This document discusses wireless power transmission (WPT) and its history, mechanisms, applications and advantages/disadvantages. It describes how WPT works through electromagnetic induction or microwave transmission without wires. The document outlines Nikola Tesla's early experiments with WPT in the late 1800s and discusses modern implementations like transferring power to electric vehicles or using solar power satellites to beam energy from space. While WPT could address energy losses during transmission and power remote areas, high initial costs remain a challenge to widespread adoption.
One of the major issue in power system is the losses occurs during the transmission and distribution of electrical power. As the demand increases day by day, the power generation increases and the power loss is also increased. The major amount of power loss occurs during transmission and distribution. The percentage of loss of power during transmission and distribution is approximated as 26%. The main reason for power loss during transmission and distribution is the resistance of wires used for grid. The efficiency of power transmission can be improved to certain level by using high strength composite overhead conductors and underground cables that use high temperature super conductor. But, the transmission is still inefficient. According to the World Resources Institute (WRI), India’s electricity grid has the highest transmission and distribution losses in the world – a whopping 27%. Numbers published by various Indian government agencies put that number at 30%,40% and greater than 40%. This is attributed to technical losses (grid’s inefficiencies) and theft. Any problem can be solved by state of the art technology. The above discussed problem can be solvedby choose an alternative option for power transmission which could provide much higher efficiency, low transmission cost and avoid power theft. Microwave Power Transmission is one of the promising technologies and may be the righteous alternative for efficient power transmission.
This ppt explains how to develop a device for wireless power transfer. It can make a remarkable change in the field of the electrical engineering and eliminates conventional copper cables and current carrying wires.

One of the major hurdles holding solar power back is the inherent intermittency issues that come with having an atmosphere over your head. Solar cells on the Earth's surface can only generate electricity when the sun is in the sky, and for many countries, especially those in the Northern hemisphere, constant cloud cover can put a damper on a solar economy. But what if you could bypass the atmosphere altogether, what if you could harness solar energy directly from the sun, in space.

In the near future due to extensive use of energy, limited supply of resources and the pollution in environment from present resources e.g. (wood, coal, fossil fuel) etc, alternative sources of energy and new ways to generate energy which are efficient, cost effective and produce minimum losses are of great concern. Wireless electricity (Power) transmission (WET) has become a focal point as research point of view and nowadays lies at top 10 future hot burning technologies that are under research these days. This paper presents the concept of transmitting power wirelessly to reduce transmission and distribution losses. The wired distribution losses are 70 - 75% efficient. We cannot imagine the world without electric power which is efficient, cost effective and produce minimum losses is of great concern. This paper tells us the benefits of using WET technology specially by using Solar based Power satellites (SBPS) and also focuses that how we make electric system cost effective, optimized and well organized. Solar Power Satellite (SPS) is an energy system which collects solar energy in space and transmits it to the ground. It has been believed as a promising infrastructure to resolve global environmental and energy problems for human beings. Microwave power transmission has been investigated and demonstrated for more than 40 years, but still requires further research regarding high-efficiency power conversion and high-accuracy beam control for SPS application. Moreover, attempts are made to highlight future issues so as to index some emerging solutions.
In this paper, I present the concept of Solar Power Satellites -The solar cells in the satellite will convert sunlight to electricity, which will changed to radio frequency energy, then beamed to a receiver site on earth and reconverted to electricity by using transmitting and receiving antenna with the technology of wireless power transmission (i.e., transmitting power as microwaves in order to reduce the transmission and distribution losses). This concept is also known as Microwave Power Transmission.

The renewable energy is vital for today’s world as in near future the non renewable sources that we are using are going to get exhausted. The Wireless solar vehicle with robotic arm is a step in saving these non renewable sources of energy and use in different industries. The basic principle of solar vehicle is to use energy that is stored in a battery during and after charging it from a solar panel,
The charged batteries are used to drive the motor which serves here as an engine and moves the vehicle in left ,right, reverse and forward direction. Led battery indicator is used for indicate remaining power in battery .BT Module uses to control the Motor direction and control the motion of robotic arm with the help programmed Arduino UNO R3. We used Three servomotor for make a Robotic Arm basically the function of servomotor is its rotate at 180 degree.Servo motor is controlling by Programmed Arduino UNO R3 and Programmed Arduino UNO R3 is connected by BT module and battery. We uses 16 volt rechargeable Battery. With the help of C,C+ ,jAVA programming we make a Android App for Android mobile. The interference medium between vehicle and Robotic arm is Bluetooth. This avoids excess flow of current when the vehicle is supposed to be stopped suddenly as it is in normal cars with regards to fuel. This idea, in future, may help protect our fuels from getting extinguished. All recent electric vehicles present drive on AC power supplied motor.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
2. Why WPT?
• One of the major issues in power system is the losses occurring during the
transmission and distribution of electrical power.
• The percentage of loss of power during transmission and distribution is
approximated as 26%.
• The main reason for power loss during transmission and distribution is
the resistance of wires used in grid.
• According to the World Resources Institute (WRI), India’s electricity grid
has the highest transmission and distribution losses in the world – a
whopping 27-40%.
• Tesla has proposed methods of transmission of electricity using
electromagnetic induction.
3. What is WPT?
• As the word wireless means “without wire”.
• Wireless energy transfer or wireless power is the transmission of electrical
energy from a power source to an electric load without interconnecting
man made conductors.
• Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are
inconvenient, hazardous or impossible.
4. History
• Experiments performed between 1888 and 1907 by Nikola Tesla
• Started efforts on wireless transmission at 1891 in his
“experimental station” at Colorado
• He lighted a small incandescent lamp by means of a resonant circuit
grounded on one end.
• William C. Brown, the pioneer in wireless power transmission
technology
• The idea of Tesla is taken in to research after 100 years by a team
led by Marin Soljačić from MIT
5. How safe is WPT?
• Human beings or other objects placed between the
transmitter and receiver do not hinder the transmission of
power.
• Magnetic field tend to interact very weakly with the
biological tissues of the body, and so are not prone to cause
any damage to any living being
6. Microwave Transmission
• Microwave transmission refers to the technology of
transmitting information by the use of radio waves whose
wavelengths are conveniently measured in small numbers of
centimeters; these are called microwaves.
• Radio spectrum ranges across frequencies of roughly 1.0
gigahertz(GHz) to 30GHz.
• Corresponds to wavelength from 30 centimeters down to
1.0cm.
7. Microwave Power Transfer
• Transfers high power from one place to another.
• Two places being in line of sight usually
• Steps:
~Electrical energy to microwave energy
~Capturing microwaves using rectenna
~Microwave energy to electrical energy
8. MPT cont…
AC can not be directly converted to microwave energy
AC is converted to DC first
DC is converted to microwaves using magnetron
Transmitted waves are received at rectenna which rectifies,
gives DC as the output
DC is converted back to AC
9. Building Blocks for MWPT
• A converter for converting DC to Microwave frequency.
• Antenna for transmission of the generated microwave.
• A rectifying antenna (RECTENNA) for receiving the microwave
beam and converting back into DC.
10. Magnetrons
A Magnetrons is a high powered vaccum tube that generates
that generates non -consistent microwaves
with built in resonators or by special
oscillators or solid state devices to control the frequency.
The electromagnetic energy created from a magnetron can
travel at the speed of light
11. Semiconductor Amplifier
It generate low power microwave with a low voltage
It is easy to control a phase and amplitude
Semiconductor device for microwave circuits are
FET,HBT,HEMT.
Material for semiconductor device
• Si -lower frequency
• GaAs-higher frequency
12. Antennas
Antennas can be applied for both the MPT & Communication
system.
Fixed target of the MPT system we use large parabolic
antenna
Moving target we use phased array antenna.
SPS is designed with phased array antenna.
13.
14. Rectenna
Rectifying circuit and antenna
Receive and rectify a microwave power to DC
Passive element
Ideally 100% of the received microwave power is
converted to DC power
15.
16. Solar Power Satellites
• Solar Power Satellites (SPS) have proposed to collect solar
energy in space and beam it down to the Earth.
• Solar energy is captured using photocells
• Each SPS may have 400 million photocells
• Transmitted to earth in the form of microwaves/LASER
• Using rectenna/photovoltaic cell, the energy is converted to
electrical energy
• Efficiency exceeds 95% if microwave is used.
17. Why use SPS ?
There is no air in space, so the satellites would
receive somewhat more intense sunlight, 3 times
stronger than on the surface.
unaffected by weather.
The SPS concept is simpler than most power
systems here on earth.
it can be collected 24 hours per day .
( since there are no clouds or night in high Earth
orbit).
SPS does not use up valuable surface area on the
Earth
19. Four basic steps to convert
sunlight into electricity
• Capture solar energy in space and convert it to electricity
• Transform the electricity to radio frequency energy and
transmit it to Earth
• Receive the radio frequency energy on Earth and convert it
back to electricity
• Provide the electricity to the utility grid
20. Advantages
• Efficient
• Easy
• Need for grids, substations etc are eliminated
• Low maintenance cost
• More effective when the transmitting and receiving points are
along a line-of-sight
• Can reach the places which are remote
• Zero fuel cost
21. Disadvantages
• The Capital Cost for practical implementation of WPT seems
to be very high.
• Interference of microwave with present communication
systems.
• Common belief fears the effect of microwave radiation.
• initial cost is high.
• Geosynchronous satellites would take up large sections of
space
22. Applications
• Near-field energy transfer
– Electric automobile charging
• Static and moving
– Consumer electronics
– Industrial purposes
• Harsh environment
• Far-field energy transfer
– Solar Power Satellites
– Energy to remote areas
– Can broadcast energy globally (in future)
23. Conclusion
• Transmission without wires- a reality
• Efficient
• Low maintenance cost. But, high initial cost
• Better than conventional wired transfer
• Energy crisis can be decreased
• Low loss
• In near future, world will be completely wireless
