DID YOU KNOW?
-STEVE KERR
This message was especially important for our entry-level
Inside Sales team and really anyone just starting out in
their careers. You might be tempted to put your head
down and focus all of your energy on killing it in your role
and crushing your peers. Obviously results are extremely
important and we want ambitious and competitive people,
but equally important are the relationships you build with
your peers and leadership team.
So what can you do to take Dom’s advice and be a leader,
even as a college student or in an entry level position?
Don’t forget to become great at your main role, but in
addition, branch out. While you’re waiting in line at the
coffee machine, strike up a conversation with your peers
in line - ask how their weekend was, or what their plans
are for after work. Find someone in your department or
class you don’t know that well, and take them to lunch.
Be effusive in your praise of others and celebrate your
peers successes like they are your own. At the end of the
day, walk into your VP’s office and ask how his or her day
went, or how their fantasy football team did this week
(don’t ask our VP John Fisher this question though, his
team is bad).
Yes, we live and work in a results oriented world and the
results do matter, but if you really want to get ahead,
make sure you invest in your relationships and those
around you. If you are ready to put these words into
action and become the next great sports sales leader,
reach out and let’s get started.

goals. We also began to look forward to 2018 – excited to move
further into an off-season where our fan base is excited and
optimistic about the future.
It is an amazing time to be a
D-back, but really it has
always been. One of the
main reasons why we were
named the best sports
organization to work for in
sports by Forbes is that we
are always investing in our
employees. At our recap
meeting on Thursday, this
meant bringing in a guest
speaker to address our sales
staff on the topic of
leadership, specifically
leadership from a peer-to-peer standpoint. Dom Fausette is local Air
Force veteran and former business leader turned executive coach
and speaker, and he brought a message that I thought was relevant
to share in this newsletter.
Dom’s main point was that leadership is really all about influence,
and you don’t need to be a positional leader to influence those
around you. No matter what your position or rank, you can be a
leader and you don’t have to wait for that promotion to influence your
peers (in fact, if you do wait for that promotion to be a leader, that
promotion may never come). It starts with building meaningful
relationships with those around you – showing genuine interest in
their lives and finding out what makes them tick. People want to
follow others who they know and like, so once that personal
connection is built, you can let your actions speak for themselves
and lead by example.
The D-backs Ticket Sales & Service
Team recently held our annual off-
site recap meeting to wrap up our
amazing 2017 season, and lay out
the vision for 2018. It was an
incredible year both on and off the
field for our organization. A year in
which we won 93 games, won the
NL Wildcard game (one of the best
games ever played at Chase Field),
and advanced to the NLDS. We
were able to reflect back on the
most memorable moments – the
walk-off wins and the champagne
celebrations, and celebrate the goals
hit in a year where every single
department exceeded their revenue

AROUND THE HORN - ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
The D-backs made the Postseason in 2017 for the first time
in six years and won a thrilling Wild Card game against the
Rockies at Chase Field. It was a magical season our fans will
never forget. Below are a few of our Inside Sales alums with
their own personal reactions to the 2017 season.

D-BACKS MAKE THE POSTSEASON
SALES DEVELOPMENT STAFF UPDATE
If you are a current college student interested in gaining experience in sports sales before you graduate, the D-backs Sales Development Staff is the perfect
opportunity for you. This is a part-time position beginning in March of 2018 where you will receive training from D-backs sales executives, and gain
experience working gameday events in support of the D-backs sales team. Students interested should email Geno Fata at gfata@dbacks.com
“The most common phrase used on the Business Development staff since the start of the 2018
campaign in late July has been, 'Is this real life?', referring to the level of excitement surrounding
this team both internally and externally. This incredible buzz has led to enormous leverage
opportunities and the hottest start to a campaign any of us have ever experienced. It’s been an
absolute blast every step of the way. If the electricity in the stadium when Archie Bradley comes
out of the pen in the 8th inning with Jay-Z blasting over the sound system and the crowd going
nuts doesn’t send chills down your spine, then check your pulse.”
“What’s been most rewarding about this season isn’t just the visible success from the on-field
product, but rather seeing the genuine passion and emphatic support from our loyal fan base. D-
backs Season Ticket Holders are a resilient bunch – many having been through some tough
seasons – and it’s wonderful to see first-hand how deeply committed they are to the betterment of
our organization. It’s just as fun for them as it is for me (working in Season Ticket Services), and
I’m glad we shared such a memorable season together.”
“This season has been the most exciting one I’ve been a part of! Not to be too cliché, but the
energy and excitement on the field has carried into the office each day since Opening Day. In my
role, I see the passion through our season ticket holders and it’s been awesome to directly help
them create memories that they will remember for many years to come."
