Raksha Bandhan Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of Raksha Bandhan can be both challenging and rewarding. On
one hand, this traditional Indian festival holds deep cultural and emotional significance, making
it a rich and interesting subject to explore. On the other hand, the challenge lies in presenting a
well-researched and thought-provoking piece that goes beyond mere description.
To begin with, delving into the historical and cultural aspects of Raksha Bandhan requires
thorough research to provide readers with accurate and insightful information. Understanding
the origins, traditions, and the evolution of the festival over time is essential for crafting a
comprehensive essay. Additionally, incorporating relevant anecdotes, stories, or cultural nuances
can add depth and authenticity to the narrative.
The emotional aspect of Raksha Bandhan, symbolizing the bond between siblings, demands a
delicate and empathetic approach in writing. Expressing the essence of this emotional connection
requires a nuanced use of language to convey the sentiments associated with the festival.
Striking the right balance between factual information and emotional resonance can be a delicate
task.
Moreover, ensuring that the essay maintains a cohesive structure and logical flow is crucial. The
challenge lies in organizing the information in a way that engages the reader and allows them to
follow the narrative effortlessly. Proper introduction, well-structured body paragraphs, and a
compelling conclusion are essential elements for an effective essay.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on Raksha Bandhan may pose its challenges, the
opportunity to explore and communicate the cultural richness and emotional depth of the festival
makes it a worthwhile endeavor. Through diligent research, empathetic storytelling, and careful
organization, one can create an essay that not only informs but also resonates with readers on a
personal level.
And remember, if you need assistance with similar essays or any other academic writing, you can

Taking a Closer Look at Prison Gangs
Prison Gangs Ever since the creation of the first prison gang the Gypsy Jokers ,
gangs in prisons have been a handful for officials trying to provide safety and
security not only for corrections workers but for inmates as well. Prison gangs have
been responsible for carrying out any number of illicit activites behind bars, these
include but may not be limited to: gambling, drugs, protection, and prostitution
(Knox, 2012). Over the years research for prison gangs proves difficult because of the
secretive nature behind these organizations, but there is new evidence being brought
to light that is helping combat these illusive and lucrative criminal organizations.
There are currently 150,000 incarcerated gangmembers across the United... Show

A study done in 1996 on prisoners of the Arizona Department of Corrections,
followed inmates for the first 3 years of their incarceration. This study found that
inmates with no gang affiliation were significantly less likely that those wit either
street gang affiliation or prison gang affiliation to have been guilty of a violent
misconduct (Griffin, 2006). Also noted in the Griffon study, inmates who have a
gang affiliation are less likely to participate in needed rehab and vocational
programs that may help them upon release. A big problem with prison gangs is
that very little is known about them, this is because they are very secretive, unlike
their counterparts on the streets (Fong, 1991). The reason for this secrecy is so
gang members can avoid being persecuted by the prison administration. Over the
years prison officials have come up with different ways to handle prisoners in
gangs, one method is called jacketing. Jacketing is when an inmate recieves a mark
on his record, or his jacket , that marks him as a gang member. From there an
inmate can be moved to a higher security prison or a different housing unit if
officials felt it was needed (Hunt, 1993). A problem with jacketing is it can be used
by prisoners to get someone moved that they don t like, by simply going to a
supervisor as a confidential informant and pointing someone out as a gang member.
Another popular form of gang control is putting

How Did Dorchester Change
Dorchester was by all means, a fairly successful town by the time the 17th century
came around. However, at the beginning in 1613, a fire ravaged the city changing it
and its inhabitants. While the men and women of Dorchester had seen changes
throughout English rule for years, they were about to experience some more.
Occurring a decade after the monarchy of Englandchanged hands from the Tudors to
the Stuarts, the fire in Dorchester was almost symbolic. As the fire changed the shape
of the city, so too would the Stuart s rule on the people of the city. While not as
prominent of a city as one such as London, Dorchester is one of many cities across
England that reflect the change of the kingdom within its own existence. Towns and
cities like Dorchester evolved just as the country did when reformers... Show more

Dorchester was no different, some of these reforms can be seen when looking at the
bigger events of the city. In 1613 a fire destroyed around half of the houses in the
community. Efforts were of course exercised in an attempt to revive the damaged
town. Matthew Chubb was the man in charge of distributing money given by the king
to help with restoration. Chubb took the opportunity to help friends while hurting
enemies by giving more money to some and less to others. He was focused much
more on maintaining connections with certain people, an older school of thought.
When another fire hurt the town only a decade later, efforts were carried out in a
much fairer manner. Money was immediately distributed while the poor and injured
were cared for. With the influence of Puritan reformers in Dorchester, there was a
greater focus on helping those in need and altruism as some men made major
contributions. Changes in Dorchester reflected the growing Puritan influence that
other cities shared, but there were other changes that came to reflect the whole of
England even
Compare And Contrast Baroque And Baroque Era
The Baroque Era and the Classical Era are two critical time periods in observing
music. Some of the most famous composers have written pieces that are popular in
the world today. The two periods share many similar characteristics, however new
genres and forms developed throughout each period because of new ideas and
knowledge spreading. My personal favorite is the Baroque period because of the
abundance of new musical knowledge that was introduced, particularly in Vivaldi s
famous piece La Primavera, Concertofor Violin and String Orchestra, Op. 8, No. 1, I.
The Baroque Era started in 1600 and lasted till 1750. Some of the famous
composers from the Baroque Era include Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Handel, and JS Bach.
Music in Baroque society became amusement for aristocrats, modern orchestra began
to evolve, and the idea of opera are beginning to develop. In many Baroque pieces
the use of a Basso Continuo, which is played by two instruments typically a keyboard
and a member of the strings family was found in many pieces during this time. The
Baroque period can be characterized with clear and distinct meter, repeated rhythmic
patterns, homophonic texture, and terraced dynamics. The Baroque is also classified
by its distinct genres including Fugue, Solo Concerto, and Cantata. The Ritornello
form being introduced had an impact on Baroque music because it is outlined using
harmonic progressions, key modulations, and motives from the main theme in order
to give character to a piece.
Daisy The Cow
In this report I will be looking at the example of cloning Daisy the cow in order to
produce milk that does not have the beta lactoglobulin protein (BLG) as it was
discovered that many infants were allergic to this naturally present protein. The
cloning of mammals may be done through a range of techniques; however, all of
them look to transfer the genetic material in order to create an organism that is
genetically identical to the original parent (1). The genetic technique used with
Daisy called RNA interference. RNA is a nucleic acid that is in all living cells, its
role is to be a messenger and carry instructions from DNAfor controlling the
production of proteins. RNA is a highly conserved mechanism which has thought to
have evolved as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biodiversity refers to the variety of genes in the gene pool and since cloning creates
genetically identical copies of an organism, in this case a cow, then as the number
of cloning increases, the biodiversity decreases. This will then effect the survival of
the population because without biodiversity then the whole population has a
higher chance of obtaining diseases because their genetic makeup is so similar and
if a disease was to hit then the population may not be able to resist. So if one Daisy
dies, all Daises die. A problem with genetic biodiversity is that if the same genes
were constantly then this may lead to inbreeding. The population will significantly
decrease because as scientists are constantly breeding for the same trait they are
more likely to weed out genes that have not been consciously selected for. Therefore
inbreeding will also effect the survival of the cow
The Themes and Motivations Behind George Orwell s 1984
ABSTRACT Anyone who considers themselves a lover of good fiction must know
who George Orwell is. Anyone who loves good cynical fiction has to have read his
master piece, simply titled 1984. 1984 is a phenomenal tale of government gone
awry, in its attempts to unify what s left of the world, after the atomic wars waged
in Europe. The story is based on Mr. Orwell s fears of immensely powerful
governments, especially totalitarianism. If you are a true lover and you have read the
story, The next logical question one must ask themselves is, do we understand why
he wrote this wonderful piece of work? Please allow me the opportunity to enlighten
you. In order to understand the why; I propose that we must look into the... Show

distaste for the place brought forth his essay, Such, Such were the Joys . (Widman,

published in the Henley and South Oxfordshire Standard, the local newspaper. At
the ripe age of 13, Eric s poem, Awake! Young Men of England , was published.
The poem, a call to arms for able bodied Englishmen to join the war effort, helped
him earn scholarships to Wellington College and Eton College. (Bowker, n.d.) After
spending a term at Wellington in 1917, Eric earned a place at Eton as a King s

several key historical happenings occurred that would shape his later years. Eric

the lower Tana River in Kenya. They live in the riparian forest fragmentation, some
of forest fragmentations are less than one hectare, and even the largest one is not
up to 500 hectares. The habitat loss is one of the main threats of the Tana River red
colbus. The range of this species is significantly small. The forest loss and
fragmentation is mainly causing by agriculture, the increasingly smaller and more
isolated patches of habitat, for instance, forest convert into buildings. Furthermore,
if human need to build a house, human will get the material such as wood, from
forest which increases the loss speed of the habitats. David points out that there is
a 50% decrease of the forest loss in last 20 years due to those activities. Colobus
monkeys are vegetarians, the trees which providing fruit for red colobus monkeys
living in these areas is harvested, resulting in red colobus monkeys instead of fruits;
they eat several kinds of leaves in the main living. However, the nutrition of those
leaves is not rich, so they need to eat a large amount of leaves every day for support
their body health and daily life activities.
The Incarceration Of The United States Of America
Preamble: Whereas at this time, many of the incarcerated men, women, and children
of our great nation are not sufficiently educated to be employed by the various
corporations in the United States of America. To further develop the potential
workforce of America, these incarcerated peoples should become proficient in the
reading and writing of the English language. This in turn will help reduce the tax
rates of the Federal Bureau of Prisons by lessening the amount of people imprisoned.
According to the article Educated Prisoners are Less Likely to Return to Prisonfound
in the Journal of Correctional Education, the prisoners who undergo an educational
program during their incarceration are far less likely to return than prisoners who
did not received any education during their confinement. In the state of Ohio, the
total rate of recidivism (an inmate s relapse back into criminal behavior after they
received sanctions or underwent an intervention for a previous crime) was 40 percent
while the prisoners who had completed an academic program during imprisonment
had an overall rate of 18 percent. When the recidivism rate is lowered, these
aforementioned correctional education programs produce hundreds of millions of
dollars worth of savings annually for the country. Additionally, the education of the
incarcerated peoples of America will increase the national literacy rate and promote
the general welfare of the country.

The League Of Nations And Modern Day Regulations
To understand the concept of a world society fully, we must first look at the
historical evidence leading up to modern day regulations. The league of nations
came into affect after the end of world war one. The league of nations was set up in
order to stop such a war from every occurring again. It was the idea of American
president Woodrow Wilson. The outcome of this league created one of the first
circumstances in which Universalistic models of the state, society, and the individual
were debated and conventionalized on a world wide scale (Elliot. 2014:412). The
leagues main aims were to, encourage co operation amongst the worlds countries in
order to prevent any future wars. Secondly, disarmament, the idea was to try and
disarm the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be evident in the league of nations as consequently, another world war
started twenty years later. This created a lot of critical responses to the league and
often condemning it, as it failed to achieve its aims. It could be said that the league
of nations was not incredibly competent. After the war, it was increasingly understood
that this older world of corporate nationalism had created two world wars, a massive
depression, enormous moral violations including a Holocaust, and unsustainably
unjust inequalities of racism and colonialism (Meyer 2010). The league did not have
any army which contributed to its many weaknesses. Therefore, had no powerful
means to enforce visions. Because the league of nations was deemed ineffectual. This
steered way to the development of the United Nations (UN). The idea of the United
Nations was comprised in 1943 but officially declared as an organisation in 1945. In
modern times the number of countries that have joined the UN has vastly increased.
The UN is charged with upholding international laws and human rights as well as
ensuring world wide security, economic development and social advancement. Over
the following years this has increased the amount of rights an individual has. As more
and more countries joined the UN in order to be a part of universal; models and
prescriptions about how to organise national populations on the basis of individual
citizenship, further delegitimising the
The Effects Of Meditation On Stress Management
The Effects of Meditation in Stress Management
Hannah Gray
Amberton University
Introduction
Over the past few years, I have developed more and more stress in my life. I have
issues with being overwhelmed and being anxious. Throughout this period of
added stress and building anxiety, I have searched for ways to help manage those
things. I wanted to be able to relax. I wanted to be able to focus, remain calm, and
remain happy. I needed to do all of these things in order to be productive. One of the
ways to manage my stress, reduce my anxiety, remain calm and happy, and be able to
focus, was to practice meditation regularly. I began going to guided meditation classes

Bond (2011) states, Along with enhancing cognitive performance, meditation seems
to have an effect on emotional well being (p. 1). I want to see how meditation has
helped others, and I want to see the research that has already been conducted.
Another purpose I have in this study is to be able to use meditation to help me
improve my relationships with others. Charoensukmongkol (2014) says, People who
regularly practice mindfulness meditation can easily develop the ability to detect
and understand the emotions of others (p. 3). It would be very beneficial to every
aspect of my life if I could find a way to understand the emotions of others more
clearly.
Significance
This study is significant because stress can be detrimental to one s physical,
emotional, and mental health. Schreiner Malcolm (2008) suggests that, mindfulness
training is beneficial in reducing the symptoms of subclinical depression and
anxiety and can substantially reduce stress (p. 1). It is always important to find
ways to help manage and reduce daily stressors. I think that many people would care
about this study, because stress is something that everyone experiences throughout
their life in one way or another. Although stress is not always negative, most of the
time, it is. Most people would want to know how they could manage and reduce
their stress. I think that my study will make contributions of relief for those who are
looking for ways to manage stress, relax, focus,

disabilities are no exception, and this is all fine but it all matters if the issue is
accurate and non offensive. Well despite what many people think, most media
representations of disabled people these days are accurate. There are numerous
amount of films and novels that feature disabled people and here are some reasons
why they are accurate.
First and foremost, media representations don t just go from film to novels, they can

Does Acupuncture Help Back Pain
If you are experiencing lower back pain, you are not alone. Nearly 80% of people will
have low back pain at some point in life, and it is one of the top reasons people

effective tools for treating back pain is acupuncture.
What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that involves inserting thin needles at
certain points on the body. Practitioners believe that there are more than 2,000 points
throughout the body that are connected by pathways, which create a flow of energy
called qi. Stimulating these points with metallic needles can correct an imbalance of
qi and improve the flow of energy in the body.... Show more content on

Acupuncture needles stimulate the central nervous system, releasing opioid peptides,
a naturally occurring chemical in the brain that plays a significant role in the
reduction of pain. Acupuncture can also be used to activate the hypothalamus and
pituitary gland, which alters the secretion of neurotransmitters and neurohormones,
further reducing pain. This stimulation of electromagnetic points on the body starts
the flow of endorphins, the body s natural painkillers.
When done by an experienced, trained acupuncturist at Fick Chiropractic Centers,
acupuncture is a safe and effective medical treatment for lower back pain. In addition
to acupuncture, Fick Chiropractic Centers also offers pain relief and injury treatment,
corrective exercise and lifestyle advice, and expert spinal and postural

EDUCATION ACTS AND REPORTS

Integration of the various racial and ethnic groups, the central aim of the 1 Malaysia
concept, had always been the primary concern of the governments education policy

The main issues in the National Education were: i) The desire to form one National
Education System for all races; ii) To make the Malay language the main medium of
instruction; iii) To establish a curriculum orientated towards the local environment
through the formulation of a common education syllabus with similar contents; and
iv) Strengthen the National Education System for all students in it.
The development of the formation of the Education Act was continued in order to
resolve several requests voiced by the different races in Malaysia and to improve on
suggestions recommended in the Razak Report. This was known as the Rahman Talib
Report (1960) and it became the basis for the formation of the 1961 Education Act.
Amongst the changes and amendments made to the Razak Report were: primary
education was free; primary schools became national schools and national type
schools; advanced education was extended to 15 years of age; students advanced to
the next standard automatically; Islamic studies for students when there were not less
than 15 students; and Moral education was given due attention.
After the 1960 Abdul Rahman Talib Report, there come more reports for example
the Hussien Onn Report (1971) and 1979 Mahathir Report. Both these Reports were
done to re examine the Country s Education Policy which was based on the Razak

A Child On The Autism Spectrum
When the word autism is stated what is the first picture that comes to mind? Is it a
child throwing themselves on the ground and having an uncontrollable fit because the
situation has changed from the standard routine all of a sudden? Or a child that is
rocking back and forth constantly, or playing with one or two toys for a very long
time without getting bored. Currently one out of 88 children is diagnosed with
having an autism spectrumdisorder also known as ASD . Smith R, Hannah S,
Sengmuller E (2014 p9) Is there a way to help a child on the autism spectrum
without the need for them to be on medication that has its own side effects on how
the child behaves? Can a change in the diet help to control some of the side effects

What are the common diets for autism and what is the difference between these

The Threats of Cross-Site Request Forgery and Cross-Site...
One click; that is all it takes for hackers to steal the information they desire. As the
Internet continues to grow with new web applications, associated security threats
also grow. Two of the most common, and dangerous, threats to web applications
are Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and Cross Site Scripting (CSS); in fact, both
threats appear in the 2013 OWASP Top 10 list of critical security risks.
Understanding the threat of CSRF and CSS is essential to reducing the risk faced by
users and developers of web applications.
CSRF
Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is an attack technique that exploits browser and
HTTP weaknesses to send unauthorized requests to a web server using end user
credentials (Maes, Heyman, Desmet, Joosen, 2009). Often, as a convenience, web
applications will store end user information in cookies managed by a browser;
when a web application finds this data in the browser, it is assumed to be coming
from a trusted source (Maes, et al., 2009). This trust, however, is the main exploit
of a CSRF attack. Once a hacker gets access to an end user browser, any web
application storing credentials in the browser becomes vulnerable to attack (Maes, et
al., 2009). This access is typically gained through URL manipulation or injecting
hidden form fields into a web page using Cross Site Scripting.
CSS
Another attack exploiting trust is Cross Site Scripting (CSS). CSS works by adding
malicious HTML, JavaScript, or other client side scripts to a web application

A divergent problem has been proposed by the South African Provincial
Administration (SAPA) to my firm. After an extensive screening of different
transport options, SAPA has decided to build a railway, 80 km long between its
two major cities with objectives of relieving the traffic on roadways linking the two
cities and stimulating economic development. A choice between the two types of
gauges is to be made. One is the existing Cape gauge 1,067 mm, the other, a
Standard Gauge of 1,435 mm. In order to solve the problem, pros and cons of each
type looking mainly at cost, safety, and performance which measures the
comfortability and maintenance of the track will be addressed starting with Cape
gauges and later, Standard gauges.

Having a uniform gauge gives convenience not only to engineers responsible for
construction but also to passengers as there may be no break of gauge needed, where
Ilie (2012) demonstrated that a break of gauge is seen as an obstacle to the smooth
flow of traffic which would consequently add delays, cost, and inconvenience.
Assuming the 80 km distance to have mountainous regions, the Cape gauge could be
the optimal choice in this situation. History research shows that narrow gauges were
used in mountainous regions. These gauges are also a substitute to places where
standard gauge trains would need tunnels or bridges (http://www.gaugemaster.com

ones are already producing Cape gauge
Analysis of Susan Glaspell’s “Trifles” Essay
The single act play Trifles is loosely based on the murder of a farmer in the state of
Iowa in the early nineteenth century, which Glaspell reported on while working as
a journalist. The farmer s wife was accused of the murder, and was initially
convicted, but later acquitted. Literary analysts note that Glaspell approached the
case like a detective (Bryan and Wolf). More than a decade after that incident, when
she was a career writer, analysts describe, in a span of ten days, Glaspell composed a
one act playbeing inspired from that real life murderevent (Bryan and Wolf). In

Examples Of Satire In Khushwant Singh
Satirical Approach to the Short Stories of Khushwanta Singh
Goutam Barman

Abstract
The present study deeply explores the satirical approach adopted by Khushwant Singh
in his short stories. It shows that the author, resorting to the weapons of satire, hold
the vices, evils, follies and abuses, which are unflinchingly stalking the Indian socio
political and cultural milieu, up to severe ridicule and scorn with the humanitarian
intent to rectify them for the well being of the society in general and all humanity in
particular. It also shows that the author relentlessly launches a scathing attack on the
unscrupulous political leaders, anglicised brown sahibs, impostor sandhus,
superstitious Indians and their belief in the bogus practices of astrology, palmistry,

The satirical writing is rooted in the Latin literature. Though Quintilian was
previously thought as the originator of satire, now it is attributed to Aristophanes
who used satire first in his Old Comedy. Satire is a form of literary expression where
follies, vices, shortcomings and abuses of the society and the individuals are ridiculed
with the intent to rectify them. Satire is dyed with the colour of humanism. Satire is
found in artistic forms of expression, including literature, plays, songs, arts. Satire
intends to improve humanity by criticising the ills and evils which stalking the

constructive criticism. The satirists are reckoned as moralists as they examine and

a moving subway headed towards the Bronx. The passengers introduce Samuel and
friends as tough little boys that are not afraid of anything. The boys are just being
boys is also used. Many of the passengers had opportunities to tell them to calm
down or even to tell them to stop. This could of have prevented the death of Samuel.
Some men relive their childhood through the boy s and many of the ladies shaking
their head with disapproval. A woman passenger does approach the boys only to be
laughed at when she warns them about their behavior. As another onlooker thinks he

In the end, Samuel dies a tragic death. The cord puller action did more harm than
helping the situation. A tone is the way the author conveys his or her unstated
attitudes toward the story. The tone from the beginning to the end of Samuel is a
serious tone. Some boys are very tough. They re afraid of nothing. The description
Paley gives in the first two sentences makes you feel that the tone is going to be
serious. Another example can be when the ladies in subway car become angry
when they look at the boys. Most of them brought their brows together and hoped
the boys could see their disapproval . They convey the serious tone through the way
they feel through facial expressions. Thoughts of one of the women passenger s
shows a mothers concern when she attempts to confront the boys. One of the ladies
wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off the platform or I ll call
the cop. The tone makes the situation serious tone even if it was thought and not an
action. In another paragraph her action show the seriousness of the situation when
thinks of her own child. She stood up with determination and went to the door. Her
action tells us that tone was not to be taken lightly and it was a serious matter.
Foreshadowing is to show or indicate an action to be coming. Although the story is
centered around Samuel, it is actually told by the passengers who witness the turn of
events of Samuel and his friends Alfred,

This was not the only hurtful reaction I received as I learned to operate a

imagine they wondered about me with love and concern only a child can give

and how is that fair? It is the child s parent who teaches them not to care by hustling
their child out of sight, as if my looking at the child is a cancerous wish upon them

The Dangers Of Prison Gang And Gangs
Prison Gang and Violence

Abstract
The most heinous crimes committed in the prisons are done by the hands of prison
gangs. Gangs compete with other gangs to be the most dangerous of them all. There
are many reasons why an inmate would join a prison gang. Some do it for the power
although others do it for protection from rival gangs or people who don t like them.
CBC News reported that in the last 5 years the numbers of inmates who are
affiliated with gangs has risen by 32%. Some people believe that prisons are the
breeding grounds for gang initiation and joining. Adult gang members in prison
range from ages 18 to 65 years old. Many prison gang members are brainwashed.
They are used to being fed, clothed, and sheltered in prison that they are unable to

in the real world, gang members return to prison because that is what they are used
to. It is common to find ex con gang members panhandling on the streets or resorting

The Arguments Of The Article The Ciccotello Article
The arguments in the Ciccotello article This exercise highlights some interesting
trends. During the same 48 year period, the latter half of the 20th century achieved
a far higher ROE than in the first half. This is true in nine of the ten industries, as
return of equity is an essential criterion for Dupont analysis. This obvious inter
quartile range was revealed in almost every industry. Same thing applies for the
Tobin s Q which is researched. The reason why the dramatic rise during the past
twenty years is basically the popularized use of uncorporate public structures. This
corporate governance structure has a couple of key point for being so popular
including the demand by investors for greater transparency. The Tobin s Q suggests a
bigger gap between the best and the rest of companies (Ciccotello, 2015). One way to
explain the huge shift of funding sources can be the competitive global market and
enhancement of corporate control. Internal control is usually based on the agency
relationship between ownership and subordinate management. For companies that are
not public yet, strengthening internal control is a good way to mitigate the conflict
between management and ownership. Distributing profits between board and
managers according to a fair regulation can help build effective incentive, oversee and
balanced mechanism, which therefore reduces the agency costs (Ciccotello, 2015).
Since internal control is in order to increase the operational
Jonathon Swift Misogyny
Jonathon Swift steps into risky territory as he addresses misogyny in the invasive,
satirical way he does in his (year) controversial poem The Lady s Dressing Room.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Lady Montagu takes advantage of her literary pull and
writes a satirical response, clearly offended by the misogynist message she
assumed the poem to have. While Swift s poem gives a significant amount of
evidence to justify Montagu s retort, there is perhaps a deeper amount of evidence
that suggests she missed Swift s point. Each poem has a satiric closure at its end, but
Swift s choice of words lean towards a position of commentary on misogynyrather
than a position supporting it. In contrast, the last line of Montagu s poem pins Swift
down as a staunch... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After their beauty has been brought to life from the dung in which they were planted
in, women become gaudy tulips (). Understandably, one can see how Lady Montagu
may have danced over this image with the stench lingering from the final word she
read. Had she taken the time to analyze this phrase, she may not have been so harsh
in her action. To begin, one must start with gaudy, simply because of its modern
connotation to mean something is showy, or tasteless in its ornateness. In the context
of this poem, this word did not have such a connotation, so as it appears to mean,
simply, luxurious (Oxford English Dictionary). Keeping this is in mind as one looks
at the context of the tulip at this time, it is clear that this simple comparison to a
flower actually as much more meaning to it than at first glance. Just before swift s
time the tulip caused a financial crisis because of how desired it was (Donatini).
This being said, the tulip had not only visual beauty but historical extravagance.
Knowing the background on both gaudy and tulip, it is easy to see that Lady
Montagu failed to see the rich beauty Swift truly was emphasizing that is found
within women, a beauty that is truly dependent upon, not despite, their dung like
qualities. [This imagery paints an incredible picture of the idea that beauty can, and
traditionally does, come from forth from unexpected places. This is true especially
when one takes the image further in terms of the seed of the tulip having contained
within it all the beauty it will possess when it becomes a full flower, thus needing the
rich dung to encourage that beauty to blossom.] It is evident that Montagu missed all
this image has to offer a woman judging by the harsh, though clever, final line in her

Amazon.com spends a substantial amount on Web advertising and marketing. The
firm spent over $340,000 for the first half of the 1996 and ranked 34th in Web ad
spending. Since then, however, these expenses have gone up significantly. Also,

husband to death. During the investigation the sheriff and squad of detectives are
clueless and unable to find any evidence or motive to directly tie Mrs. Wright to the

and stretch it out. When I am skating there is a trick called a staple gun. That is
where I take one leg off of my board and stick in on the ground, forming a 45 degree
angle. As you can tell these are very similar stunts. I am good at lunging in marching
band because I am good at performing the staple gun on my skateboard. This is
probably my favorite movement skill that is in marching band and in
skateboarding. Of course you need leg strength to be good at skateboarding.
Skating is all about your legs, therefore you need no upper body strength to be able
to shred on a skateboard. However did you know that that is the exact same thing
with marching band. In marching band i hold my tube from my shoulders, and my
shoulders are on my legs. Therefore my legs are actually lifting my instrument. In
addition to holding my instrument, my legs are also running across the field. This
means that you should work out properly. Every Day at the gym I do leg lifts, and
leg curls. These are common leg workouts to enhance your leg s strength.
8. I am in competitive marching band. This means that I can compete up to 16
different bands at a time. In band we all have the mindset of a winner. Right when
we march onto the field as a band, we know that we will own that field, and that we
will win. Winning does not mean everything, but it means
Why Military Boot Camp is Tough
Have you ever experienced one of the hardest and most challenging things on the
planet earth? Boot camp, also known as basic training, is one of the toughest
programs you may go through. It requires a lot of physical and mental preparation
and strength. Depending on which branch of the military you go into, there are
different requirements and needs but one is just as challenging as the other. The
length of boot camp is about three to four months long depending on the branch you
go into. Boot camp is very mentally and physically challenging but prepares you for
your duties in the United States Military. According to Petty Officer Charles
Colemer, the first known program similar to boot camp was back in ancient Greece
to help train... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You must pass the ASVAB test and the physical in order to be able to go to boot
camp. In the United States Military, there are four major branches the army, navy,
air force and the marines (Todaysmilitary.com table 1). Each of them specialize in
different aspects of the military. The army is mainly the front lines, the navy
mainly deals with the seas, the air force deals mainly with flying, and the marines
are a mix of the army, navy, and air force. The Army boot camp is about 10 weeks
long depending on if you make it through it all. If you are accepted by the army
then you will be sent to one of four places, Fort Benning in Georgia, Fort Jackson in
South Carolina, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, Fort Knox in Kentucky or Fort
Sill in Oklahoma depending on what job you will have (Todaysmilitary.com table
1 and Military.com par 13). The physical requirements that you need to pass are a
timed two mile run, two minutes of sit ups and two minutes of push ups (table 1).
Once you have done the requirements then you have officially started boot camp.
On the website Military.com it gives you an overview of what you can expect in
army boot camp. The first week of army boot camp is known as zero week . Zero
week is your reception. Here you will say goodbye to your friends and family, get
your haircut and begin getting ready to get physically fit (par 2). Next is week one,
the first true week of boot camp. During week one, you learn rules,
Interpersonal Communication Skills Test On
Communication
I took the Interpersonal Communication Skills Test on Queendom.com . It seemed
relevant to my work as a counselor since I will be communicating with clients on a
daily basis. The goal of this test is to determine how effectively someone
communicates with others, as well as to offer beneficial advice in order to improve
any problems one may have that could slow down the communication process. This
test is a valuable instrument for employees in the counseling profession since it is a
career of constant growth. It also seems useful in several other careers that rely on
constant communication. This particular communication skills test was designed to
examine insightfulness, verbal expression, assertiveness, listening skills, and
emotional management. A couple examples of the test questions include: I can
detect the mood of others by looking at them as we converse and I manage to
express my ideas clearly . A Likert scale is used in the scoring process with answers
ranging from Almost never to Most of the time . One negative aspect of this test is its
reliability on self reports. It can be difficult to admit to your communication
weaknesses, especially if you are unaware of them. From negotiating for a promotion
to resolving a conflict with a spouse, good communication skills can greatly improve
life, while weak communication skills can make everyday interactions frustrating and
tense. Interpersonal communication encompasses a number of communication
styles; there
Divergent Book Comparison
Divergent by Veronica Roth is about Beatrice Tris Prior who lives in post
apocalyptic dystopia world. Where everyone is divided into five factions based on
their dispositions. To determine their dispositions teenagers, take an aptitude test that
determines the faction for which they are best suited. When Tris aptitude test results
show she matches with three factions. Which is seen as a threat to society and
people like that are called Divergent. The book continues with Tris and her divergent
life. Also, there is a romantic subplot between Tris and her Dauntless faction
instructor, Four.
One other book Divergent is very similar to is The Hunger Games. In The Hunger
Games, the main character is Katniss Everdeen and in her dystopian world,
Comic Collecting Research Paper
I sat in the airport boarding area hyperventilating. My father looked over at me
from his seat, more annoyed than concerned. He knew that I didn t want to travel,
yet he made it clear that I, being 14 years old, had no choice in the matter. We were
going to visit my grandparents in Puerto Rico. They hadn t seen me in years and
had been asking for a visit for some time. I was told it would be a time to reconnect
with my dad s side of the family, enjoy the country air and the beaches. Oh, and
there was this one other thing. I wasn t supposed to let anyone know that my mother
had died a year and a half ago. You see, my father hadn t found the right way to tell
them that their ex daughter in law had succumbed to cancer after a two year battle...

Why is it that THIS hobby has had the most profound and lasting effect on my
ability to help control my anxiety? Sure, comics, like almost every other collection
require careful organization. In that sense, they are almost identical to anything
else I ve collected. Bag them, board them, make sure that they are properly stored
in an area that s not too hot or not too cold. If history is a guide, my fascination
with comic collecting should ve gone the way of every other collection I d ever
attempted. Yet, it didn t...and I think I know why. It s the story. I didn t just read that
copy of Flash #30 fifty times to distract myself from the pain that my father forced
me to endure on that trip. Sure, that was part of it, but the story, of a young Wally
West who had graduated from sidekick status to inherit the mantle of the Flash
after his parental figure, Barry Allen had suddenly died, resonated with me. Like
Wally, here I was, alone in the world, figuring out my place, my powers , if you
will. This story, and so many others, unfold over months, years and even decades.
They provide rich, complicated plots, featuring individuals who despite their
extraordinary abilities or skill face extreme hardship and yet still persevere and

  • 2. Taking a Closer Look at Prison Gangs Prison Gangs Ever since the creation of the first prison gang the Gypsy Jokers , gangs in prisons have been a handful for officials trying to provide safety and security not only for corrections workers but for inmates as well. Prison gangs have been responsible for carrying out any number of illicit activites behind bars, these include but may not be limited to: gambling, drugs, protection, and prostitution (Knox, 2012). Over the years research for prison gangs proves difficult because of the secretive nature behind these organizations, but there is new evidence being brought to light that is helping combat these illusive and lucrative criminal organizations. There are currently 150,000 incarcerated gangmembers across the United... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A study done in 1996 on prisoners of the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed inmates for the first 3 years of their incarceration. This study found that inmates with no gang affiliation were significantly less likely that those wit either street gang affiliation or prison gang affiliation to have been guilty of a violent misconduct (Griffin, 2006). Also noted in the Griffon study, inmates who have a gang affiliation are less likely to participate in needed rehab and vocational programs that may help them upon release. A big problem with prison gangs is that very little is known about them, this is because they are very secretive, unlike their counterparts on the streets (Fong, 1991). The reason for this secrecy is so gang members can avoid being persecuted by the prison administration. Over the years prison officials have come up with different ways to handle prisoners in gangs, one method is called jacketing. Jacketing is when an inmate recieves a mark on his record, or his jacket , that marks him as a gang member. From there an inmate can be moved to a higher security prison or a different housing unit if officials felt it was needed (Hunt, 1993). A problem with jacketing is it can be used by prisoners to get someone moved that they don t like, by simply going to a supervisor as a confidential informant and pointing someone out as a gang member. Another popular form of gang control is putting

  • 4. How Did Dorchester Change Dorchester was by all means, a fairly successful town by the time the 17th century came around. However, at the beginning in 1613, a fire ravaged the city changing it and its inhabitants. While the men and women of Dorchester had seen changes throughout English rule for years, they were about to experience some more. Occurring a decade after the monarchy of Englandchanged hands from the Tudors to the Stuarts, the fire in Dorchester was almost symbolic. As the fire changed the shape of the city, so too would the Stuart s rule on the people of the city. While not as prominent of a city as one such as London, Dorchester is one of many cities across England that reflect the change of the kingdom within its own existence. Towns and cities like Dorchester evolved just as the country did when reformers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dorchester was no different, some of these reforms can be seen when looking at the bigger events of the city. In 1613 a fire destroyed around half of the houses in the community. Efforts were of course exercised in an attempt to revive the damaged town. Matthew Chubb was the man in charge of distributing money given by the king to help with restoration. Chubb took the opportunity to help friends while hurting enemies by giving more money to some and less to others. He was focused much more on maintaining connections with certain people, an older school of thought. When another fire hurt the town only a decade later, efforts were carried out in a much fairer manner. Money was immediately distributed while the poor and injured were cared for. With the influence of Puritan reformers in Dorchester, there was a greater focus on helping those in need and altruism as some men made major contributions. Changes in Dorchester reflected the growing Puritan influence that other cities shared, but there were other changes that came to reflect the whole of England even
  • 5. Compare And Contrast Baroque And Baroque Era The Baroque Era and the Classical Era are two critical time periods in observing music. Some of the most famous composers have written pieces that are popular in the world today. The two periods share many similar characteristics, however new genres and forms developed throughout each period because of new ideas and knowledge spreading. My personal favorite is the Baroque period because of the abundance of new musical knowledge that was introduced, particularly in Vivaldi s famous piece La Primavera, Concertofor Violin and String Orchestra, Op. 8, No. 1, I. The Baroque Era started in 1600 and lasted till 1750. Some of the famous composers from the Baroque Era include Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Handel, and JS Bach. Music in Baroque society became amusement for aristocrats, modern orchestra began to evolve, and the idea of opera are beginning to develop. In many Baroque pieces the use of a Basso Continuo, which is played by two instruments typically a keyboard and a member of the strings family was found in many pieces during this time. The Baroque period can be characterized with clear and distinct meter, repeated rhythmic patterns, homophonic texture, and terraced dynamics. The Baroque is also classified by its distinct genres including Fugue, Solo Concerto, and Cantata. The Ritornello form being introduced had an impact on Baroque music because it is outlined using harmonic progressions, key modulations, and motives from the main theme in order to give character to a piece.

Daisy The Cow In this report I will be looking at the example of cloning Daisy the cow in order to produce milk that does not have the beta lactoglobulin protein (BLG) as it was discovered that many infants were allergic to this naturally present protein. The cloning of mammals may be done through a range of techniques; however, all of them look to transfer the genetic material in order to create an organism that is genetically identical to the original parent (1). The genetic technique used with Daisy called RNA interference. Biodiversity refers to the variety of genes in the gene pool and since cloning creates genetically identical copies of an organism, in this case a cow, then as the number of cloning increases, the biodiversity decreases. This will then effect the survival of the population because without biodiversity then the whole population has a higher chance of obtaining diseases because their genetic makeup is so similar and if a disease was to hit then the population may not be able to resist. So if one Daisy dies, all Daises die. A problem with genetic biodiversity is that if the same genes were constantly then this may lead to inbreeding. The population will significantly decrease because as scientists are constantly breeding for the same trait they are more likely to weed out genes that have not been consciously selected for. Therefore inbreeding will also effect the survival of the cow

The Incarceration Of The United States Of America Preamble: Whereas at this time, many of the incarcerated men, women, and children of our great nation are not sufficiently educated to be employed by the various corporations in the United States of America. To further develop the potential workforce of America, these incarcerated peoples should become proficient in the reading and writing of the English language. This in turn will help reduce the tax rates of the Federal Bureau of Prisons by lessening the amount of people imprisoned. According to the article Educated Prisoners are Less Likely to Return to Prisonfound in the Journal of Correctional Education, the prisoners who undergo an educational program during their incarceration are far less likely to return than prisoners who did not received any education during their confinement. In the state of Ohio, the total rate of recidivism (an inmate s relapse back into criminal behavior after they received sanctions or underwent an intervention for a previous crime) was 40 percent while the prisoners who had completed an academic program during imprisonment had an overall rate of 18 percent. When the recidivism rate is lowered, these aforementioned correctional education programs produce hundreds of millions of dollars worth of savings annually for the country. Additionally, the education of the incarcerated peoples of America will increase the national literacy rate and promote the general welfare of the country. The league of nations came into affect after the end of world war one. The league of nations was set up in order to stop such a war from every occurring again. It was the idea of American president Woodrow Wilson. The outcome of this league created one of the first circumstances in which Universalistic models of the state, society, and the individual were debated and conventionalized on a world wide scale (Elliot. 2014:412). The leagues main aims were to, encourage co operation amongst the worlds countries in order to prevent any future wars. Secondly, disarmament, the idea was to try and disarm the... This created a lot of critical responses to the league and often condemning it, as it failed to achieve its aims. It could be said that the league of nations was not incredibly competent. After the war, it was increasingly understood that this older world of corporate nationalism had created two world wars, a massive depression, enormous moral violations including a Holocaust, and unsustainably unjust inequalities of racism and colonialism (Meyer 2010). The league did not have any army which contributed to its many weaknesses. Therefore, had no powerful means to enforce visions. Because the league of nations was deemed ineffectual. This steered way to the development of the United Nations (UN). The idea of the United Nations was comprised in 1943 but officially declared as an organisation in 1945. In modern times the number of countries that have joined the UN has vastly increased. The UN is charged with upholding international laws and human rights as well as ensuring world wide security, economic development and social advancement. Over the following years this has increased the amount of rights an individual has. As more and more countries joined the UN in order to be a part of universal; models and prescriptions about how to organise national populations on the basis of individual citizenship, further delegitimising the

The development of the formation of the Education Act was continued in order to resolve several requests voiced by the different races in Malaysia and to improve on suggestions recommended in the Razak Report. • 21. The Threats of Cross-Site Request Forgery and Cross-Site... One click; that is all it takes for hackers to steal the information they desire. As the Internet continues to grow with new web applications, associated security threats also grow. Two of the most common, and dangerous, threats to web applications are Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and Cross Site Scripting (CSS); in fact, both threats appear in the 2013 OWASP Top 10 list of critical security risks. Understanding the threat of CSRF and CSS is essential to reducing the risk faced by users and developers of web applications. CSRF Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is an attack technique that exploits browser and HTTP weaknesses to send unauthorized requests to a web server using end user credentials (Maes, Heyman, Desmet, Joosen, 2009). • 22. Disadvantages Of A Divergent Problem Divergent Problem Statement A divergent problem has been proposed by the South African Provincial Administration (SAPA) to my firm. After an extensive screening of different transport options, SAPA has decided to build a railway, 80 km long between its two major cities with objectives of relieving the traffic on roadways linking the two cities and stimulating economic development. A choice between the two types of gauges is to be made. One is the existing Cape gauge 1,067 mm, the other, a Standard Gauge of 1,435 mm. In order to solve the problem, pros and cons of each type looking mainly at cost, safety, and performance which measures the comfortability and maintenance of the track will be addressed starting with Cape gauges and later, Standard gauges. Assuming the 80 km distance to have mountainous regions, the Cape gauge could be the optimal choice in this situation. History research shows that narrow gauges were used in mountainous regions. These gauges are also a substitute to places where standard gauge trains would need tunnels or bridges (http://www.gaugemaster.com /narrow gauge.html). Difficulty in finding the manufactures is eased as the existing ones are already producing Cape gauge

Analysis of Susan Glaspell’s “Trifles” Essay The single act play Trifles is loosely based on the murder of a farmer in the state of Iowa in the early nineteenth century, which Glaspell reported on while working as a journalist. The farmer s wife was accused of the murder, and was initially convicted, but later acquitted. Literary analysts note that Glaspell approached the case like a detective (Bryan and Wolf). This is true in nine of the ten industries, as return of equity is an essential criterion for Dupont analysis. This obvious inter quartile range was revealed in almost every industry. Same thing applies for the Tobin s Q which is researched. The reason why the dramatic rise during the past twenty years is basically the popularized use of uncorporate public structures. This corporate governance structure has a couple of key point for being so popular including the demand by investors for greater transparency. The Tobin s Q suggests a bigger gap between the best and the rest of companies (Ciccotello, 2015). One way to explain the huge shift of funding sources can be the competitive global market and enhancement of corporate control. Internal control is usually based on the agency relationship between ownership and subordinate management. For companies that are not public yet, strengthening internal control is a good way to mitigate the conflict between management and ownership. Distributing profits between board and managers according to a fair regulation can help build effective incentive, oversee and balanced mechanism, which therefore reduces the agency costs (Ciccotello, 2015). While Swift s poem gives a significant amount of evidence to justify Montagu s retort, there is perhaps a deeper amount of evidence that suggests she missed Swift s point. Understandably, one can see how Lady Montagu may have danced over this image with the stench lingering from the final word she read. Had she taken the time to analyze this phrase, she may not have been so harsh in her action. To begin, one must start with gaudy, simply because of its modern connotation to mean something is showy, or tasteless in its ornateness. In the context of this poem, this word did not have such a connotation, so as it appears to mean, simply, luxurious (Oxford English Dictionary). Keeping this is in mind as one looks at the context of the tulip at this time, it is clear that this simple comparison to a flower actually as much more meaning to it than at first glance. Just before swift s time the tulip caused a financial crisis because of how desired it was (Donatini). This being said, the tulip had not only visual beauty but historical extravagance. Knowing the background on both gaudy and tulip, it is easy to see that Lady Montagu failed to see the rich beauty Swift truly was emphasizing that is found within women, a beauty that is truly dependent upon, not despite, their dung like qualities. [This imagery paints an incredible picture of the idea that beauty can, and traditionally does, come from forth from unexpected places. This is true especially when one takes the image further in terms of the seed of the tulip having contained within it all the beauty it will possess when it becomes a full flower, thus needing the rich dung to encourage that beauty to blossom.] It is evident that Montagu missed all this image has to offer a woman judging by the harsh, though clever, final line in her poetic

Skateboarding and marching band might not seem very similar with alike characteristics, but you would be surprised how I train for both of them very similarly. When I go to the skatepark I always am there for over three hours at a time. This means that I have good breath control. If a random person tried skating for three hours they would be passed out on the ground because they would run out of breath. That is the same thing for marching band. In marching band I will be running across the field while playing blasting into my tuba. In order to be able to do something longer, such as skate for a longer period of time, you must do a warm up. This means that I can t just go to the skatepark and start shredding. I first should do basic tricks before advancing into harder tricks. In marching band there is a stunt called a lunge. This is when you stick your leg out in a 45 degree angle and stretch it out. When I am skating there is a trick called a staple gun. That is where I take one leg off of my board and stick in on the ground, forming a 45 degree angle. As you can tell these are very similar stunts. I am good at lunging in marching band because I am good at performing the staple gun on my skateboard. This is probably my favorite movement skill that is in marching band and in skateboarding. Of course you need leg strength to be good at skateboarding. Skating is all about your legs, therefore you need no upper body strength to be able to shred on a skateboard. However did you know that that is the exact same thing with marching band. In marching band i hold my tube from my shoulders, and my shoulders are on my legs. Therefore my legs are actually lifting my instrument. In addition to holding my instrument, my legs are also running across the field. This means that you should work out properly. It seemed relevant to my work as a counselor since I will be communicating with clients on a daily basis. The goal of this test is to determine how effectively someone communicates with others, as well as to offer beneficial advice in order to improve any problems one may have that could slow down the communication process. This test is a valuable instrument for employees in the counseling profession since it is a career of constant growth. It also seems useful in several other careers that rely on constant communication. This particular communication skills test was designed to examine insightfulness, verbal expression, assertiveness, listening skills, and emotional management. A couple examples of the test questions include: I can detect the mood of others by looking at them as we converse and I manage to express my ideas clearly . A Likert scale is used in the scoring process with answers ranging from Almost never to Most of the time . One negative aspect of this test is its reliability on self reports. • 44. Comic Collecting Research Paper I sat in the airport boarding area hyperventilating. My father looked over at me from his seat, more annoyed than concerned. He knew that I didn t want to travel, yet he made it clear that I, being 14 years old, had no choice in the matter. We were going to visit my grandparents in Puerto Rico. They hadn t seen me in years and had been asking for a visit for some time. I was told it would be a time to reconnect with my dad s side of the family, enjoy the country air and the beaches. Oh, and there was this one other thing. I wasn t supposed to let anyone know that my mother had died a year and a half ago. You see, my father hadn t found the right way to tell them that their ex daughter in law had succumbed to cancer after a two year battle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If history is a guide, my fascination with comic collecting should ve gone the way of every other collection I d ever attempted. Yet, it didn t...and I think I know why. It s the story. I didn t just read that copy of Flash #30 fifty times to distract myself from the pain that my father forced me to endure on that trip. Sure, that was part of it, but the story, of a young Wally West who had graduated from sidekick status to inherit the mantle of the Flash after his parental figure, Barry Allen had suddenly died, resonated with me. Like Wally, here I was, alone in the world, figuring out my place, my powers , if you will. This story, and so many others, unfold over months, years and even decades. They provide rich, complicated plots, featuring individuals who despite their extraordinary abilities or skill face extreme hardship and yet still persevere and
