research study. Erroneous data collection can impact the
results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. Data collection methods for impact
evaluation vary along a scale. At the one end of this scale are quantitative methods and at the other
end of the scale are Qualitative methods for data collection. Choosing a particular data collection
method will depend on the accuracy of information they will yield and the practical considerations,
such as, the need for personnel, time, equipment and other facilities, in relation to what is available
Quantitative Collection Methods Quantitative data collection involves the use of numbers to assess
information. This information can then be evaluated using statistical analysis which offers
researchers the opportunity to dig deeper into the data and look for greater meaning. The
Quantitative data collection methods rely on random sampling and structured data collection

Phenomenology and Architecture Essay
Introduction
Phenomenology can be deemed to be both an unambiguous academic research field and a theoretical
design current within contemporary architecture and is usually founded on one's experience of the
materials used in construction inclusive of their sensory characteristics. In this regard, architecture is
the impetus towards transformation and inspiration of an individual's daily existence. Unlike other
forms of art, architecture employs the immediacy of an individual's sensory perception. The complete
architectural experience is dependent on many factors such as details, materials, texture, color
phenomena, transparency and shadows, time passage, etc. There is the huge phenomenon that
phenomenology does not exist in...show more content...

Time and Solitude
Silence is another element that can be married strongly with solitude and time. Tranquility is known
to be the most vital auditory experience that is created by architecture. Architecture is known for the
presentation of construction drama silenced into matter and space besides gaining definition as the
art of terrifying silence . External noise is known to be silenced by architectural experience as it
centers interest on an individual's very own existence. Like any other existing form of art,
architecture ensures that an individual is enlightened about fundamental solitude. At one fell swoop,
architecture plays the role of isolating individuals from the present situation and permits the
individual in this particular scenario to the firm and slow flow of tradition and time. Cities and
buildings can also be museums and instruments of time. They also aid us in the observation and
comprehension of history's transition. Architecture also plays the role of linking individuals to the
dead; via the built environment individuals are able to picture the somber procession a moving
towards a church and the activities within the medieval street. Architectural time is usually detained

Introduction
Development of an individual economy passes through different economic phases. Sometimes it is
booming and sometimes it suffers from recession. This phenomenon can be viewed as projection of
consumption and investment strategies of the individuals and the government of the country.
Interest rate, being a major factor of economics, plays a great role in economic activities carried out
by nation and the nationalities. A change in interest rates may affect other factors of the economy.
For instance, investment strategies of the investors, consumption strategies of the individuals,
foreign exchange, imports, exports etc. are affected by the interest rates. An increase in interest rates

Individuals spend more today when they expectation to earn more in future for a longer time. This
means individuals' consumption pattern is determined by their permanent income not by their
current income and the permanent income is determined by the permanent asset. Robert Hall (1978),
'Random walk model of consumption' explains that the consumption is unpredictable since it only
changes when there is surprising news about the income.
GDP, an indicator of prosperity of the economy, is also determined by the imports and exports.
Imports and exports are influenced by the exchange rates and the interest rate causes fluctuation in
the exchange rates. When the exchange rate appreciates or depreciates, the relative prices of imports
and exports change; biz/ed (n.d.). This means interest rate has a significant influence in the imports
and exports.

Do you know the similarities and differences between a funding proposal and a research proposal?
According to the website learnerassociates.net/proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to
help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social
service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your
research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the next steps will be for the project. There
are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal.
A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or
it's the first step in getting approval to write a doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course
assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the
significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only
understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not include an abstract before the
introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or
you can create a separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal.
This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe in detail why it's important.
Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as
much about the research problem as you do. Note

The term "mentoring" has surged into the literature in many disciplines (e.g., sociology, social
psychology, education, management, social work, healthcare management, etc.) over the last several
decades. Mentoring emerged in the organizational literature in the late 1970s (e.g., Clawson, 1979;
Collins and Scott, 1978; Kanter, 1977; Phillips, 1977; Roche, 1979; Shapiro et al., 1978). Since that
time, hundreds of books and articles (popular press, practitioner–oriented, and academic) have been
published on mentoring in various organizational settings alone, not to mention other settings in
which mentoring has been examined (e.g., teaching, nursing, social work, etc.) (Kelly, 2001).
Published works in the organizational literature on mentoring have been anecdotal, conceptual, and
empirical; and several journals have dedicated special editions to mentoring. By and large, these
published works have highlighted the overwhelming perceived benefits (e.g., increased mobility,
promotion opportunity, and total compensation), and minimal perceived drawbacks of mentoring
(Campion and Goldfinch, 1983; Kelly, 2001; Scandura, 1992, 1998; Whitely et al., 1991, 1992).
Hence, mentoring has been proclaimed as one of the key career development and advancement tools

Thesis On Intersectionality
1.5. Intersectionality
For the purpose of this thesis, the term, intersectioanlity will be discussed in this subchapter.
Intersectionality, a feminist sociological theory, is a term coined by a famous researcher KimberlГ©
Crenshaw in her essay entitled Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A Black Feminist
Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and Antiracist Politics (1989). The notion
is connected with different forms of oppressions experienced simultaneously by African American
women. In her essay, Crenshaw compares discrimination to traffic. She states that women can be
victims of discrimination and its consequences that may come from many directions, which she
called in her research as an intersection of gender,...show more content...
Yet, Crenshaw admits, "it is not always easy to reconstruct an accident" (1991). The reason behind
this statement is a need to categorize the two dimensions of racism and sexism because the two terms
are closely intertwined. And "the intersectional experience", according to Crenshaw, "is greater than
the sum of racism and sexism, any analysis that does not take intersectionality into account cannot
sufficiently address the particular manner in which Black women are subordinated" (1991). The
scholar argues a black woman has an intersectional identity because of two key factors: she is woman
and she is black which shape her life from the very beginning and, more importantly, she may be
marginalized within them. Crenshaw divides intersectionality into three main categories (1991). The
first, structural intersetionality refers to the experiences of black women in terms of domestic
violence. Crenshew states at this point that there are many women of color who are excluded from
their societies in terms of education and work. Apart from that, they often become victims of the
class oppression and hierarchy that situate them at the bottom of the community structure. The
second, political intersectionality depicts a problem with violence against women who are often
marginalized. According to Crenshaw, it stems from the fact that women of color are often torn
between political groups presenting conflicting agendas. On the one hand, they still have to opt for
their rights as women in the male–dominated world and, on the other hand, they have to confront
themselves with white women. At this point, the intersectionality between race and gender is
visible. The third, representational intersectionality is directly related to the representation of black
women in a culture that is often biased and,

Dissertation Proposal: An investigation of empathy and social problem solving among different
bullying groups: A study of male prisoners.
A. Formulation of Research Question
'What works' research suggests that cognitive behavioural interventions produce the most effective
recidivism results among offender populations. Therefore, it would be just to suggest that this type
of intervention would be beneficial when reducing bullying and victimisation within the same
population.
Cognitive deficits that are related to offending attitudes and behaviour include social problem
solving (Freedman, Rosenthal, Donahoe, Schlindt and McFall, 1978), and empathy (Covell and
Scalora, 2002) among others.
As bullying is an interaction with...show more content...
However, because direct/indirect forms of bullying are being measured the full purpose of the study
will be explained when debriefing occurs; immediately proceeding tests to reduce any emotional
stress that may have occurred. Lastly participants will have the opportunity to receive research
summaries and will be given details of how to obtain these.
F. Analysis
A percentage of results will be used to check accuracy via inputting means, standard deviations and
minimum and maximum scoring of questionnaires, ensuring missing values are categorised
correctly. Missing value analysis will be used to identify any trends and managed appropriately. If
outliers are identified, transformation, alteration or deletion will commence. The skew and kurtosis
will be tested for significance. Tests for homogeneity of variance will be performed and managed
appropriately. Descriptive statistics will be obtained followed by between–subjects analyses e.g.
ANOVA or MANOVA.
G. Critique
To avoid discrimination on illiteracy grounds, participants will complete study material in individual
interviews. This may have an impact upon honesty as participants may be guarded when expressing
truthfulness because of fears of repercussions. This can be overcome by giving appropriate
information packs and offering individual time outside of interviews. This method would also
alleviate victims and bullies completing study material in group settings, thus avoiding

In an organization, in order to achieve its goal, required a good management concept when assessing
their performance. Fundamentally, a good management within an organization is a management that
conducts efficiency and effectiveness (Gish, 2016). In the same way, efficiency in an organization
will be useless if they fail to achieve its objectives due to ineffectiveness. Similarly, an effective
management will also be worthless if they are inefficient. In today 's world, we may see many
effective organization but some of them are still not efficient. Even though effective and efficient
have the same goal of improving organizational performance, each of them has a different value.
Therefore, this essay will identify the definition of efficient and effective, the differences between
these two elements, and the writer's opinion regarding to the importance of efficiency and
effectiveness.
In general, a successful organization is an organization, which is effective and efficient. According
to Robbins & Coulter (2016), efficiency is a measure of the level of resource use in a process to get
the most output with the least resources time and effort. In other words, being efficient simply
means reducing the amount of wasted inputs. All organizations should be efficient because all inputs
such as time and money are limited. Efficient process marked by improvement process so that it
becomes cheaper and faster (Smith, 2016). For instance, suppose an organization communicate more

Essay on Gerrymandering
English 1101
January 22, 2014
Gerrymandering
Gerrymandering is defined as the establishment of boundaries of voting districts with the main
objective of determining the partial or complete outcome of elections. Gerrymanders are designed
with the main objective of insuring the defeat of specific individuals or electing political allies.
There are a number of objectives of gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is usually carried out in order
to allow for the reelection of incumbents or for the party in power to win more seats in an election
than the number to which its percentage of the total vote properly entitles it. This only serves to
subvert the will of the people since it denies them the amount of voting power that they are entitled

The resulting districts are normally referred to as gerrymanders and they are composed of
pro–incumbents and partisans. Partisan gerrymandering involves the redrawing of political lines in
order to favor a given political party. Incumbent gerrymandering involves the redrawing of
boundaries in a bipartisan manner that is aimed at benefiting the incumbents on both sides of the
aisle (Snider 2012).
The gerrymandering process allows the majority party within a given state to maximize the number
of seats it can win in the future elections. This leads it into creating as many districts as possible
where it constitutes the majority. By doing this, those who support the minority parties are packed
into the remaining few districts. This results in more electoral security for the minority party and
less electoral security for the members of the minority parties. It also produces greater homogeneity
within the districts while reducing competition for the house seats. Apart from the positive effects of
gerrymandering, there are a number of negative effects associated with partisan gerrymandering.
This process results in more competitive districts when compared to the non competitive districts and
this in turn ambiguously affects polarization. Partisan gerrymandering also affects the state
legislative electoral competitiveness as it has severe partisan biases. Excessive partisan
gerrymandering is the violation of the equal protection clause since it consigns the

typically true of drama, however verbatim theatre is contrary to this as it forces it audiences to

Trophy Hunting Essay
Trophy hunting is the selective hunting of wild game for human recreation. Every year, thousands
of wild animals are killed to be obtained as a prize and to be showcased. Instead of being treated as
living beings in nature, they are treated as materialistic objects by humans. Endangered species are
the ones who are greatly being affected by those who are trying to obtain them. Trophy hunting is
most well known for its practices in African countries and ties to North America. Since the 1800s,
trophy hunting has brought about social, political, and economic issues that extend beyond the
American borders. Animals are a key component to their ecosystem. It is because of trophy hunting

their hunting produces economic and conservation benefit. Trophy hunting brings in some capital to

I.Learning a.Memory b.Lack of attention II.Safety a.Fatigue b.Decision making Sleep is one of the unavoidable daily–living activities and it is one of the most important factors contributing to a person's health. A quality sleep is essential for the physical, cognitive and psychological well–being of a person. According to the authors "the purpose of the present study was to determine if sleep deprivation and/or poor sleep quality in a sample of non–depressed university students was associated with lower academic performance" (Gilbert, Cameron. 295). The study was also made to determine the relationship between sleep deprivation, sleep quality, and academic performance (Gilbert, Cameron. 298). It was hypothesized that by the end of the study, participants who had higher levels of sleep deprivation and poorer sleep quality would have lower academic performance (as indicated by grade point average [GPA] and course incompletions–drops, withdrawals, and incompletes) than participants with little sleep deprivation and good sleep quality (Gilbert, Cameron. 298). By the end of the study, the authors discussed the results in the following narration: To our knowledge, this is the first study to have found a relationship between poor sleep quality and lower academic performance using a large sample size and, importantly, for nondepressed students alone (controlling for depression). The significant negative correlation between GSQ score and GPA supports our initial hypothesis that poor sleep quality is associated with lower academic performance for nondepressed students. This hypothesis is also supported by the finding that in our subject population nondepressed students with clinically poor sleep quality had significantly lower GPAs than Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A study design is the procedure that guides a researcher on how to collect, analyze and interpret observations. It is a logical model that guides the investigator while he navigates through the various stages of the research. Study types can be classified severally depending on the research strategy employed. Describe the various data collection techniques and state their uses and limitations. Data Collection is a vital aspect of any type of research study. Erroneous data collection can impact the results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. Data collection methods for impact evaluation vary along a scale. At the one end of this scale are quantitative methods and at the other end of the scale are Qualitative methods for data collection. Choosing a particular data collection method will depend on the accuracy of information they will yield and the practical considerations, such as, the need for personnel, time, equipment and other facilities, in relation to what is available Quantitative Collection Methods Quantitative data collection involves the use of numbers to assess information. This information can then be evaluated using statistical analysis which offers researchers the opportunity to dig deeper into the data and look for greater meaning. The Quantitative data collection methods rely on random sampling and structured data collection instruments that fit varied experiences Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In this regard, architecture is the impetus towards transformation and inspiration of an individual's daily existence. Unlike other forms of art, architecture employs the immediacy of an individual's sensory perception. The complete architectural experience is dependent on many factors such as details, materials, texture, color phenomena, transparency and shadows, time passage, etc. There is the huge phenomenon that phenomenology does not exist in...show more content... External noise is known to be silenced by architectural experience as it centers interest on an individual's very own existence. According to the website learnerassociates.net/proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the next steps will be for the project. There are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal. A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or it's the first step in getting approval to write a doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not include an abstract before the introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or you can create a separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal. This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe in detail why it's important. Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as much about the research problem as you do. Note Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The term "mentoring" has surged into the literature in many disciplines (e.g., sociology, social psychology, education, management, social work, healthcare management, etc.) over the last several decades. Mentoring emerged in the organizational literature in the late 1970s (e.g., Clawson, 1979; Collins and Scott, 1978; Kanter, 1977; Phillips, 1977; Roche, 1979; Shapiro et al., 1978). Since that time, hundreds of books and articles (popular press, practitioner–oriented, and academic) have been published on mentoring in various organizational settings alone, not to mention other settings in which mentoring has been examined (e.g., teaching, nursing, social work, etc.) (Kelly, 2001). Published works in the organizational literature on mentoring have been anecdotal, conceptual, and empirical; and several journals have dedicated special editions to mentoring. By and large, these published works have highlighted the overwhelming perceived beneп¬Ѓts (e.g., increased mobility, promotion opportunity, and total compensation), and minimal perceived drawbacks of mentoring (Campion and Goldп¬Ѓnch, 1983; Kelly, 2001; Scandura, 1992, 1998; Whitely et al., 1991, 1992). The notion is connected with different forms of oppressions experienced simultaneously by African American women. In her essay, Crenshaw compares discrimination to traffic. She states that women can be victims of discrimination and its consequences that may come from many directions, which she called in her research as an intersection of gender,...show more content... Yet, Crenshaw admits, "it is not always easy to reconstruct an accident" (1991). The reason behind this statement is a need to categorize the two dimensions of racism and sexism because the two terms are closely intertwined. And "the intersectional experience", according to Crenshaw, "is greater than the sum of racism and sexism, any analysis that does not take intersectionality into account cannot sufficiently address the particular manner in which Black women are subordinated" (1991). The scholar argues a black woman has an intersectional identity because of two key factors: she is woman and she is black which shape her life from the very beginning and, more importantly, she may be marginalized within them. Crenshaw divides intersectionality into three main categories (1991). The first, structural intersetionality refers to the experiences of black women in terms of domestic violence. Crenshew states at this point that there are many women of color who are excluded from their societies in terms of education and work. Apart from that, they often become victims of the class oppression and hierarchy that situate them at the bottom of the community structure. The second, political intersectionality depicts a problem with violence against women who are often marginalized. According to Crenshaw, it stems from the fact that women of color are often torn between political groups presenting conflicting agendas. On the one hand, they still have to opt for their rights as women in the male–dominated world and, on the other hand, they have to confront themselves with white women. At this point, the intersectionality between race and gender is visible. The third, representational intersectionality is directly related to the representation of black women in a culture that is often biased and, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Formulation of Research Question 'What works' research suggests that cognitive behavioural interventions produce the most effective recidivism results among offender populations. Therefore, it would be just to suggest that this type of intervention would be beneficial when reducing bullying and victimisation within the same population. Cognitive deficits that are related to offending attitudes and behaviour include social problem solving (Freedman, Rosenthal, Donahoe, Schlindt and McFall, 1978), and empathy (Covell and Scalora, 2002) among others. As bullying is an interaction with...show more content... However, because direct/indirect forms of bullying are being measured the full purpose of the study will be explained when debriefing occurs; immediately proceeding tests to reduce any emotional stress that may have occurred. Lastly participants will have the opportunity to receive research summaries and will be given details of how to obtain these. F. Analysis A percentage of results will be used to check accuracy via inputting means, standard deviations and minimum and maximum scoring of questionnaires, ensuring missing values are categorised correctly. Missing value analysis will be used to identify any trends and managed appropriately. If outliers are identified, transformation, alteration or deletion will commence. The skew and kurtosis will be tested for significance. Tests for homogeneity of variance will be performed and managed appropriately. Descriptive statistics will be obtained followed by between–subjects analyses e.g. ANOVA or MANOVA. G. Critique To avoid discrimination on illiteracy grounds, participants will complete study material in individual interviews. This may have an impact upon honesty as participants may be guarded when expressing truthfulness because of fears of repercussions. This can be overcome by giving appropriate information packs and offering individual time outside of interviews. This method would also alleviate victims and bullies completing study material in group settings, thus avoiding

Fundamentally, a good management within an organization is a management that conducts efficiency and effectiveness (Gish, 2016). In the same way, efficiency in an organization will be useless if they fail to achieve its objectives due to ineffectiveness. Similarly, an effective management will also be worthless if they are inefficient. In today 's world, we may see many effective organization but some of them are still not efficient. Even though effective and efficient have the same goal of improving organizational performance, each of them has a different value. Therefore, this essay will identify the definition of efficient and effective, the differences between these two elements, and the writer's opinion regarding to the importance of efficiency and effectiveness. In general, a successful organization is an organization, which is effective and efficient. According to Robbins & Coulter (2016), efficiency is a measure of the level of resource use in a process to get the most output with the least resources time and effort. In other words, being efficient simply means reducing the amount of wasted inputs. All organizations should be efficient because all inputs such as time and money are limited. • 18. Essay on Gerrymandering English 1101 January 22, 2014 Gerrymandering Gerrymandering is defined as the establishment of boundaries of voting districts with the main objective of determining the partial or complete outcome of elections. Gerrymanders are designed with the main objective of insuring the defeat of specific individuals or electing political allies. There are a number of objectives of gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is usually carried out in order to allow for the reelection of incumbents or for the party in power to win more seats in an election than the number to which its percentage of the total vote properly entitles it. This only serves to subvert the will of the people since it denies them the amount of voting power that they are entitled ...show more content... The resulting districts are normally referred to as gerrymanders and they are composed of pro–incumbents and partisans. Partisan gerrymandering involves the redrawing of political lines in order to favor a given political party. Incumbent gerrymandering involves the redrawing of boundaries in a bipartisan manner that is aimed at benefiting the incumbents on both sides of the aisle (Snider 2012). The gerrymandering process allows the majority party within a given state to maximize the number of seats it can win in the future elections. This leads it into creating as many districts as possible where it constitutes the majority. By doing this, those who support the minority parties are packed into the remaining few districts. This results in more electoral security for the minority party and less electoral security for the members of the minority parties. It also produces greater homogeneity within the districts while reducing competition for the house seats. Apart from the positive effects of gerrymandering, there are a number of negative effects associated with partisan gerrymandering. This process results in more competitive districts when compared to the non competitive districts and this in turn ambiguously affects polarization. Partisan gerrymandering also affects the state legislative electoral competitiveness as it has severe partisan biases. Excessive partisan gerrymandering is the violation of the equal protection clause since it consigns the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
