WORKING EXPERIENCE
Company : Sandvik mining
Position : Field Engineer
Year : 7th August 2010– 24th December,2013.
Responsibilities:
Carry Out the Following:
• Maintenance and repairs of faulty Sandvik drill rigs.
• Carried out preventive maintenance services at given period of time. Before
maintenance/servicing is carried out, risk assessment is performed, lock out system
and danger tags also put in place.During servicing, thorough checks are done for
defective parts, greasing, replacing clogged filters, check and stop oil leakages, check
hydraulic drilling pressures and make adjustments if necessary according to basic
settings
• General maintenance including part change out such as: feed rope, worn-out
centralizer jaws, defective cylinders, checking alignment, replacing worn-out track
chain and track rollers, replacing burst hydraulic hoses, resealing valves and
component.
• Carried out engine servicing, compressor, gear box, final drive at a given period of
time during which oils and filters are changed.
• Reading and interpretation of both hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematic
diagrams. Troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical problems.
• Control Area Network (CAN) is used to diagnose electronic faults for rectification
• Troubleshooting in the field of faults on Sandvik drill rigs. Some of the problems
found are: Faulty Air Flushing (corrected by checking compressor and air valves and
making repairs as necessary); Compressor Overheating (corrected by Checking oil
level and fill up if necessary, checking operation and condition of the thermostat, clean
the oil cooler, replace the filter element. Also checking the air filter and inlet duct for
leaks); Faulty Rotation (Rotation pump output can be tested by running the boom
movements because the boom cylinders get the required volume flow from the same
pump. The operation of rotation directional valve can be tested by a hand lever or a
spanner mounted to the valve. This mechanical test should be done before any other
actions. It can also be corrected by checking the condition of the rotation motor and
rotation valve block.
• . Faulty Percussion (percussion pump output can be tested by tramming the rig
because the drive motors get the required volume flow from the same pump.It can
also be corrected by checking the following components: accumulators,Pressure relief
and directional control valves, load sensing pressure and drilling pressure.
Equipment Worked On
Cubex 540,Solo,Tolo,Jumbo,Drill Tech D25Ks & D45Ks,Pantera 1500,1560 & DP1500i
3. Company : Golden Star Wassa Ltd
Position : Drill Rig Mechanic
Year : February,2010- August,2010
Responsibilities:
Perform Servicing and Repair of Equipment
• Change oil and filter, check for oil leaks and repair
• Check condition of equipment components: such as pump, ROD carriers, rotation
head, cylinders, control valves, lighting towers. If any problems are found, write
service tag and put on master key to prevent operator from operating machine. For
pumps, if leakage is found, seals are replaced. For ROD carriers, faulty sensors are
replaced. For rotation heads, leakages are stopped by replacing seals or O-rings, if
there is wear on the slides there will be play in the rotation head so the slides are
replaced. For the cylinders, if leakages are found, seals are replaced, burnt cylinder
rods are replaced; For control valves, if are found, seals are replaced; Burnt bulbs on
lighting towers are replaced.
• Basic welding of cracked parts or frames
• Fix basic electrical problems.

found are: Faulty Air Flushing (corrected by checking compressor and air valves and
making repairs as necessary); Compressor Overheating (check oil level and correct as
necessary or clean cooler if necessary); Faulty Rotation (internal leakages in main
valve are rectified, pump pressure is checked and if not correct the pump is replaced,
faulty sensor is replaced if necessary). Faulty Percussion (main valve leakages are
4. rectified, pump pressure is checked and if not correct the pump is replaced; if burst
accumulator diaphragm is found, it is replaced)
