•   Suicide is an intentional taking of one’s
    life

•   The rate of completed suicide is five
    times greater in boys then in girls

•   Adolescent suicide rate among ages
    10-14 was 1.3/100000
How can people prevent it?
•   Teenagers can get Mental-Health Screening

•   Teachers that are trained to look for
    troubled teens

•   Suicide prevention programs

    •   Group therapy for young adults

    •   Anti-Bullying websites/programs

    •   Staff suicide hotlines
Why do teens commit suicide?
•   Conflict or death of a parent

•   Romance problems

•   Genetic, Neurological, Psychological, Social
    and Cultural factors

•   Being bullied in school

    •   For being different

    •   For being gay

    homes with an ensemble in Maryland and
    played music for people with Alzheimer's
    disease.

•   We did this because people with Alzheimer’s
    disease cannot leave the nursing homes and
    since they forget things, we play music for
    them and try to cheer them up.
