Associate Justice Antonin Scalia
When Associate Justice Antonin Scalia perished in Texas from natural causes, the focus was on the
storm of controversy that was sparked by the now vacant space on the highest court in the nation,
rather than the great tragedy of an honorable and long serving government official passing away.
While this does paint a sorry picture of our nation s focus on who has the power rather than individual
s happiness, the altercation caused by the urgent, important, and pressing question of who should
appoint the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and who the next Associate Justice should by

The Relationship Between War, Territory, And Arms Races On...
As you look back into history you see that war is created for several different reasons. In this paper I
will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and arms races on a dyadic level of analysis.
Scholars have come to various conclusions on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss
and evaluate a few different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to
the creation of war between two interstates.
When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find several different
approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territory and war have long been related
between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you take a look at past wars and how territory has
played a major role in the escalation of conflict you will find several different angles to the situations.
One angle that has shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates.
When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the interstates are more likely
to have disputes with one another. You could also breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity,
interaction, and territoriality to get an in depth view of a matter.
In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed the effect that
contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of escalating a conflict into war. The
article broke down contiguity in terms based on

Hyperpluralism In California
A theory explains and can predict something. There are several theories that try to explain who
governs California and why. Of the several theories included in California politics, there is the
democratic theory, elite theory, pluralist theory, and hyperpluralism. Of these four theories, most tend
to be influenced by one theory as each as their own beliefs to better explain how politics works.
Hyperpluralism seems to do a better job at explaining the politics of California when compared to the
others. The democratic theory believes that everyone governs and has the most influence on politics in
California. According to the democratic theory, voters have their own power to decide what laws to
approve or disapprove by the state legislature. They also have the power to choose their own
legislation, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those two classes are the ones who rule and the second is the rest who do not rule. According to the
text, Government is always government by the few, whether in the name of the few, the one, or the
many (13). Those who make up the elites are generally the wealthier population. The Big Four is an
example of elites who used their political power to control those who do not have their own power.
The Big Four helped contribute to California s land development and growth.
In contrast, hyperpluralism is a theory that explains politics in a more relatable way. No one governs
instead power is thinly scattered . Lawrence states how the exercise of political power has become a
highly competitive tug of war between institutions, policymakers, political parties, numerous interest
groups, and voters (14). There are ample amounts of evidence in California politics. There are several
components that contribute to this evidence such as individualism in political life, growing diversity of
group interests, and a change in the nature of majoritarian

multiple colors, has piercings, tattoos, and much more. He is also known for his friendship with North
Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Considering Kim promotes to children, teens, and adults to hate
Americans, Dennis must have something special about him. Maybe it s that Dennis is so much more
unique then most people. It seems as society has made everyone similar, as if we re all in a loop. If
you don t act or dress a certain way then you re automatically an outcast. We almost have to follow

Causes Of Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by a disruption in the FMR1 gene and is the most
recurrent inherited form of intellectual disability (Bagni, et al., 2012). It can cause a variety of mental
effects ( Fragile X syndrome , 2017). For these reasons, Fragile X Syndrome has the chance of being a
model of translational neuroscience (Jayaseelan, Tenenbaum, 2012).
General Facts About Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a trinucleotide repeat expansion disorder where triple expansion is
preventing expansion of the FMR1 gene. (Bagni, et al., 2012; Fragile X syndrome , 2017). Regarding

The Difference Between Arial And Helvetica
The drive to the core of absence is also evident in the realm of type design. In 1932, Beatrice Warde,
an American typographic expert, published an essay The Crystal Goblet , or known as Printing Should
Be Invisible , insists on an invisible or transparent typography in order to elevate the printed words. In
her essay, Warde adopted a metaphor that the design for typefaces should be as transparent as crystal
glass for wine (Warde, 1936, p.6). A typeface, as a container, is calculated to reveal and not to hide the
beautiful content which it is meant to contain. The design of the container should not call undue notice
to itself. Her theory of invisible typefaces is in line with Modernist simplicity as well as functionality,

They both are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different applications. At first
glance, they seem extremely similar. But if designers examine the characters in each typeface closely,
the differences between them become apparent. Mark Simonson, an American graphic designer,
produced an analysis of these two typefaces, showing how much more refined Helvetica than that of
Arial (Simonson, 2001). The primary difference between the two is the treatments of their endings.
While Helvetica is vertically cut, Arial is slightly angled. For instance, the tail of the a is gently curved
in Helvetica, as is the first connection of the bowl to the stem, but not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the
t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are perfectly horizontal in the former, but slightly angled in
the latter. Even though the distinguishing details are so tiny that cannot be noticed unless they are
scrutinized as Simonson has done. Yet it is these subtleties that constitute Helvetica a finer example of
design than Arial, especially for professionals. Functionally the two types are roughly equal, both are
admirably clear, but aesthetically Helvetica is

Wall-E Vs Petney
Wall e versus Sonny: The Industrial Robot and Humanoid A lot of people associate themselves with
robots. There are instances where people make robots for a living, or program a type of chip or circuit
board that are installed in robots. However, the main reason why we know about robots is because of
movies. A lot of movies depict robots as being mechanical creatures that somehow upsets the balance
of earth and cause mass destruction, or is depicted as serving their masters. We often think about
industrial robots. This is mainly because of industrial plants. We think of them as taking over our jobs.
For instance, the movie Wall e depicts an industrial robot picking garbage. Although humanoids aren t

humanoid robots are made for different types of interactions. Some humanoid robots are especially

facial expressions and emotions that children emit. Yes, humans can also detect signs, but if
programmed correctly, humanoids can detect the smallest facial cues that humans often miss

the physical world much better than the social world (O Brien). There is a humanoid named Russell.
Russell works with autistic children by helping them strengthen their ability to imitate others. It is a
skill that is important for learning. Russell is developed so he isn t complex. He is programmed to

Fire and Ice by Robert Frost Essay example
Fire and Ice by Robert Frost
The poem Fire and Ice is a poem written by Robert Frost, and published in 1923. This is a nine line
poem:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I have tasted of desire,
I hold those who favor ice.
But if I had to parish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice. This is one of Robert Frost simplest poems. When I initially read this poem, the
first thing that came to my mind was the biblical theory. In the second line Some say in ice furthered
my theory. In the Bible it is told that God destroyed Earth with water the first time he came to get his
people (the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was thinking that Frost wanted to basically put a question on our minds, If you had to choose a way
to die would you choose fire or ice? In lines seven through nine, To say that destruction ice is also
great and would suffice . To me this is saying you would have to choose the lesser of the two evils.
Weighting the pros and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow death or a hot
slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he picks they are both
going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem better I took each word as if it
symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and four, From what I ve tasted of desire I hold those
who favor fire it led me to believe that Frost was trying to use desire as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can
usually be used a negative or a positive manner depending on the context it s use. In the poem I think
that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is uses words like end, perish, and destruction in
the poem. Negatively the word desire can mean the drive to win or receive something at any cost, the
urge for power, which is very destructive. In lines six and nine I think I know enough of hate to say
that for destruction ice is also great and would suffice . Saying that ice is a metaphor to hate. The word
hate is worldly known to have a negative condensation. Hate is also

William Shakespeare s King Lear
In the beginning of Shakespeare s play King Lear, the Duke of Albany is very gray. If the reader were
to look up the definition of sitting on the fence in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Albany
next to it. Although the character Albany begins the play as a complacent character, his character
matures greatly throughout the play. By the end of the play, he is one of the only characters left alive
and he becomes king of England. Shakespeare s character Albany in King Lear shows questionable
character traits in the beginning; but in the end, he shows his worthiness to rule the kingdom. One of
the more questionable character traits Albany shows in the beginning would be submissiveness. With
no effort to show any leadership, Albany has a total of nine lines through the first three acts of the
play. Why does he have so little? Many people would argue that his lack of dialogue is because of his
mild tempered attitude, but he does not say anything because he is blind meaning he does not see and
understand what is happening around him. This trait of submissiveness in Albany is further
emphasized by the fact that three scenes out of the first act happen at his castle and he does not even
speak except for a couple lines. And even when he does speak, his speech is simple one liners such as,
Now, gods that we adore, wherof comes this? or What s the matter, sir? Albany does not understand
the gravity of the situations going on around him. He just does what he is

It also allowed black men to join the Union Army and Navy, enabling the liberated to become
liberators. (The Emancipation Proclamation) The big change in slavery and the fight for equality did
not come until the Thirteenth Amendment was passed by Congress on January 31, 1865 and ratified
by the states on December 6, 1865. With this event, it was declared that neither slavery nor
involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly
convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. (13th
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution) Although this Amendment did give slaves their freedom, it did
not guarantee them the same rights nor the same treatment that other citizens of the United States had
and took for granted. This was especially seen in the states that enacted black codes that were intended
to limit the civil rights of the newly free slaves. (Civil Rights) These black codes and the obvious
difference in treatment were a large issue, and they were later addressed in the Constitution with the
introduction of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendment. The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified on
July 9, 1868 and it made large changes for black individuals. This Amendment granted citizenship to
all persons born or naturalized in the United States, which included former slaves recently freed. (14th

B2B vs.B2C Marketing Differences
B2B vs. B2C Marketing
Marketing differs between business to business and business to consumer in a few different ways the
main one is the emotional experience of the buyer. The marketing programs are the same, which
includes: events, direct marketing, internet marketing, advertising, public relations, word of mouth and
alliance. The difference is how each marketing program is executed, what is said in the program, and
the outcome.
Business to Business or B2B marketing and Business to Consumer or B2C marketing follow different
rules but the outcome is still to sell the product or service to who needs or wants the item. Below is a
listing of how the marketing needs to think to market to the target group they are after.

Market Structure Of An Economics Perspective Essay
Introduction
Market structure from an economics perspective is defined as the characteristics of the market that
impacts the behavior or way firms operate, which economists use to determine the nature of
competition, and pricing tactics of businesses in the market. Within a market, the market structures are
distinguished by key features, including the number of sellers, homogeneous or differentiated goods or
services produced, pricing power, level of competition, barriers to entering or exit the markets,
efficiency, and profits. The interaction and differences among these features resulted in four market
structures of competition: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly.
Economist assembled the four market structures into two groups; perfectly competitive market and
imperfectly competitive market, which are vastly distinct when it come to the different market
competitions that need to be satisfied.
A major issue for existing firms in some market structures is the entry of new competitors, and this is
because of the potentially unfavorable effects new participants might have on the market s real
revenue and profits. Entry barriers are specifically designed to prevent new competitors from entering
a profitable market freely. Based on the level of barriers, it can be relatively easy or difficult for new
firms to enter the market. Therefore, high entry barriers may have a positive or negative influence a
firm s long run profitability, cost

The Soldier s Return By Robert Burns
Born in rural Ayrshire in 1759, Robert Burns grew up in a small home with his large family. By the
age of twenty seven, Burns had published his first form of writing. In the midst of his success, Burns
was treated as a national celebrity in Scotland. All of his sudden fame was credited to him being the
first poet known to stay true to his beliefs, whether he was expressing his principles through writing or
living faithfully by them. One of the topics that Robert Burns enjoyed to comment on through his
poems is the urge for independent liberties that came as a result from the fight for freedom (Crawford
6). Burns writes The Soldier s Return in 1793, which portrays all of his thoughts towards the
mistreatment of soldiers. The poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the mistreatment of soldiers. Robert Burns is considered as an extremely nationalistic poet. He is
extremely fond of highlighting points that society can improve upon. Many individuals see Burns as a
man who devotes his time to bringing attention to the idealistic values of his people through their
harsh realities. Robert Burns Poetry, an online article authored by Mary Ellen Brown, states the

There are many ways the government uses surveillance; one way is by using Spy drones. Spy drones
are used to fly around the United States and check on the country for anything unusual, including drug

drones are protecting Americans they are clearly invading privacy and breaking the Fourth

thought of someone flying drones over everyone s head without anyone knowing while they take

Dbq Essay On Childhood And Divorce
Fatherhood Divorce Where you stand depends on where you sit. Have you ever heard that saying? It
means your opinion about a situation can be based on your own experience (or lack of experience)
with it. For example, up until the day my wife said our marriage was over, I assumed many of my
friends got divorced because of their work prioritization, activities, or some other faulty decisions they
made. Today, I m divorced and sitting on the other side the issue. I realize that divorce can happen to
anyone due to any number of causes. Divorce can be the result of sudden, clearly recognizable events
or slow building, almost imperceptible issues which erode the foundation of marriage over time. It
seems that for many men, the choice to divorce isn t theirs because about 70% of divorces today are
initiated by women.[1] While we may not have the power to stay married, we do have the power to
define our role as a parent after a divorce. Defining that role begins with understanding the baseline
and the changes ahead. Self Assessment Fathers today spend more time taking care of their children
compared to previous generations. Even with these gains, today s mothers devote almost double the

Let me introduce Bandara. Bandara has been working as the number two in a medium sized
organization for ten years. It has always been intimated that when Jeremy his boss retires or leaves,
Bandara will slip into the number one position and lead the organization. Barry has always had some
clear ideas on how he is going to take the organization forward when Jeremy is not there; ideas that
have not been taken up in the past.
Life being perverse, it had been decided to advertise the job externally and guess what? A better
candidate came up who has now been in post for three weeks. Bandera s new boss is a great guy, very
friendly and supportive . . . but, he is not Barry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Counsellor: Bandara, if I were in your position, what would you advise me to do?
Well done again counsellor. Getting an objective view on this.
Bandara: Well that is simple. Think through the ideas you have always had, refine them and get them
out of your head and onto paper (or a Word document). Not too long. Do not spend too much time on
it and keep it very brief an overview. Arrange to see the new number one, preferably off site at a
neutral venue, and tell him that you have always had these ideas but never shared then and you would
now like to share them and if anything was that good, maybe the organization can adopt them.
You will either get an acceptance, in which case you will achieve what you have always wanted or you
will have a debate as to what can or cannot be adopted and you will have at least cleared the air for
yourself.
Counsellor: So Bandara what are you going to do?
Bandara: Crafty you have got me to resolve my own dilemma. Clearly, I shall take my own advice and
do just what I have recommended.
Thanks sir. I have gone from tragic to magic as Walt Disney would say and it s all down to you.
Thanks.
Not crafty, just a great counselling session. The counsellor was faced with what appeared to be a
somewhat intractable problem which was solved by some excellent

Active-Learning Theories
How will you plan to provide specific feedback to students on their progress toward reaching the
lesson objective?
I will observe the students in my small group center to determine if they are meeting the objective. I
will give specific verbal feedback about what they need to work on and what they are doing well. For
example, if students are not using complete sentences, I will ask the students how they could make
that into a complete sentence. I will ask students if they are using a capital letter and a period in each
sentence as well. I will collect their worksheets to understand how they did with the objective and
provide feedback on their ideas. To help students learn more about presidents and what George

Expectations for Student Behavior: Describe how your students will be intellectually engaged. How
will you communicate expectations for them? How will you follow up on behavior expectations and
how well you are engaging learners?
Students will be intellectually engaged through the prompts that are given to create their complete
sentences about being president of the U.S. This also allows students to really think about what they
could do if they were the president and allows room for brainstorming and the imagination. They will
also work together with their peers to identify two facts about each of the two presidents we are
learning about. I will then provide further information on the two presidents by having students listen
to the facts. I will communicate expectations by verbally telling students what they will be doing and
the instructions of the lesson activity. I will follow up on behavior expectations by having students
who are being disrespectful or not listening to take a break or to sit next to me at the table. After the
student is ready to learn, they will be allowed to come back to the table with the group on continue on
their worksheet. I believe I am engaging my students well due to the prompting of writing and
coloring as well. By having students color and write, they are using different materials and are able to

Exploitation of Imagery in The Dead and Araby by James Joyce
James Joyce, the author of both Araby and The Dead, exploits a sense of imagery throughout both
short stories. Araby and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is
shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is applied to express feelings and expressions from one character
to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has an undying admiration for Mangan s sister.
James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast imagery. The Dead also
includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery.
Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension. In
The Dead, Gabriel, the main character, dislikes the country of Ireland he lives in, so he flees.
Throughout this, Gabriel describes how Ireland is boring and cold, displaying kinesthetic imagery. The
Dead and Araby both include vivid imagery, kinesthetic imagery, and auditory imagery.
Vivid imagery can be seen all throughout Araby. Vivid imagery is detailed writing that gives you a
sense of an image while you read. The story begins with North Richmond Street, being blind, was a
quiet street and continues to say, An uninhabited house of two storeys stood at the blind end, detached
from its neighbours in a square ground. The other houses of the street, conscious of decent lives within
them, gazed at one another with brown imperturbable faces ( Araby 1019). The way this imagery is
used shows

Revolutionary War Facts
In this section of American Revolutionary War Facts you will find a list of interesting facts about the
events leading to the American Revolution. You will see how a series of events that began after the
end of the French and Indian War in 1763 gradually led to open warfare which resulted in
independence for the Americans. The men and women who colonized the New World did so because
they desired opportunity for themselves and their kids and desired a level of freedom. They were
generally not the type of people who would tolerate these things being taken away from them. Prior to
the end of the French and Indian War Brittan pretty much did not interfere with the American colonist
and were very lax with many of the regulations that were in place.

Analysis Of David And Goliath s The Giants Game
Thesis
David and Goliath is a book that talks about what happens when everyday people confront giants.
Sometimes what we think is an advantage becomes a disadvantage. We realize that weakness becomes
a strength as we learn to compensate for it. Trying to play the Giants game is rarely successful. To win
against the Giants you have to try different strategies. Underdogs fight differently that giants do. When
you face you giants these are some possible things that may happen when we face our giants.
Introduction
You have to adopt a different strategy to win. In life we often miss read the odds, assuming they are
deeply stacked against them. In life the qualities that give us strength are the same as when we show
our fear. It is tough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes doing what you think is best is the right thing to do.
When we think dyslexia, we immediately cast the victim as the underdog in most situations. The
reason why we do so is because we think in order to be successful in this competitive world, you have
to be able to do everything better than your competitor does. When in reality you do not have to.
David Boies, a world renowned lawyer, had dyslexia. But he realized his weakness and made it his
strength. Beginning at a young age, Boies realized he had a hard time reading, but instead of giving
up, he tried harder. Boies would listen carefully and contently as someone spoke and his memory
became a formidable instrument. This was Boies greatest strength: his ability to listen and keep
everything he heard in his memory. Boies and many other dyslexics were not always successful at
doing so. For example, Gary Cohn had discovered that he failed more than he succeeded. Gary
realized that accepting the chance of failure made his life a whole lot easier, and sometimes more
exciting. At a young age, he made a fateful decision to jump in a cab with a stock broker, who
happened to be very high up in the ranks, and within an hour he was able to manipulate this man into
believing that he was a successful options trader. The man bit the bait hook line and sinker, landing
him a job and setting him up for a

Democratic Debate Sketch From The Saturday Night Live
The piece of satire that I will talk about in this paper is the Democratic debate sketch from the
Saturday Night Live episode that aired on October 17, 2015. The main message of this sketch was that
the only Democratic Candidates that receive attention and matter are Bernie Sanders and Hillary
Clinton. This program was successful because they only asked the two of them questions and at the
beginning they were called the real candidates (October). This sketch starts with the candidates
introducing themselves. Martin O Malley is first, then Lincoln Chafee followed by Jim Webb. After
Webb introduces himself the moderator says they will now introduce the real candidates (October)
meaning Sanders and Clinton. Clinton is confident that she will win the presidency. When Sanders is
introduced he does not give much background on who he is but instead says that the country is
doomed. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Webb seems to be confident in himself it is clear that the moderator does not believe he
is relevant in the race. At the end of the debate Chafee also says that he dominated the debate even
though he did not talk at all (October). This shows that he might also think that he is in the race even
though the moderator does not believe so. This sketch was very successful in getting the message
across. It was successful because by having the moderator only ask Sanders and Clinton questions it
was very obvious that they are the main candidates in the democratic race. By having Clinton say that
she thought she would easily win the election helps add to the successfulness of the sketch because it
shows that even she knows that she is one of the only candidates that any citizens pay attention to

is violence occurring all over the stores just to get what these shoppers desire, causing an abundant
amount of severe injuries as a result of the chaotic state of mind. Specifically, people are fighting each

Pilgrimage Is A Journey, Right Of Passage And Sacred...
Pilgrimage is a journey, right of passage and sacred experience for many religions. The person
partaking in the pilgrimage embark as one person and come back another. For some it is the journey
that is the feat rather than the destination, however for most the destination of the pilgrimage is holy or
sacred and the destination is just the beginning of what the pilgrimage is about. Pilgrims come from
all over to see the holy site and will perform many tasks and actions to reach a state of enlightenment.
The Islamic faith practices the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, this is called the Hajj. The
Pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam. The four other pillars include Shahadah, Salah,
Zakat and Sawm. Shahadah means profession of faith, Muslims must recite the creed There is no God
but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God. (Zahid) These words show their devout acceptance
and solidifies their commitment to the religion. The second pillar, Salah, is all about prayer. The
Islamic faith requires prayer daily and the number of times is based on your affiliation with either the
Shi a or the Sunni. Almsgiving, or the giving of gifts or money, is the third pillar and is called Zakat.
Sawm is the fasting ritual muslims practice. This is done in the month of Ramadan and is an
expression of self restraint. The Qur an states O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it

Presidential Research Paper
President Harry S. Truman wasn t only just a president, he was a US army soldier, a democratic
senator, presiding judge, and a vice president. Before his presidency, he fought in World War 1.
Recapping his roles before the presidency, once the war ended, Truman got discharged from the army
and then went to attend Kansas City school of law. This is when he was on the road to becoming
president. In 1933 Franklin d Roosevelt was elected 32nd president. Harry S. got elected presiding
judge of the Jackson County Court and then was sworn in. He served two four year terms through
1934 as a judge. During this time Harry Truman became a U.S. senator by 1935. On August 31, 1944
Truman commences his vice presidential campaign from where he was born Lamar, Missouri. Shortly
afterwards, Truman was elected vice president on November 7 of the same year.
Following the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman was sworn in as thirty third president of
the United States of America on April 12, 1945. A day after Germany surrendered to the Allies,
Truman called for the end of the war in Europe; this is known as V E Day, aka Victory in Europe Day.
This is now a public holiday celebrated on May 8th 1945. World War II (1939 19455) had been going
on before Truman got into office as president. Although he wasn t in office when it started, he had
been in office when it ended. August 6, 1945 was the day Truman called for

This technique is used to layer foreground and background images based on color hues or the chroma
range. The CGI technician layers the computer modelling around the actor. Programs such as
PhotoKey 6 Pro make it possible to render the images seemlessly. Being a CGI technician requires
computer knowledge and takes hours to edit and add in the actors into the computer generated world.
An example of a seemless CGI movie is Avatar which cost $425,000,000 to make but grossed $2.7
Billion worldwide (www.the numbers.com/movie/budgets/). For every 1/24 of a second or one frame
of film it took 47 hours of rendering (www.imdb.com/title/tt0499549/trivia). There are specialized
training school for Special Effects Technicians, such as the Art institute with multiple locations across
the country and a few in California.. A College degree is not required it is common especially in the
area of CGI. A Pyrotechnician must be certified by the state that they work in and pass a Pyrotechnic
safety and handling course. The Physical Effects Technician should have a firm grasp of art styles and
art mediums. Now that we know what a Special Effects Technician does, what kind of monetary
compensation do they earn. A person can specialize in one or more areas of expertise.
Their earnings vary due to geographic location. Since a large majority of the special effects are used in
movies, California offers the highest yearly wage of $85,000 per year,New York has a range of

He went to Samaskolan High School, and still he was struggling in school. Felix lost connections and

The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Despite the variety of genres that Philip Pullman has explored from historical fiction to fantasy which
have lead to a plethora of criticism, Pullman writes enchanting tales first and foremost for his audience
s enjoyment. In an interview discussing the teaching of children s literature Pullman humbly requests
to let the children enjoy the books before doing anything else, before counting semicolons, looking at
specific adjectives etc. His books are written to enchant, delight and beguile the read to be enjoyed
after, not during. (Scholastic). Margo Jefferson praises his writing saying If you are going to preface
your books with passages from Milton, Rilke and John Ashbery, then you had better write well.
Pullman does. His prose has texture and flexibility, like excellent fabric. And he gives us so much.
Suspense of course, but such degrees of pleasure, excitement (the excitement of meeting characters,
not just adventurers) and grief (Jefferson). While he incorporates various sophisticated literary
elements in each of his pieces, his works are for those who pick up his books despite their ability to
reference Milton or the Bible. Even though he is Oxford educated like Tolkien and Lewis, his unique
upbringing has molded his writing to starkly contrast his writing from that of his colleagues. In The
Broken Bridge, Clockwork, and The Golden Compass, one can appreciate the unique experience
Philip Pullman presents to his readers through his literary allusions, themes and

  • 2. Associate Justice Antonin Scalia When Associate Justice Antonin Scalia perished in Texas from natural causes, the focus was on the storm of controversy that was sparked by the now vacant space on the highest court in the nation, rather than the great tragedy of an honorable and long serving government official passing away. While this does paint a sorry picture of our nation s focus on who has the power rather than individual s happiness, the altercation caused by the urgent, important, and pressing question of who should appoint the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and who the next Associate Justice should by is in many ways essential to what our country s main policies become in the next fifty years. • 3. The Relationship Between War, Territory, And Arms Races On... As you look back into history you see that war is created for several different reasons. In this paper I will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and arms races on a dyadic level of analysis. Scholars have come to various conclusions on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss and evaluate a few different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to the creation of war between two interstates. When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find several different approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territory and war have long been related between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you take a look at past wars and how territory has played a major role in the escalation of conflict you will find several different angles to the situations. One angle that has shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates. When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the interstates are more likely to have disputes with one another. You could also breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity, interaction, and territoriality to get an in depth view of a matter. In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed the effect that contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of escalating a conflict into war. The article broke down contiguity in terms based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hyperpluralism In California A theory explains and can predict something. There are several theories that try to explain who governs California and why. Of the several theories included in California politics, there is the democratic theory, elite theory, pluralist theory, and hyperpluralism. Of these four theories, most tend to be influenced by one theory as each as their own beliefs to better explain how politics works. Hyperpluralism seems to do a better job at explaining the politics of California when compared to the others. The democratic theory believes that everyone governs and has the most influence on politics in California. According to the democratic theory, voters have their own power to decide what laws to approve or disapprove by the state legislature. They also have the power to choose their own legislation, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those two classes are the ones who rule and the second is the rest who do not rule. According to the text, Government is always government by the few, whether in the name of the few, the one, or the many (13). Those who make up the elites are generally the wealthier population. The Big Four is an example of elites who used their political power to control those who do not have their own power. The Big Four helped contribute to California s land development and growth. In contrast, hyperpluralism is a theory that explains politics in a more relatable way. No one governs instead power is thinly scattered . Lawrence states how the exercise of political power has become a highly competitive tug of war between institutions, policymakers, political parties, numerous interest groups, and voters (14). There are ample amounts of evidence in California politics. There are several components that contribute to this evidence such as individualism in political life, growing diversity of group interests, and a change in the nature of majoritarian ... He is also known for his friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Considering Kim promotes to children, teens, and adults to hate Americans, Dennis must have something special about him. Maybe it s that Dennis is so much more unique then most people. It seems as society has made everyone similar, as if we re all in a loop. If you don t act or dress a certain way then you re automatically an outcast. We almost have to follow rules in order to fit in. Dennis Rodman discarded all these rules society made and decided to be himself, to stand out from everyone else. Dennis rodman should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Difference Between Arial And Helvetica The drive to the core of absence is also evident in the realm of type design. In 1932, Beatrice Warde, an American typographic expert, published an essay The Crystal Goblet , or known as Printing Should Be Invisible , insists on an invisible or transparent typography in order to elevate the printed words. In her essay, Warde adopted a metaphor that the design for typefaces should be as transparent as crystal glass for wine (Warde, 1936, p.6). A typeface, as a container, is calculated to reveal and not to hide the beautiful content which it is meant to contain. The design of the container should not call undue notice to itself. Her theory of invisible typefaces is in line with Modernist simplicity as well as functionality, which perfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different applications. At first glance, they seem extremely similar. But if designers examine the characters in each typeface closely, the differences between them become apparent. Mark Simonson, an American graphic designer, produced an analysis of these two typefaces, showing how much more refined Helvetica than that of Arial (Simonson, 2001). The primary difference between the two is the treatments of their endings. While Helvetica is vertically cut, Arial is slightly angled. For instance, the tail of the a is gently curved in Helvetica, as is the first connection of the bowl to the stem, but not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are perfectly horizontal in the former, but slightly angled in the latter. Even though the distinguishing details are so tiny that cannot be noticed unless they are scrutinized as Simonson has done. Yet it is these subtleties that constitute Helvetica a finer example of design than Arial, especially for professionals. Functionally the two types are roughly equal, both are admirably clear, but aesthetically Helvetica is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A lot of movies depict robots as being mechanical creatures that somehow upsets the balance of earth and cause mass destruction, or is depicted as serving their masters. This is a nine line poem: Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I have tasted of desire, I hold those who favor ice. But if I had to parish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. This is one of Robert Frost simplest poems. Weighting the pros and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow death or a hot slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he picks they are both going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem better I took each word as if it symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and four, From what I ve tasted of desire I hold those who favor fire it led me to believe that Frost was trying to use desire as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can usually be used a negative or a positive manner depending on the context it s use. In the poem I think that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is uses words like end, perish, and destruction in the poem. Negatively the word desire can mean the drive to win or receive something at any cost, the urge for power, which is very destructive. • 12. William Shakespeare s King Lear In the beginning of Shakespeare s play King Lear, the Duke of Albany is very gray. If the reader were to look up the definition of sitting on the fence in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Albany next to it. Although the character Albany begins the play as a complacent character, his character matures greatly throughout the play. By the end of the play, he is one of the only characters left alive and he becomes king of England. Shakespeare s character Albany in King Lear shows questionable character traits in the beginning; but in the end, he shows his worthiness to rule the kingdom. One of the more questionable character traits Albany shows in the beginning would be submissiveness. With no effort to show any leadership, Albany has a total of nine lines through the first three acts of the play. Why does he have so little? Many people would argue that his lack of dialogue is because of his mild tempered attitude, but he does not say anything because he is blind meaning he does not see and understand what is happening around him. This trait of submissiveness in Albany is further emphasized by the fact that three scenes out of the first act happen at his castle and he does not even speak except for a couple lines. And even when he does speak, his speech is simple one liners such as, Now, gods that we adore, wherof comes this? or What s the matter, sir? • 15. Market Structure Of An Economics Perspective Essay Introduction Market structure from an economics perspective is defined as the characteristics of the market that impacts the behavior or way firms operate, which economists use to determine the nature of competition, and pricing tactics of businesses in the market. Within a market, the market structures are distinguished by key features, including the number of sellers, homogeneous or differentiated goods or services produced, pricing power, level of competition, barriers to entering or exit the markets, efficiency, and profits. The interaction and differences among these features resulted in four market structures of competition: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Economist assembled the four market structures into two groups; perfectly competitive market and imperfectly competitive market, which are vastly distinct when it come to the different market competitions that need to be satisfied. A major issue for existing firms in some market structures is the entry of new competitors, and this is because of the potentially unfavorable effects new participants might have on the market s real revenue and profits. Entry barriers are specifically designed to prevent new competitors from entering a profitable market freely. • 24. Exploitation of Imagery in The Dead and Araby by James Joyce James Joyce, the author of both Araby and The Dead, exploits a sense of imagery throughout both short stories. Araby and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is applied to express feelings and expressions from one character to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has an undying admiration for Mangan s sister. James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast imagery. The Dead also includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery. Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension. In The Dead, Gabriel, the main character, dislikes the country of Ireland he lives in, so he flees. Throughout this, Gabriel describes how Ireland is boring and cold, displaying kinesthetic imagery. The Dead and Araby both include vivid imagery, kinesthetic imagery, and auditory imagery. Vivid imagery can be seen all throughout Araby. Vivid imagery is detailed writing that gives you a sense of an image while you read. The story begins with North Richmond Street, being blind, was a quiet street and continues to say, An uninhabited house of two storeys stood at the blind end, detached from its neighbours in a square ground.
