R.K. Narayan was a prominent Indian novelist who was born in 1906 in Chennai, India. He received some of his early schooling from his father, who was a headmaster. Narayan later worked as a reporter in Madras before embarking on a career as a novelist. Some of his most famous novels include Swami and Friends, The Guide, and The Man-Eater of Malgudi.
