Truckee Meadows Floodwall and Levee Project, Reno,
NV
Feasibility level design and cost estimates for thirty miles
of levels and floodwalls alongthe Truckee River between
Reno and Sparks,Nevada for the Army Corps of Engineers,
Sacramento District.Intergraph Inroadswas used to aid in
the civil design of the project. Features of the design
included digital terrain modeling, ortho-photos, plan and
profile drawings and aerial mosaic. Construction cost
estimate for the project is 150 million dollars.
Vista Grande Canal Flow Monitoring Study, Daly City, CA
A study was conducted for the City of Daly City on theVista
Grande Canal adjacentto Lake Merced in San Francisco to
determine the annual expected flow volume in the Canal
for possible diversion into Lake Merced. The purpose of
the diversion is to aid in the current trend reversal of
decreasinglakelevels.Flows weremeasured and analyzed
during the 1998-99-winter season. The study
demonstrated to the City of Daly City and to the San
Francisco Public Utilities Commission thatsufficientflows
occurred in the canal thatcould be diverted into the lake
to increasethe water surfaceelevation in the lake.
National Flood Insurance Program, Community Rating
System Application, Mountain View, CA
Prepared application for submittal to FEMA for the
Community Rating System for the City of Mountain View.
The application identified measures taken by the City that
will reduce the probability of negative impacts from
floodingwithin the City. The benefit to the Community is
lower flood insurancepremiums.
National Flood Insurance Program, Substantial
Improvement Procedure
Developed application and procedure for the City of
Mountain View for the determination of substantial
improvements in accordancewith FEMA’s National Flood
Insurance Program. A relational database was developed
in conjunction with GIS mappingto test the impact of the
procedure on the Community and the City’s workload.
Three thousand buildingpermitapplicationsweretested.
Northridge Earthquake Recovery, Pasadena, CA

assistanceby thepublic agencies thatsuffered earthquake
damage and prepareconstruction DamageSurvey Reports
(DSR’s), which established a construction scope of work
and construction funding criteria. Elements of the DSR
include: building damage repair scope of work, code
compliance, access compliance, environmental review,
historic review and hazard mitigation. During the project
design and construction phase responsibilities also
included design eligibility reviewand construction project
monitoring.
