5. How did you address/ attract your target audience?
I addressed the targeted audience suitably by using a female teenager as the
main character. I felt this could be an ideal opportunity to differ the main role
as most apocalyptic films have a male that is the main role. However I thought
that having a female as a main character would broaden the target audience
range and would pitch it towards more females as I feel having a female
playing the main role is classed as unusual therefore it would attract the
targeted audience.
I attracted my target audience by producing an opening to a horror scene. This
was shown through the generic conventions of a horror. I did this by including
quick cuts when the character is in a rush to emphasis the need for the
characters escape from the place she is in. I included low lighting in my
opening scene to add mystery and an unpleasant atmosphere. It also benefited
the setting as it allowed it to become dreary looking and gives a feeling of
emptiness and sympathy for the main character.
