Bo Jackson
Baseball Operations
Cincinnati Reds
100 Joe Nuxhall Way
Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
Dear Mr. Jackson,
This letter is in response to the recent advertisement for a position as an operations assistant within the
Cincinnati Reds organization. Being within the operations department, which I find to be one of the most desirable
positions. The Cincinnati Reds have dealt with their day-to-day and yearly operations with a ton of flexibility. I
would like to contribute my abilities and knowledge of the game to help propel the organization to a higher level
with new and unique ideas.
The past summer I worked as an operations and courts intern at the Western and Southern Open. I spent
weeks preparing and working on the logistics side of the week long tournament. It increased my organizational skills
and allowed me to plan things out in advance. My duties even expanded once the tournament started and I then
helped with taking care of all the professionalplayers needs and keeping courts maintained. I also served as Director
of Academic Affairs for Delta Tau Delta Crescent Colony at Mount St. Joseph University. This position created
opportunities for me to work on a schedule and look at the “bigger picture” within the fraternity. I retained over 30
members on track academically, and maintained detailed records over the annual year. Working upfront with people
has become second nature to me and a huge benefit.
My major field of study is Sports Management and Business. This provides a solid foundation to get started
in such a position as the one posted. This would allow me to be a great fit within your organization and help make
an immediate impact. Please refer to my resume for additional information, and I would greatly appreciate any
opportunity to further expand in person. Thank you for your time and consideration,I may be contacted at (937)-
515-4178 to further discuss my qualifications.
Sincerely,
Jordan Carpenter

ELEVATOR SPEECH
My name is Jordan Carpenter. I am a senior at Mount St. Joseph University graduating with a Sports
management degree. I have been working around the sports world for my entire college career and see myself
as having strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to situations. I work with Mount St. Joseph’s
baseball team as an operations worker, as I handle stats, inventory, and working with different computer
programs. I also spent a summer working and preparing the Western and Southern Open tennis tournament.
This allowed me to gain extensive experience in the everyday operations of sports and the logistical side of it. I
think these experiences and the personality I have allow me to do well in any scenario or prospective job
situation.

PERSONAL BRAND
I grew up in a small town that caused me to have a desire to reach out and expand what I had done and
wanted to do. Special mentors caused me to have a desire to really make a difference and that became my real
goal. I was raised in the world of sports with my father being a sports reporter and my mom coaching various
high schoolsports. It was my first love and something that only grew once I relocated to the city for college.
This changed my personality, professionally at least, into a new direction. I was ready to make
connections, meet people, and learn more and more about the world of sports and what really made them tick. I
ventured out of my way in two big ways. I worked at a tennis tournament for two months and saw the inside
details of how everything works, and by traveling abroad and seeing a different side of sports in the Dominican
Republic. This truly cemented what I wanted to do. I want to make a serious effort to work with a professional
sports teams and to make a real difference in areas or situations not as easy as the ones we face at home.
Enthralled in the world of sports and everything that comes with it. Willing to take risks to try to make
a difference in the way sports are used as a source of change. A strong work ethic connects my determination
and persistence into what it takes to create a strong employee. I have the motivation to use my people skills to
really reach out in a new way. There will not be anyone more in love with their job. This creates the best
situations, as it allows for tasks to be done with real passion. Have a strong passion for what I truly want to do.
