Managing volumes of paper-based documents is undoubtedly the biggest challenge every business organization faces. It hampers the productivity of staff as people spend hours of unproductive time on storage, archival, sharing, and retrieval of paper. In order to look for a particular information, one needs to flip through the entire file, page after page.

9 Steps to Successful Information Lifecycle Management: Best Practices for Efficient Database Archiving
Executive Summary
Organizations that use prepackaged ERP/CRM, custom, and third-party applications are seeing their production databases grow exponentially. At the same time, business policies and regulations require them to retain structured and unstructured data indefinitely. Storing increasing amounts of data on production systems is a recipe for poor performance no matter how much hardware is added or how much an application is tuned. Organizations need a way to manage this growth effectively.
Over the past few years, the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has promoted the concept of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) as a means of better aligning the business value of data with the most appropriate and cost-effective IT infrastructure—from the time information is added to the database until it can be destroyed. However, the SNIA does not recommend specifi c tools to get the job done or how best to use tools to implement ILM.
This white paper describes why data archiving provides a highly effective application ILM solution and how to implement such an archiving solution to most effectively manage data throughout its
life cycle.
Findability and discoverability of information / records in an organization is dependent on how much it has been worked on in terms of metadata identification, scope notes, etc.
Users are interested in getting the right information that serves their purpose. The content ought to be grouped (classified) so as to enhance its findability. The term taxonomy has bee used in the document to denote indexing.

What is Information Lifecycle Management? Information Lifecycle Management (“ILM”) is a sustainable storage strategy that balances the cost of storing and managing information with its business value.
"Our file shares are a cluttered mess. Users have been dumping information into our drives without direction and it has built up over years.”
This is what we hear from nearly every organization we encounter. The thought of classifying, organizing and automatically disposing of mountains (electronically speaking) of information is very intimidating.
For most organizations, having to store files at offsite facilities is just a fact of life. The problem is that this can get expensive, eating up valuable records management budget.
If your organization could benefit from a reduction in offsite storage expenditures, then you'll want to check out this Slideshare of storage tips and best practices.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
