1. December 2016
Message from Greg Aden
2016 President
Greetings and Happy Holidays!! After
finishing one of my favorite holidays,
Thanksgiving, I am full of gratitude and so
thankful for my boys, my health and all my
relationships. These next few weeks are
always filled with emotion for some and
planning for others. I tend to have a bit of
both as another year comes to an end
allowing me to reflect on what has worked
and what needs work!
Our Fall Conference was a huge success:
attendance was over 145 people, speakers
were rated extremely high, food & atmosphere was the best ever.
The evaluations tell us we indeed hit the mark in several areas.
What will we do next year to increase attendance and continue to
add value to our members and guests? Stay tuned.
Keep your eyes open for our "year end" survey seeking your input
on how we can add value to members, our monthly meetings and
our virtual programming efforts in 2017.
I am excited to be a part of this wonderful organization, and I have
great pride for what we stand for as a community as well as the
change we bring to those we serve. Am I sad this is my last
message as President of ICF-CO? No. I am delighted to hand over
the reigns to Lisa Hale as she will put her touch of excellence on the
Chapter for the next 12 months.
Please know I have enjoyed my time in the seat and proud of where
the Chapter is today. I learned back in March to not mistake
attendance for engagement. Meaning each of us learn and wish to
be served in many different ways. We know that some of you
want/need community and fellowship provided by monthly
meetings, while others want information and want it now ... so no
need to connect as often but want value in terms of educational

2. materials, articles, best practices etc. Building a practice and
bringing in clients is not the end all for some of you that are leaning
into coaching within an organization or with an established practice.
I learned to recognize and appreciate each of the individual reasons
for entering this honorable profession and serve those in your path
be it a client or not. I realize most of you wish to make a "good"
living and have freedom to do whatever it is you wish while
preparing for tomorrow. Some need safety and security more than
others. Some would like to speak more while some love the
one-on-one coaching. Here’s to all of you succeeding into the new
year regardless of what success looks like to you.
It has been an honor to serve the organization in 2016, and I know
you are in very capable hands going forward into 2017 with Lisa
Hale and the leadership team she is assembling. I will see you
around and look forward to seeing many of you at the Holiday Party
on Thursday, December 8th in Lowry.

MEMBERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
Geo Roberts
I have been a member of ICF Colorado for
2 years and a member of ICF for 22
years. My introduction to ICF was a 1993
London mentoring and coaching
conference. Following an exciting career
as a graduate of the USAF Academy,
seeing combat in Viet Nam and then
serving as a fighter pilot and instructor for
the first 15 years of my working life, I
stumbled into what my real purpose here
on Earth is. Together with my wife and
sons we settled in the UK and I
co-founded a management training and
leadership development company which
engaged a spectrum of small, medium sized and international
organizations throughout Europe, UK and the US for over 30 years.
Before coaching was even perceived as a profession outside of
sports, our clients wanted to explore how to produce lasting
behavioral and attitudinal change throughout their work force from
boardroom to the shop floor. To this end we employed a unique
model and method of accelerating growth and change in the values,
vision and working practices of individuals, teams and organizations
called the Cycle of Experiential Development. This powerful
framework helped CEO’S through to ‘operators at the ‘coal face’ to
understand how and why change was desired, needed and then
successfully carried out. Results were dramatically improved so that
instead of 80% of change initiatives failing, over 80% succeeded. I
have worked across the broad spectrum of manufacturing,
pharmaceutical, retail, property management and IT as well as
