Hello. I'm Robin Young, and like everyone I just named, I grew up in an alcoholic home. Now I know some of you may remember me as a co-host of Evening Magazine, a former correspondent for NBC News, but now I also refer to myself as something called an adult child of an alcoholic.
Now I know that doesn't make sense at first. Adult child. What does that mean? But please listen, because tonight's program may make some people's lives make sense, some for the first time.
We're going to be talking about adults confronting the fact that the alcoholism they grew up with was not only very painful when they were children, but has had a profound effect on them as adults.
And this alcoholism isn't always easy to see. I mean, sure, there's the violent drunk that you see on television, but we're also talking about the silent homes where kids grew up in constant fear that there would be violence, that Mom would fall asleep drunk with a cigarette or Dad have a car accident driving home. No one ever talked about it, and these kids always thought it was their fault.
I know alcoholism wasn't even mentioned in my home until my dad died from it three years ago. And even then it was hard for me to talk about, until I heard other people's voices.
He was a really sort of Jekyll/Hyde personality. When he wasn't drinking he was charming and bright and insightful. And when he was drinking he was angry.

- 1. Rosaline A beautiful tragedy Life, struggles, and marriage.
- 2. Rosaline Rosaline was a beautiful soul. Romeo Montague, the late lover of Juliet Capulet, was actually in love with young Rosaline before her. After she told Romeo she was to be a nun, he gave up on her. Not long after this news, she met the love of her life, Tybalt. She had a great life, up until her wedding day. This is one of her mothers, Tionna Mcmahan, story of her daughters life.
- 3. Parents background. Rosaline had two wonderful parents. Kasey Martz and Tionna Mcmahan loved their child, and soon had her marriage all planned out for her so that she would have a wonderful life. They changed her water every day, and made sure she had the proper things going on with her so she could survive the hatching.
- 4. Struggles Poor Rosaline did not seem to develop as quickly as others. She was always the youngest and smallest. Finding her heart was sometimes a problem for her parents, because it was so small. Tionna and Kasey seemed to think that her heartbeat was quite slower compared to others. They thought something was wrong, but they really hoped they had been wrong.
- 5. Marriage Rosaline was a day away from marrying her beloved Tybalt. She was excited, and so was he. He did not realize that something was in fact bothering her. The man who used to love her was dead, and she couldn’t help but blame herself. She still loved him a little bit, but most of the reason was because she thought she caused two deaths. Romeo killed himself because of Juliet and Juliet killed herself because of Romeo. She thought that if she had given Romeo a chance, they both would have lived. Thanks to this reasoning, she killed herself, leaving poor Tybalt all by himself.
- 6. The Funeral: Parents Tionna and Kasey were so devastated by their loss, they got a divorce.
- 7. The Funeral continued: The In-Laws. The divorced parents of Tybalt were so sad, they had really gotten close to poor Rosaline.
- 8. This is Rosaline on her first day of being with us. That bright ball looking thing is an oil globule.
- 9. Rosaline was dying, only her tail got out of the egg. She still had blood flow and a heart beat, but it was faint.
- 10. This is where the viteline membrane, optic cup, oil globule, and heart are located.

The fifth day his heart was slowing down, with 109 beats per minute. Day 6, was 139 beats per minute. Lastly, day 7 there was 114 beats per minute.
