Introduction
In this PowerPoint I will be looking at how I have
developed from preliminary task into my main task.
Through this I will be comparing my front cover,
contents page and double page spread to look at what
differences there were and if any improvements had
  been made.
My Preliminary Task
For my preliminary task I learnt the basics of how to use
items such as Photoshop and the different tools in which
you use in Photoshop. I also learnt about the typical
conventions which are used in a magazine and how
they have an effect on different music genres for example a
pop band will feature a use of bright colours while a rock
band will normally have the colour black and will be dark
as it better represents that type of genre.
Front Covers
Comparison
From this you can see the transformation between my two magazines as
for my front cover as I had tried to include less information so that
there is more room for me to put my picture in my front cover. I also
learnt about using my background so that it is able to blend in well
with the picture instead of just picking a background which looks
good as in my first front cover I just used the blue and put my picture
in and didn’t think about what colours would work well. I also learnt
about the way in which to present people in a photo as it is important
especially in a band as if one person if off effectively it could ruin the
  whole picture
Contents Pages
Comparison
For my contents page I learnt positioning and where to put my
information and to put it into a bigger font so it was easier to
see. I also looked at putting in less information as in my
preliminary task my i feel that looking at it looks like it has too
much information for a contents page and should be just short
and snappy to attract the reader’s attention. I also learnt about
the positioning of my contents page and certain other items as
in my preliminary task I just positioned them anywhere as I
positioned my title for the contents page in the left corner while
in my main task I put my contents page in the middle as I learnt
  more about positioning.
Double Page Spread
Comparison
As I didn’t do a double page spread for preliminary task school magazine
I had to look at other examples from other music magazines such as the
contents page for Kerrang Magazine on My Chemical Romance which is
where I got a lot of inspiration for my own double page spread as
I thought that using the quote was a good idea as it showed the audience
what would be going on in the interview. I also like the way in which they
used pictures in their magazines which also emphasised the point about
what My Chemical Romance were like which is an idea I would use
overall in my music magazine.
