Employees & Entrepreneurs in Tourism Of India
The tourism in India is one of the biggest opportunity providers contributing to the country’s GDP
through foreign exchange earnings and employment for men & women. Tourism industry employs many
people directly and indirectly. The involvement of women and men in tourism industry, with particular
focus on women’s choices in selecting roles and challenges they come across based on the roles they
perform.
A exceptional set of skills and abilities are needed by industry, those employed in such varied venues as
travel agencies, airlines, government agencies, amusement parks, rental agencies, tours company,
hospitality and many other careers of tourism industry. Many of these individuals have worked their way
through the ranks of their organizations to reach the management level. Few of these individuals have had
any formal education in tourism and have basically "fallen" into their tourism careers. The quality of
service and general treatment that a guest receives from their tourism organizations will influence a
guest's decision to return and utilize the facilities, and other service available. Flexibility and an gratitude
for multi-cultural approaches to business were also considered important, in specific functional areas,
marketing and sales were identified as increasingly important in today's competitive environment. An
insufficiency of formal education and training, no industry-wide recognized qualifications, little
coordination between the tourism industry and educators, a lack of awareness in education and training.
Educational background plays a key role in tourism industry. There are many diverse executive positions
in the tourism industry. Though the actual position of women employees may vary from public to private
sector, natural to man-made attraction or event, the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in tourism
industry and can be developed. In the past, women working in this segment were more liable towards
domestic responsibilities. The trend has changed now. Many women have evolved as entrepreneurs, hotel
owners, travel agents, tour operators, etc. The rise in women’s status through such jobs provides a
delightful outlook. Various news, articles and reviews tell that women’s status has been increasingly
upgraded by exposure to employment & running own business. Most of the tourists commonly agreed
that seeing women working makes the tourism industry livelier.
