Introduction
Throughout the semester, the class was composed of lectures and recitations where we learn to use
MatLab, PSpice, and myDAQ. After ten recitations, we were assign a group project that
demonstrated the knowledge we had gained throughout the entirety of the course. Although we had
the option to choose from the following three detention circuits: a resistor thermistor voltage divider
circuit, a phototransistor resistor voltage divider circuit, or a standard PC microphone driving the
audioInput of the myDAQ, my group opted out towards the PC microphone detention circuit.
Within the PC microphone detention circuit, the microphone should have been able to detect three
different states of noise. The first state consists of the microphone detecting no noise, the second
state consists of the microphone detecting the presence of some noise, and the third state consists of
the microphone detecting a louder noise than usual.
The Implementation of Hardware and Software
For this project we used a smartphone and the myDAQ in order to make a detection circuit that
could detect no noise, low noise, and high noise. We first connected the myDAQ to the computer

Arcane Roots Concert Report
This show was the final date of Arcane Roots UK tour and my first experience seeing the band
live. The three piece from Kingston Upon Thames in London have built a reputation for being an
excellent live act in recent years; an accolade that I can now personally attest. Musically, Arcane
Roots sound similar to the early works of two other esteemed UK live acts: Biffy Clyro and Muse,
but with more technical instrumentation and complex song structures.
For a three piece, they command the stage very well. Bassist Adam Burton was permanently
animated throughout the set and guitarist/vocalist Andrew Groves was keen to spend any moments
that didn t require the use of a microphone, savouring the instrumental moments of the band s music
at the centre of the stage. Groves is an impressive front man, seamlessly delivering pitch perfect
vocals while performing intricate, rhythmically challenging compositions on the guitar; both of

White Collar Crime:
White collar crimes often consist of financial, non violent criminal acts committed by someone who
uses their social status or position within their occupation for financial gain. These crimes are
usually done by professionals such as bankers, lawyers, office workers, business managers,
executives and/or accountants. These professionals committing these white collar crimes want to
attain financial income and ensure they get away with it. Often, they target people who are
gullible, with low or no education, elderly or simply take advantage of someone s trust. The

In the current world, the culture of operating on little sleep seems to be regarded highly. Nowhere
is this phenomenon more profound than for 911 telecommunication dispatchers. These employees,
who consider sleep deprivation not as unique to their schedule, constantly have to respond to callers
and coordinate services to emergency situations involving fires, health situations, burglary cases,
car chases, and other situations needing emergency help. However, the effects of sleep deprivation
on these workers can be monumental, given that sleep is critical for the normal functioning of the
