1. For our project we felt it would be good to create a questionnaire targeted at our
target audience to see what factors they feel are important in a music video.
In our questionnaire we asked;
•Should the music video contain more characters than just the performer?
•Do you think the performer's clothing has an significant impact on the music video?
•Do you feel a music video should be predominately made up of performance shots?
•What conventions do you expect to see in a music video of your chosen genre?
•Who are your favourite artists/bands of your chosen genre?
•What is your favourite genre of music from the following?
We felt it was important to gain this information because then we would be able
to include the conventions of our genre they suggested in their answers.
All of the participants felt it was important to have more characters than the
performer in the music video.

Other. We gave the choice of “other” so that the people taking part would have
more freedom in what they could I write.

The person who chose “not important” went on to comment;
“not significant... but if they look weird then yes”- this shows
that they don’t feel it is a large factor, but if it was completely
different then it would perhaps have a negative impact.
