The ambitions and results in the area of climate change, energy and water management contribute to a sustainable, attractive and economically successful city. • Rotterdam, its partners and inhabitants are committed to a better climate. Efforts and projects aim to achieve 50% reduction of CO2 emissions – mitigation. • Rotterdam focuses on permanent protection and accessibility of the city and port, despite climate change. Adaptation measures will lead to full climate change resilience by 2025 – adaptation. • The consequences of climate change include a rising sea level, river runoff changes, more extreme rain showers and periods of drought. • Innovative solutions are required to prevent nuisance.
