For their preliminary task, the student did not put much thought into where photos were taken or who was in them, and did not get variety or good shots. However, for their music magazine, they thought more about images, dressing models and positioning. They also put more effort into coordinating colors. The preliminary contents page was unattractive using the same font and logo, while research helped create a better contents page for the music magazine with more relevant pictures and information. For the preliminary task, a double page spread was unnecessary, but research and other magazines helped the student design an effective double page spread for the music magazine.

2. Cover
For my preliminary task I didn’t really
think about where the photo should be
taken or who should be in them, I kind of
just took them quickly meaning I didn’t
get any variety or any relatively good
shots. However for my music magazine
task I thought about my images more,
dressing the model and getting her to
stand where I wanted and in the position I
wanted. As it was a school magazine I used
the colours of my school (black, green and
yellow) whereas for my music magazine I
put more effort into thinking of colours
that all complimented each other.

3. Contents Page
On my preliminary task I used the same
font as my front cover however it still
looks unattractive and not like an actual
magazine. Using the same image as a
logo in the same corner does help to
link the two magazines together
however it doesn’t help the overall
appearance. For my music magazine I
did more research to find out how I
should go about it and where I should
place things on the page. I feel that this
helped me to create a much better
contents page with a wider range and
better quality of pictures and more
information that is relevant to the
subject.

4. Double Page Spread
For my preliminary task a double
page spread wasn’t necessary
therefore I had no experience in
making one. So once again I had to
refer back to my research and
other information that I had done
like my questionnaire and
sometimes I had to do more if I
was unsure. I linked it in with the
rest of my magazine by using the
same colours and the same kind of
layout changing a few items so
everything didn’t match! Using
other magazines really helped me
to figure out what should go on my
double page spread and what
shouldn’t.
