Internet of Things (IoT): More than Smart “Things”Ahmed Banafa
By 2020, experts forecast that up to 28 billion devices will be connected to the Internet with only one third of them being computers, smartphones and tablets. The remaining two thirds will be other “devices” – sensors, terminals, household appliances, thermostats, televisions, automobiles, production machinery, urban infrastructure and many other “things”, which traditionally have not been Internet enabled.
This “Internet of Things” (IoT) represents a remarkable transformation of the way in which our world will soon interact. Much like the World Wide Web connected computers to networks, and the next evolution connected people to the Internet and other people, IoT looks poised to interconnect devices, people, environments, virtual objects and machines in ways that only science fiction writers could have imagined.
In a nutshell the Internet of Things (IoT) is the convergence of connecting people, things, data and processes is transforming our life, business and everything in between.
Data-driven enterprise requires intelligent, sentient, and resilient software systems to address information processing structures to deal with rapid fluctuations in resource demand and availability.
Communication, Collaboration and Commerce workflows at the speed of light demand always-on anti-fragile systems
Both autonomic computing and neural networks provide a next generation set of technologies to meet the needs of the data-driven enterprise at the speed of light
Crypto-Security and New Digital Asset Life-cycle Managent assures the Asset’s Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability providing Privacy & Protection of Individual Rights
Imagine yourself just a couple of years from now, in 2020. Experts believe by then the Internet of Things (IoT) will consist of an estimated 30 billion objects. Though the exact number is up for discussion, there is no doubt that the connectivity of things will grow. This implies the number of people needing to understand how IoT works will also grow. Thus there is a need to teach professionals what IoT is, how to use it to their advantage, and what challenges to expect.

The Digital Enterprise - Alfresco Summit Keynote 2014John Newton
US Fed Reserve says that productivity growth been declining in the 21st Century and IT has not necessarily been the solution. In Europe, growth has stalled completely and economies are facing the prospect of deflation. Business and operational models from the 20th Century no longer scale as we face exponential growth in information, activity and connections. We no longer give workers the scope or space to get work done. Waste and ad hoc process are killing us. We must reorganise how the company works and the way we do work. We must eliminate the waste of unnecessary paperwork, busy work and communication by digitising, automating and measuring that work into a Digital Enterprise. We must allow The Digital Enterprise will integrate information, processes, work and people to collaborate more efficiently and effectively to produce more valuable products and services.
Webinar discussing the top trends driving the Digital Enterprise with Content and Process. ECM has never been more important to driving productivity in the enterprise. Forrester's Cheryl McKinnon discusses the top trends that leaders are using to build the Digital Enterprise.

Design of Business in an Age of DisruptionCraig Martin
We are all acutely aware of the changes occurring in business. Market and socio political drivers are causing interesting business models to emerge and technological changes are resulting in new digital and disruptive business models that are reshaping our traditional industries. There is significant pressure to respond with solutions, products and services that are not only desirable from a human centred perspective but business viable and technologically feasible.
In order to cater for these pressures, new strategic planning disciplines and tools must be leveraged, or in some cases invented. These disciplines need to both help business solve wicked problems, as well as help solution providers inside and outside an organization provide more value based offerings.
This presentation will look at the emergence of design led strategic planning approaches that merge disciplines to help business decision makers test the viability of ideas and strategies, and play these out within an organisation to determine the high value positions necessary to succeed in the market. In this paper we explore on the fusion of design thinking, business design and enterprise architecture to help organizations address these challenges.

Creating Agile Organizations by Combining Design, Architecture and Agile Thin...Craig Martin
This is a talk I gave to the IASA follow-the-sun community. It deals with the combination of the design thinking, architecture thinking and agile thinking disciplines into a combined discipline needed to create the a responsive organisation.
Using Business Architecture to enable customer experience and digital strategyCraig Martin
Digital disruption is shifting business model design from a focus on product profitability to a stronger focus on customer experience and lifetime value.
The presentation looks at environmental pressures caused by digital disruption and identifies how to use business architecture and business design to address these changes.
It covers business architecture for digital strategy, customer-driven value chains, re-writing of the 4Ps of the marketing mix, and the nine laws of disruption and how they affect business model design.Craig also investigates the changes afoot with strategic business planning and Enterprise Architecture, which are experiencing their own form of disruption. Will Enterprise Architecture as we know it become a commodity too?
This presentation was delivered as an OpenGroup webinar and is available for viewing from the www.enterprisearchitects.com web site.
Re-Positioning the value of the architecture practiceCraig Martin
In an increasingly competitive landscape, organisations are becoming more aware how important it is to develop business services models that are aligned to customer values. Organisations that are not able to take a customer focused perspective are losing footing in the market as they attempt to understand what it means to architect for the customer.
Topics include:
- The Pressures caused by Disruption
- Performance and Expectation Gaps at the CxO level
- Improving Architecture Value
- Discipline Confusion
- Unifying the Enterprise
- Architecture Services Design
- Architecture Demand Analysis
Bringing Architecture Thinking to the People - An introduction into the PEOPL...Craig Martin
The successful implementation of an architecture plan or blueprint is often challenged not in the efficacy of the design elements of the architecture, but in its implementation by people in business operations. Transformation programs will often struggle as a consequence of the failure to consider the issues impacting and the role of people in supporting the target operating state of the architecture once implemented, it is therefore imperative that when architects innovate, model and design to solve business problems, that they equally consider the people dimension. Capability based planning is incomplete unless we address the optimum mix of people, process and tools to drive out the target outcome of that capability. This presentation will look at a case study from within the Australian market in which Business Capability Based Planning was applied to assess people capabilities and organisation preparedness to support a target business model. It will also discuss some of the more effective people levers that can be applied to deliver more impactful and long lasting architectural change.
DesignChain Business-by-Design Workshop Pack for IIBACraig Martin
There are a number of disciplines that provide “services” to an organisation. The challenge is that these disciplines are often overlapping, resulting in a loss of coherence amongst the actual disciplines and individuals that are meant to CREATE synergy and coherency.
How can we create synergy between design thinking, architecture thinking and agile thinking? Is there room for hybrid thinking?
There is also a lot of noise around tools and techniques within each of these disciplines. The challenge is how do they relate to one another? How can we build on these tools and techniques in a manner that not only extracts value from each but also facilitates a more coherent and higher value conversation with business.
In this whiteboard workshop aimed at Senior Business Analysis and Strategic Business Analysts, Craig will take attendees through a process of linking human centred design thinking, with strategic and business planning, business architecture and agile thinking.
Learning objectives:
Understand and be able to sell the value of the 4 disciplines
Understand how the 4 disciplines interact and when and where to use them
The 4 disciplines:
Design Thinking
Strategic Thinking
Business Architecture Thinking
Agile thinking
Transform Your Customer Experience with Modern Information ManagementNuxeo
According to new Nuxeo research, UK Financial Services firms are storing critical customer information and content - on average - across nine different systems. Additionally, 80% of respondents indicated that their information systems also aren’t integrated.
Not only does this have a significant impact on operational efficiency, it is also negatively impacting customers’ experiences as well. And with the specter of GDPR and other consumer privacy legislation looming, many organisations are finding it impossible to respond to these regulations and resulting customer inquiries.
In this webinar, we will share real-life examples of how leading financial services organisations - like ABN Amro, one of the Netherlands largest and most progressive banks - have modernised their legacy information systems to use data and content in new and innovative ways to deliver more value to their customers, reduce technology costs, and transform their businesses.
What you’ll learn:
- Why current information management strategies make financial services less competitive
- How to bridge information silos to enhance your customer experience
- Methods to improve decision-making with intelligent information
- How other top banks and insurers have already modernised their information management systems and what benefits they are experiencing
- How AI can provide greater automation and insight into financial services processes
- And, new ways to better comply with regulations
Our panelist will discuss common information management challenges that legacy systems pose, and how to intelligently modernise existing systems to support digital transformation, take advantage of new cloud technologies, and gain a competitive advantage in today’s financial services market.
Content Chaos: Why SharePoint and Office 365 Aren't the (only) AnswerZia Consulting
When Microsoft launched SharePoint, it was made for simply sharing documents within departments. Today, many organizations are trying to use it as their primary content management solution—their “system of record”—even though it was never designed for this.
In a recent ECM market study we see that:
93% of respondents use SharePoint in some manner within their organization
More than 75% still have a “strong commitment” to it
Yet...
Only 11% of these organizations see their deployment as a success
Why is this?
The leading concern is around the lack of true information governance capabilities within SharePoint. This makes it challenging to address compliance and security concerns. Additionally, significant issues remain around utilizing SharePoint for workflow/business processes or case management tasks. Finally, confusion around how to leverage SharePoint Online and Office 365—whether as a standalone or hybrid model—has further contributed to the “content chaos” around SharePoint.
In order to be successful, you need an organizational content management strategy that provides IT with security and compliance, while giving end users an intuitive experience for increased adoption. Ideally, your ECM should include:
SharePoint integration and synchronization
Federated search
Automated records management
Universal Content Security—from SharePoint to Alfresco and external collaboration
Document processing including case management and capture
Integration with Office/Email 365
and more….
How we can help
This presentation will further discuss known issues around SharePoint. We will also identify ways your company can implement solutions that ensure security and user adoption—through integration with your existing SharePoint deployment. You will also have the opportunity to network with industry peers and talk with leaders in ECM solutions.
In this talk LeanIX CEO André Christ answers the questions:
- Why should you care about your company's future Enterprise Architecture (EA)?
- What are the factors of a successful EA tool implementation?
- How does EA and LeanIX work well together with tools like Apptio, ServiceNow or Confluence?
Attaining IoT Value: How To Move from Connecting Things to Capturing InsightsSustainable Brands
Cisco estimates that the Internet of Everything (IoE) — the networked connection of people, process, data, and things — will generate $19 trillion in Value at Stake for the private and public sectors combined between 2013 and 2022. More than 42 percent of this value — $8 trillion — will come from one of IoE’s chief enablers, the Internet of Things (IoT). Defined by Cisco as “the intelligent connectivity of physical devices, driving massive gains in efficiency, business growth, and quality of life,” IoT often represents the quickest path to IoE value for private and public sector organizations.
This paper combines original and secondary research, as well as economic analysis, to provide a roadmap for maximizing value from IoT investments. It also explains why, in the worlds of IoT and IoE, the combination of edge computing/analytics and data center/cloud is essential to driving actionable insights that produce improved business outcomes.
This talk is about data-driven transformation and its contribution to Digital transformation. The first part shows the necessity to adopt the "software revolution" to adapt constantly to the customer’s environment. I then speak about " Exponential Information Systems" that the the foundation for the data-driven ambitions : Enterprise-wide flows, Customer-time data freshness, Future-proof unified semantics, etc.
The last part talks about Exponential Technologies, such as Artificial intelligence and machine learning, to drive more value from data
Solving Content Chaos with Adhere for AlfrescoZia Consulting
In a recent ECM market study, 93% of respondents stated that they use SharePoint in some manner within their organization. In an interesting contradiction, only 11% of them see their SharePoint deployment as a success—and yet over 75% still have a “strong commitment” to SharePoint.
Does this sound familiar?
While it may seem counter-intuitive, for many organizations the best way to optimize their SharePoint deployment is with a modern ECM platform.
Join Alfresco & Zia Consulting for this presentation to learn how we are "Solving SharePoint" with an enterprise-class solution based on co-existence with SharePoint. The Adhere solution is built on Alfresco for document and records management and next-generation BPM/workflow, delivered in an offering that includes:
-SharePoint Integration and Synchronization
-Federated Search
-Automated Records Management
-Universal Content Security from SharePoint to Alfresco to External Collaboration
-Document Processing including Case Management and Capture

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.

Launch Your Streaming Platforms in MinutesRoshan Dwivedi
The claim of launching a streaming platform in minutes might be a bit of an exaggeration, but there are services that can significantly streamline the process. Here's a breakdown:
Pros of Speedy Streaming Platform Launch Services:
No coding required: These services often use drag-and-drop interfaces or pre-built templates, eliminating the need for programming knowledge.
Faster setup: Compared to building from scratch, these platforms can get you up and running much quicker.
All-in-one solutions: Many services offer features like content management systems (CMS), video players, and monetization tools, reducing the need for multiple integrations.
Things to Consider:
Limited customization: These platforms may offer less flexibility in design and functionality compared to custom-built solutions.
Scalability: As your audience grows, you might need to upgrade to a more robust platform or encounter limitations with the "quick launch" option.
Features: Carefully evaluate which features are included and if they meet your specific needs (e.g., live streaming, subscription options).
Examples of Services for Launching Streaming Platforms:
Muvi [muvi com]
Uscreen [usencreen tv]
Alternatives to Consider:
Existing Streaming platforms: Platforms like YouTube or Twitch might be suitable for basic streaming needs, though monetization options might be limited.
Custom Development: While more time-consuming, custom development offers the most control and flexibility for your platform.
Overall, launching a streaming platform in minutes might not be entirely realistic, but these services can significantly speed up the process compared to building from scratch. Carefully consider your needs and budget when choosing the best option for you.

Signore e signori.

the average worker only finds the information he needs 56% of the time. (44 percent of the time, workers can’t find the information required to do their jobs)
Given that workers spend nearly 36% of their time consolidating and looking for information, this dramatically impacts a company’s bottom line.

We also changed how we build applications
The last few months we have changed from har wired to configurable apps
By bringing together the case model of contracts, the process a user follows, and ui widgets we created a appliation template
This allows you to reconfigure the app
Biut also it allows us and 3rd parties to build new apps
We are invest more in this area of making apps being configurable templates
We call them smart apps because we want to make it smarter and easier fir users to solve problems but without comprozibg compliance
We are planning to take advantage of content analytics as well as capture and collaborative tools
