This document provides an overview of CAD/CAM/CAE. It discusses the need for CAD/CAM/CAE to increase productivity, improve quality and communications, and create manufacturing databases and optimized tool paths. It then defines CAD as using computers to assist in design creation, modification, analysis and optimization. CAM is defined as using computers to plan, manage and control manufacturing operations. Finally, CAE is defined as using computer software to solve engineering problems through improved graphics, workstations and standards. Specific software for each is also identified.
