3. Gender Initiatives with
            UNCT Gender Thematic Groups

• In 19 RBEC Countries Gender Thematic Groups operate within
United Nation Country teams

• In 3 RBEC Countries the UNCT Gender Thematic Group is
implementing joint gender programmes/ projects

• 3 of the RBEC Countries the UNCT Gender Thematic Groups are
operating with gender advisor
Gender equality mechanisms and normative frameworks in RBEC Countries

• 21 Countries in the RBEC region have National Gender Equality Strategy/Action Plan

• Law on Gender Equality is in place in 18 Countries of the RBEC region

• Law on Gender Based violence are in place in 19 Countries of RBEC region

• National Machinery for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment is in place in 21
Countries of RBEC Region

• Cross ministerial gender trainings are organized in 21 Countries of the RBEC Region

• 10 Countries of the RBEC region have incorporated Gender perspective into their
National Strategies / Action Plans for sustainable environmental management

• In 9 Countries of the National Development Plan are making reference to gender
