Roman villas were rural farm estates located outside of towns where landowners and their families lived. The villas were divided into three parts - the urban part where the owner lived, the commercial part for storage, and the rustic part where workers and animals lived. In the urban part, the owner would relax in the baths which had separate rooms for changing, cold baths, warm baths, and hot baths. The kitchen was where slaves cooked meals and the courtyard had a hole in the roof to collect rainwater.
