Reaction Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Reaction Essays" can present both challenges and opportunities
for exploration. On one hand, crafting a reaction essay demands a keen ability to critically
engage with a given subject matter, synthesizing personal insights with scholarly or contextual
understanding. This can require a significant amount of time and effort to gather relevant
information, analyze it thoroughly, and articulate one's reactions in a coherent and persuasive
manner.
Moreover, the nature of reaction essays often necessitates a delicate balance between subjective
responses and objective analysis. Writers must navigate between expressing their own thoughts,
feelings, and opinions while also grounding their arguments in evidence, research, or theoretical
frameworks. Striking this balance can be tricky, as too much subjectivity may undermine the
essay's credibility, while an overemphasis on objectivity might dilute the personal voice and
insights that make reaction essays compelling.
Furthermore, the process of writing a reaction essay often involves wrestling with complex ideas,
perspectives, or texts. This intellectual engagement requires not only a strong grasp of the subject
matter but also the ability to critically evaluate and respond to it in a meaningful way. It
demands a depth of understanding and insight that can be challenging to achieve, particularly
when grappling with nuanced or contentious issues.
However, despite these challenges, writing a reaction essay can also be a rewarding endeavor. It
provides an opportunity for individuals to explore their own thoughts and reactions in relation to
a particular topic, deepening their understanding and fostering intellectual growth. Additionally,
crafting a well-written reaction essay allows writers to contribute their unique perspective to
ongoing conversations or debates within a given field, enriching the discourse with fresh insights
and analyses.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Reaction Essays" requires careful navigation of
subjective and objective elements, critical engagement with complex ideas, and the ability to
articulate personal reactions in a clear and compelling manner. While it may pose certain
difficulties, the process can also be intellectually stimulating and ultimately rewarding for those
willing to invest the time and effort.

Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements

Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Many people believe Tobias Wolff is
considered much of a critic mainly because his childhood was affected by his
parent s separation. Little by little, he started to become like a critic until he went to
the army. Furthermore, when he came back he became more pessimistic than critical
some might say. His short stories are acknowledged by many readers because of the
true meaning of aspirations some people could think they can make out of it. Some
say Wolff created a new thinking perspective by creating the short storyBullet in the
Brain . The reason readers say that is because the story ends up being more profound
that they would have thought when they read it from the beginning. It all starts off
with a negative person who can t keep his mouth shut. Then, that very same person is
shot in the head having his last memories be something unusual that an average
person would not have recalled as their last memory. Although Tobias Wolfflived an
unusual lifestyle, he turns out to write one of the best short stories Bullet in the
Brain , by using irony, imagery, theme, style, and tone all within a few pages; which
shows why his childhood affected this writing piece he has created. In 2001 when the
audience read Wolff s short story Bullet in the Brain , they realized that there were a
various amount of meaningful elements. However, there are more critical than
positive elements.
Federalist And Dual Federalism
The United States under the Articles of Confederation had a Federalist nation in its
truest and basest sense. Originally, the Articles united the separate states together
under an extremely weak central Congress with few powers. That left most of the
powers of government with the states, which caused many problems in terms of
regulation and protection of rights and liberties. Most states had different currencies,
taxes, protections of rights (in the individual state constitutions), and other policies
that made it difficult for the states to coexist, however, with the power in the
individual states, most policy more closely reflected the peoples of the region. When
it became clear that the Articles of Confederation were no longer working... Show

They also argued that the federal courts would be too far away from the average
citizen to provide justice, something they extended to the other federal branches of
government as well. When debating the content of the Constitution, Anti Federalists
called for a clearer articulation of the rights of the people and government, which
brought about more compromises and content in the ratified Constitution. Delaware
was the first state who voted, unanimously, to ratify the Constitution on December 7,
1787 and Rhode Island was the last state to ratify it almost three years later on May
29, 1790 (archives.gov, 2016). The document was able to go into effect earlier
because ratification only required nine votes for it from the states, which only took 10
months through New Hampshire (archives.gov, 2016). Many states who approved
ratification later did so under the requirement that the Framers added a declaration of
rights to the Constitution. Throughout the ratification process, before the first state
even ratified the Constitution and through 1790, several people wrote The Federalist
Papers under the pseudonym Publius. They were a collection of papers supporting
the ratification of the new Constitution and the formation of a more democratic
republic. Federalist Paper #10 was written by James Madison in 1787 and contains
one of the best arguments for the formation of the new
Banning Zoos
I think that zoos should be banned because I believe that all animal should have
freedom and not be captured and put in a cage and viewed by people. Imagine you re
at the zoo and you see a lion pacing back and forth what do you think? Is he ok?
One reason I think animals should be released into the wild is the people that work
at the zoo don t build them a normal habit by normal I mean may not be the right
temperature or not good room. My evidence is polar bears live in the cold big
atlantic at the zoo it s warm and small. I Also think they should make the habit bigger
for the animals. Another fact is the zoo s enclosure is 1000 times smaller than the
freedom they get in the wild. That s why i think animals should be free.
The Great Gatsby- Color Symbolism
The Power of Color Colors are used many different ways by many different people,
but are used mainly as a reflection of the way one feels or his or her own
personality. This idea is depicted through the different characters created in F. Scott
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, set in the post World War I era. The novel evinces the
major themes through the use and explanation of many diverse colors. Jay Gatsby, the
most significant character in the story, leads a very materialistic lifestyle. Hoping to
gain back his old love, Daisy, Gatsby uses his money to impress her, hopefully
leading to their settling down together. Daisy s second cousin once removed, Nick
Carraway, is the link that helps to connect Gatsby and Daisy. Nick deliberately...

Caught in the romantic atmosphere of the night, Nick puts [his] arm around Jordan
s golden shoulder (Fitzgerald 79). Both description serve to symbolize the fact that
she is happy and quite valuable, as of now, to Nick. While gold and silver are two
valuable colors to the characters, gray symbolizes the corruption behind the money.
One depressing color that is quite significant to the story happens to be the very dull
gray. Gray represents the neutral, dull and corrupt society that resides in America. It
is seen, through some of the structures, that corruption has made a big impact on
everyone surrounding them. One such structure, that is only mentioned briefly, is the
villages in France. When Nick first meets and talks to Gatsby, they bring up how both
men look familiar to one another. Ironically, they both took part in some section of
World War I, Gatsby, in the ninth machine gun battalion, and Nick, in the Seventh
Infantry (Fitzgerald 47). During the quick recapitulation of the war, [they] talked for
a moment about some wet, gray little villages in France (Fitzgerald 47). These
villages represent the corruption and destruction that the war has brought to the
people and society of France. Another gray structure is the windows at Gatsby house.
Even though Gatsby is a man of money and success, the gray windows on his home
signify that this happiness is just a facade, and that in reality, there is much
fraudulence hidden within Gatsby
Setting Boundaries Dimarco Analysis
Setting boundaries is when someone marks their limits, determining how much
their friends, neighbors, family, and strangers can have access to in their life. I
strongly believe that creating boundaries is a crucial to do to be respected,
protected, and stay healthy. Since I can remember, my family has always instilled in
me that having my own boundaries are essential because they are part of self care.
Thus, forming boundaries are fundamental for one s life because without them,
anyone can interfere and manipulate your life. Setting Boundaries is the title of an
essay by DiMarco, in which she discusses the differences of several kinds of
boundaries. She states that boundaries are either physically or physiologically.
Physical boundaries being
Dehumanization Of Bullying In Schools
What is the definition of bullying? It is getting pleasure from someone else s pain
and not feeling any type of remorse or regret for your actions. Bullying is
unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children and adults that involves
a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential
to be repeated, over time. Both kids and adults who are bullied and who bully others
may have serious, lasting problems. In the same aspect bullyingis unquestioned
obedience to authority, rootinazation of cruelty and dehumanization of another
human being (Services, 2015) (Somante, 2014).
The most important step in research that I felt I needed to use for this paper is
working with existing information. I felt it was necessary for this decision simply
because the information was presented by a lady by the name of Barbara Coloroso.
She has actually researched the topic of bullying in school yards and bullying in the
general sense. Being a parent herself, she actually discussed some key points that can
very easily become agents of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children reflect on what the parents present. Children who bully believe that their
parents would not forgive them if they did something wrong. Arguably, they learn
from their parents to be unforgiving towards others, and feel justified in acting
aggressively (Rigby, 2013). For example, at a young age I had my first experience
with racism which lead to me personally being a bully. I learned term like chink ,
cracker , honkey , spic and etc. I took these labels to school with me. Certain people
they were different than I suffered the consequences of being different. I tormented
them, called them names pushed them around, and took their lunch monies. Another
example, I had and older brother that tortured me every chance he got. He beat me
up, locked me in closets, took my money and pushed me around. So naturally I
learned things from home and took them to
One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Summary
One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel written by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
first published in November 1962, the author writes about the life of Ivan, he
explains one day of the life of a prisoner in a Gulag. In a way Ivan represents
Aleksandr, as this author went through this too. The author experienced the Gulag
system from 1945 to 1953; at this time Joseph Stalin was in repression and was in
charge of this work camps . Aleksandr enters in the mind of Ivan and declares his
feelings through oppression and stress in this cruel and monotony work camp.
During this time of Soviet Communism with Stalin in charge, people were not
allowed to talk about the camps, everyone knew these camps existed but it was
extremely dangerous to criticize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book only concentrates in the present; Shukhov does not talk about his future
conditions: How is it going to end? Will I die here ?
Shukhov explains how his daily life is in this camp without giving importance to his
future.
When he talks about the food, he explains to us how important it is to get his food
that day, but it seems to be that he does not really care about the rest of the days, he
thinks only of the present. This means that it is a completely same routine since he
started until he completes the 10 years.
The writer uses a simple vocabulary to express the feelings and experiences of
Shukhov which are really close to himself, as he lived the same as the character he
creates.
The writer creates a character which is hard worker, applied for work and constant;
he emphasizes like this how he was in him when he lived the same as the character.
Aleksandr explains to us how society treated the people, it made people fear and
suffer. It was a misery and hopeless to be in those camps but it was also ridiculous to
be a normal Soviet citizen as you were constantly living under the Soviet regime after

Editing and the Crisis of Open Source Essay
Editing and the Crisis of Open Source
The Free Software movement that began in 1985 and the newer open source
movement, represented a serious threat to traditional methods of production and
distribution. The idea of a non proprietary method of cultural exchange was and is a
radical departure from traditional models that have come to restrict creativity and free
exchange. In the ensuing years, there was a gradual drift away from ideas of non
proprietary toward ideas of access to software s code level. This mirrored an evident
diffusion of these open ideas into the cultural sphere. Open publishing, open editing,
open music, and open culture are now hip buzzwords that point toward a new cultural
formation based on a more free exchange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wikipedia.org, an open source encyclopedia, describes this conflict of terms.
It was hoped that the usage of the newer term open source would eliminate such
ambiguity, and would also be easier to market to business users (who might
mistakenly associate free software with anti commericalism). Since its introduction,
however, the open source label has been criticized for fostering an ambiguity of a
different kind: that of confusing it for mere availability of the source, rather than the
freedom to use, modify, and redistribute it.
One of the early defects of free software was the perceived inability to use it in for
profit ventures. Whereas the Free Software movement thinks of the freedom of
software s code to be available to all as an ethical and social imperative, open source
treats it as a practical issue. Both GPL and open source licenses can be used in for
profit ventures. Copylefted material must remain free for people to modify, but can
be priced for people to buy.
With the advent of the term open source, it now appears that everything is open
source, or is at least sold that way. When not applied to programming, open content
is used to describe a wide range of activities that have nothing to do with computer
software. There is still the problem of
Joe Obermueller Job Shadow Essay
For my job shadow I went to the University of Sioux Falls! There I was introduced
to Joe Obermueller who is the Assistant Professor and Director of theatre. I arrived
at the University of Sioux Falls November 15th. I think it was extremely interesting
that Obermueller was a professor and a director. Having both of those
responsibilities would be exceptionally stressful, Obermueller has two things that he
has to focus on in his career. He has to make sure that the academic side is tip top
and people are learning what they need to. But, he also has to focus on the upcoming
production that requires an abundance of work which causes him to stay at the school
until the late hours of the night. When I made it to the school, I marched into the

There wasn t anything I disliked about the shadow. I loved being in classes that is all
about, theatre, something I want to do in my future. Many people wish we had some
of those classes at West Central. We learned that being a professorisn t an easy thing
to achieve, but is one of the most fun and rewarding careers. An article I read on
Shmoop about theater directors state Theatre, as a form of creativity and
expression, is a fantastic way to reach across cultures and get down to our shared
humanity as well as our shared dislike for any play over three hours ( Day in the
life of a Theatre Director ). I also learned from Obermueller that interning at places
which is similar to the career I want to pursue can really help me later in life. Also,
I should begin looking into jobs that pertain to my future now rather than later.
Obermueller also made it very obvious that making relationships with people who
can get me to the places I want to go will really improve my chances in succeeding in
this career. So in conclusion, going to USF was an amazing experience and really
eased my nerves about college. It showed me college will be fun and having a
career in theatre is a challenging yet beneficial job. I really look forward to my
future now that I know more about what to
The Pros And Cons Of Scientology
Since, its creation in the 1950s, Scientology has faced harsh criticism in the United
States (Church of Scientology International, 1992). However, as Scientology
globalizes it faces even harsher societal and government led resistance to its
teachings, especially in Germany. The results of a poll concluded that 74% of
German citizens think Scientologyshould be banned from their country (as cited by
Chambers, 2007). In the United States, for example, expressions of distaste for
certain group are legally limited to microaggressions, while in Germany, citizens are
within their legal right to express their distaste in much more harmful ways. Many
compare Germany s actions against Scientology to their socialist regime during World
War II. Although Germany s methods verge on the edge of persecution and
discrimination, ultimately, Germany s opposition to Scientology is legal, and valid,
therefore they are justified in their continued opposition.
The Church of Scientology was founded in the 1950s by science fiction author L.
Ron Hubbard. The self described religion emerged from his then newly published
book entitled Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Dianetics is a
methodology which can help alleviate such elements as unwanted sensations and
emotions, irrational fears and psychosomatic illnesses (illnesses caused or aggravated
by mental stress) (Church of Scientology International, 1992).
The German government is completely justified in finding the actions
Equality In Society By Mary Wollstonecraft
In Of the Pernicious Effects Which Arise from the Unnatural Distinctions
Established in Society by Mary Wollstonecraft she discusses the inequality of
women in our society. In the words of Wollstonecraft, There must be equality
established in society, or morality will never gain ground, and this virtuous equality
will not rest firmly even when founded on a rock, if one half of mankind be chained
to its bottom by fate, for they will be continually undermining it through ignorance or
pride. According to Wollstonecraft, the only way for our society to become morally
sound, we must allow womanto be equal to man. She branches on the wealthy and the
unhealthy being that the wealthy disregards those not as fortunate and in this same
way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wollstonecraft feels if society were to grant women an opportunity to be independent
then they would be, successfully. Honestly, allowing women to be anything other
than just a woman would make her an overall better individual. Again, a woman is
herself before she is a wife or a mother, so she must continue to develop in all fields.
Women have a lot of potential to do things such as study politics, art, become
midwives, get jobs, and become self aware of their virtues. Women are just as
likely as anyone to cure diseases, help release people of legal dilemmas, and the
like. When we stifle the growth of one, we hinder the advances of many. As
women get married and adapt to a stable life, they have no way of acknowledging
their virtues. In order for women to be seen as more than wives and mothers they
must show how their virtues and independent selves can benefit the public.
Likewise, one title does not cancel out another for women. For instance, in order
for a woman to be a better citizen, a better mother, a better wife, she must be
allowed rational discourse. If a woman were to explore herself she would become
better in all aspects of self. Wollstonecraft makes independence out to be an
investment and if all men really do speak is money then it would be wise for them
to listen up. Women have to be acknowledged as individuals whether that be as a
married woman or a single woman
Richard Giotto Accomplishments
Giotto is considered the first painter of the Renaissance and his painting,
Lamentation, is a visual depiction of Europe s transition out of the Middle Ages
and into the new era. Born in 1270 in Vespignano Italy, very little of Giotto s early
life is known. He only became widely recognized when he started as an apprentice
of Cimabue, one of the greatest painters of his time. Cimabue painted in Byzantine
style which was an art form standardized during the Middle Ages. Byzantine art
was concerned primarily with religious expression and was characterized by heavy
lines and an overall flat quality. Artists drew from a standard facial type and also
emphasized color over form. Under Cimabue Giotto learned to paint and was
influenced by much of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compositionally, this piece is drastically different from Byzantine work. Although the
congregation of mourners fills up the bottom half of the painting, Christ s head is
dynamically off center. Instead of putting him in the middle and using placement to
make Christ the center of attention, Giotto used other compositional techniques to
draw attention to him. For example, a major leading line is created by the diagonal
rock in the background which draws the viewer s eye right to Christ s head. In
addition, through painting the other figures with their eyes dramatically turned
towards him, it further guides the viewer where to look, creating a dynamic focal
point. Giotto also experiments with the viewer s relation to the painting through both
the physical and the emotional. The background rock sections off the foreground
plane bringing the figures forward in the painting creating a shallow stage. However,
Giotto also painted figures from the back. This was a revolutionary idea that not only
emphasized the foreground, but aided in making the intermediate figures appear
further back in
Analysis Of The Book 1776 By David Mccullough
1776 by David McCullough Book Review 1776, a non fiction historical book, is
written by two time Pulitzer Prize winner David McCullough. The book revolves
around the American Revolution, hence the title 1776, and it accurately shows the
course of actions that have taken place in that year. 1776 is displays how America
became an independent nation and what the individuals during that time had to go
through to gain access to freedom and liberty. The Continental Congress approved
the Declaration of Independence, the nation s most cherished symbol of
independence, that same year on July 4. With education systems not going in depth

Commons on his position. This caused The House of Lords and the House of

between American and British troops. War between the Americans and the British
Empire appeared on April 19, 1775, at the battle of Lexington and Concord, near
Boston. Subsequently, the next battle took place and is commonly known as the
Battle of Bunker Hill, which occurred at Breed s Hill and Bunker Hill on June 17,

and their food and supplies were running dangerously low. Sadly, Britain got news
from their troops in America a month or two after things had happened to them. This
was due to the fact that Britain and the American colonies were separated by the
ocean, resulting of a 3,000 mile distance.
McCullough further uses The Siege to mention significant military figures that took
part during The American Revolution. These major characters include: George

Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls
There are many natural places all over the world. One of the places I have been to,
and really enjoyed, is Niagara Falls. This place is absolutely amazing. It has
amazing sights and scenes, as well as other fun tourist attractions. Going on the tour
at Niagara Falls taught me a lot about the site. I love this place because everytime I
go there I am sent to this place that I could find, it just takes me away I went to
Niagara Falls when I was about 12. I stepped out of the car and just hearing the
incredible sound of the Falls, I was taken. It was so loud, just a huge roar of all the
water going over the edge. It surprised me because I didn t think it would be that
loud. It only got louder and louder as I got to the rail by the edge of the fall. Seeing
the view of the falls took my breath away. Between the blue of the flowing river
water, the white of the rough water falling over the side, and the mist of the water
splattering off the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall, I was taken by its glory.
Add on the view of the city too and it was just an amazing experience for me. When
I went on the tour I was told a lot of facts that I found very interesting. For example,
on the American side it is 1060 feet long and 176 feet tall. It would be about 70
feet, but on account of the rocks at the base it is 176 feet. Also, the American side
has a volume of about 150,000 US Gallons. Being as young as I was, I was super
impressed with these numbers. They told me that they are two hydroelectric plants
in the area that change the volume of water that flows over. The volume depends
on the time of year and the time of day. The heaviest flow is travel season, June,
July, August, during the daytime. I found it incredible that these plants could
change the flow of water of something as grand as Niagara Falls. There are so
many other things to do in the Niagara Falls area other than just going to the railing
to see the Falls. You can go on tours, whether it s the daytime tours or the nighttime
tours. During the night tours the Falls are lit with lights that were placed behind the
waterfalls. The lights are all different colors and it is beautiful. During the daytime
tours it is just looking at the falls but it is
Different Types Of Necs Or Complex Plasmas
Dusty or complex plasmas consist of the usual combination of electrons, ions, and

As a result, the dust particles have a much smaller charge to mass ratio than
electrons and ions, which makes the time scales of dust dynamics comparatively
much longer. Additionally, the larger sized and highly massive particles possess a
very low thermal velocity and hence allow them to be visualized using laser
illumination and high speed cameras. Thus, dusty plasma offers an excellent
medium for studying various phenomena at single particle and fluid levels with
remarkable temporal and spatial resolutions. ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML )
In a typical laboratory experiment, the dust cloud is levitated near the sheath
boundary by balancing the electrostatic force due to the sheath electric field and the
gravity. The highly charged particles interact with each other via a strong electrostatic
potential that may exceed the thermal energy, and plasma becomes strongly coupled.
The strength of coupling can be determined by a coupling parameter О“, which is the
ratio of the interparticle coulomb potential energy to the dust thermal energy (

Single-Parent Households
Solving this single parent household issue in rape cases would be next to
impossible because of the difficulty that would be caused for the parents of the
child, especially the non consenting parent. By acknowledging these issues and
addressing them in a subtle but fast acting manner, we will ensure that no individual
is placed under the same laws as the consenting laws. To consider the above ideas
would be to open your mind to a future full of young adults with larger families and
support systems. By providing these children with larger circles of supporters at home

However, saying that a child with only one parent has more struggles than all
children with both parents present would be a false statement in itself, but to take
into consideration that more often than not do kids growing up in single parent

view it. Many times, children are not growing up in a household as an only child.
Because of this, many kids take on different roles around the house in order to help
the single parent who is typically working late hours in order to provide for their
children. By taking on roles such as the responsible older sibling who must take
care of younger children, making supper, doing laundry, and many other chores that
children growing up with two parents don t have to face at such a young age, these
kids will be given practice for the future. With this practice, they are set ahead of
other children their age because of the lack of such high responsibility being placed
on the backs of these dual parent
How Does Rap Music Affect Women
How does rap music and music videos today negatively portray women?
Rap has changed the faces of women in the community from a more positive image
to a more negative one. It is focused more on women s bodies and not their intellect.
Rap music portrays women by creating impossible beauty standards, dehumanizing
women and making women look inferior in the male s eye.
Rap music and videos portray women negatively by creating impossible beauty
standards. When watching videos such as Sir Mix A Lot s Baby Got Back, all
than is seen are skinny women with big breasts or big butts. When listening to
songs such as Tip Drill by Nelly, Nelly raps I said it must be the ass cause it ain t

In music videos, such as Lollipop by Lil Wayne and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke
women are used as eye candy to the male and possibly some female viewers. In an
article written by Erin Aubry some high school students where asked if rap music
disrespected women. One student stated that Women do things for the video that
they didn t have to do if they didn t want. (Aubry, 2015). Although this may be true,
the directors of the videos do not have to put those women in those clothes. The
main reason that women are put in the video is to attract viewers. Most male and
some female viewers watch music videos to look at the women who can also be
known as video vixens . Another example of this is the song Birthday Song by 2
Chainz. The video primarily focuses on the female s body parts and pays attention
only to her body parts. The song only focuses on the female s physical feature and
not on anything else. Women are used simply for pleasure in these music videos.
They are not put in these videos because the artist thought that the woman simply had
An Alien On Earth And Hunted Humans
Question One: If an alien race landed on Earth and hunted humans, we would need
many different protection methods. The five methods I think would benefit
humans the most in an alien invasion would be: venom, speed, webbed feet, strong
claws, and strong jaws. Venom would be very important for my protection because
I would rather kill the aliens, instead of avoiding them. In order to inject venom
into the aliens, humans would need to have sharper teeth. I would sneak up on an
alien and bite them. This could immobilize the alien once the venom affects them.
Two animals that utilize venom are spiders and snakes. Speed would be another
important protection method because if a group of aliens were chasing you, they
would not be able to keep up with your incredible speed. If you were traveling in a
large group, you could all go separate directions and confuse the aliens. They would
not be able to keep track of everyone or even be able to catch up to any human. This
would also include the speed of climbing things, such as trees and mountains. Two
animals that utilize this method of protection are the cobra and the rattlesnake.
Webbed feet would also be an important protection method for humans if they were
being hunted by aliens. Webbed feet are helpful for swimming and would allow
humans to swim quickly away from the predators. Webbed feet would make our feet
look a lot different than they do now. We would walk differently with webbed feet,
but would swim very fast. I am a slow
Aliens in This Immensity
Our sun is one of a hundred billion stars in our galaxy. Our galaxy is one of bilions
of galaxies populating the universe. It would be the height of presumption to think
that we are the only living thing in that enormous immensity. Werner von Braun
quoted these amazing words in the San Diego Union Tribune in 2005.

The James-Bard Bypothesis Of Feeling
The James Lange hypothesis of feeling was proposed by clinicians William James
and Carl Lange. As indicated by this hypothesis, as we encounter diverse occasions,
our sensory system creates physical responses to these occasions. Cases of these
responses incorporate expanded heart rate, trembling, irritated stomach, and so forth.
These physical responses thusly make enthusiastic responses, for example, outrage,
dread and pity.
For instance, envision sitting in a dim room without anyone else s input. All of a
sudden you hear breathing sound behind you. Your heart rate increments and you
may even start to tremble. You translate these physical reactions as you are terrified
thus you encounter fear.
Gun Bard Theory
The Cannon Bard hypothesis of feeling was created by physiologists Walter Cannon
and Philip Bard. As indicated by this hypothesis, we feel the feelings and experience
the physiological responses, for example, sweating, trembling and muscle strain at the
same time.
For instance, you are in a dim room without anyone else s input and abruptly you hear
breathing sound adjacent. As indicated by the Cannon Bard hypothesis, your heart
rate increments and you start to tremble. While you are encountering these physical
responses, you additionally encounter the feeling of dread.
HOW WE USE OUR EMOTIONS TO LEARN ABOUT OURSELVES, AND
OTHERS
According to Walter Cannon, our feelings are directed by the response of a little
structure in the cerebrum known as the thalamus. The
The Moment Of Stillness And Snap Of The Lens
The moment of stillness and snap of the lens is always satisfying. What makes a
picture exceptional is a change of perspective. Photography is the very culmination of
creativity, looking at the world through a lens that is simply different and changing
your way of thinking. Before I was introduced to photography, I was the type of
person to hate taking pictures at an event. It was a hassle and a distraction from
enjoying the present and the now. However, I was later inspired to look into
photography after seeing pictures that I never thought were possible from a simple
camera. It took me a while to grasp how to use it properly. The various photography
terms and methods were discouraging at first, but I gradually became experienced

What Does Alliteration In True Night Mean
True Night by Gary Snyder
In the poem True Night by the modernist and jollity poet Gary Snyder, shows an
amount of poetic devices that allow one to see the modernism values. Alliteration
and Onomatopoeia are some poetic devices the reader can notice within the text.
Modernism in the 20th century, the British public was faced with a series of events
that shook the world. Because of Britain s colonial past, many writers have had the
advantage and confusion of a double heritage. Writers from Ireland, Africa, and other
former British holdings all over the world have struggled to maintain a sense of their
own culture and traditions after being engulfed in those of the British. Gary Snyder

This justifies that simile is displayed in (Lns 5 6) and (Lns 45 47), as he describes

Taking a Look at Dementia
Dementia is a broad term that encompasses a variety of different diseases and
syndromes(The dementia timebomb, 2013). About 38 million in the united states
and 820,000 in the United Kingdom are diagnosed with one of the over 100 types
of dementia. It is also and aged related condition, so most people inflicted with it are
older rather than younger. A person can have multiple forms of dementia or a disease
such as alzheimer s diseases that involves dementia symptoms. Symptoms of
dementia include: memory loss, disorientation, loss of motor skills, not being able to
eat or drink, depression and even hallucinations. Most of these symptoms are caused
due to a problem within the central nervous system, more specifically the brain. As
the condition progresses so do the symptoms related to it. In the later stages of the
condition, many patients have been noted to have vivid hallucinations that they
believe to be real life events. They may not be able to recognize their own loved ones,
but sometimes are able to recall back on old memories. In some patients they forget
the time and place and even resort back to being a child again (Jenkins C McKay A,
2013).
In many forms of dementia, The Frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain has
been damaged. The cells in these lobes are dying off slowly and connection is
losted. This is due to the loss of neurons in both lobes of the brain. Scary tissues
develops in these parts of the brain also. Many of the surviving cells tend to have
The Colonization Of Virginia And William Shakespeare s
The...
In the 1600s, many countries separately set out in exploration for several reasons:
for religious expansion and freedom, for the establishment of new land in order to
accommodate for growing populations, and for an ultimate economic opportunity.
While this allowed for the expansion of civilization and ideas that ultimately led to
the creation of the United States, it came at the cost of the abuse and exploitation
of entire populations of natives that sometimes led to their complete erasure. The
natives of the land, presently known as America, claimed they were subject to
these horrors for no more of a reason than fun and the benefit of the incoming
colonists as a labor source. However, many colonists convey these experiences with
a sort of justification that these natives were, in reality, uncivilized savages who
failed to succumb to their wishes of adhering to their culture. These adverse
accounts of the growth of the colonies are still heavily debated today due to the lack
of truth and bias that exists within the written evidence provided by both sides.
While colonist views are challenged in William Shakespeare s The Tempestby
expressing the natives in a sympathetic light, it is clearly reflected in John Smith s
General History of Virginia and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs.
Mary Rowlandson through the representation of natives as sadistic and inhumane
creatures. Despite the differing accounts on both sides, it is fairly universal that the

Brief Paper From The Tower of Babel to Jacob and Esau Reconciled, we learn
about honor, betrayal, and forgiveness from the book of Genesis. From these
themes we learn what applies to our everyday life and how we are able to survive.
At the start of Genesis twelve, God honors a promise that he made to Abraham that
he will behold and protect as long as he lived. Go forth from your land and your
birthplace and your father s house to the land I will show you. And I will make
you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be
a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you, and those who damn you I will
curse, and all the clans of the earth through you shall be blessed. (Genesis 12: pg.
126). God s determination to honor Abraham was to bring his family and wife
back to the birthplace of his father s, where Abraham s name will be blessed and in
greatness to people who come and honor him. God placed Abraham to be a father of
all nations to kings that will come honor Abraham for his wisdom that he bestows
upon them, and to give his seed the land of Canaan and resurrected an altar before
him. God states to Abraham, As for you, you shall keep My commandment, you and
your seed after you through their generations. (Genesis 17: ... Show more content on

Music Is Music Essay
Everyone has that one thing that has always been a part of them and will continue
to be for the rest of their lives. As it probably is with many people, mine is music.
However, music affects everyone differently, and that effect makes me who I am
today. The simplest answer, for me, is that music makes me happy. Musicis always
there for me, whether in the form of playing or just listening to it, it is a huge part of
my life, and I could not imagine life without it. Throughout my life I have had many
people to thank for that, but the person who is initially responsible for my interest in
music is my mother. She listened to music frequently and got my brother into band at
Randolph Elementary School. After that everything changed.
My brother started band in fourth grade and also got involved with Sal Cruz s
Cruzline program. Since I was only in first grade, I could not be in band, but I was
always forced to go and watch my brother anyway. At first I did not want to be
there, and eventually I got bored enough to where I would sit in the back of the
room and mimic what Mitchell was doing on my lap. One day Sal noticed me doing
that:
He asked everyone, Whose little sister is that? Yours?
No she s mine. my brother answered.
He then replied, Well, come on up here, and we ll get you a box to stand on, and
then I want you to play what your brother has been playing I was beyond nervous
but I did it anyway, and Sal was so excited, he was hooting and hollering the rest of
practice. I guess he liked me because he let me start practicing with everyone and
even play in the performance. I did not have a problem with that part. The part I
did have a problem with was him singling me out to the entire audience. I was so
embarrassed that, while standing on the box, and with hair the length of about half
of my body, I dropped my head and let my hair fall around my face the entire time he
was telling the audience about me. Little did I know, this would be the first of many
performances.
This day was the beginning of an entirely different life. My brother and I now had
something in common and our relationship grew significantly better from then on.
My free time was spent practicing either drums or the piano, which I had also
The Importance Of Visual Design For Food Photography
Now that visual design s importance has been established, a major component of
this, especially in food products, is food photography. These images are not only
appealing, they must also drive consumers appetites. Important factors must be
considered in order to gain attention but also get consumers through the shopping
process sooner. An article online outlines the specific technique used in food
photography to get attention while being obvious about the products usage and
quality (Higgins, 2011). This is important along with design because it gives
potential consumers a look at a company s product and may be beneficial for
garnering new customers for newer brands. When smaller brands are competing,
this is their chance to show off their product and highlight why it may be better
than alternatives. Also, people want to see the product, if a product is covered and
no image is depicted, the consumer might be more skeptical of the product and its
quality. Example of Exceptional Design Packaging: How does typography, graphics,
and food photography come together to create a package? In an example by
Propercorn, a popcorn snack in the United Kingdom, the owner went through a
meticulous process with several creative people to create a sleek package that would
be attractive to young women or people wanting to snack without the calories (King,
2015). After photographing the popcorn at different angles and coming up with the
perfect graphics, they included a
Persuasive Essay On Save Bees
Save the Bees
The presence of a bee generally scares people. So they swat at it, which makes the
bee angry and defensive, which causes the bee to sting. Once the bee stings
someone, it dies. Most people might think their death is a good thing.
Unfortunately, various species of bees have been added to the endangered species
list (Kennedy). Bees pollinate about 70% of the crops used by 90% of the world
(What Would Happen) and as of February 2017, 10 million bees have died since
2010 ( Bennett). Bees need to be saved to ensure the Earth s survival, along with our
own.
There are many things believed to be the cause of bee endangerment. Of the survey
conducted, 18% believe the cause is from chemicals used on plants such as
pesticides; 25% believe it is because people do not like bees and kill them; 13%
believe it is from habitat destruction; 25 % believe it is from natural causes.
Overall, the general population is correct with regard to why bees have become
endangered. Lauren Bennett says the main cause of the rapid decline in bee
populations is from natural causes such as global warming and colony collapse
disorder, which is when bees abandon their hive and causes the hive to die as well.
Marla Spivak, says it is from parasites. Henry Samuel says it is from neonicotinoids,
which is a pesticide that is similar to nicotine.
The effects of their endangerment, and possible extinction, could potentially lead to
our populations decreasing at alarming rates. The Earth would lose

Tilting his chin upwards, Tom peered up seductively through his long, thick lashes.
So, does that mean you wanna fool around? he asked in a soft, lilting voice.
The soft words were enough to harden Booker s cock, and grabbing Tom by the

Slave Codes And Slavery Of African Americans In The
18th...
Between 1660 and 1710 slave codes were enacted and forced nearly all blacks to
work as agricultural laborers. The codes defined slavery as a system that controls
black people to take advantage of their labor. By the year 1700, the system spread to
the southern colonies in America and slaves and other blacks were legally equivalent
to domestic animals.
African Americans during the eighteenth century lived in small minimalist log cabins
with dirt floors, brick fireplaces, and wooden chimneys. In coastal South Carolina and
Georgia, African architecture were very common They had little furniture and a few
kitchen supplies, but as time went by, the families got more supplies and the homes
became more substantial (Hine, 65). When making clothes, blacks steered toward
style resembling West African culture. African Americanpeople Africanized the
South with many other things such as their religious concepts and practices, African
words and modes of expression, music, cooking methods and foods, literature and art.
They also were heavy on their notions of kinship and by preserving the West African
extended family, a structure for African American culture was created (Hine, 67) .
Masters of slaves, as well as other whites believed that African Americans were
dumb, illiterate, and property. However, this was not the case, black peoplestarted
showing resistance and rebelling against white men who made them appear
uneducated. Most masters abused and raped their women servants

Why The Allies Were Victorious At The End Of World War
II
Why the Allies were victorious at the end of World War 2 The crushing defeat and
ultimate failure of the Axis Powers was caused by significant events that had a
great impact on the war. The Allies were victorious in 1945 due to the sheer
military power of the United States, the infamous Soviet Transformation and the
Battle of Moscow , the crushing fall of Japan and the vast resource differences
between the Axis Powers and the Allies. These major events that took place during
World War 2 helped shape the victorious outcome for the Allies, by not only
weakening the German s military force, but also its confidence. The sheer military
power of the United States, and their appearance in the war, both had a major
impact on the outcome of the war, striking fear into the opposing military forces.
America was and has always been a very wealthy and large economy with an
abundant supply of resources. This gave America the ability to mass produce war
machines such as planes and tanks to give them a large advantage over the Axis
Powers. The US had an over supply of war vehicles, which were later shared with
Britain and France, providing a huge advantage over the Axis Powers. According to
Historynotes, over 10 million American soldiers were ready to be deployed to help
fight against the Axis Powers . This statement clearly proves just how much military
power America had over their opponents put together. German and Italian spies were
reporting back to their country about the dramatic
Characteristics Of Princess Diana
Abstract
Princess Diana was known as the people s princess; but Diana was much more than
that. Diana was an activist, humanitarian, public servant and a leader. Princess Diana
s entire adult life was focused on helping those less fortunate, those suffering from
debilitating diseases and offering aide to people from third world countries. Diana
didn t just contribute time but focused on attracting the attention of the media
which brought spectators and in return brought followers. These followers were
willing to contribute time and resources to hundreds of causes Princess Diana
found important. Diana had great charisma that she spread to all the people she
met. In the developing countries she was able to empower others by improving
their self esteem (Gram 2013). Princess Diana led a life of giving and through
many years of personal grief and loss followed by a tragic death the world has
suffered a great loss as well. Fortunately, Diana was such an impactful leader that to
this day there are memorial funds set up in Princess Diana s name to assist with
many of the charities that the Princess adored. Because of the hours and back
breaking work the Princess put in to these charities, they still reap benefits from the
followers of the people s leader, Princess Diana.
Princess Diana; a Leader A leader can possess many unique qualities. Merriam
Webster defines a leader as someone who guides others. A quick google search
provides a definition of a person who commands a group. Princess Diana was
known to compassionately guide people to service. Without instructing, verbalizing
or motioning Diana was able to influence the way the world felt about many
different causes. Princess Diana was able to change the world s views and
perceptions about contagious diseases, third world countries and many different
world crises. Diana was passionate about all of the charities and work performed and
was never fearful to be the first to volunteer. Diana did not discriminate in any charity,
she worked for the homeless, youth, drug addicts, and the elderly

Private Military Contractors
If someone were to ask about the United Sates military, a majority of people would
be able to describe it thoroughly; however, what most people do not know is that it is
comprised of mercenaries. Mercenaries, also known as private military contractors,
are not an official part of the United States military; Instead, they are highly skilled
soldiers who work independently charging large amounts of money to terminate
enemies. The United Stateshas been hiring Blackwater, which is a skilled mercenary
group, to enter countries and eliminate enemies. The United Sates of America needs
to stop hiring private contractors because countless problems arise due to many
contributing factors.

Mercenaries need to be stopped being used because they allow governments to do
whatever they please without getting caught. Gilsinan argues, both [drones and
private military companies] should be part of the same category, because they allow
national governments to get involved in fighting without actually having citizens do
it. And that creates moral hazard for policymakers, because it lowers the barriers of
entry into conflict (Gilsinan). When Private military contractors are used they break
any established laws to complete their mission. Governments use these contractors
because they realize that they can get away with breaking international laws by
having the mercenaries break them. This is atrocious because if the United States
decides to keep using contractors and these private contractors continue to break laws
then conflict will appear. When other governments begin to see hired contractors
doing what they please they will begin consulting with mercenaries as well. Borger
analyzes, When the United States started to rely on private military companies, it
unleashed this new globalized industry of mercenaries. That s why we ve seen a
resurgence of them (Linehan). Mercenaries make war extremely easy because they
can do what they want. When other countries begin to see that the United States
relies on mercenaries, they will commence to hire them as
Computer Mediated Communication In Social Media
The world is more connected than ever before. The various channels of
communication available to us allow for a multitude of opportunities for civic
engagement, public speech and an ability to organize collective action. Within the
realm of politics, social media has the possibility of connecting ordinary citizens with
politicians and encourage a more participatory kind of politics (Shirkey, 2011).
However, internet trolling has made politicians wary about engaging with citizens on
social media platforms. An internet trollis an individual who uses anonymity to stir up
drama, often within a comment thread on a blog or news website with a goal of
enticing arguments and disputes among other users (Cramer, 2013). By creating a
disruptive and an abusive environment on social media, internet trolls are disrupting
political discourse, interrupting civic engagement and as a result hurting the
democratic process.
Communication between users on social media is an example of mediated
communication. Mediated communication is a method in which there is something
between the sender and the receiver , most frequently that something being
technology, such as a computer (Dainton Zelley, 2015). Computer mediated
communication, or CMC, as it is also called, carries many benefits such as quick and
efficient communication (Hardaker, 2015). This type of communication is
asynchronous, meaning users don t interact with each other in real time and may
respond to posts and comments on
The Double Minority in Song of Solomon Essay
Typically minority groups are thought of in the context of race; however, a minority
group can also consist of gender and class. The struggles facing a minority group
complicate further when these different facets of minority categories are combined
into what is sometimes called a double minority. Throughout their writing, African
American womenhave exposed how being a double minority changes the conditions
of being a minority. In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, the African American
female characters demonstrate the impact of having a double minority status.

The Education System Of The American School System
Against School
In a progressively more globalized world that necessitates more effective educational
practices, the U.S., once the biggest global force in education, has seen its dominance
slowly slip out, and its educational status fall even lower than that of several third
world countries. The decline experienced in American school system academic
achievement is not as a result of lack of funding, but as a consequence of the overall
educational system watering down. According to Gatto, educating children through
the existing public school system of America is crippling rather than helping them.
From his essay, Against School, it is established that the goal of the whole public
school system is to limit people s intelligence in an attempt to create a society that is
manageable. Gatto continues to state that action is needed to change this situation.
He supports his assertions using current and historical information about the
American school system and his personal experience. After reading his article, one
realizes that most of Gatto s arguments are true. It is true that the American education
system is making the students comfort to the government and society norms, which
is why they are easily bored. This essay s goal will, therefore, be to support John
Gatto s beliefs.
To begin with, Gatto utilizes historical information to question the need for getting an
education using the American public school system. Past occurrences show that
people do not need an education

declared that she has a right but TO BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER,
and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as
slavery upon Earth. If we don t win this war, our lives are going to be full with
expensive government that rule without pity. Tyranny, is like Hell, is not easily
conquered , yet we have this consolation with us, also said by Paine 153. You re
worried about your aging mom and you miss you friends and family. If you quit
and go back home, you get to live with taxes, tyranny, and fear. You and everyone
you care about will be under this life. Far off, possibly unlikely, there is victory. The
reason victory seems far, is because there are few soldiers that are fighting. I want to
fight to make victory closer. This reason is pushing me to re enlist because of what
life would be back home. The choice to fight or not can will change on how you and
the people you care about live. I fell asleep so sure of my

Hispanic and Latino Spirituality Throughout our life s each day we communicate
with each other through the exchange of information. Our verbal and nonverbal
communication skills are used to process this information. Speaking, listening, and
body language are our ability to understand the meaning of communication that we
develop throughout our lives. This brings me to understand why we develop new
things every day and learn the reasons for different things. However, in the Hispanic
/Latino literature they express spirituality, magic, and myth play as an important role
in their literature. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as Americans we are able to turn to what we have learned growing up.
Once we are born our family, siblings, and our own culture influence us. We are
bought up with certain beliefs and traditions. However, I do think that culture does
influences how people are permitted to be expressed and how they are perceived.
As for social experience people react to different experience in different ways. If
someone has been in a certain situation I believe they learn from that experience.
This brings me to the certain unfairness, stereotypes, and myths about Hispanic
/Latino culture. While growing up we experience some of these types of situations.
When we think about a Hispanic/Latino person we think about tamales, tacos, rice
and beans which is a stereotype. However, Susie Jans Thomas wrote Beyond
Tamales, Tacos, and Our Southern Neighbors: Exploring Latino Culture in Child and
Young Adult Literature to show that there is more to them then just those
expressions. I believe we have all experienced or witnessed racism, power abuse,
and felt lost in one point of our lives. This just shows that we need to try to work
harder and together more.
Therefore, I do believe I am a better person today because I came from such a
loving family. This is something that families are missing throughout the world and
that is love, religion, and quality time with loved ones. To me this is why the world
is becoming the way it is because there are so many people who do not care or
Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Beowulf s Death
9/11, Sandy Hook, Orlando, Boston Marathon, Hurricane Katrina, and Iraq
/Afghanistan war; all these events revolve around death and destruction. When Time
magazine asked Americans to rank the most significant event in their lifetime those
were the events they choose. Death... the biggest impact and influence in people s life
and minds. We see deathtake place in Lordof the Flies and Beowulf. Both stories have
appalling and perplexing events that take place throughout the novel. Many of the
events that take place result in death. While these stories revolve around death, Piggy
and Simon s death, in Lord of the Flies, were much more influential to the other
characters, plot, and the overall theme than Beowulf s death.
Death can be influential to any story by the way it impacts a character. One
character in Beowulf who was affected by death was Wiglaf. Our glorious king! By
almighty God, I d rather burn myself than see Flames swirling around my lord
(Unknown 725 727) Wiglaf broke down emotionally at the sight of Beowulf s
death. This shows Wiglaf s loyalty to Beowulf, and how he truly cared about
Beowulf s well being. Just like Beowulf had Wiglaf, Simon and Piggy had Ralph
on their side. Ralph was emotionally distressed after Simon s death specifically
because of how it happened. Ralph was never able to fully let it go; that s one
reason why he breaks down in front of the soldier at the end of the novel.
After Piggy and the conch were destroyed, Ralph, with no hope left, was worried
he would be next and actually had to run away from the rest of the boys on the
island. The boys left on the island could care less about the fact that those two boys
were killed and that blood was on their hands. Those boys were even excited about
the possibility of killing Ralph. This happens to be a way more influential and
important fact to know about the characters in Lord of the Flies because they
started to enjoy death. The boys would chant and sing songs about slitting the pig s
throat as if it were a game. In contrast, Wiglaf was very distraught over the death of
his king. After Beowulf s death the soldiers set up a tower to overlook a creek and
they buried jewels in his honor. Typically, Beowulf was only treated one way

A Worn Path
Lesson 4
A Worn Path Eudora Welty
Question 1a A Worn Path by Eudora Welty recounts the long journey of an elderly
woman, Phoenix Jackson. As Phoenix plods along, the reader has no idea of the
reason for her trip. However, it can be gathered by Phoenix s attitude and remarks
that this trip is a very important one. She seems very determined to reach her goal.
She tells the animals to keep out of [her] way (438). She continues to walk uphill,
through thorny bushes, across log bridges, and under barbed wire fences. She is
bound to go to town (440). The people Phoenix encounters do not seem to understand
the importance of Pheonix s journey. The hunger declares that it is too far (440). He
says that when he comes out, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If her grandson was dead, she probably would not consider buying him a gift and
thinking about his reaction. For Phoenix to remember him so vividly and to think
of surprising him with a gift implies that he still may be alive. In the end, it does not
matter whether Phoenix s grandslon is alive or not. What matters is Phoenix s
willingness to travel the long journey for him. Her journey demonstrates undying
love; she will travel this path for him regardless whether he is alive of long gone.
Question 1d The character is Phoenix Jackson is revealed primarily through indirect
presentation. Eudora Welty paints of vivid picture of Phoenix, describing her
appearance and recounting her words and actions. Phoenix Jackson is an elderly
African American woman. She is very old (437). Her skin is filled with
numberless branching wrinkles and her black her is composed of the frailest of
ringlets (437). She is not well to do; her apron is made from bleached sugar sacks
and her is tied by a red rag (437). Nevertheless, she is neat and tidy (437), though
she cannot tie her shoelaces. Phoenix is a good natured person. She often makes
light of her old age, laughingly declaring that she she ought to be shut up for good
since she is too old (438). She joyfully dances with the scarecrow after realizing that
it was not a ghost. Phoenix is also very perceptive. She notices the nickel which falls

The Two Breed Crossbreeding System
b) Three breed cross: In this system of crossbreeding three breeds are used. The
bulls of three breeds are used in rotation in successive generations of crossbred
females of the previous generation (37,55). This is thus called the rotational crossing.
This system is practiced to maintain heterozygosity and to utilize heterosis for
maternal ability of the crossbred dams (55). Three breedcross requires the input of
three separate breeds (55). Along similar principles as with backcross, all first cross
male progeny are sold. First cross females are joined with bulls of a third unrelated
breed, instead of with one of the parent breeds as in the backcross. All progeny of
F1 dams are sold for slaughter (55). This system takes advantage of both... Show

This system is an excellent choice as it produces maximum heterosis in both the
calf and cow (51). As such, calves obtain the additional growth benefits of hybrid
vigor while heterosis in the cows improves their maternal ability. The terminal cross
system is one of the simplest systems to implement and achieves the highest use of
heterosis and breed complementarities (17,44). All calves marketed will have the
same breed composition. A 24% increase in pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed
is expected from this system when compared to the average of the parent breeds.
3) BREEDING FOR COMPOSITE
Development of a composite or synthetic breed results from the crossing of two or
more existing breeds (43). There are many examples of this in Queensland: Santa
Gertrudis, Drought master, Braford, Charbray, Brangus and Belmont Red. The
primary advantage of forming composite breeds is that after the initial crosses are
made, management requirements are the same as for straight breeding. McDowell
The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe By C. S. Lewis
Good and Evil in Narnia
The book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis has a plot full of
good and evil. The White Witch claims to be the queen of Narnia and Leads an
army of evil creatures working with her. The children: Lucy, Susan, Peter and
Edmund represent the good side of Narnia including all the other creatures and of
course the king of all the land, the great lion Aslan. The characters in the story battle
with trust and relationships between themselves. This story relates to good and evil
through conflict between the White Witch, Aslan and the children. The kids in the
book get sent to a professor s house in the country so he can care for them because
they are in the middle of a bomb dropping war. When the kids get to the house they
discover a wardrobe that Leads to another world called Narnia. Lucy and Edmund are
the first of the four to discover the world. This moment in the story is where the
first conflict between good and evil start. Lucy tell her brother and sister about
Narnia and they do not believe her. She calls on edmund to back her up and he lies
and tells them it was made up. Edmunds evil act makes lucy cry and it is obvious
that Edmund has some problems with being good. Edmund has a sense of evil to ...

The kids find a way to strategize their battle plan and take out a significant amount
of the white Witch s army. The good force in this book is motivated by the evilness
of the evil force to try and stop it. Where there is evil, there will always be a good
counter force. Once the queen gets closer to them they start falling back and
losing. Aslan comes out of nowhere with another army of all kinds of good
creatures and jumps on the queen and takes her life. The kids and the good army
take out the last of the evil army and leave victorious, as the kids are the new kings

Denial-Of-Service Attacks
Denial of Service Attacks (Samuel Folledo) How many of us know exactly what
Denial of Service attacks is? Aside from how powerful and easy it is to perform
these attacks, its mysteriousness alone illustrates a huge danger in the computer
world. A deep understanding of DoS can save a lot of headaches as these
cybercriminals are able to steal from personal informations to bringing down sites
and companies. The first wall of prevention against these attacks is always
awareness. This is why being knowledgeable on Denial of Service attacks important.

Once your computer is among the living dead, it becomes a part of a botnet, or a
network of other zombie computers (par. 2). Botnets are designed in order to gather
personal information including passwords, credit card details, social security
numbers, addresses, and telephone numbers. These data may then be used for crimes
including identity theft, frauds, spamming, and other malware distribution.
Drozhzhin also stated, Once a computer is a bot, it begins accepting commands from
a centralized command server (par. 4). As soon as the device become part of a
botnet, they can receive commands to launch attacks on other devices, websites, and
networks. This is important to know because in order to launch an effective
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, a large number of bots are required. The
attack is more effective because the more zombies recruited, the easier and faster it is
for the attacker to constantly transmit requests and malwares to other computers, thus
crashing the site. Additionally, multiple bots sending requests from different
locations makes the attack tremendously more difficult for antivirus and antispyware
to distinguish a malicious request from an actual consumer s request. The worst part
is, it is almost nearly impossible to

Vices Of Decadent Art
Virtues and Vices of Decadent Art: Which is more prominent?
Introduction
The Decadent Art era is marked with the art and literature works which according
to the decadent artists are considered beyond any moral or ethical obligations to the
society and explore the realism of the society. According to the decadent artists
such as Oscar Wilde, Joris Karl Huysman s, and others, the decadent art was
necessary to dazzle the masses and awaken them and show them the reality of their
life and their inner soul s desires, vices, and virtues instead of leaving them to live in
a shroud of fake morality. Sensitivity and subtlety was never seen as a part of the
decadent art and instead brutal realism and literary adornments such as nudity,
hothouses, and many others were used to describe the emotions and romance of story
and the feelings of the characters.
Although, the decadent art was focused on reveling the absolute truth of the society
without having the patience to be subtle and appreciating the soft feelings of the
masses, or respecting morality or ethics; the works of the ... Show more content on

Crime, the taste for which the human animal draws from the womb of his mother, is
natural in its origins. Virtue, on the contrary, is artificial and supernatural, since gods
and prophets were necessary in every epoch and every nation to teach virtue....the
good is always the product of some art.
This claim in itself is false and thus, the virtue of the decadent art that it shows only
the magnified true picture of every perspective of life becomes false. This virtue
becomes non existent as it only shows partial or imagined truth and not the complete
and holistic picture. Thus, any literary work which claims to show a holistic picture
but instead shows only the fetid and darker side of the artists themselves and not the
general society lacks any virtue. This becomes the greatest vice of the decadent

Reaction Essays

  • 1. Reaction Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Reaction Essays" can present both challenges and opportunities for exploration. On one hand, crafting a reaction essay demands a keen ability to critically engage with a given subject matter, synthesizing personal insights with scholarly or contextual understanding. This can require a significant amount of time and effort to gather relevant information, analyze it thoroughly, and articulate one's reactions in a coherent and persuasive manner. Moreover, the nature of reaction essays often necessitates a delicate balance between subjective responses and objective analysis. Writers must navigate between expressing their own thoughts, feelings, and opinions while also grounding their arguments in evidence, research, or theoretical frameworks. Striking this balance can be tricky, as too much subjectivity may undermine the essay's credibility, while an overemphasis on objectivity might dilute the personal voice and insights that make reaction essays compelling. Furthermore, the process of writing a reaction essay often involves wrestling with complex ideas, perspectives, or texts. This intellectual engagement requires not only a strong grasp of the subject matter but also the ability to critically evaluate and respond to it in a meaningful way. It demands a depth of understanding and insight that can be challenging to achieve, particularly when grappling with nuanced or contentious issues. However, despite these challenges, writing a reaction essay can also be a rewarding endeavor. It provides an opportunity for individuals to explore their own thoughts and reactions in relation to a particular topic, deepening their understanding and fostering intellectual growth. Additionally, crafting a well-written reaction essay allows writers to contribute their unique perspective to ongoing conversations or debates within a given field, enriching the discourse with fresh insights and analyses. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Reaction Essays" requires careful navigation of subjective and objective elements, critical engagement with complex ideas, and the ability to articulate personal reactions in a clear and compelling manner. While it may pose certain difficulties, the process can also be intellectually stimulating and ultimately rewarding for those willing to invest the time and effort. • 2. Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Adam Khan Mrs.Vedula Engl. 1102 11 November 2015 Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Many people believe Tobias Wolff is considered much of a critic mainly because his childhood was affected by his parent s separation. Little by little, he started to become like a critic until he went to the army. Furthermore, when he came back he became more pessimistic than critical some might say. His short stories are acknowledged by many readers because of the true meaning of aspirations some people could think they can make out of it. Some say Wolff created a new thinking perspective by creating the short storyBullet in the Brain . The reason readers say that is because the story ends up being more profound that they would have thought when they read it from the beginning. It all starts off with a negative person who can t keep his mouth shut. Then, that very same person is shot in the head having his last memories be something unusual that an average person would not have recalled as their last memory. Although Tobias Wolfflived an unusual lifestyle, he turns out to write one of the best short stories Bullet in the Brain , by using irony, imagery, theme, style, and tone all within a few pages; which shows why his childhood affected this writing piece he has created. In 2001 when the audience read Wolff s short story Bullet in the Brain , they realized that there were a various amount of meaningful elements. However, there are more critical than positive elements.
  • 3. Federalist And Dual Federalism The United States under the Articles of Confederation had a Federalist nation in its truest and basest sense. Originally, the Articles united the separate states together under an extremely weak central Congress with few powers. That left most of the powers of government with the states, which caused many problems in terms of regulation and protection of rights and liberties. Most states had different currencies, taxes, protections of rights (in the individual state constitutions), and other policies that made it difficult for the states to coexist, however, with the power in the individual states, most policy more closely reflected the peoples of the region. When it became clear that the Articles of Confederation were no longer working... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also argued that the federal courts would be too far away from the average citizen to provide justice, something they extended to the other federal branches of government as well. When debating the content of the Constitution, Anti Federalists called for a clearer articulation of the rights of the people and government, which brought about more compromises and content in the ratified Constitution. Delaware was the first state who voted, unanimously, to ratify the Constitution on December 7, 1787 and Rhode Island was the last state to ratify it almost three years later on May 29, 1790 (archives.gov, 2016). The document was able to go into effect earlier because ratification only required nine votes for it from the states, which only took 10 months through New Hampshire (archives.gov, 2016). Many states who approved ratification later did so under the requirement that the Framers added a declaration of rights to the Constitution. Throughout the ratification process, before the first state even ratified the Constitution and through 1790, several people wrote The Federalist Papers under the pseudonym Publius. They were a collection of papers supporting the ratification of the new Constitution and the formation of a more democratic republic. Federalist Paper #10 was written by James Madison in 1787 and contains one of the best arguments for the formation of the new
  • 4. Banning Zoos I think that zoos should be banned because I believe that all animal should have freedom and not be captured and put in a cage and viewed by people. Imagine you re at the zoo and you see a lion pacing back and forth what do you think? Is he ok? One reason I think animals should be released into the wild is the people that work at the zoo don t build them a normal habit by normal I mean may not be the right temperature or not good room. My evidence is polar bears live in the cold big atlantic at the zoo it s warm and small. I Also think they should make the habit bigger for the animals. Another fact is the zoo s enclosure is 1000 times smaller than the freedom they get in the wild. That s why i think animals should be free.
  • 5. The Great Gatsby- Color Symbolism The Power of Color Colors are used many different ways by many different people, but are used mainly as a reflection of the way one feels or his or her own personality. This idea is depicted through the different characters created in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, set in the post World War I era. The novel evinces the major themes through the use and explanation of many diverse colors. Jay Gatsby, the most significant character in the story, leads a very materialistic lifestyle. Hoping to gain back his old love, Daisy, Gatsby uses his money to impress her, hopefully leading to their settling down together. Daisy s second cousin once removed, Nick Carraway, is the link that helps to connect Gatsby and Daisy. Nick deliberately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caught in the romantic atmosphere of the night, Nick puts [his] arm around Jordan s golden shoulder (Fitzgerald 79). Both description serve to symbolize the fact that she is happy and quite valuable, as of now, to Nick. While gold and silver are two valuable colors to the characters, gray symbolizes the corruption behind the money. One depressing color that is quite significant to the story happens to be the very dull gray. Gray represents the neutral, dull and corrupt society that resides in America. It is seen, through some of the structures, that corruption has made a big impact on everyone surrounding them. One such structure, that is only mentioned briefly, is the villages in France. When Nick first meets and talks to Gatsby, they bring up how both men look familiar to one another. Ironically, they both took part in some section of World War I, Gatsby, in the ninth machine gun battalion, and Nick, in the Seventh Infantry (Fitzgerald 47). During the quick recapitulation of the war, [they] talked for a moment about some wet, gray little villages in France (Fitzgerald 47). These villages represent the corruption and destruction that the war has brought to the people and society of France. Another gray structure is the windows at Gatsby house. Even though Gatsby is a man of money and success, the gray windows on his home signify that this happiness is just a facade, and that in reality, there is much fraudulence hidden within Gatsby
  • 6. Setting Boundaries Dimarco Analysis Setting boundaries is when someone marks their limits, determining how much their friends, neighbors, family, and strangers can have access to in their life. I strongly believe that creating boundaries is a crucial to do to be respected, protected, and stay healthy. Since I can remember, my family has always instilled in me that having my own boundaries are essential because they are part of self care. Thus, forming boundaries are fundamental for one s life because without them, anyone can interfere and manipulate your life. Setting Boundaries is the title of an essay by DiMarco, in which she discusses the differences of several kinds of boundaries. She states that boundaries are either physically or physiologically. Physical boundaries being
  • 7. Dehumanization Of Bullying In Schools What is the definition of bullying? It is getting pleasure from someone else s pain and not feeling any type of remorse or regret for your actions. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children and adults that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids and adults who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems. In the same aspect bullyingis unquestioned obedience to authority, rootinazation of cruelty and dehumanization of another human being (Services, 2015) (Somante, 2014). The most important step in research that I felt I needed to use for this paper is working with existing information. I felt it was necessary for this decision simply because the information was presented by a lady by the name of Barbara Coloroso. She has actually researched the topic of bullying in school yards and bullying in the general sense. Being a parent herself, she actually discussed some key points that can very easily become agents of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children reflect on what the parents present. Children who bully believe that their parents would not forgive them if they did something wrong. Arguably, they learn from their parents to be unforgiving towards others, and feel justified in acting aggressively (Rigby, 2013). For example, at a young age I had my first experience with racism which lead to me personally being a bully. I learned term like chink , cracker , honkey , spic and etc. I took these labels to school with me. Certain people they were different than I suffered the consequences of being different. I tormented them, called them names pushed them around, and took their lunch monies. Another example, I had and older brother that tortured me every chance he got. He beat me up, locked me in closets, took my money and pushed me around. So naturally I learned things from home and took them to

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Summary One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel written by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn first published in November 1962, the author writes about the life of Ivan, he explains one day of the life of a prisoner in a Gulag. In a way Ivan represents Aleksandr, as this author went through this too. The author experienced the Gulag system from 1945 to 1953; at this time Joseph Stalin was in repression and was in charge of this work camps . Aleksandr enters in the mind of Ivan and declares his feelings through oppression and stress in this cruel and monotony work camp. Shukhov explains how his daily life is in this camp without giving importance to his future. When he talks about the food, he explains to us how important it is to get his food that day, but it seems to be that he does not really care about the rest of the days, he thinks only of the present. This means that it is a completely same routine since he started until he completes the 10 years. The writer uses a simple vocabulary to express the feelings and experiences of Shukhov which are really close to himself, as he lived the same as the character he creates. The writer creates a character which is hard worker, applied for work and constant; he emphasizes like this how he was in him when he lived the same as the character. Aleksandr explains to us how society treated the people, it made people fear and suffer. It was a misery and hopeless to be in those camps but it was also ridiculous to be a normal Soviet citizen as you were constantly living under the Soviet regime after the
  • 9. Editing and the Crisis of Open Source Essay Editing and the Crisis of Open Source The Free Software movement that began in 1985 and the newer open source movement, represented a serious threat to traditional methods of production and distribution. The idea of a non proprietary method of cultural exchange was and is a radical departure from traditional models that have come to restrict creativity and free exchange. In the ensuing years, there was a gradual drift away from ideas of non proprietary toward ideas of access to software s code level. This mirrored an evident diffusion of these open ideas into the cultural sphere. Open publishing, open editing, open music, and open culture are now hip buzzwords that point toward a new cultural formation based on a more free exchange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wikipedia.org, an open source encyclopedia, describes this conflict of terms. It was hoped that the usage of the newer term open source would eliminate such ambiguity, and would also be easier to market to business users (who might mistakenly associate free software with anti commericalism). Since its introduction, however, the open source label has been criticized for fostering an ambiguity of a different kind: that of confusing it for mere availability of the source, rather than the freedom to use, modify, and redistribute it. One of the early defects of free software was the perceived inability to use it in for profit ventures. Whereas the Free Software movement thinks of the freedom of software s code to be available to all as an ethical and social imperative, open source treats it as a practical issue. Both GPL and open source licenses can be used in for profit ventures. Copylefted material must remain free for people to modify, but can be priced for people to buy. With the advent of the term open source, it now appears that everything is open source, or is at least sold that way. When not applied to programming, open content is used to describe a wide range of activities that have nothing to do with computer software. There is still the problem of
  • 10. Joe Obermueller Job Shadow Essay For my job shadow I went to the University of Sioux Falls! There I was introduced to Joe Obermueller who is the Assistant Professor and Director of theatre. I arrived at the University of Sioux Falls November 15th. I think it was extremely interesting that Obermueller was a professor and a director. Having both of those responsibilities would be exceptionally stressful, Obermueller has two things that he has to focus on in his career. He has to make sure that the academic side is tip top and people are learning what they need to. But, he also has to focus on the upcoming production that requires an abundance of work which causes him to stay at the school until the late hours of the night. When I made it to the school, I marched into the Jeschke... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There wasn t anything I disliked about the shadow. I loved being in classes that is all about, theatre, something I want to do in my future. Many people wish we had some of those classes at West Central. We learned that being a professorisn t an easy thing to achieve, but is one of the most fun and rewarding careers. An article I read on Shmoop about theater directors state Theatre, as a form of creativity and expression, is a fantastic way to reach across cultures and get down to our shared humanity as well as our shared dislike for any play over three hours ( Day in the life of a Theatre Director ). I also learned from Obermueller that interning at places which is similar to the career I want to pursue can really help me later in life. Also, I should begin looking into jobs that pertain to my future now rather than later. Obermueller also made it very obvious that making relationships with people who can get me to the places I want to go will really improve my chances in succeeding in this career. So in conclusion, going to USF was an amazing experience and really eased my nerves about college. It showed me college will be fun and having a career in theatre is a challenging yet beneficial job. I really look forward to my future now that I know more about what to
  • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Scientology Since, its creation in the 1950s, Scientology has faced harsh criticism in the United States (Church of Scientology International, 1992). However, as Scientology globalizes it faces even harsher societal and government led resistance to its teachings, especially in Germany. The results of a poll concluded that 74% of German citizens think Scientologyshould be banned from their country (as cited by Chambers, 2007). In the United States, for example, expressions of distaste for certain group are legally limited to microaggressions, while in Germany, citizens are within their legal right to express their distaste in much more harmful ways. Many compare Germany s actions against Scientology to their socialist regime during World War II. Although Germany s methods verge on the edge of persecution and discrimination, ultimately, Germany s opposition to Scientology is legal, and valid, therefore they are justified in their continued opposition. The Church of Scientology was founded in the 1950s by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. The self described religion emerged from his then newly published book entitled Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Dianetics is a methodology which can help alleviate such elements as unwanted sensations and emotions, irrational fears and psychosomatic illnesses (illnesses caused or aggravated by mental stress) (Church of Scientology International, 1992). The German government is completely justified in finding the actions
  • 12. Equality In Society By Mary Wollstonecraft In Of the Pernicious Effects Which Arise from the Unnatural Distinctions Established in Society by Mary Wollstonecraft she discusses the inequality of women in our society. In the words of Wollstonecraft, There must be equality established in society, or morality will never gain ground, and this virtuous equality will not rest firmly even when founded on a rock, if one half of mankind be chained to its bottom by fate, for they will be continually undermining it through ignorance or pride. According to Wollstonecraft, the only way for our society to become morally sound, we must allow womanto be equal to man. She branches on the wealthy and the unhealthy being that the wealthy disregards those not as fortunate and in this same way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wollstonecraft feels if society were to grant women an opportunity to be independent then they would be, successfully. Honestly, allowing women to be anything other than just a woman would make her an overall better individual. Again, a woman is herself before she is a wife or a mother, so she must continue to develop in all fields. Women have a lot of potential to do things such as study politics, art, become midwives, get jobs, and become self aware of their virtues. Women are just as likely as anyone to cure diseases, help release people of legal dilemmas, and the like. When we stifle the growth of one, we hinder the advances of many. As women get married and adapt to a stable life, they have no way of acknowledging their virtues. In order for women to be seen as more than wives and mothers they must show how their virtues and independent selves can benefit the public. Likewise, one title does not cancel out another for women. For instance, in order for a woman to be a better citizen, a better mother, a better wife, she must be allowed rational discourse. If a woman were to explore herself she would become better in all aspects of self. Wollstonecraft makes independence out to be an investment and if all men really do speak is money then it would be wise for them to listen up. Women have to be acknowledged as individuals whether that be as a married woman or a single woman
  • 13. Richard Giotto Accomplishments Giotto is considered the first painter of the Renaissance and his painting, Lamentation, is a visual depiction of Europe s transition out of the Middle Ages and into the new era. Born in 1270 in Vespignano Italy, very little of Giotto s early life is known. He only became widely recognized when he started as an apprentice of Cimabue, one of the greatest painters of his time. Cimabue painted in Byzantine style which was an art form standardized during the Middle Ages. Byzantine art was concerned primarily with religious expression and was characterized by heavy lines and an overall flat quality. Artists drew from a standard facial type and also emphasized color over form. Under Cimabue Giotto learned to paint and was influenced by much of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compositionally, this piece is drastically different from Byzantine work. Although the congregation of mourners fills up the bottom half of the painting, Christ s head is dynamically off center. Instead of putting him in the middle and using placement to make Christ the center of attention, Giotto used other compositional techniques to draw attention to him. For example, a major leading line is created by the diagonal rock in the background which draws the viewer s eye right to Christ s head. In addition, through painting the other figures with their eyes dramatically turned towards him, it further guides the viewer where to look, creating a dynamic focal point. Giotto also experiments with the viewer s relation to the painting through both the physical and the emotional. The background rock sections off the foreground plane bringing the figures forward in the painting creating a shallow stage. However, Giotto also painted figures from the back. This was a revolutionary idea that not only emphasized the foreground, but aided in making the intermediate figures appear further back in

The book revolves around the American Revolution, hence the title 1776, and it accurately shows the course of actions that have taken place in that year. 1776 is displays how America became an independent nation and what the individuals during that time had to go through to gain access to freedom and liberty. The Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence, the nation s most cherished symbol of independence, that same year on July 4. This caused The House of Lords and the House of Commons to go into a solemn debate and to vote in favor of the King s Proclamation well into midnight, ending at 4 AM. Thus, the first battle began between American and British troops. War between the Americans and the British Empire appeared on April 19, 1775, at the battle of Lexington and Concord, near Boston. Subsequently, the next battle took place and is commonly known as the Battle of Bunker Hill, which occurred at Breed s Hill and Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. Although the Battle of Bunker Hill was a victory for the British, they had one thousand casualties that resulted from the skirmish. A few days before the Battle of Bunker Hill, George Washingtonaccepted to be the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. During these months, British troops were under siege at Boston and their food and supplies were running dangerously low. Sadly, Britain got news from their troops in America a month or two after things had happened to them. This was due to the fact that Britain and the American colonies were separated by the ocean, resulting of a 3,000 mile distance. McCullough further uses The Siege to mention significant military figures that took part during The American Revolution. These major characters include: George Washington, Nathanael Greene,
  • 15. Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls Niagara Falls There are many natural places all over the world. One of the places I have been to, and really enjoyed, is Niagara Falls. This place is absolutely amazing. It has amazing sights and scenes, as well as other fun tourist attractions. Going on the tour at Niagara Falls taught me a lot about the site. I love this place because everytime I go there I am sent to this place that I could find, it just takes me away I went to Niagara Falls when I was about 12. I stepped out of the car and just hearing the incredible sound of the Falls, I was taken. It was so loud, just a huge roar of all the water going over the edge. It surprised me because I didn t think it would be that loud. It only got louder and louder as I got to the rail by the edge of the fall. Seeing the view of the falls took my breath away. Between the blue of the flowing river water, the white of the rough water falling over the side, and the mist of the water splattering off the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall, I was taken by its glory. Add on the view of the city too and it was just an amazing experience for me. When I went on the tour I was told a lot of facts that I found very interesting. For example, on the American side it is 1060 feet long and 176 feet tall. It would be about 70 feet, but on account of the rocks at the base it is 176 feet. Also, the American side has a volume of about 150,000 US Gallons. Being as young as I was, I was super impressed with these numbers. They told me that they are two hydroelectric plants in the area that change the volume of water that flows over. The volume depends on the time of year and the time of day. The heaviest flow is travel season, June, July, August, during the daytime. I found it incredible that these plants could change the flow of water of something as grand as Niagara Falls. There are so many other things to do in the Niagara Falls area other than just going to the railing to see the Falls. You can go on tours, whether it s the daytime tours or the nighttime tours. During the night tours the Falls are lit with lights that were placed behind the waterfalls. The lights are all different colors and it is beautiful. During the daytime tours it is just looking at the falls but it is

Many times, children are not growing up in a household as an only child. With this practice, they are set ahead of other children their age because of the lack of such high responsibility being placed on the backs of these dual parent

Rap has changed the faces of women in the community from a more positive image to a more negative one. It is focused more on women s bodies and not their intellect. • 19. An Alien On Earth And Hunted Humans Question One: If an alien race landed on Earth and hunted humans, we would need many different protection methods. The five methods I think would benefit humans the most in an alien invasion would be: venom, speed, webbed feet, strong claws, and strong jaws. Venom would be very important for my protection because I would rather kill the aliens, instead of avoiding them. In order to inject venom into the aliens, humans would need to have sharper teeth. I would sneak up on an alien and bite them. This could immobilize the alien once the venom affects them. Two animals that utilize venom are spiders and snakes. Speed would be another important protection method because if a group of aliens were chasing you, they would not be able to keep up with your incredible speed. If you were traveling in a large group, you could all go separate directions and confuse the aliens. They would not be able to keep track of everyone or even be able to catch up to any human. This would also include the speed of climbing things, such as trees and mountains. Two animals that utilize this method of protection are the cobra and the rattlesnake. Webbed feet would also be an important protection method for humans if they were being hunted by aliens. Webbed feet are helpful for swimming and would allow humans to swim quickly away from the predators. Webbed feet would make our feet look a lot different than they do now. We would walk differently with webbed feet, but would swim very fast. I am a slow

As indicated by this hypothesis, as we encounter diverse occasions, our sensory system creates physical responses to these occasions. Cases of these responses incorporate expanded heart rate, trembling, irritated stomach, and so forth. These physical responses thusly make enthusiastic responses, for example, outrage, dread and pity. For instance, envision sitting in a dim room without anyone else s input. All of a sudden you hear breathing sound behind you. Your heart rate increments and you may even start to tremble. You translate these physical reactions as you are terrified thus you encounter fear. Gun Bard Theory The Cannon Bard hypothesis of feeling was created by physiologists Walter Cannon and Philip Bard. As indicated by this hypothesis, we feel the feelings and experience the physiological responses, for example, sweating, trembling and muscle strain at the same time. For instance, you are in a dim room without anyone else s input and abruptly you hear breathing sound adjacent. As indicated by the Cannon Bard hypothesis, your heart rate increments and you start to tremble. While you are encountering these physical responses, you additionally encounter the feeling of dread. About 38 million in the united states and 820,000 in the United Kingdom are diagnosed with one of the over 100 types of dementia. It is also and aged related condition, so most people inflicted with it are older rather than younger. A person can have multiple forms of dementia or a disease such as alzheimer s diseases that involves dementia symptoms. Symptoms of dementia include: memory loss, disorientation, loss of motor skills, not being able to eat or drink, depression and even hallucinations. Most of these symptoms are caused due to a problem within the central nervous system, more specifically the brain. As the condition progresses so do the symptoms related to it. In the later stages of the condition, many patients have been noted to have vivid hallucinations that they believe to be real life events. They may not be able to recognize their own loved ones, but sometimes are able to recall back on old memories. In some patients they forget the time and place and even resort back to being a child again (Jenkins C McKay A, 2013). In many forms of dementia, The Frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain has been damaged. The cells in these lobes are dying off slowly and connection is losted. This is due to the loss of neurons in both lobes of the brain. Scary tissues develops in these parts of the brain also. Many of the surviving cells tend to have

In the 1600s, many countries separately set out in exploration for several reasons: for religious expansion and freedom, for the establishment of new land in order to accommodate for growing populations, and for an ultimate economic opportunity. While this allowed for the expansion of civilization and ideas that ultimately led to the creation of the United States, it came at the cost of the abuse and exploitation of entire populations of natives that sometimes led to their complete erasure. The natives of the land, presently known as America, claimed they were subject to these horrors for no more of a reason than fun and the benefit of the incoming colonists as a labor source. However, many colonists convey these experiences with a sort of justification that these natives were, in reality, uncivilized savages who failed to succumb to their wishes of adhering to their culture. These adverse accounts of the growth of the colonies are still heavily debated today due to the lack of truth and bias that exists within the written evidence provided by both sides. While colonist views are challenged in William Shakespeare s The Tempestby expressing the natives in a sympathetic light, it is clearly reflected in John Smith s General History of Virginia and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson through the representation of natives as sadistic and inhumane creatures. Despite the differing accounts on both sides, it is fairly universal that the natives

Shuping March 31, 2015 Brief Paper From The Tower of Babel to Jacob and Esau Reconciled, we learn about honor, betrayal, and forgiveness from the book of Genesis. From these themes we learn what applies to our everyday life and how we are able to survive. At the start of Genesis twelve, God honors a promise that he made to Abraham that he will behold and protect as long as he lived. Go forth from your land and your birthplace and your father s house to the land I will show you. And I will make you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you, and those who damn you I will curse, and all the clans of the earth through you shall be blessed. (Genesis 12: pg. 126). God s determination to honor Abraham was to bring his family and wife back to the birthplace of his father s, where Abraham s name will be blessed and in greatness to people who come and honor him. God placed Abraham to be a father of all nations to kings that will come honor Abraham for his wisdom that he bestows upon them, and to give his seed the land of Canaan and resurrected an altar before him. However, music affects everyone differently, and that effect makes me who I am today. The simplest answer, for me, is that music makes me happy. Musicis always there for me, whether in the form of playing or just listening to it, it is a huge part of my life, and I could not imagine life without it. Throughout my life I have had many people to thank for that, but the person who is initially responsible for my interest in music is my mother. She listened to music frequently and got my brother into band at Randolph Elementary School. After that everything changed. My brother started band in fourth grade and also got involved with Sal Cruz s Cruzline program. Since I was only in first grade, I could not be in band, but I was always forced to go and watch my brother anyway. At first I did not want to be there, and eventually I got bored enough to where I would sit in the back of the room and mimic what Mitchell was doing on my lap. One day Sal noticed me doing that: He asked everyone, Whose little sister is that? Yours? No she s mine. my brother answered. He then replied, Well, come on up here, and we ll get you a box to stand on, and then I want you to play what your brother has been playing I was beyond nervous but I did it anyway, and Sal was so excited, he was hooting and hollering the rest of practice. I guess he liked me because he let me start practicing with everyone and even play in the performance. I did not have a problem with that part. The part I did have a problem with was him singling me out to the entire audience. I was so embarrassed that, while standing on the box, and with hair the length of about half of my body, I dropped my head and let my hair fall around my face the entire time he was telling the audience about me. Little did I know, this would be the first of many performances. This day was the beginning of an entirely different life. My brother and I now had something in common and our relationship grew significantly better from then on. My free time was spent practicing either drums or the piano, which I had also

These images are not only appealing, they must also drive consumers appetites. Important factors must be considered in order to gain attention but also get consumers through the shopping process sooner. An article online outlines the specific technique used in food photography to get attention while being obvious about the products usage and quality (Higgins, 2011). This is important along with design because it gives potential consumers a look at a company s product and may be beneficial for garnering new customers for newer brands. When smaller brands are competing, this is their chance to show off their product and highlight why it may be better than alternatives. Also, people want to see the product, if a product is covered and no image is depicted, the consumer might be more skeptical of the product and its quality. Example of Exceptional Design Packaging: How does typography, graphics, and food photography come together to create a package? Once the bee stings someone, it dies. Most people might think their death is a good thing. Unfortunately, various species of bees have been added to the endangered species list (Kennedy). Bees pollinate about 70% of the crops used by 90% of the world (What Would Happen) and as of February 2017, 10 million bees have died since 2010 ( Bennett). Bees need to be saved to ensure the Earth s survival, along with our own. There are many things believed to be the cause of bee endangerment. Of the survey conducted, 18% believe the cause is from chemicals used on plants such as pesticides; 25% believe it is because people do not like bees and kill them; 13% believe it is from habitat destruction; 25 % believe it is from natural causes. Overall, the general population is correct with regard to why bees have become endangered. Lauren Bennett says the main cause of the rapid decline in bee populations is from natural causes such as global warming and colony collapse disorder, which is when bees abandon their hive and causes the hive to die as well. Marla Spivak, says it is from parasites. Henry Samuel says it is from neonicotinoids, which is a pesticide that is similar to nicotine. The effects of their endangerment, and possible extinction, could potentially lead to our populations decreasing at alarming rates. The Earth would lose

The codes defined slavery as a system that controls black people to take advantage of their labor. By the year 1700, the system spread to the southern colonies in America and slaves and other blacks were legally equivalent to domestic animals. African Americans during the eighteenth century lived in small minimalist log cabins with dirt floors, brick fireplaces, and wooden chimneys. In coastal South Carolina and Georgia, African architecture were very common They had little furniture and a few kitchen supplies, but as time went by, the families got more supplies and the homes became more substantial (Hine, 65). African Americanpeople Africanized the South with many other things such as their religious concepts and practices, African words and modes of expression, music, cooking methods and foods, literature and art. They also were heavy on their notions of kinship and by preserving the West African extended family, a structure for African American culture was created (Hine, 67) . Why The Allies Were Victorious At The End Of World War II Why the Allies were victorious at the end of World War 2 The crushing defeat and ultimate failure of the Axis Powers was caused by significant events that had a great impact on the war. The Allies were victorious in 1945 due to the sheer military power of the United States, the infamous Soviet Transformation and the Battle of Moscow , the crushing fall of Japan and the vast resource differences between the Axis Powers and the Allies. These major events that took place during World War 2 helped shape the victorious outcome for the Allies, by not only weakening the German s military force, but also its confidence. The sheer military power of the United States, and their appearance in the war, both had a major impact on the outcome of the war, striking fear into the opposing military forces. America was and has always been a very wealthy and large economy with an abundant supply of resources. This gave America the ability to mass produce war machines such as planes and tanks to give them a large advantage over the Axis Powers. The US had an over supply of war vehicles, which were later shared with Britain and France, providing a huge advantage over the Axis Powers. According to Historynotes, over 10 million American soldiers were ready to be deployed to help fight against the Axis Powers . This statement clearly proves just how much military power America had over their opponents put together. German and Italian spies were reporting back to their country about the dramatic

And that creates moral hazard for policymakers, because it lowers the barriers of entry into conflict (Gilsinan). When Private military contractors are used they break any established laws to complete their mission. Governments use these contractors because they realize that they can get away with breaking international laws by having the mercenaries break them. Within the realm of politics, social media has the possibility of connecting ordinary citizens with politicians and encourage a more participatory kind of politics (Shirkey, 2011). She never let her mistress know she had ever been to college or Europe or could recognize one word of French that Miss Graham had not taught her (entrez, for example). p.190 Although Corinthians obtained an education, she still ends up working as a maid. Even more interestingly, Corinthians hides her education to keep her job. This job as a maid fringes on Corinthians taking a step back into a form of slavery by being a servant. However, Corinthians finds freedom in her servitude as demonstrated in the following: Actually, the work Corinthians did was good for her. In that house she had what she never had in her own: responsibility. She flourished in a way, and exchanged arrogance occasionally for confidence. p.190 Before Corinthians obtains her job as a maid, she seems to be segregated from her community. Her education and her families money appear to make her unattainable to the
  • 39. The Education System Of The American School System Against School In a progressively more globalized world that necessitates more effective educational practices, the U.S., once the biggest global force in education, has seen its dominance slowly slip out, and its educational status fall even lower than that of several third world countries. The decline experienced in American school system academic achievement is not as a result of lack of funding, but as a consequence of the overall educational system watering down. According to Gatto, educating children through the existing public school system of America is crippling rather than helping them. From his essay, Against School, it is established that the goal of the whole public school system is to limit people s intelligence in an attempt to create a society that is manageable. Gatto continues to state that action is needed to change this situation. He supports his assertions using current and historical information about the American school system and his personal experience. After reading his article, one realizes that most of Gatto s arguments are true. It is true that the American education system is making the students comfort to the government and society norms, which is why they are easily bored. This essay s goal will, therefore, be to support John Gatto s beliefs. To begin with, Gatto utilizes historical information to question the need for getting an education using the American public school system. Past occurrences show that people do not need an education

I thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States together. That is not a good thing. Valley Forge was only 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. This is where we will watch the British. I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are because the army needs more soldiers, the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home. My whole family took part of Boston Tea Partyin 1773 without me. This leads to the Declaration of Dependence in 1776. That is when I knew I should re enlist because I can sense another war coming . If you quit and go back home, you get to live with taxes, tyranny, and fear. You and everyone you care about will be under this life. Far off, possibly unlikely, there is victory. The reason victory seems far, is because there are few soldiers that are fighting. I want to fight to make victory closer. This reason is pushing me to re enlist because of what life would be back home. The choice to fight or not can will change on how you and the people you care about live. I fell asleep so sure of my

Our verbal and nonverbal communication skills are used to process this information. Speaking, listening, and body language are our ability to understand the meaning of communication that we develop throughout our lives. However, as Americans we are able to turn to what we have learned growing up. Once we are born our family, siblings, and our own culture influence us. We are bought up with certain beliefs and traditions. However, I do think that culture does influences how people are permitted to be expressed and how they are perceived. As for social experience people react to different experience in different ways. If someone has been in a certain situation I believe they learn from that experience. This brings me to the certain unfairness, stereotypes, and myths about Hispanic /Latino culture. While growing up we experience some of these types of situations. When we think about a Hispanic/Latino person we think about tamales, tacos, rice and beans which is a stereotype. However, Susie Jans Thomas wrote Beyond Tamales, Tacos, and Our Southern Neighbors: Exploring Latino Culture in Child and Young Adult Literature to show that there is more to them then just those expressions. I believe we have all experienced or witnessed racism, power abuse, and felt lost in one point of our lives. This just shows that we need to try to work harder and together more. Therefore, I do believe I am a better person today because I came from such a loving family. This is something that families are missing throughout the world and that is love, religion, and quality time with loved ones. To me this is why the world is becoming the way it is because there are so many people who do not care or

Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Beowulf s Death 9/11, Sandy Hook, Orlando, Boston Marathon, Hurricane Katrina, and Iraq /Afghanistan war; all these events revolve around death and destruction. When Time magazine asked Americans to rank the most significant event in their lifetime those were the events they choose. Death... the biggest impact and influence in people s life and minds. We see deathtake place in Lordof the Flies and Beowulf. Both stories have appalling and perplexing events that take place throughout the novel. Many of the events that take place result in death. While these stories revolve around death, Piggy and Simon s death, in Lord of the Flies, were much more influential to the other characters, plot, and the overall theme than Beowulf s death. Death can be influential to any story by the way it impacts a character. One character in Beowulf who was affected by death was Wiglaf. Our glorious king! By almighty God, I d rather burn myself than see Flames swirling around my lord (Unknown 725 727) Wiglaf broke down emotionally at the sight of Beowulf s death. This shows Wiglaf s loyalty to Beowulf, and how he truly cared about Beowulf s well being. Just like Beowulf had Wiglaf, Simon and Piggy had Ralph on their side. Ralph was emotionally distressed after Simon s death specifically because of how it happened. Ralph was never able to fully let it go; that s one reason why he breaks down in front of the soldier at the end of the novel. After Piggy and the conch were destroyed, Ralph, with no hope left, was worried he would be next and actually had to run away from the rest of the boys on the island. The boys left on the island could care less about the fact that those two boys were killed and that blood was on their hands. Those boys were even excited about the possibility of killing Ralph. This happens to be a way more influential and important fact to know about the characters in Lord of the Flies because they started to enjoy death. The boys would chant and sing songs about slitting the pig s throat as if it were a game. In contrast, Wiglaf was very distraught over the death of his king. After Beowulf s death the soldiers set up a tower to overlook a creek and they buried jewels in his honor. Typically, Beowulf was only treated one way

The bulls of three breeds are used in rotation in successive generations of crossbred females of the previous generation (37,55). This is thus called the rotational crossing. This system is practiced to maintain heterozygosity and to utilize heterosis for maternal ability of the crossbred dams (55). Three breedcross requires the input of three separate breeds (55). Along similar principles as with backcross, all first cross male progeny are sold. First cross females are joined with bulls of a third unrelated breed, instead of with one of the parent breeds as in the backcross. All progeny of F1 dams are sold for slaughter (55). As such, calves obtain the additional growth benefits of hybrid vigor while heterosis in the cows improves their maternal ability. The terminal cross system is one of the simplest systems to implement and achieves the highest use of heterosis and breed complementarities (17,44). All calves marketed will have the same breed composition. A 24% increase in pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed is expected from this system when compared to the average of the parent breeds. 3) BREEDING FOR COMPOSITE Development of a composite or synthetic breed results from the crossing of two or more existing breeds (43). There are many examples of this in Queensland: Santa Gertrudis, Drought master, Braford, Charbray, Brangus and Belmont Red. The primary advantage of forming composite breeds is that after the initial crosses are made, management requirements are the same as for straight breeding. McDowell

Botnets are designed in order to gather personal information including passwords, credit card details, social security numbers, addresses, and telephone numbers. These data may then be used for crimes including identity theft, frauds, spamming, and other malware distribution. Drozhzhin also stated, Once a computer is a bot, it begins accepting commands from a centralized command server (par. 4). As soon as the device become part of a botnet, they can receive commands to launch attacks on other devices, websites, and networks. This is important to know because in order to launch an effective Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, a large number of bots are required. The attack is more effective because the more zombies recruited, the easier and faster it is for the attacker to constantly transmit requests and malwares to other computers, thus crashing the site. Additionally, multiple bots sending requests from different locations makes the attack tremendously more difficult for antivirus and antispyware to distinguish a malicious request from an actual consumer s request. The worst part is, it is almost nearly impossible to

Introduction The Decadent Art era is marked with the art and literature works which according to the decadent artists are considered beyond any moral or ethical obligations to the society and explore the realism of the society. According to the decadent artists such as Oscar Wilde, Joris Karl Huysman s, and others, the decadent art was necessary to dazzle the masses and awaken them and show them the reality of their life and their inner soul s desires, vices, and virtues instead of leaving them to live in a shroud of fake morality. Sensitivity and subtlety was never seen as a part of the decadent art and instead brutal realism and literary adornments such as nudity, hothouses, and many others were used to describe the emotions and romance of story and the feelings of the characters. Although, the decadent art was focused on reveling the absolute truth of the society without having the patience to be subtle and appreciating the soft feelings of the masses, or respecting morality or ethics; the works of the ... This claim in itself is false and thus, the virtue of the decadent art that it shows only the magnified true picture of every perspective of life becomes false. This virtue becomes non existent as it only shows partial or imagined truth and not the complete and holistic picture. Thus, any literary work which claims to show a holistic picture but instead shows only the fetid and darker side of the artists themselves and not the general society lacks any virtue. This becomes the greatest vice of the decadent literary
