Sociology is the study of society, study of social relationship, study of human
behaviour in groups, study of social event, and study of man in society. It seeks to discover
the laws that govern social relation and forces that develop the personality of the individual.
Sociology is the scientific study of the process of interaction of persons and the patterns
thus formed in relation to its biological, psychological and cultural influences.
3. EDUCATION

Society refers to a group of individuals who share common
culture, values, and norms, and who interact with one
another within a specific geographical area.
It encompasses the social relationships and interactions
among individuals, as well as the institutions and structures
that shape their behaviour and experience
Society is characterized by its diversity and complexity, and
plays a crucial role in shaping individual’s identities, beliefs,
and opportunities.
5. RELATION BETWEEN
SOCIOLOGY AND EDUCATION
Education is a social process bound to influence the society. It is one of the major
institutions of society. It is a creation of society for its own wellbeing and its very existence.
It is evident that education and sociology are interrelated, interdependent and both
disciplines influence each other
School is a microcosm, the school is of society not merely in it and most certainly it is not
apart from society, implies the reciprocal relation between school and society
Educational sociology, the subfield of sociology focuses specifically on the social processes
and structures within educational institutions.
6. The whole superstructure of education has depended upon social forces,
needs and demands. Education is one of the social problems for it is
widely concerned with the development of man.
Sociology deals with every aspects of education and two have an
inevitable reciprocal relationship.
Overall, sociology and education are interconnected in their efforts to
understand and address the complex relationship between individuals, society
and educational system. By studying this relationship, sociologists and educators
can work together to improve educational outcomes and create more equitable
and inclusive learning environments.
