I am writing this letter on behalf of Andrew Gosselin. As the Director of Operations for the Ripken
Experience, I manage the day-to-day operations at Cal Ripken, Jr. and Bill Ripken’s youth baseball
complex in Myrtle Beach, SC. During the summer of 2015, Andrew served as a Tournament Operations
Intern. He assisted the staff in running ten straight, week-long youth baseball tournaments at our complex.
Andrew was an integral part in delivering this once-in-a-lifetime experience to thousands of baseball
players from across the country. From the start, Andrew grasped the understanding of the “Ripken Way”,
and it showed in his work.
For 21 years Cal worked hard to build and maintain an image as a role model on and off the field.
Everything we do in our tournaments is designed to honor the Ripken family and all that Cal and Bill have
come to stand for. Our attention to detail and the experience we provide for the teams is unmatched, and
that cannot be accomplished without people like Andrew.
Andrew’s responsibilities while working for the Ripken Experience are demanding. Long hours, hectic
work schedule, and interacting with people everyday are not easy tasks. Andrew assisted with several
different aspects of our business. He served as a tournament official, worked on our grounds crew staff,
and assisted in the food and beverage department. He demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills when
working with tournament coaches, fans, and umpires. Andrew has a solid work ethic which was evident
while working on our grounds crew staff, and most importantly, he brought a positive attitude with him to
work each day.
In conclusion, Andrew has demonstrated the ability to adapt to different working environments. He is very
task oriented. When Andrew is given a project, he takes it and sees it through to the end. He is a very
driven and determined individual, and this combination will lead him to success in the future. Out of 30
interns this past summer, Andrew stood out amongst the group as somebody we could depend on to get the
job done right.
