Steps for Ceragon 0.6m Radio Installation
1. Install mount bracket to antenna assembly
Figure 0.1: 0.6 m | 2 ft ValuLine antenna.
2. Interface plate (ODU mount) Installation
3. Assemble transition hub (polarization controller)
4. Assemble pivot bracket (horizontal and vertical controller)
2
5. Assemble pipe attachment bracket
6. Loosely fit link screw
7. Loosely fit pipe attachment bracket
8. Mount the RFU-C (ODU) on the antenna (Model: RFU-CXm-15-420-1W8-TH)
8.1. Do not remove the mylar from the antenna interface
8.2. Pay attention to the polarization mounting direction of the radio.
3
9. Pull the antenna at top of the tower
10. Prepare IF cable
10.1. Install N-Type Male Right Angle Connector at both ends of cable
10.2. Ensure connectors are connected properly.
Figure 0.2: Type N Male Right Angle connector.
11. Connect Grounding of ODU.
Steps for 19” Rack Installation
1. Make rack
2. Drill on the ground
3. Fix rack on the ground
4. Tight IDU
5. Tight DDF
6. Power and signal cabling for IDU
7. Grounding of whole rack structure of common ground.
8. Prepare cable for E1 link
a. Connect BNC connector at Ceragon IDU’s DDF side
b. Connect Siemens connector at BTS’s DDF.
4
Steps for ODU configuration
1. Connect power supply to IDU
Connect 48V of rectifier supply to 0V pin of IDU connector and 0V pin of rectifier
supply to -48V pin of IDU connector.
2. Connect LAN cable at management port (By default two ports at right, where LED is on)
3. Login to 192.168.1.1
Set at internet option to
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
IP address: 192.168.1.x
4. Make other required configurations.
4.1. In General -> Management:
4.1.1. Set IP address of the Radio unit nearest to BSC to 192.168.1.1 and that of the
Radio unit at BTS site to 192.168.1.2.
4.1.2. Management Ports -> Type = "In band".
4.1.3. Management Ports -> Capacity (kbps) = “64”
4.1.2 and 4.1.3 are for remote unit login.
4.2. Enter license code in “Licensing” tab. See serial no. of IDU in General->unit
parameters.
Now IDU restarts.
4.3. Select modulation type in “MRMC” tab. (39Mbps-26MHz-4QAM-Grade1).
We should select MRMC with Bit rate nearly equal to 50Mbps (capacity of radio)
and minimum Occupied bandwidth (MHz) to minimize interference to other radio
systems.
Now IDU restarts.
4.4. Set Tx and Rx frequencies in “Radio Parameters” tab.
5. To enable Ethernet port on IDU
5.1. Go to Configuration -> Interfaces -> Ethernet ports
5.2. Disable "Port admin" of Ethenet port 1 (Optical SFP connector)
5.3. Enable "Port admin" of Ethenet port 2 (RJ-45 connector)
6. Now line up the Radio link as far as possible.
6.1. Try to achieve RSL level of about 1.3V
6.2. Try to achieve Rx level to theoretical value of dBm provided in RF planning.
