David Leb founded Eco Wave Power in 2011 to harness energy from ocean waves. The company installed its first wave energy power plant in the Black Sea in recognition of Earth Day, which generates electricity through buoys that convert wave motion into electricity via fluid pressure and a generator. Leb was inspired to create Eco Wave Power after observing how surfers use wave power to propel themselves towards shore.

With global concerns about energy prices and sustainability, finding
renewable energy sources is an important endeavor. Solar, wind,
hydroelectric (energy from dams) and geothermal sources are all
currently utilized, and since May 2012 harvesting energy from ocean
waves is also a reality. Founded by David Leb in 2011, Israel-based
Eco Wave Power is a leader in converting wave power into electricity.
David Leb came up with the idea for Eco Wave Power while watching
surfers use the using the power of the waves to move them toward
shore. As he watched this he realized it may be possible to use wave
energy in other ways that could benefit society.

The company recently installed its first fully operational Wave Energy Power
Plant in the Black Sea, in recognition of the month of Earth Day. The Eco Wave
Power technology harvests electricity through buoys that move with the ocean
current, converting mechanical motion into clean electricity. A subsea cable
delivers the movement from the buoys to shore via fluid pressure, which then
is used to spin a generator and produce electricity. The floats that anchor the
buoys can be attached to many offshore structures, including breakwaters,
peers, poles, or fixed platforms. On a large scale, enough floats would be
placed to ensure continuous lifting of the buoys and uninterrupted energy
production.
