L.I. To learn how to use a microscope.
Using a microscope
Every animal and plants and all their organs are made up of simple building blocks called cells.
Cells are so small they can only be seen under a microscope. A group of cells is called a tissue.
Parts of the microscope:
1. Coarse focus
2. Fire focus
3. Mirror
4. Eyepiece lens
5. Tube
6. Objective lens

Cells
Take a thin layer of cells. Put the layer of cells on the slide. Put a drop of water on the slide. Lower
a cover-slip onto the slide.
Cytoplasm- A liquid where chemicals changes happen.
Nucleus- Packets of green colour which help the plant make food.
Cell membrane- This surrounds the cell. It lets things move in and out of the cell.
Cell wall- This controls everything that happens inside the cell.
Vacuole- A space filled with a liquid. It is only found in plant cells.
Chloroplasts-A tough wall around plant cells. It supports the cell.

Different types of cell
Red Blood cell- Carys oxygen around the body. They do not have a nucleus. This gives them more
room to carry more oxygen .
Sperm cell- Produce by a male animal joins with the egg from the first cell of a new baby. To help it
swim a long way, it has a long tail.
Egg cell- They are large so they can store a lot of food. Once the egg and sperm have joined
together, the new baby needs the food to help it develop properly.
Nerve cells-Carry message around your body. Nerve cells are long so they can carry messages a
long way.

Tissues- Group of cell gathered together. Organs are parts of cell/tissues. They always perform
doing the same jobs and look the same. Tissues are not only in humans but they are also in animals
and plants.
Organs- Tissue putting together makes an organ which makes an organ system. Organ 1, organ 2,
organ 3 and organ 4arre connected together. They are important to our body to make us live.
Sensory system- Eyes, ears and nose.
Reproductive system- Ovaries and testers.
Blood system- Heart and blood vessels.
Excretory- Kidney And liver
Breathing system- Wind wipe
