Muslim Women in Interfaith Relatinships
Muslim women in interfaith relationships
By Muneebah Dawson
2nd year UCT Social Science degree Student
Introduction
We are living in a world where religious peace talks are prominent. The walls of gender inequality are
encouraged to be broken down. Tradition and culture is evolving. However; in the Muslim community
I still find that women are struggling to find gender equality. Women are frowned upon when they
enter into interfaith marriages. Love does not ask what religion you belong to. Following is my project
and its findings on Muslim women in interfaith relationships and how they feel about the inequality of
Muslim marriage rights in Islam.
Rationale for Research and Research Questions
I am a Muslim woman in an interfaith ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Methodology
I have four participants of which I have interviewed using a questionnaire. I have recorded and
transcribed two of them and two of them I have taken notes. I have discussed with them the
discrimination against them; one married to a non Muslim man, one engaged to be married to a non
Muslim man and one in a relationship with a non Muslim man. This has therefore presented an
interesting lens for understanding the ways in which these engagements have affected their immediate
family life in their specific social, legal and political context. Furthermore I have interviewed Dr.
Sadiyya Shaikh, my fourth participant who is a Muslim Feminist and a lecturer at the University of
Cape Town who holds a doctorate in Islamic religious studies. My aim with her was to find out why
only Muslim men are allowed to marry a non Muslim women and not the other way around. I gained
her professional perspective on the interpretations of the Quran and its text on this matter.
The following are the set of questions that I have asked my participants when I conducted my
interviews.
Interview Questions for the three Muslim women in an interfaith relationship/ marriage
1. The Quran speaks of the acceptance of Muslim men in interfaith marriages to women of the Book .
Muslim women are not mentioned in this context however; there is also no mention of it being haram
(taboo). Are you aware of this and how do you feel about it?
2. Do you feel that the Shariah

development cycle of 20 months. Strategy option III is an evolutionary design. Option III makes use
of proven technology and requires 10 months to launch the product. The performance rating of the
product is 80 (on a consumer satisfaction scale). Strategy option II is in between I and III in terms of
performance and development time. Development expense includes capital and labor costs and
increases with the development cycle as indicated.
According to industry experts, Creative technology s current product has a performance rating of 100.
The company sells its product for $2,000. The demand window for this product is expected to last for
another sixty months. Demand is assumed to be constant over the entire demand window and total
market sales are estimated to be 2,000 units/month. Storage Technology also plans to sell its new
product for $2,000. The unit production cost of the product excluding the development expense is
$1,500 regardless of the development option selected. Assume that market share for Storage
Technology is determined by the following function:
Storage Technology Market Share =
STp = Storage Technology s Product Performance Rating
CTp = Creative Technology s Product Performance Rating

The Benefits Of Having Hospice Care Essay
The advantages of having Hospice Care If you were terminally ill, and on the last phase of an
incurable disease, would you want to spend your last final months in a cold, busy, noisy hospital room,
being awakened every hour by hospital noise, or would you rather spend your last few months living
your life in the comfort of your own home, with your familiar surroundings? This is why Hospice care
has come into existence. Hospice care is for any ill patients, regardless of age, gender, race and
nationality; who have a very serious chronic medical condition and often it s when a physician thinks
that dying is a possibility within a six month time period. It doesn t necessarily mean that a chronically
ill patient will die within six months time, but it could be for a patient that has cancer, kidney failure,
heart problems, dementia, etc. In fact, Hospice can be traced to the early middle ages from the 5th to
the 15th century. It all began back in the late 1940 s, a Physician named Dame Cicely Saunders, began
working with terminally ill patients; her involvement by helping these terminally ill patients, led her
on a journey of forming the first hospice, St. Christopher s Hospice, in London, England back in the
late 1960 s. In and around the early 1960 s, Saunders made a visit to Yale University, to present a
comprehensive hospice lecture to the medical students and faculty. Her lecture at Yale was so heart
rendering, it launched a chain of events that introduced

surgeons producing 74,315 RVUs at an aggregate 7.38 cFTE (10,070 RVUs per 1 cFTE) for the year.
In January 2016 Dr. Donald Green and Dr. Rifat Latifi exited the university and the health system,
followed by Dr. Peter Rhee in June 2016, reducing the division to 7 surgeons. In November 2016 Dr.
Arpana Jain was recruited in, bringing the division up to 8 surgeons, with an open slot for a 9th
surgeon being actively recruited. As of November 2016, the division has produced 60,283 RVUs at an
aggregate 5.96 cFTE (10,115 RVUs per 1 cFTE) for the year.
Dr. Rhee had served as the Division Chief since his faculty appointment in September 2007, thus his
departure left somewhat of a void in the division; however, Dr. Terence O Keeffe (who was one of Dr.
Rhee s first recruits and also serves as Chief of Staff) was immediately appointed Interim Division
Chief and has stepped up to take the challenge head on, working closely with Dr. Neumayer and the
administrative leadership team to ensure continuity of operations and continued positive trending in
the division. At the close of 2016, the division is actively working on a SWOT analysis with the
assistance of Professor Emeritus Charles Putnam MD, PhD. The SWOT analysis will lay the
groundwork for future strategic planning, including determination of a permanent Division Chief.

Holy Trinity Research Paper
Christianity is one of the world s largest religions; however, Christianity is no longer a united religion
with one understanding of the faith. The numerous different interpretations of the Holy Bible and the
Christian faith have led to various denominations. One main controversy between Christian
denominations is the belief or non belief of the holy trinity. Pentecostal churches and Baptist are just
opposing side of the controversy; while Pentecostal belief is the literal interpretation of the Bible,
Baptist take a more loose understanding of the holy writings. Christianity originated in the first
century AD; Christianity teaches the life and death of Jesus Christ. The faith consists of many
different sects or denominations. The Roman Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the twentieth century, the Pentecostal movement began to really surface although, there was
evidence of Pentecostalism in earlier times during history ( Pentecostalism ). The Oneness Pentecostal
movement is slightly more recent than other Pentecostal movements. Oneness Pentecostal beliefs
focus on the singular point that there is only one God, who manifests himself in different ways; this
belief separates Oneness Pentecostalism from other denominations that believe in the Trinitarian
doctrine. Oneness practices and teaching reject the belief that God is three individuals; instead believe
that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are ...merely titles reflecting the different personal manifestations
of the One True God... The disbelief in the Holy Trinity also affects the Oneness Pentecostal practices.
Oneness believers practice baptizing in the name of Jesus and receiving the Holy Spirit, followed by
evidence of speaking other languages which are unknown to the speaker. Oneness Pentecostals believe
that the Holy Bible is the word of God, and absolute in its contents ( Oneness Pentecostalism ).
Although, Oneness Pentecostals believers support their practices with biblical evidence, other
denominations express their beliefs through biblical

Introduction
Technology affects human life at a staggering rate, so
The method of communication has been significantly transformed by technological advances.
Some people think technology promotes communication and gives more access to information. People
are able to obtain information in various ways. Digital technology communication helps people
overcome geographical barrier so that they can enhance efficiency and make an contact.
On the other hand, others take the view that technology leads to the problem of decreasing family time

A Critical Analysis of My Kiowa Grandmother, and

A Critical Analysis of My Kiowa Grandmother, and
Take My Saddle from the Wall: A Valediction
The essays, My Kiowa Grandmother, by N. Scott Momaday and Take My Saddle from the Wall: A
Valediction, by Larry McMurtry, both seek to understand the values and traditions of an old way of
life that has been lost to the trials and tribulations of time. By reaching back into history through their
families, both authors achieve the same effect, while using starkly contrasting narrative structure; they
show the characteristics that have been lost to younger generations.

McMurtry creates a story about his family, based on their accounts left to him in memoirs and letters
throughout the years. McMurtry s ultimate purpose is to narrate an expressive literary essay that uses
humor and drama to attract the attention of the reader. While discussing cowboys and their
straightforward wisdom, he concludes that cowboys observations turn into aphorisms. One such
aphorism he finds particularly appealing is as follows: A woman s love is like the morning dew, it s
just as likely to fall on a horseturd as on a rose (149). McMurtry also includes a great deal of drama
and suspense as well. At one point, he recalls his grandfather s troublesome drinking; one day his
grandmother issued an ultimatum, sober up or she would leave him. The threat was undoubtedly made
in earnest, and he took it so immediately to heart that he stopped drinking then and there, with a jug
half full of whiskey hanging in the saddle room of the barn (143).
Additionally, a substantial difference between the two essays is the author s view of their ancestors.
McMurtry admits that he never considered genealogy much of an aid to recognition, and thus never
pursued [his] lineage any distance at all (143). On the other hand, Momaday is very curious of his
lineage. So curious in fact that he actually sets out on a fifteen hundred [mile]... pilgrimage (289) to
see where his ancestors began their journey onto the plains. Momaday describes his ancestors as
people of the

Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Something Greater
For centuries, humans have struggled with this idea that haunts their existence. The notion that feels
like a far off dream that will never reach its destination; death Death, be not proud, by John Donne,
Because I could not stop for Death, and I heard a Fly buzz when I died, both written by Emily
Dickinson, explore the meaning of leaving this earth for good. The writers excellently depict the
feelings that come with the thought of no longer living. They show that dying does not end on this
earth but that something greater awaits. The poems Death, be not proud, Because I could not stop for
Death, and I heard a Fly buzz, portray the meaning of death with excellence.

eternal harmony with him. Instead of fearing the end of their lives, Christians look forward to a
wonderful life not on this earth. While, in Because I could not stop for Death, the writer fears when
death comes to take her away, but in Death, be not proud, the poet mocks death, knowing that his
future would surpass anything on this earth. God gives everyone a reason to look forward with hope,
despite deaths efforts to steal the minds of those living on this

The Oecd Report Teachers Matter
The OECD report Teachers Matter identifies that teachers have a huge demand on them by schools to
deal effectively with different languages, different students backgrounds, to be extremely sensitive of
gender and culture, to promote tolerance and social cohesion and to respond efficiently to
disadvantaged children (OECD, 2005). Also with the presence of the number of children with SEN in
classrooms, it is very important that teachers are prepared to teach all children regardless of their
learning needs, intellectual, emotional, behavioural and social and physical capabilities (Cardona,
2009). Teachers therefore need confidence in their ability to deal with these demands and be set to
deal with them in the present school climate (De Boer et al, 2010).
Marin (2014) discusses the issue of inclusion and how important it has become in today s education
system. Her study focuses on whether teachers are generally prepared to deal with students with SEN
in mainstream schools, the advantages and disadvantages of inclusion in schools, and whether teachers
need any additional training in the field of special education to respond to the needs of SEN children.
Her report found (using a quantitative approach for her investigation) that 66.2% of teacher s from the
research had encountered students with SEN. This is a significantly high number and suggests that
teachers have to be prepared to deal with, and respond to those kid s needs, and diversity in the
classroom.

Good and Bad Aspects of Floods
GOOD AND BAD ASPECTS OF FLOODS Flooding can be defined as occupancy by water in areas
that are normally dry. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other.
To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds.
The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical
storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by
the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards,
floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to
much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the
world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In
terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across
the property. According to its origin , floods are classified as rain floods, river floods and coastal
floods. Rainwater and river floods occur as a result of rainfall that occur when moisture in the seas ,
oceans and other large bodies of water , is transported to the land by the wind ; when ascending water
vapor and decrease its temperature , is presented in any of the following ways ; rain, snow or hail. The
process may arise due to the occurrence of hurricanes, normal wind ,

Female Surrealists Research Paper
Can you name five female Surrealists? How about two? Even students whom I have asked had no idea
just how many Surrealists, female or male, there have been. Could we name them in a pop quiz?
Personally, I would have to say no. After all my years as an artist and student, not even I could have
named five. I found two books in my college library on women Surrealists. According to one of those
books, In Wonderland, The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States,
there were almost fifty female Surrealists significant enough to be noted for their contributions (Fort,

The few women Surrealists who are associated with their spouses, such as Dorothea Tanning and

consider herself a Surrealist, even though she was familiar and close friends with quite a few. Kahlo
said, They thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn t. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality
(Moffat, Web). As important as these women are to our history, there are far more who have not been
given sufficient attention. There are well over a hundred women associated with this era. The three
women Surrealists introduced in this paper are Kay Sage, Remedios Varo, and Lola Alverez Bravo.
I selected these three women for their art, their stories, and the struggles that, in a small way, resemble
similar situations in my life. Sage, Varo, and Alverez Bravo have received little exposure in
mainstream art history; the information available on each woman is minimal, yet I felt a connection to
the three. I want to shed a light on these strong talented

Decisions were made by a jury of twelve elected copyholders, sworn. In any contested case, unless an
agreement was made outside the court, an inquisition would be held in which the jury would make a
decision and then apply a penalty in accordance with the custom of the manor. Juries were made up of
local men, who had usually lived their lives in the manor, and so were considered to have the

example, if a man committed Rape, Manslaughter or Robbery they would be hung up in a cage so

punishments and torture in their justice system. One famous type of harsh reinforcement are the
ordeals. The ordeals where sometimes used to prove innocence if the oath helps were not there. There
are many different types of ordeals. One of the many different ordeals were the ordeal by battles.
Ordeal by battle was when two nobles fought, usually until one of them died. The winner was
assumed to be innocent because they thought God would protect the innocent person. A noblemen did
not have to fight in battle. They could pick someone that was experienced to fight their battle. Another
ordeal is by cold water. The accused were thrown in water. If the accused floated they were guilty of

No Sympathy for Slaves in Mark Twain s Work
No Sympathy to Slaves
Many writers on the African American diaspora have attempted to capture the black experience in
America, although some to no avail. Most Black authors like Zora Neal Hurston, Martin Delaney, and
countless others have succeeded in painting the most accurate image of black people with the
characters in their stories. Nevertheless, some authors fail in their portrayal of black people by using
recycled economic stereotypes, highly metonymic based characters, and Fetishization. Questions often
arise regarding whether or not these authors have taken a serious look into the African experience in
America or simply expressing, subtly, racist views. Mark Twain is the author of two very important,
however controversial, stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark twain avails himself as a racist because of his little consideration to portray black people in an
accurate manner. Moreover, Twain commits a similar fallacy regarding the construction of Tom
Chambres character in Huck Finn.
Even before the onset of slavery and the Trans Atlantic slave trade, Europeans have been devilishly
curious, interested, fascinated, and even fearful about anything African, mainly African physical and
sexual prowess. Further, some whites even went to the extremes of randomly lynching black men.
These lynchings included a number of things, but largely involved the castration of Black men; white
men were fearful that black men would ravish their women in light of perceived African sexual
deviancy. In her book, Playing in the Dark, Morrison encourages readers to consider the concept of
Fetishization. This term applies to the absolutism of humanity and savagery. It highlights the purity of
white blood in light of possible poisoning and pollution by African blood. The connotation here is that
everything white is pure and clean, while grotesque, dirty, deviant, and ungodly is the nature of
everything African. The story of Tom Chambres from The Tragedy of Puddnhead Wilson details this
fallacy committed by Twain. Essentially, Tom Chambres is the product of a sexual interaction between
a half black half white slave women with a white master. His features are undeniably,

The Communicative Approach
The present Unit of Work could be framed pedagogically into The Communicative Language
Teaching Approach (CLT), together with the Project Work and the CEFRL´s Action Oriented
Approach. The Communicative Approach emerged at the end of 1960s and early 1970s when a series
of circumstances, motivated by the emerging society, evidenced the necessity of adapting the language
teaching learning process to the new contextual demands. Until then, the Situational Language
Teaching, widely extended, and other teaching approaches in the field had centred on the mastery of
structures. However, they had run its course since it became clear the necessity to focus on the

Gumbo is a dish that is made differently depending on the cultural background of the person making
it. The name gumbo, comes from the Bantu word nkombo, which stands for okra. Gumbo is originally
from Africa and was defined as a soup dish (Owens 1). Ingredients such as, chopped onions, shrimp,
andouille sausage, chicken, salt, garlic, celery, parsley, bell peppers, okra, and roux are what make up
a gumbo. Roux is a thickener for gumbo and there are many different ways to make it. This thickener
is made with flour and butter, oil or fat. Gumbo creates cultural diffusion near the south. The way that
people prepare gumbo or how popular it is depends on how far they are from South Louisiana. Gumbo
has many cultural influences such as: Western European, African, Caribbean, and Native America
(Gumbo Festivals 2). Gumbo can be made many different ways because of these cultures. The
traditional gumbo recipe includes chicken and sausage but there are also many different seafood
recipes that include shrimp, oysters, or crabs. A family that hunts usually includes other meats such as
duck or squirrel. People usually serve gumbo with a side of potato salad which ties back to a German
influence. Some Jews actually take gumbo and turn it into their own with their culture. They make
what is known as, Matzo Ball Gumbo. Matzo Ball Gumbo is a chicken gumbo with smoked turkey

Coffee Mate Case Study
1. What are the main benefits of Coffee Mate and what is limiting its sales?
First of all, Coffee Mate´s main benefit is its ability to replace cream or real milk. Furthermore, it can
be stored for a much longer time than milk or cream making it a good substitute. People who cannot
drink coffee without milk don t need to carry around or look for milk since coffee mate will do the

Richard Linklater s Childhood
The memories of childhood development stick to the minds of many people for long periods whereas,
people can recall many moments from their childhood lives, but don t possess the cognitive ability to

Mason Evans Jr from the age of 6 to 18 years. The film was written and directed by Richard Linklater,

Literary Devices Used In The Raven By Edgar Allen Poe
Matthew Hylton ENG 200 030 December 7, 2017 The Raven Edgar Allen Poe The Raven by Edgar
Allen Poe is a first person narrative poem that is truly a dark poem of one s sanity when losing a loved
one. The poem is eighteen stanzas long that contains 108 lines. The poem uses many literary and
poetic devices to help construct the eerie atmosphere. Poe begins the poem by describing a setting that
symbolizes darkness and death perfectly Once upon a midnight dreary (1). Poe uses an internal rhyme
to heighten the effect of the setting. He does this to foreshadow the events that happen later on in the
poem, that the reader will soon begin to understand the dreariness of the setting. Poe is a mastermind
of using these devices to draw the reader in and help them understand the narrator on a deeper level
during the reading of the poem. As stanza one continues, Poe uses an alliteration in line 3 of the poem,
While I nodded, nearly napping (3), by using the repetition of the n sound throughout the stanza I
would argue he is trying to build suspense of the narrator answering the door. Poe uses many rhyme
schemes throughout the poem to give a bigger meaning to each word. The first stanza is no different.
Poe uses many internal rhymes in the stanza, but even uses an end rhyme in lines 2, 3, 4, and 5. He
uses the rhyme scheme ABCBBB in the first stanza. As Poe continues, the narrator begins to
remember his lost loved one Lenore . Poe begins to go darker into the poem creating an even larger
suspense, and added dramatic effect as the narrator slowly approaches the door to open it. Ah,
distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December; (6) Poe is using symbolism again to further his
dark atmosphere that he created in the first stanza. Poe is trying to get the reader to understand the
severity of the narrator s depression about Lenore . Poe in the very next line continues his emphasis on
the eeriness that is this poem s atmosphere. By describing the embers of the fire going out, he is
creating an image of darkness soon approaching. Because once the embers go out, the light goes out. I
would argue that Poe is foreshadowing even more of what will happen later in the poem. As the stanza
continues, you soon realize

Violence In Media And Media Violence
With technology becoming more advanced every year the public is becoming increasingly concerned
with the link between the violence in media and actual violence between humans. However, this topic
has not only gained interest by the public but researchers are intrigued by the connection as well. One
of the subdivisions associated with media is, gaming culture. Yet, its association with developing
violence among the youth and young adults has not been touched upon by many researchers.
Although, the few who have looked into the violence within the realm of gaming have found many
connections involving variables such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, personality, and acts of violence.
In the study, Exposure to Media Violence and Other Correlates of Aggressive Behavior in Preschool
Children; researchers, Perez and Daly, looked into whether violence in media such as television and
video games affected how children behaved or how they got along with others during play time. In
order to conduct this research they selected seven preschools. After the parents who wished to have
their child participate gave consent there was officially a sample size of 70 children (32 female, 38
male). Then to create a control the researchers survey and rated the classroom environment, the
teachers, the parents, and the children s ability to be self regulatory. As a result, researchers found that
children who were highly self regulatory were more physically violent and those who had low self

The Arab Republic Of Egypt
The Arab Republic of Egypt has recently experienced a political revolution. In order to understand

Dormant Commerce Clause Essay
Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is?
The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established
by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that
inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the
power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S.
Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007).
Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business?
The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state
places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on
behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). An example would be, in the
case of C A Carbone, Inc. v. Town of Clarkstown, where the Court overturned an apparently alleged

did not exceed maximum weight, that feat would be permissible if the trucks came from out of state,
as long as the requirement applied equally to all trucks on that state s highways ( The Commerce,

Homeless Youth Problem
Imagine being 16 and men bedroom being a sleeping bag under a bridge or a cot in an overfilled
shelter. Sadly that is a reality a lot of youth face. Homelessness is a huge problem alone, but having so
many young people on the streets is even worse. To solve this problem we must first understand how
young people are put in this position, how many young people are homeless, and what being in this
position does to them. The first step to fixing this issue is figuring out who is in this position and why.
Approximately 34% of the country s homeless population are under the age of 24, why are these
people homeless? Most youths become homeless because they are running away from something.
About 79% of homeless youth were being physically abused at home and 39% were sexually abused.
Youth identifying as members of the LGBT community make up about 40% of the homeless youth
population. Being homeless is not a choice these young people (ranging from 12 24) have made.
Sometimes it isn t even abuse or a lack of acceptance that forces them into this life of poverty, in some
case their families could not financially support them and the rest of the family and they leave as to

The Maya Socialization, A Mesoamerican Civilization
The Maya civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization developed by the Maya peoples, and noted for
its hieroglyphic script the only known fully developed writing system of the pre Columbian Americas
as well as for its art, architecture, mathematics, calendar, and astronomical system. The Maya
civilization developed in an area that encompasses southeastern Mexico, all of Guatemala and Belize,
and the western portions of Honduras and El Salvador. This region consists of the northern lowlands
encompassing the Yucatán Peninsula, and the highlands of the Sierra Madre, running from the
Mexican state of Chiapas, across southern Guatemala and onwards into El Salvador, and the southern
lowlands of the Pacific littoral plain. The Archaic period, prior to 2000 BC, saw the first developments
in agriculture and the earliest villages. The Preclassic period (c. 2000 BC to 250 AD) saw the
establishment of the first complex societies in the Maya region, and the cultivation of the staple crops
of the Maya diet, including maize, beans, squashes, and chili peppers. The first Maya cities developed
around 750 BC, and by 500 BC these cities possessed monumental architecture, including large
temples with elaborate stucco façades. Hieroglyphic writing was being used in the Maya region by the
3rd century BC. In the Late Preclassic a number of large cities developed in the Petén Basin, and
Kaminaljuyu rose to prominence in the Guatemalan Highlands. Beginning around 250 AD, the Classic

Training of Air Force Personnel Canada s role from WWI to WWII Introduction In the 20th century
Canada in support of its closest ally Great Britain participated in two world wars. These were wars
with new technology, specifically the fixed wing aircraft which gave birth to a new battlefield the sky .
This changed the tactics of previous wars, the airplane was capable of many duties; ranging from
aerial reconnaissance to ground attack to the tactical and strategic bombing, both by day and night.
Canada did not start with an Air Force, however was a major player in the battle for the sky. This

This agreement set in motion one of Canada s principal roles during the war; to provide Air Force
personnel with the training they needed. Canada established training schools for aerial warfare,
ranging from flight training to gunnery and bombing to navigation and communications. The first of
these schools were scheduled to be opened at the end of spring in 1940, and all were to be operational
within two years.3 In order to achieve the B.C.A.T.P. s aim, sites had to be selected, infrastructure
constructed, equipment acquired; and the recruitment of professionals. Canada showed great success
in the training of Air Force personnel, as by the end of 1943 the number of trained aircrews exceeded
the immediate overseas need. As we have discussed, while Canada had an important role in the
training of Air Force personnel in WWI, with its role increasing in WWII. Since Canada did not have
an Air Force during WWI, there was a lack of knowledge and resources available to train Air Force
personnel, therefore when Canada got involved in the training of Air Force personnel she had to rely
on the expertise of the RFC to train Canada in aerial warfare. As a result of the lessons learned during
WWI, Canada took control and was quick to putin place the requirements of the B.C.A.P.T. for

The Heat Transfer Of A Forced Draft Cooling
Abstract
The aim of this experiment is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling water tower and to
perform energy and mass balances on the system. The system consisted of a single cooling tower
where the heated water flowed down the tower, while air flow was directed against the water flow. In
the system the energy consumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated water and
pressure could be adjusted. Measured properties in the system include the wet and dry bulb
temperatures at the inlet and outlet, the temperature of the water in and out, the make up temperature
and the pressure. The power to the heat is predetermined as well as the water mass flow rate. The
enthalpy, absolute humidity and the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water is more commonly used due to its higher heat transfer coefficient, resulting in a smaller
required surface area for cooling. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the water
has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to minimalise
heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as cooling water towers
were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for recirculated water in chemical
process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling air flow is fed up through a system of
slats that will increase the surface area of the water being cooled. As water falls down through the
tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool the stream as more heat is expelled in the form
of latent heat. The aim of this report is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling tower and
to perform energy and mass balances on the system. The Bench Top Cooling Tower H891, with six
thermometer readings, two wet and dry bulbs at the top and bottom of the system, was put into a
steady state where measurements were made.

A Comparison Of Hills Like White Elephants And Happy Endings
Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway and Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood share a
gender oriented theme. They both show women struggling to attain equality against their male
partners. This theme is depicted through the use of symbolism, point of view and plot conflict.
Symbolically, Hills like White Elephants represents a choice. It is a life choice that can t be undone
once it is made. This choice is about whether or not Jig, the female character of the story, should get
an abortion. It supports the theme because if Jig chooses to keep the baby she is defying the wishes of
her male partner, who is simply referred to as the man, and taking a stand for women by doing so.
However it is not entirely clear what choice she makes at the end of the story. Her only words being, I
feel fine...There s nothing wrong with me. I feel fine (216). The interpretation some people take for
this is that she decided to keep the baby and chose to defy male domination.
In Happy Endings the main symbols are how the relationships end be it cheating, age, or health
complications. Cheating is symbolic of the relationship being dominated by only one person involved
in it. Age is symbolic of both partners sharing or being equal in the relationship. Lastly health
complications are a way of saying that fate, be it good or bad, can be involved, or that not everything
works out according to plan. These are all related to the idea that by placing a dominant person in the
relationship

Department decided to implement a practice of Stop, Question, and Frisk. This practice became to

First, the reduction of violent crime has not provided correlation with the number of stops made.
Secondly, one of the purposes articulated was to reduce gun use, a data from 2008 to 2011 shows 27%

Third, the stop and frisk policy was just another form of crime fighting tool implemented by the

of this policy. However, it cost community policing relations with minority to diminish due to how
law enforcement treated minorities during the implementation of stop and frisk. There are specific

involved (1) improving training of NYPDs officers as to the laws governing the policy to ensure that

I Am Not A Good Person
The Beginning of my Story
Tattoos have long been seen as flaws on the body, the signs of a delinquent, and a painted on sign
saying, I am not a good person . For years, my own parents butchered my love for the art. They told
me I d regret each and every one I got. Their words always just went in one ear and out the other. I
always told them I d prove them wrong and the stereotype of tattooed people wrong. I am twenty
years old now with seven tattoos on various regions of my body. I have two large tattoos on my left
arm, three smaller tattoos on my right arm, one large one on my back, and one small one on my chest.
Those are just the ones I already have, by the end of all my glorious tattoo sessions; I hope to have
approximately twenty five to thirty tattoos covering my body. As Johnny Depp once said, My body is
my journal and my tattoos are my story , that is the motto I live by regarding my present and future

with quick precision and timing. With three minutes to spare, I

Structural Diversity In College Students
Structural diversity is the accumulation of diverse groups of individuals from different backgrounds
openness and probability to become more openly interactive with people of different groups. Open
interaction becomes limited when people begin to segregate themselves based upon factors such as
ethnic groups and socioeconomic status. The acceptance of diversity is very complex with how the
physical and nonverbal interactions allow people to prejudge, yet we have some individual who hold
that open mindset to make that step to convert what they consider an outsider to someone possible to
maintain a relationship with. The life of a high class Ivy League student may differ from the life of a
middle class community college student. The perfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research is direct to only the political but legal policies that interfere with the use of race
conscious college admission policies. Within a large longitudinal data set, structural diversity is
positively related to having close interracial friendships and a different race romantic partner for
White students, and no main effects of structural diversity are apparent for Black and Hispanic
students. Moreover, structural diversity has increasingly positive effects at higher levels of campus
diversity. (Brown, 2012) These findings suggest that a college s structural diversity may notably shape
post college behaviors, attitudes, and values, which supports the rationale for considering
race/ethnicity in admissions processes. (Brown,

Many people have always wanted to be a parent of a kid they can call their own, but they must do
certain things before they go do the paperwork. First thing a person should do is talk to their spouse
about this. Ask them if they think they are also ready for taking care of a kid and if each of you can
prepare for their financial needs. Next the person and or their spouse can do a little practice of a taking

in El Paso Texas, she grew up being the oldest of 4 children in a bicultural home. Pat was a former

Woman are dressed in faded dresses (line 11)this imagery is used to show that the women are less
professional and in a lower class than the woman in the first room. They stir sweet milk coffee ( line
11 and 12) and shush each other from laughing, although they are joyful they still try to contain
themselves to maintain their cultural idea of always being serious. As Pat uses more complex imagery
like steam from fresh tamales she appeals to the human sense taste to represent that she s feeling a
little more homeliness and at ease. The author separates the two worlds to ensure the audience
understands that in the second room there is more togetherness and the woman are more in tuned and
enjoy each other s company more than the first room where the woman are more stern and
independent. A difference in the woman s eyes are mentioned unlike the first room the woman trap
smiles in their dark Mexican eyes it s almost as if the Mexican values is a stress reliever from the first
room showing that it is important to reconnect with your Latino

Examples Of Suspense In The Sniper
The story the sniper is a suspenseful short story written by Liam O Flaherty. The story is about a
republican sniper that has the face of a scholar that is involved in the Irish civil war. The story the
sniper uses suspenseful phrases such as hurriedly, immediately, suddenly, and slowly to describe the
pace of the story. The thesis of The Sniper is that the story uses timing to create suspense. The story
the sniper uses back to back action to create suspense. One example of this in the story the sniper is
when an armoured car appeared along with an informant, which the sniper kills. Right after this the
sniper gets shot by an enemy sniper across the road. This makes the story suspenseful because the
events are happening rapidly which shows how often danger was evident. The sniper raised his rifle
and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street. The sniper
fired again. The women whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter ( Liam O Flaherty 1). ...

An example is when the sniper kills his opponent, right after this event the story spends three
paragraphs talking about his remorse and his curiosity of who the enemy sniper was. This is
suspenseful because it stops the action of a long chain of events. Another example of the sniper using
slow pace for suspense is right after the sniper gets shot. This is suspenseful because the story is
running at a fast pace until he gets shot and hides behind the roof. This makes the story suspenseful
because it makes the reader wonder when the next event will

The Theory Of Evolution And Evolution
Since Charles Darwin suggested the theory of evolution by natural selection in this best known work,
On the Origin of Species, controversy has followed. As a (computer) scientist, this student has no
personal problem with the theory of evolution. However, since the debate of whether or not evolution
actually exists is still alive and well today, a brief exploration of the arguments against is not only
interesting, but also increasingly necessary. Why is there such disparity over this topic over one
hundred and fifty years later? In order to understand the contrary side of this debate, the question must
be asked: why would evolution not be possible? . This student will walk through possible reasons
someone might not accept evolution as a scientific theory, as well as some of the more well known
arguments , and provide responses to those arguments from the side of evolutionary science . The first
thing one must understand is that there are many different factions of people that do not believe in
evolution. This is not to disparage those of lower education or less privilege, but meant to illustrate the
ease in which misgivings about evolution pervade the social circles of certain groups of people. These
people range in religious background, gender, and nationality. One of the only things most people
have in common if they do not accept evolution as a scientific theory is education. In fact, in a 2014
Gallup poll, this was addressed as follows: Those who adopt the

The Nightmare Before Christmas At The El Capitan Theatre
When I heard we were going to the The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Theatre, I was
ecstatic. This was one of my favorite childhood movies and I had not seen it in maybe 10 years. The
night started with us boarding the coach bus which was playing the movie Kidnap starring Halle
Berry. This was most of us on the bus seeing the movie for the first time so we were very into it. Since
we are a bunch of film/TV students we easily all became instant critics of the film. Not Ms. Halle, Ms.
Halle is amazing as always. It was the writing and the scenarios that she was placed in that didn t seem
plausible. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch of students reacting and laughing to
situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested. Once we arrived at the theater, I was
taken a back from how visually loud it was. All the lights and colors, it was so Hollywood. I loved it.

I was so excited. It may be hard to believe but, this was my first time seeing a movie in 3D. Before the
show started there was a raffle for some cool prizes and an announcement that there are some extras to
this movie throughout the theater to make us feel more immersed in the film. I m not going to lie; I
was a little scared because I wasn t quite sure what that meant. Nevertheless, the movies started and
the first sign of being in the movies were the jack o lanterns that were projected onto the theater walls.
The movie was as every bit enjoyable as when I used to watch with my family as a child. The
surprises the theater had instore like the wind blowing and ultimately the snow made the experience

Absolute Surveillance
1. Absolute abundance of a species provides a population estimate expressed as number of individuals
per unit area. This method requires species specific detection coefficients or probability function
obtained from the relationship between number of detections and distance from observer. Whereas,
relative abundance is the abundance of a species by any measure divided by the total abundance of all
species combined. Absolute abundance is an estimate whereas relative abundance is an index.

Sycamores grow in all states east of the Great Plains, wherein its outer boundary reaches southern
Iowa. The range of survivable temperatures and precipitations matches Iowa s temperate climate and
does well in alluvial soils which are characteristic of floodplains. Furthermore, the tree is tolerant of
wet soil conditions which is beneficial in a floodplain environment.
Silver Maples grows all along the east coast and a majority of the Midwest, wherein the range fully
saturates Iowa. The climatic conditions of Iowa are suitable for Silver Maples, especially in alluvial
soils. Silver maples grow best in better drained moist areas and appears as a dominant species in

  • 2. Muslim Women in Interfaith Relatinships Muslim women in interfaith relationships By Muneebah Dawson 2nd year UCT Social Science degree Student Introduction We are living in a world where religious peace talks are prominent. The walls of gender inequality are encouraged to be broken down. Tradition and culture is evolving. However; in the Muslim community I still find that women are struggling to find gender equality. Women are frowned upon when they enter into interfaith marriages. Love does not ask what religion you belong to. Following is my project and its findings on Muslim women in interfaith relationships and how they feel about the inequality of Muslim marriage rights in Islam. Rationale for Research and Research Questions I am a Muslim woman in an interfaith ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Methodology I have four participants of which I have interviewed using a questionnaire. I have recorded and transcribed two of them and two of them I have taken notes. I have discussed with them the discrimination against them; one married to a non Muslim man, one engaged to be married to a non Muslim man and one in a relationship with a non Muslim man. This has therefore presented an interesting lens for understanding the ways in which these engagements have affected their immediate family life in their specific social, legal and political context. Furthermore I have interviewed Dr. Sadiyya Shaikh, my fourth participant who is a Muslim Feminist and a lecturer at the University of Cape Town who holds a doctorate in Islamic religious studies. My aim with her was to find out why only Muslim men are allowed to marry a non Muslim women and not the other way around. I gained her professional perspective on the interpretations of the Quran and its text on this matter. The following are the set of questions that I have asked my participants when I conducted my interviews. Interview Questions for the three Muslim women in an interfaith relationship/ marriage 1. The Quran speaks of the acceptance of Muslim men in interfaith marriages to women of the Book . Muslim women are not mentioned in this context however; there is also no mention of it being haram (taboo). Are you aware of this and how do you feel about it? 2. Do you feel that the Shariah ... • 5. The Benefits Of Having Hospice Care Essay The advantages of having Hospice Care If you were terminally ill, and on the last phase of an incurable disease, would you want to spend your last final months in a cold, busy, noisy hospital room, being awakened every hour by hospital noise, or would you rather spend your last few months living your life in the comfort of your own home, with your familiar surroundings? This is why Hospice care has come into existence. Hospice care is for any ill patients, regardless of age, gender, race and nationality; who have a very serious chronic medical condition and often it s when a physician thinks that dying is a possibility within a six month time period. It doesn t necessarily mean that a chronically ill patient will die within six months time, but it could be for a patient that has cancer, kidney failure, heart problems, dementia, etc. In fact, Hospice can be traced to the early middle ages from the 5th to the 15th century. It all began back in the late 1940 s, a Physician named Dame Cicely Saunders, began working with terminally ill patients; her involvement by helping these terminally ill patients, led her on a journey of forming the first hospice, St. Christopher s Hospice, in London, England back in the late 1960 s. In and around the early 1960 s, Saunders made a visit to Yale University, to present a comprehensive hospice lecture to the medical students and faculty. Scott Momaday and Take My Saddle from the Wall: A Valediction, by Larry McMurtry, both seek to understand the values and traditions of an old way of life that has been lost to the trials and tribulations of time. McMurtry creates a story about his family, based on their accounts left to him in memoirs and letters throughout the years. McMurtry s ultimate purpose is to narrate an expressive literary essay that uses humor and drama to attract the attention of the reader. While discussing cowboys and their straightforward wisdom, he concludes that cowboys observations turn into aphorisms. One such aphorism he finds particularly appealing is as follows: A woman s love is like the morning dew, it s just as likely to fall on a horseturd as on a rose (149). McMurtry also includes a great deal of drama and suspense as well. At one point, he recalls his grandfather s troublesome drinking; one day his grandmother issued an ultimatum, sober up or she would leave him. The threat was undoubtedly made in earnest, and he took it so immediately to heart that he stopped drinking then and there, with a jug half full of whiskey hanging in the saddle room of the barn (143). Additionally, a substantial difference between the two essays is the author s view of their ancestors. McMurtry admits that he never considered genealogy much of an aid to recognition, and thus never pursued [his] lineage any distance at all (143). The Oecd Report Teachers Matter The OECD report Teachers Matter identifies that teachers have a huge demand on them by schools to deal effectively with different languages, different students backgrounds, to be extremely sensitive of gender and culture, to promote tolerance and social cohesion and to respond efficiently to disadvantaged children (OECD, 2005). Also with the presence of the number of children with SEN in classrooms, it is very important that teachers are prepared to teach all children regardless of their learning needs, intellectual, emotional, behavioural and social and physical capabilities (Cardona, 2009). Teachers therefore need confidence in their ability to deal with these demands and be set to deal with them in the present school climate (De Boer et al, 2010). Marin (2014) discusses the issue of inclusion and how important it has become in today s education system. Her study focuses on whether teachers are generally prepared to deal with students with SEN in mainstream schools, the advantages and disadvantages of inclusion in schools, and whether teachers need any additional training in the field of special education to respond to the needs of SEN children. Her report found (using a quantitative approach for her investigation) that 66.2% of teacher s from the research had encountered students with SEN. This is a significantly high number and suggests that teachers have to be prepared to deal with, and respond to those kid s needs, and diversity in the classroom. For the purpose ... Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other. To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds. The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards, floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across the property. No Sympathy for Slaves in Mark Twain s Work No Sympathy to Slaves Many writers on the African American diaspora have attempted to capture the black experience in America, although some to no avail. Most Black authors like Zora Neal Hurston, Martin Delaney, and countless others have succeeded in painting the most accurate image of black people with the characters in their stories. Nevertheless, some authors fail in their portrayal of black people by using recycled economic stereotypes, highly metonymic based characters, and Fetishization. Mark Twain is the author of two very important, however controversial, stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mark twain avails himself as a racist because of his little consideration to portray black people in an accurate manner. Moreover, Twain commits a similar fallacy regarding the construction of Tom Chambres character in Huck Finn. Even before the onset of slavery and the Trans Atlantic slave trade, Europeans have been devilishly curious, interested, fascinated, and even fearful about anything African, mainly African physical and sexual prowess. Further, some whites even went to the extremes of randomly lynching black men. These lynchings included a number of things, but largely involved the castration of Black men; white men were fearful that black men would ravish their women in light of perceived African sexual deviancy. In her book, Playing in the Dark, Morrison encourages readers to consider the concept of Fetishization. This term applies to the absolutism of humanity and savagery. It highlights the purity of white blood in light of possible poisoning and pollution by African blood. The connotation here is that everything white is pure and clean, while grotesque, dirty, deviant, and ungodly is the nature of everything African. The Communicative Approach The present Unit of Work could be framed pedagogically into The Communicative Language Teaching Approach (CLT), together with the Project Work and the CEFRL´s Action Oriented Approach. The Communicative Approach emerged at the end of 1960s and early 1970s when a series of circumstances, motivated by the emerging society, evidenced the necessity of adapting the language teaching learning process to the new contextual demands. Until then, the Situational Language Teaching, widely extended, and other teaching approaches in the field had centred on the mastery of structures. • 22. Literary Devices Used In The Raven By Edgar Allen Poe Matthew Hylton ENG 200 030 December 7, 2017 The Raven Edgar Allen Poe The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe is a first person narrative poem that is truly a dark poem of one s sanity when losing a loved one. The poem is eighteen stanzas long that contains 108 lines. The poem uses many literary and poetic devices to help construct the eerie atmosphere. Poe begins the poem by describing a setting that symbolizes darkness and death perfectly Once upon a midnight dreary (1). Poe uses an internal rhyme to heighten the effect of the setting. He does this to foreshadow the events that happen later on in the poem, that the reader will soon begin to understand the dreariness of the setting. Poe is a mastermind of using these devices to draw the reader in and help them understand the narrator on a deeper level during the reading of the poem. As stanza one continues, Poe uses an alliteration in line 3 of the poem, While I nodded, nearly napping (3), by using the repetition of the n sound throughout the stanza I would argue he is trying to build suspense of the narrator answering the door. Poe uses many rhyme schemes throughout the poem to give a bigger meaning to each word. The first stanza is no different. Poe uses many internal rhymes in the stanza, but even uses an end rhyme in lines 2, 3, 4, and 5. He uses the rhyme scheme ABCBBB in the first stanza. As Poe continues, the narrator begins to remember his lost loved one Lenore . Poe begins to go darker into the poem creating an even larger suspense, and added dramatic effect as the narrator slowly approaches the door to open it. Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December; (6) Poe is using symbolism again to further his dark atmosphere that he created in the first stanza. Poe is trying to get the reader to understand the severity of the narrator s depression about Lenore . Poe in the very next line continues his emphasis on the eeriness that is this poem s atmosphere. By describing the embers of the fire going out, he is creating an image of darkness soon approaching. Because once the embers go out, the light goes out. I would argue that Poe is foreshadowing even more of what will happen later in the poem. As the stanza continues, you soon realize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007). Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business? The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). In the system the energy consumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated water and pressure could be adjusted. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the water has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to minimalise heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as cooling water towers were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for recirculated water in chemical process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling air flow is fed up through a system of slats that will increase the surface area of the water being cooled. As water falls down through the tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool the stream as more heat is expelled in the form of latent heat. • 35. A Comparison Of Hills Like White Elephants And Happy Endings Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway and Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood share a gender oriented theme. They both show women struggling to attain equality against their male partners. This theme is depicted through the use of symbolism, point of view and plot conflict. Symbolically, Hills like White Elephants represents a choice. It is a life choice that can t be undone once it is made. This choice is about whether or not Jig, the female character of the story, should get an abortion. It supports the theme because if Jig chooses to keep the baby she is defying the wishes of her male partner, who is simply referred to as the man, and taking a stand for women by doing so. However it is not entirely clear what choice she makes at the end of the story. Her only words being, I feel fine...There s nothing wrong with me. I feel fine (216). The interpretation some people take for this is that she decided to keep the baby and chose to defy male domination. In Happy Endings the main symbols are how the relationships end be it cheating, age, or health complications. Cheating is symbolic of the relationship being dominated by only one person involved in it. Age is symbolic of both partners sharing or being equal in the relationship. Secondly, one of the purposes articulated was to reduce gun use, a data from 2008 to 2011 shows 27% increase in stop and frisks and shootings had not gone down, the number of shooting actually rose. Third, the stop and frisk policy was just another form of crime fighting tool implemented by the NYPD and it is difficult to isolate the effectiveness of this policy. In other words, there was no benefit of this policy. However, it cost community policing relations with minority to diminish due to how law enforcement treated minorities during the implementation of stop and frisk. There are specific recommendations that can be set forth to improve the stop and frisk. The first recommendation involved (1) improving training of NYPDs officers as to the laws governing the policy to ensure that the officers are in accordance with the law; (2) changing the current incentives from measuring the number of stops to considering the results of the stops; (3) considering pilot program testing to use audio or visual recording stop and frisks; and (4) establishing an oversight monitor to ensure the implementation of the ... • 38. I Am Not A Good Person The Beginning of my Story Tattoos have long been seen as flaws on the body, the signs of a delinquent, and a painted on sign saying, I am not a good person . For years, my own parents butchered my love for the art. They told me I d regret each and every one I got. Their words always just went in one ear and out the other. I always told them I d prove them wrong and the stereotype of tattooed people wrong. I am twenty years old now with seven tattoos on various regions of my body. I have two large tattoos on my left arm, three smaller tattoos on my right arm, one large one on my back, and one small one on my chest. Those are just the ones I already have, by the end of all my glorious tattoo sessions; I hope to have approximately twenty five to thirty tattoos covering my body. As Johnny Depp once said, My body is my journal and my tattoos are my story , that is the motto I live by regarding my present and future tattoos. It was cold and the air was crisp as I awoke for class at six in the morning on November 24th, 2014. I slowly awoke from my deep sleep while throwing the nearest clothes on and getting my backpack together for math class. I trudged through my house and out to my car like a pig through mud. Looking at my watch, I realized I had only 25 minutes to get to class. I sped out of my driveway like a racehorse out of the gate without hesitation. Cars on the road were bright orange cones I had to pass with quick precision and timing. With three minutes to spare, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is about a republican sniper that has the face of a scholar that is involved in the Irish civil war. The story the sniper uses suspenseful phrases such as hurriedly, immediately, suddenly, and slowly to describe the pace of the story. The thesis of The Sniper is that the story uses timing to create suspense. The story the sniper uses back to back action to create suspense. One example of this in the story the sniper is when an armoured car appeared along with an informant, which the sniper kills. Right after this the sniper gets shot by an enemy sniper across the road. This makes the story suspenseful because the events are happening rapidly which shows how often danger was evident. The sniper raised his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. As a (computer) scientist, this student has no personal problem with the theory of evolution. However, since the debate of whether or not evolution actually exists is still alive and well today, a brief exploration of the arguments against is not only interesting, but also increasingly necessary. Why is there such disparity over this topic over one hundred and fifty years later? In order to understand the contrary side of this debate, the question must be asked: why would evolution not be possible? . This student will walk through possible reasons someone might not accept evolution as a scientific theory, as well as some of the more well known arguments , and provide responses to those arguments from the side of evolutionary science . The first thing one must understand is that there are many different factions of people that do not believe in evolution. This is not to disparage those of lower education or less privilege, but meant to illustrate the ease in which misgivings about evolution pervade the social circles of certain groups of people. These people range in religious background, gender, and nationality. One of the only things most people have in common if they do not accept evolution as a scientific theory is education. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch of students reacting and laughing to situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested.
