A rhetorical question is a question asked to make a point rather than to get an answer, as the answer is obvious or does not need to be stated directly. Some examples of rhetorical questions include "Are you crazy?", "Can you imagine that?", "If you poison us, do we not die?", "Aren't you ashamed of yourself?", and "How did that idiot ever become elected?". Rhetorical questions are used to create a stronger effect than directly stating a point.
