How to write effective research project abstractEtieneIma123
A research project is much more than just a summary of a topic with credible or valid sources, but it is an extended article that presents a writer's understanding and assessment or argument. The purpose of writing this project is to analyze a perspective or argue a point, consequently exhibiting your knowledge, writing and vocabulary skills, and ability to do great research on a given project topic.
One of the crucial part of the thesis and research paper is to write Abstract. We can also write Executive Summary instead of Abstract in business context. The readers and business entities mostly read/check the Abstract of the research article and then decide whether to purchase or not? these few slide will help you to understand the written of Abstract for research articles.

OFFICE OF INSTRUCTION
HLC Academy – Writing Across the Curriculum at Mohave Rubric
The A paper The B paper The C paper The D paper The F paper
Ideas Excels in responding to assignment.
Interesting, demonstrates sophistication of
thought. Central idea/thesis is clearly
communicated, worth developing; limited
enough to be manageable. Paper
recognizes some complexity of its thesis:
may acknowledge its contradictions,
qualifications, or limits and follow out their
logical implications. Understands and
critically evaluates its sources,
appropriately limits and defines terms.
A solid paper, responding appropriately
to assignment. Clearly states a
thesis/central idea, but may have minor
lapses in development. Begins to
acknowledge the complexity of central
idea and the possibility of other points
of view. Shows careful reading of
sources, but may not evaluate them
critically. Attempts to define terms, not
always successful.
Adequate but weaker and less
effective, possibly responding less
well to assignment. Presents central
idea in general terms, often
depending on platitudes or clichés.
Usually does not acknowledge other
views. Shows basic comprehension
of sources, perhaps with lapses in
understanding. If it defines terms,
often depends on dictionary
definition.
Does not have a clear central idea
or does not respond appropriately
to the assignment. Thesis may be
too vague or obvious to be
developed effectively. Paper may
misunderstand sources.
Does not respond to the
assignment, lacks a thesis or central
idea, and may neglect to use
sources where necessary.
Organization &
coherence
Uses a logical structure appropriate to
paper’s subject, purpose, audience, thesis,
and disciplinary field. Sophisticated
transitional sentences often develop one
idea from the previous one or identify their
logical relations. It guides the reader
through the chain of reasoning or
progression of ideas.
Shows a logical progression of ideas and
uses fairly sophisticated transitional
devices; e.g., may move from least to
more important idea. Some logical links
may be faulty, but each paragraph
clearly relates to paper’s central idea.
May list ideas or arrange them
randomly rather than using any
evident logical structure. May use
transitions, but they are likely to be
sequential (first, second, third) rather
than logic-based. While each
paragraph may relate to central idea,
logic is not always clear. Paragraphs
have topic sentences but may be
overly general, and arrangement of
sentences within paragraphs may
lack coherence.
May have random organization,
lacking internal paragraph
coherence and using few or
inappropriate transitions.
Paragraphs may lack topic
sentences or main ideas, or may be
too general or too specific to be
effective. Paragraphs may not all
relate to paper’s thesis.
No appreciable organization; lacks
transitions and coherence.
Support.
PSYC 2301 & PSYC 2319 Semester Assignment3
PSYC 2301 & PSYC 2319 SEMESTER ASSIGNMENT
ARTICLE CRITIQUE
Purpose:
This assignment is to help the student improve his/her ability to use a library database to locate primary references, to improve their ability to paraphrase information, to create a more objective mindset in evaluating data, and to develop a document using a scientific approach to writing (American Psychological Association (APA) style). Please be aware that it IS NOT POSSIBLE to pass this course without doing this assignment.
Components:
Step 1: Database Assignment: Locate the Psychology Research Guide through the El Centro Library website, and using one of the two databases listed to locate a professional, research based, journal article from a psychology related journal. To qualify: the journal must be a professional (not student) psychology academic journal, must be published in the past five years, and must be research-oriented. The article must have full text availability and must have references. You may seek the help of a librarian, but you must be able to locate the article yourself if asked to do so. You MUST upload your article to the appropriate eCampus link for my approval BEFORE you proceed with the rest of the assignment.
Step 2: Creating a Cover Page and a References Page: In this assignment you are asked to create a cover page and a reference page based on the article you selected from the library database. Once you begin this assignment, you must use the article you selected for the rest of the semester. The cover page and the references page must adhere to APA standards, and they will be graded accordingly. The Cover page must have an APA running head and title which are appropriately related to the content of the article. The running head must also be placed correctly formatted on all pages of the assignment as shown on the template. The Title Page must accurately contain the required information as detailed on the template. The Reference Page must present author name(s) and initials, year of publication, title of article, title of journal, volume number, issue number, page numbers, and the digital object identifier (DOI) if available. You are required to place this in the appropriate APA style, double spaced and with a hanging indentation of .5 inches. Title and Reference pages that are not correctly done according to APA style will not be accepted and must be redone before moving on to the next step of the overall assignment.
Step 3: Writing an Introduction: In this assignment, you must indicate why the authors considered this to be important research and why they approached the topic as they did. This assignment is expected to involve a full page and must include appropriate citations, including both parenthetical and non-parenthetical citations.
Step 4: Writing the Summary: Provide an in-depth summary of the article. This must include the who, what, when, where, and how of the articl ...

Preparing the next generation of security professionals through curriculum and teaching excellence.
At this level, you are learning the core concepts of the discipline and you will produce a
graduate level paper that presents a research “puzzle” relevant to the subject matter of this
class. The paper will be 10-15 pages in length.
The requirements for this project will mirror the requirements for all graduate papers. The
paper will be typed in 12 pt. Times New Roman, Calibri, or other standard font, with margins of
1” all around. It will be double-spaced except where the format calls for single spacing, for
example, block quotations and the list of complete citations. Citations will conform to the
Turabian format whether you choose to use the Parenthetical/References style or the more
traditional Foot- or end-notes/Bibliography style. To recap the Format of the Paper:
• Title Page of the Paper. The title of your paper should be brief but should adequately
inform the reader of your general topic and the specific focus of your research. Keywords
relating to parameters, population, and other specifics are useful. ALWAYS use a Title Page for
graduate work! Your title page will include the title, name, course name and number, and
Professor’s Name.
I. Introduction, Research Question, and Hypothesis (1-2 pages): This section shall
provide an overview of the topic that you are writing about, a concise synopsis of the issues,
and why the topic presents a “puzzle” that prompts your research questions, which you will
include. This section can be preceded by an epigraph that creates interest in the topic. We
encourage the use of epigraphs, but please follow the proper format for epigraphs!!
II. Review of the Literature (3-5 pages): All research projects include a literature review to
set out for the reader what knowledge exists on the subject under study and helps the
researcher develop the research strategy to use in the study. A good literature review is a
thoughtful study of what has been written, a summary of the arguments that exist (whether
you agree with them or not), and are arranged thematically. The literature review is not an
annotated bibliography and should be written in coherent narrative style. At the end of the
summary, there should still be gaps in the literature that you intend to fill with your research.

Research Questions
Research questions are developed to help guide the authors through the literature for a given problem area. What were the open-ended questions asked and why did you find (or not find) them adequate. Relevance and Significance
Consider the following questions as you read through the article and state how the author.
Presenting is an art. One of the most common purposes of a presentation is to convey your ideas. This can be done effectively by leveraging verbal and visual aids. Verbal support involves the use of language. On the other hand, visual support is devoid of the use of language.

Paragraph development is the core essence of writing. When developing paragraphs, begin with a topic sentence followed by supporting details (examples, anecdotes, details, and facts and figures). In the process and chronology, the sequence plays a pivotal role hence the listing signals and enumerators are of a special kind, generally not found in common enumerations.
Psychology has always been an abstract concept, open to many interpretations. The formal study of human psychology began with the advent of the psychodynamic approach of studying personality. Shortly after, the behavioristic approach was introduced and both went through an evolution process simultaneously.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Research Paper Writing 101: Checklist
1. Research Paper Writing 101:
Checklist
Rafey Iqbal Rahman
Gold Medal Recipient, 33rd IEEEP Multi-Topic International Symposium 2018
2. Important Note
To the readers,
This checklist is not meant to be an exhaustive one in any way. Rest assured, that this checklist covers all
the essential points, both at the macro- and the micro-level, needed for you to draft a quality manuscript.
From the paper title to the sources cited, this checklist should act as a go-to tool while you’re creating
your manuscript or once you’ve created one.
Thanks for reading!
3. How This Checklist is Organized?
The checklist covers 02 aspects - “Concern” and “How to Deal?” of each constituent section* of the
manuscript.
● The Concern aspect raises questions that need to be addressed before ‘finalizing’ your manuscript.
● The How to Deal? aspect lists suggestions or sets of rules to address the particular concern.
* Constituent section refers to Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, and References/Citations.
4.
5. Title
Concern #1
Does the paper title shed light on the core research topic/work?
How to Deal?
The paper title should provide an idea of the core research.
6. Title
Concern #2
Is the title subjective (opinionated) or objective (referring to a purpose, goal)?
How to Deal?
The paper title should be free from personal opinions, assumptions, and forecasts. Rather it should be objective.
7. Title
Concern #3
Does the title contain filler words?
How to Deal?
Filler words (a, the, etc.) should be avoided in the title. However, grammar rules should not be violated when
removing filler words.
8. Title
Concern #4
Does the title exceed 10 words?
How to Deal?
A well-thought paper title of at least 11 words is capable of accumulating the whole idea of the research
topic/work.
9. Abstract
Concern #1
Does the abstract convey motivation, methodology, results, and recommendations?
How to Deal?
An abstract should mention the motivation/problem statement, the core technique/working mechanism
involved, the outcome of the research, and the limitations of the research in the form of future recommendations,
in a clear, concise manner.
10. Abstract
Concern #2
Does it meet the 250-word criterion?
How to Deal?
Although, the length of the abstract depends upon the individual journal, however, it is safe to write a minimum
of 250 words.
11. Abstract
Concern #3
Does the abstract follow a similar writing tone as followed in the entire manuscript?
How to Deal?
Usually, when writing an abstract after writing the manuscript, the tone of the abstract does not match with the
rest of the manuscript. It is recommended to keep a similar tone throughout the paper.
12.
13. Introduction
Concern #1
Does it differ from the paper abstract?
How to Deal?
Out of confusion and feeling a dearth of content, some researchers often rephrase what’s written in the abstract
to fit the Introduction section. However, doing so is not recommended in any way. The Introduction section
should differ from the Abstract in terms of content.
14. Introduction
Concern #2
Does it describe the motivation/problem that the research aims to solve or deal with?
How to Deal?
The Introduction section serves as the background story of the research. It should describe what led to the
inception of the particular research.
15. Introduction
Concern #3
Does it revolve around facts or states the author’s assumptions that suit their narrative?
How to Deal?
In the Introduction section, the problem should not be exaggerated and overstated to reflect on the significance
of the research. Stats should be provided to complement the problem statement and no additional assumptions
should be made regarding the problem.
16. Introduction
Concern #3
Does the solution described is legitimate or the author has made false claims?
How to Deal?
Some authors, mostly in the case of highly-theoretical research, either deliberately or unintentionally, make loose
false claims. One of the signs of a false claim is the absence of a citation or the presence of a citation from a
non-reliable source. Be careful when claiming something in your manuscript.
17. Literature Review
Concern #1
Does the lit. review clearly differentiate between past and your research?
How to Deal?
A lit. review should be able to create a line between past and your research along with the clarity, transparency,
and legitimacy of the information provided. The lit. review should address the limitations, shortcomings of
previous research work that are to be dealt with in the particular research.
18. Literature Review
Concern #2
Are the sources that support the lit. review cited in order (number sequence)?
How to Deal?
The sources should be cited in such a way that the number sequence is followed. For e.g., reference #1 should be
cited first, followed by #2, #3, and so on.
19. Literature Review
Concern #3
Does the lit. review meet the 1000-word criterion?
How to Deal?
A lit. review is commonly the most detailed section of the manuscript. It is recommended to write a minimum of
1000 words. This almost equals a double-column, single-spaced, A4 page with font size 8-9, and Times New
Roman font style (Hint: single page of the IEEE paper format).
20. Literature Review
Concern #4
Does the lit. review include at least 17-20 citations?
How to Deal?
If you are at the undergrad level, a minimum of 17-20 citations is necessary to put emphasis on your research
work. The citations should be of legitimate sources.
21. Methodology
Concern #1
Are the material used in the research work listed along with their source of acquisition?
How to Deal?
The Methodology section should list the material used (hardware and software, whatever applicable), no matter
how small the scale of application of the particular material is, along with the source (vendor/laboratory) from it
was acquired. If applicable, the make and model should also be mentioned. This adds to the authenticity of the
research work.
22. Methodology
Concern #2
Is the entire methodology described that led to the particular research outcome?
How to Deal?
The complete methodology, including the environment in which the methodology was applied, should be
described without sugarcoating. Although, the secret sauce (such as a proprietary algorithm) could be kept
hidden in case your research is funded by an organization that doesn’t want to reveal that for commercial or any
other reasons.
23. Methodology
Concern #3
Are the figures included?
How to Deal?
The Methodology section should include original figures derived from the application of the methodology,
whether raw or finished. The figure could be a block diagram, a flowchart, or an illustration illustrating the
mechanism. This also adds to the authenticity of the research work.
24. Methodology
Concern #4
Can the methodology be reapplied to test results?
How to Deal?
The reproducibility of the methodology is a key factor. If your research cannot be reproduced for some reasons,
most commonly because rerunning the experiment in a particular country is not possible due to the lack of
infrastructure or doing so would result in the violation of governing law, the research is likely to be discarded if the
rest of the foundation is not laid well (i.e., if the theory also seems unconvincing).
25. Results
Concern #1
Are the results presented with clarity?
How to Deal?
The results should be presented accurately along with mentioning the margin of error (if applicable). NO
exaggeration should be made and the results should be presented as they are.
26. Results
Concern #2
Are the limitations of the research described?
How to Deal?
In most researches, there is some sort of limitation since research work only addresses an area within an area of
research. These are often modified into recommendations for other researchers.
27. Results
Concern #3
Are the research applications discussed?
How to Deal?
Many scientific pieces of research, although performed in a closed (for e.g., a laboratory) or sometimes in an ideal
environment, or assuming ideal conditions in a non-ideal environment, can be applied in practical areas and the
commercial sector. Possible application areas should be mentioned along with a gist of how they can be applied.
28. References/Citations
Concern #1
Are the references listed complying with the particular referencing style?
How to Deal?
The listed references should comply with the rules and patterns of the particular referencing style.
29. References/Citations
Concern #2
Do references originate from non-reliable sources (Wikipedia, Quora, blogs, etc.)?
How to Deal?
The references should not originate from sources like Wikipedia, Quora (or any other Q/A site), or unknown blog
posts. Blogs maintained by reputed organizations, such as Google, Airbnb, and Uber are an exception.
30. Bonus Content
