This document discusses recommendations for enterprise monitoring using IBM's Tivoli Composite Application Manager (ITCAM) and Netcool OMNIbus. It recommends: 1) standardizing situations in ITM to focus on specific monitoring areas, 2) utilizing situation actions in ITM to model responses, and 3) modifying events in Tivoli probes to have a common format within Netcool OMNIbus for improved event management. • Though SmartCloud Monitoring (ITM) was in the picture,
different agents are collecting different types of data
• 90-95% of the time, the customer was not leveraging the full
capabilities of the Tivoli toolset

a MOM based tool

area or platform over and above what comes with the Out-Of-The-Box

In the interim of having a MOM based tool, consider utilizing the Situation
action component when building situations, and model all of your situations
to utilize it (i.e. email)

can be modified to have a prefix, suffix that promotes a common format
