INTRODUCTION: In this reflection paper, I will be discussing the R v Mann case.
In this case, the specific issue from that judgement I wish to address is whether race
is necessary to acknowledge in the dimensions regarding the police detention
practices. This reflection paper will first acknowledge how the Supreme Court of
Canada could have factored in raceinto its analysis in R v Mann. Next, the paper
will examine the case through the lens of the Critical Race Theory (CRT) and
cultural competence to help better understand the issue of race. I will then conclude
my paper with a brief discussion of the next steps to address where to go from here
regarding the issue of race.
REFLECTION:
This topic is of great interest to me because I was fortunate enough to grow up in a
community, surrounded by five First Nations reserves. I chose this case because in
my community, an RCMP officer pled guilty to assault causing bodily harm to an
Indigenous man and abandoning him 10 kilometres outside of town. Similar to the R
v Mann case, race was also neglected from the case in my community.
R v Mann established that a police officer must have reasonable grounds when
stopping and detaining a particular individual for investigation. However, I disagree
with the court failing to adequately address the racial dimensions as I believe the
Supreme Court of Canada could have used systematic racism to explain why the
officer reacted in such a manner into its analysis in this case. Race was prevalent to
the arrest of Mann because Mann was stopped based on the fact that he had matched
the race of the known suspect. Significantly, race was a dominant part of the
description, mostly since the clothing he was wearing was inconsistent with that part
of the suspect s description. Though, the problem is that given our history of overt
and systemic racism, race often unconsciously becomes the dominant part of the
description used by police. Whether or not the police officers are heavily relying on
their intuition, does not negate that those intuitions can be influenced or distorted by
unconscious racism.

Foods that are genetically engineered should not be falsely advertised as natural
because they are anything but. According to Anahad O Connor, some food
companies are telling the public that their food is natural, but the term natural is
loosely defined in the food industry. Those food companies wrongly advertising that
their product is all natural however, those who think that natural foodis that without
pesticides, hormones, artificial ingredients, and GMO are sadly mistaken. And even
though many lawsuits have been filed and the courts have requested the F.D.A.

In my short but fast career since my hiring to Federal service as an intern a decade

Character Analysis Of Doctor Manette
In the unabridged text of A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, Doctor Manette
is a dynamic character who changes from weak to independent proving recovery is
possible. This novel takes the reader on a journey throughout the French Revolution
by using the connections of characters living in two different cities. Doctor
Manette is a rescued prisoner who moves in with his daughter. Along the way, they
learn how to support one another and survive the chaos of the revolution. Doctor
Manette must strengthen himself in order to survive during this time. In the
beginning, he starts off relying on his daughter, Lucie Manette. In the nighttime,
Ladybird has learnt to know then that his mind is walking up and down... She
hurries to him, and they go on together... (74). This establishes Doctor Manette s
needs because his mind is focused on being in prison and he needs to recover.
When Doctor Manette gets in these small fits, Lucie will walk back and forth in
the halls to help him. He is fragile and needs the support from his daughter. These
fits could last anywhere from a few hours to nine days. As the story continues,
Doctor Manette found ways to cope so they did not happen as frequently. One way
was dexterously fixing shoes. In the morning, he was up betimes, and went straight to
his bench and to work (151). This exhibits Doctor Manette recovering because
putting his mind to work during an episode allowed his memories of prison to vanish.

The At The Royal Chinese Restaurant
For a restaurant that s practically busy most of the time and serves many people,
this is the best restaurant where a variety of customers can expand their palate and
try this Chinese food experience. This place is the type of Chinese restaurant that
was everywhere in Toronto back in the day, but now? It s quickly becoming a
novelty. The Royal Chinese Restaurant is located on Sheppard Ave E in a plaza
complex. To actually get into the restaurant? Hectic. Reservations only by
telephone or if you re lucky, a table for 2 will be ready in a blink of an eye. The
Royal Chinese Restaurant has a banquet effect to it s style with advertisements of
specials lined up against the wall, but only written in Chinese. The service was
very quick and fast. The waiters/waitresses were very polite and friendly towards
each and every customer, giving a warm welcome and making the customers feel
comfortable within the dining environment. One particular dish that I had ordered
was the shrimp and rice dish. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. The colour was
perfectly pink and not translucent. Not overcooked and not undercooked. Just right
for my taste. One bite into of the shrimps and it was juicy. Presentation wise, the
shrimp was cut down the middle with the shell still on and was placed in the middle
of the rice bowl for a clean and appropriate presentation. With the clear juices running
from the shrimp and onto the glutinous rice for a more shrimp tasting dish. The
