The Flood Assessment Group at Dublin City Council convened regularly in preparation for a series of exceptionally high tides from December 28th to January 6th. Measures were put in place to monitor conditions and mitigate flood risks, including temporary flood defenses, communications with agencies, and advising the public. While some flooding of roads and infrastructure occurred due to the highest tide ever recorded, preemptive actions helped prevent major property flooding. However, more permanent flood protections are still needed for vulnerable areas like Clontarf.
