This document provides an overview and timeline for renovations planned at the Rita Bright Community Center. It summarizes feedback received from community surveys, including top priorities like improving outdoor spaces, the computer lab, and kitchen. Next steps include finalizing funding, issuing a request for contractor proposals, and holding additional community meetings during the design process to gather more feedback.
Northside Stranger's Home For Sale - Part of Cabrini-Green Re-DevelopmentIvona Kutermankiewicz
Northside Stranger's Home known best for its mural by the pioneering Chicago muralist William Walker's "All of Mankind (Unity of the Human Race)" is for sale. It is neighboring the proposed site of Obama's College Prep High School in Stanton Park and surrounded by CHA-owned land zoned POD5 which is a part of re-development plans for the previous site of the Cabrini-Green Homes.
On May 1st the Parks Foundation and Minneapolis Park Board hosted a community open house, unveiling the evolved design concept for Water Works park on the Mississippi riverfront in downtown Minneapolis. At the open house, community members were invited to offer input on the new design concept. This presentation was given by the design team during the open house, highlighting the history of Water Works, project timeline, and cultural resources.
The presentation was given by:
Bruce Chamberlain – Minneapolis Parks Foundation
Kate Lamers - MPRB Water Works Project Manager
Anne Ketz - The 106 Group
Tom Whitlock – Damon Farber Landscape Architects
Joan Soranno – HGA

Continuous Improvement, make it visible - ICSPI 2006 - Ben LindersBen Linders
Communication is an important factor in improvement programs. Communication pictures the goals and approach of an improvement program. It can motivate people to commit to change, by showing expected benefits and early results. But wrong or too much communication can also frustrate people, getting them to resist changing.
Many improvement programs are run by technical persons, in a technical environment. Often communication is undervalued and underestimated, and perceived as difficult. It is something that people are inexperienced in, which makes them feel uncomfortable. But if they get started, and take some hurdles, they can get better in it. This presentation provides hands-on information, and hint & tips.
This presentation will show how vital communication is for improvement programs. It supplies a set of tools and techniques to improve the visibility of targets and results, and will explain how this has been used to monitor and steer continuous improvement in an R&D organization. Views on continuous improvement from different stakeholders are included, to show their needs on communication.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.
Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

8. POTENTIAL PROJECT MEETINGS:
Community Meeting 1:
Typically, this meeting is held as soon as the A/E is onboard and the design phase of the project is beginning. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the
“project team” to the community and for DPR to work with community on their program requirements for the project.
Meeting 2:
This meeting is held once the project team or A/E has had time to digest the information from Meeting 1 and discuss the information with DPR to assist with
development of the program as it relates to the new space. The purpose of this meeting is to refine the community wants/needs with them. A/E may present
initial concept designs.
Meeting 3:
Meeting 3 is held at about the 50% Design Development phase while changes to the design are not overly burdensome or cost-prohibitive. This meeting
provides the community a look at the progress of the design and a representation of what they’re getting. The community should be asked to provide feedback
on the progress at this point. DGS and DPR will discuss the feedback received and incorporate into the design if necessary.
Meeting 4:
The final community meeting for design is held at or very near to the 100% Construction Documents phase of design. This purpose of this meeting is to show
the final design to the community and discuss the schedule for construction. This meeting also provides a perfect opportunity for the team to notify the
community of the interim changes that the project will necessitate such as where specific programs will be temporarily relocated to during construction.
Community related issues such, as parking changes, noise, project work hours, etc. should also be discussed at this meeting.
Meeting 5:
Once the General Contractor of the design/build team is on board a meeting is held with the community to introduce the Design Build Team, discuss project
schedule and the impact construction may have on resident’s quality of life (parking, noise, project work hours, etc.).
Community Updates:
DGS will provide monthly updates via email and have the information posted on the DGS webpage. Any required community meetings will be held and
facilitated by DPR.
