The group members conducted a questionnaire to analyze reader preferences for magazines. They found that females were more likely than males to read magazines. The most popular age group was 15-19 years old. Readers showed the most interest in magazines focused on social issues. When asked if magazines should focus on social issues rather than other genres, most respondents agreed they should. The questionnaire helped identify issues like poverty and homelessness that deserve more coverage to raise awareness. Most readers said they do not purchase magazines but are attracted by topics covered. The majority also felt magazines should be available both in print and online formats.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. What is your gender?
According to the pie chart there
was a greater ratio of females
which therefor shows there are
more females than males who
read magazines and who
preferred to fill out forms.
3. What is your age group?
The age group that was most popular is
the 15-19 age group which means that
in our friends circle there are more
readers of the magazine than adult
ones. How ever the pie chart also shows
a reasonable sector of the age group
for example 16.1% of 20-24.
4. Which magazine genre do you find the
most interesting? You can select more
than one type
In this particular bar graph the
highest votes were earned by
category of votes societal issues. This
tells us the importance of speaking on
this topic and how people are
interested in this genre.
5. Do you think magazines should focus
on social issues rather than genres
listed above.
As according to the results it looks
like the people have an opinion that
magazines should be focusing on
social issues. It’s a clear guide to the
publisher on what content the could
add in the future and a benefit to
the social worker as they would
have increased support.
6. How much change do you think
magazines could bring to the society?
This shows a very slight difference between
the ranges 14% or below and 31%-59%.
The former range has 32.3% votes. Where
as the letter has 35.5% votes. This shows
that the audience was not specific on this
question as a whole. This slight issue could
only be resolved by starting a trend on
social issues based magazines.
7. A magazine highlights any social issues
would raise awareness to the majority
in the society. How far would you
agree with this statement?
Here yet again the response of
agree and neutral didn’t vary much
however there was a very strong
percentage of people disagreeing
with the statement.
8. Which of these issues do you think
deserves the most spotlight nowadays.
In this all the issues were
important but we wanted to see
the say of the public to see which
is most important. Thus many
choose the issue of poverty and
homelessness which is an
important issue to shed light on.
9. How often do you purchase
magazines?
This was a very straight
forward question where we
got an idea of the
percentage of people
purchasing the magazines at
different intervals. The
majority however choose the
option of not at all which
means that magazines
should be more according to
the peoples demand.
10. What attracts you in a magazine.
This was another simple
question where the audience
voted for their attracting
element. As seen the wider
part choose the first option.
11. Do you think this era should be e-
magazines instead of hardcopy.
Who would not want accessibility
in this era? Therefor the majority
voted yes which shows that
magazines should now also be
online.
