This document provides several examples that demonstrate form, shape, volume, space, and silhouette in images: 1) Examples show form through silhouettes that outline shapes without details, volume through 3D objects where one can see inside and the space within, and shape through grouped simple geometric forms. 2) Images of balloons, a hall, and a bubble demonstrate volume by showing the space or air inside hollow objects and how size is determined by comparing objects to their surroundings. 3) Pictures of a subway drawing, steps, and a diver indicate space, volume, and depth through realistic perspective that gives a sense of the space beneath or inside depicted objects.

1. Here is an example of form. You don’t see the details just the silhouette. Almost like a ‘cut-out’.

2. Here is an obvious example off shape although space is also present.

3. This is an example of volume.

4. Another example of silhouette form. A wonderful motion picture.

5. Shape. Here many of the same shapes are grouped together to form an over-all picture. Different colours are used to ‘individualise’ the shapes.

6. Volume and space.We can determine the size due to the fact that we can compare it to the space and surroundings. Volume ‘grows’ towards the middle.

7. ..... See the volume?....

8. Volume once again. I find it difficult to explain ‘volume’... Anything that has mass has volume.These air balloons being a good example.

9. Shape .. Within shape.. Creating art.

10. Love this picture.Here i see volume .The fact that she is transparent and 3D allows you to see depth and volume.

11. Much like the previous picture this one is 3D allowing you to see volume and of cores shape is present. (triangles)

12. Shape..There is an overall square which is the picture and many individual squares creating the picture.

13. Form and shape.Silhouette creates form and in between the silhouettes are shapes.

14. Space. This wall(?) was designed with a cavity.

15. Space. I get a definite feeling of space and the vast size of this hall. Proportion plays a big part.

16. Volume. Understanding of the space inside.

17. Volume.Can see the hollowness in the middle petals.

18. Space volume and shape. The fact that this is displayed in a room gives us an accurate understanding of the actual size if the ‘pile’.

19. Form and volume are present here. I also get a feeling of distance.

20. Fantastic picture this. Its a subway drawing done so well that it looks realistic. I’m not sure if I'm correct in saying that volume is present or space ‘underneath’ the steps. Shape is an obvious -> rectangle.

21. Volume..Very well aware of the space/air inside the bubble.

22. Space volume and depth. Size/space indicated by comparison to the diver.
