This document describes a proposed wireless livestock monitoring system to track vital signs and location of cattle herds. The system would use sensors to monitor temperature, heart/pulse rate, respiration, and location through wireless networks. Data from sensors on ear tags would be sent to access points and then to a base station where a user interface would display the information to farmers. The goal is to automatically monitor herd health to detect illnesses early and ensure cattle welfare.
