CHEMICAL DETAILS-Polyester resins
Polyester resins are unsaturated synthetic resins formed by the reaction of
dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols . Maleic Anhydride is a commonly
used raw material with di-acid functionality. Polyester resins are used in sheet
moulding compound , bulk moulding compound and the toner of laser printers .
Wall panels fabricated from polyester resins reinforced with fiberglass — so-
called fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) — are typically used in restaurants,
kitchens, restrooms and other areas that require washable low-maintenance
walls. Polyester resins are thermosetting and, as with other resins, cure
exothermically. The use of excessive catalyst can, therefore, cause charring or
even ignition during the curing process. Excessive catalyst may also cause the
product to fracture or form a rubbery material.
CHEMICAL DETAILS-Methyl-ethyl ketone
peroxide
Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) is an organic peroxide.
Dilute solutions of 30 to 60% MEKP are used in industry and by hobbyists
as the catalyst which initiates the Crosslinking of unsaturated polyester
resins used in glass-reinforced plastic, and casting. MEKP is a severe skin
irritant and can cause progressive corrosive damage or blindness.
CHEMICAL DETAILS-cobalt accelerator
It is used as a catalyst in order to enhance the rate of reaction between MEKP
and polyester resin. It is added 30ml in 1litre of MEKP + polyester resin

CONCLUSION
 Failure load for bamboo reinforced beam is 40kN which is nearly twice lesser
than RCC beam as per test conducted.
 Cost for bamboo reinforced beam is comparatively lesser than RCC beam
which is been mention earlier hence cost of project is reduced.
 Weight for bamboo reinforced beam is comparatively lesser than RCC beam
hence there is overall reduction in dead load.
 Hence it may be used for G+1 but not for more.
 Also applicable in low cost housing.
 Economically checked.

  • 18. CHEMICAL DETAILS-Polyester resins Polyester resins are unsaturated synthetic resins formed by the reaction of dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols . Maleic Anhydride is a commonly used raw material with di-acid functionality. Polyester resins are used in sheet moulding compound , bulk moulding compound and the toner of laser printers . Wall panels fabricated from polyester resins reinforced with fiberglass — so- called fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) — are typically used in restaurants, kitchens, restrooms and other areas that require washable low-maintenance walls. Polyester resins are thermosetting and, as with other resins, cure exothermically. The use of excessive catalyst can, therefore, cause charring or even ignition during the curing process. Excessive catalyst may also cause the product to fracture or form a rubbery material.
  • 19. CHEMICAL DETAILS-Methyl-ethyl ketone peroxide Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) is an organic peroxide. Dilute solutions of 30 to 60% MEKP are used in industry and by hobbyists as the catalyst which initiates the Crosslinking of unsaturated polyester resins used in glass-reinforced plastic, and casting. MEKP is a severe skin irritant and can cause progressive corrosive damage or blindness.
  • 20. CHEMICAL DETAILS-cobalt accelerator It is used as a catalyst in order to enhance the rate of reaction between MEKP and polyester resin. It is added 30ml in 1litre of MEKP + polyester resin

CONCLUSION  Failure load for bamboo reinforced beam is 40kN which is nearly twice lesser than RCC beam as per test conducted.  Cost for bamboo reinforced beam is comparatively lesser than RCC beam which is been mention earlier hence cost of project is reduced.  Weight for bamboo reinforced beam is comparatively lesser than RCC beam hence there is overall reduction in dead load.  Hence it may be used for G+1 but not for more.  Also applicable in low cost housing.  Economically checked.
